Hello there,
All of you who pre-ordered and helped Notion Ink start building the community must have received an email today. One email is on the confirmation of shipping and the other one is on the delay. Those who are in the later group (5.31%) are angry as I could see their comments and the emails.
It is extremely unfortunate that we are in such a situation. We could not have expected the accidental damage of the touch screen shipment, and that too just days before Chinese New Year eve. Even though the damage was to a part of shipment, we cancelled all because in such a case you cannot predict the defective and working screens manually. Our friends at Sintek requested their employees to miss their New Year week and instead manufacture the lost numbers. Most of them agreed.
Blogs are not easily accessible in China, and these employees don’t speak English. But their mangers do and know how to read your reactions, comments, thoughts on the peoject and are extremely passionate about Adam like you, and probably this is why they were able to convince their employees to work for you.
You shouldn’t go through this useless pain, but there is a whole group at Notion Ink and at our manufacturing plants putting in all the efforts at delivering you Adams. You have came this far with us, I will request for little more patience. We are listening and working on your suggestions at support at notionink dot com or preordersupport at notionink dot com.
Regards

Sam, if you are really going to experience "pain"
for the next two weeks over the fact that a silly tech device is not going to be delivered to you on time, than we need to talk. Lets look around ourselves and see those who are really in pain.
I heard that the donut machine is down at the krispy Kreme. Now those people lined up out there are in pain.
The people who are still waiting for their Toyota to accelerate on its own. They are in pain.
The people lined up at Walmart for Black Friday, even though it is Monday and January. They are in pain.
You waiting for another two weeks to get a piece of plastic that lights up with batteries (and by that time will have most of the bugs worked out of it), I don't think should qualify as "pain".
My Adam has the same delivery date as yours. Yes it has been delayed four times! I hope I get out of this line at Krispy Kreme in time to get home before it arrives.
I will be able to "chat" with some Sammy Reps. If anyone has any questions they would like me to ask or any questions about the Tab's that I will be playing with- lemme know.
Who says good things come to those who wait? Because you're a Very Influential Person we invite you to be among the first to try out the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 weeks ahead of its availability in stores. Get up close and personal. Come to our VIP Preview -- hosted by the expert bloggers who've been keeping you abreast of the Tab's march into the market. You'll not only get to touch the Tab 10.1, you'll be able to chat it up with Samsung Mobile executives.
Oh yeah, by attending, you'll have a chance to win one of five Galaxy Tabs or one of five other Samsung Galaxy S smartphones. That's a one in 40 chance of taking home a top-of-the-line Samsung product. Food and refreshments provided. All ages welcome. Act fast. The doors are open to the first 400 people who sign up.

Other than the obvious!
That would be my first question.
You should really make it clear for them how carriers are screwing up their name with these be-lated updates they do on purpose for their own benefits.
Asking them about the possibility of signed bootloaders from Samsung in the future would be a good one
I'd like to know for sure the cpu/gpu/DAC they're using in the Hercules. I doubt they'll tell you, though. Lol.
So...supposedly the Ouyas started going out a few days ago to those of us who backed the Kickstarter. Just out of curiosity...has anyone received theirs yet?

I haven't got mine. Maybe we should make a shipping thread or something.
I find it strange that the founder said during the launch event that they actually started shipping the devices out on the 27th of march but here we are on the 2nd of April and I've not heard of anyone (kick starter backers) receiving theirs. Wonder what's up! I figured mine would have arrived by now. Hopefully it will be here by Friday.

Who knows when I will be getting my console. Saying its gonna ship by end of march is very vague.
I guess its one of those things that will magically show at my doorstep, or they are just shipping them from Mars... Since I doubt that I will be getting tracking number anytime soon..
But anyway I read that on their facebook page that most people wont get their units until at least few weeks.

$99 kickstarter backer here. For $99 backers the kick starter page says, it is guaranteed that we would be receiving before it hits retail.
So, we would be getting any day between now and June . I think they're shipping in small batches, to prevent device updates from hammering their servers.
they also said they would be sending an email to confirm the mailing address prior to mailing. Thus, no email, no shipping. I checked my address in my Ouya account, and said to email them, which I did. They responded. So I may not get the address confirm email.
Email from the 28th - Looks like early backers get first shipments.
Project Update #20: Shippin’
Posted by OUYA
So... we made a game console.
And by "we" I mean you. OUYA wouldn’t exist without you.
Just last summer, we shared an idea for a simple, beautiful, powerful game console that lets any developer publish a game for the TV. We were driven by our love for couch gaming. And when you (and the rest of our early supporters) rallied around us, you inspired us.
We got here together.
Today, we honor you. Today we start shipping our early backers their OUYAs. And at our unveiling event this evening, the first of you will get to see OUYA in the flesh (or, metal, as it were).
Thank you.
Thank you for your encouraging words, for your belief when doubters doubted, for your feedback and ideas, and for your trust. And, I have to personally thank the OUYA team for the sleepless nights and sacrifices they’ve made to make OUYA for you.
A couple things our team wants you to know when you get your OUYA:
• When you first boot it up, you’ll experience our first update This will either be super fast (seconds) or allow you to get a drink (minutes) based on your connection speed. Eventually, we want to do these updates in the background...
• You'll need a credit/debit card to download games. All games are still free to try. Your card will only be charged if you buy content you love. We do want valid payment information for everyone. This is to ensure that game developers can get paid when you love their game.
• OUYA supports up to four controllers. And, because we support Bluetooth, you can pair other devices as well. We are testing now and will start publishing a list of devices soon.
This is only the beginning. Today begins an exclusive preview period as we gear up to launch in June. We'll continue to add features, refine the user interface, and keep building the software as we head toward our retail launch -- now announced for June 4.
We hope that you, our founding backers, continue to shape OUYA as we prepare to launch to the masses. Your feedback, to date, has been incredibly helpful and as you know, we’ve acted on many of your ideas and suggestions. We want your feedback on these first units. You know how to find us -- but we are also creating forums keep the convo going. In fact, we are planning an "AMA" (ask me anything) on Reddit to get your ideas. We'll do this in April (date still TBD), after you’ve had time to give OUYA a whirl.
Start checking your mailboxes daily as these units roll out over the next few weeks. You'll get an email when your console ships out of our factory. Keep in mind, it’s a rolling shipment, and consoles will be arriving at houses every day for the next several weeks.
Once your OUYA arrives: get playing!
As of 7:59 p.m. PT, there are already 104 published games on OUYA (all still free to try), like Final Fantasy III and some new surprises we think you’ll love: Beast Boxing Turbo, Stalagflight, Knightmare Tower, and even one called Save the Puppies. There are already a few entertainment apps, too. You can watch the TV shows and movies you already own with XBMC and Flixster, or watch games streamed through TwitchTV.
And developers are releasing new games for OUYA everyday. Eight thousand developers have created developer accounts with us so far.
Our hope is to see these game developers express their most creative ambitions through OUYA. We can't wait to see what they unleash on our TVs.
OUYA on...
Julie
P.S. In case you missed it, as part of making OUYA the most open game platform around, we just announced that we published all the diagrams you’ll need to 3D print an OUYA yourself! Thanks MakerBot (who has a sweet 3D printer, and runs the Thingiverse community site)!
Ouya are being smart and rolling the device out slowly. Good intentions always tend to screw things up, so best way IMO.
The only thing that sucks on my end is that other than the the occasional blog updates, I don't think anyone really knows what's going on with shipments, etc. No notification, no nothing. Ouya concept was great until they got their money. Just wish they updated us backers more so we wouldn't be so much in the dark.

Project Update #21: Our loyal supporters,
For backers only, Posted by OUYA
OUYA is shipping! I know you are anxious to play and probably want to know when to expect yours. Here’s the plan:
We began shipping last week, 3/27 in fact. We had two days of manufacturing and then we had to stop for Easter. This week, we got 3 days of work and then had to stop for the Qingming Festival. I know this sucks but we will be picking up the pace.
Starting next week, we will be building and shipping units 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Also, we are bringing on new vendors to help us deliver faster. However, we will not sacrifice quality for speed.
The rollout will be as follows: We are starting with the standard OUYA unit (grey console+controller), then working on the Kickstarter exclusive units and units with more than one controller.
Also, every Friday, on our blog (www.ouya.tv/blog), we will update you on our progess and plan. As of today, we plan on making our final delivery in May. In fact, until now we were sending shipping alerts only when your shipment left the assembly line. Because you asked for it, we will now send out pre-shipping alerts a week before to let you know your order is queued up.
We appreciate your continued support as we deliver your OUYA -- and know that every day there are more games for you to play! That’s the best part.
Thank you,
Julie
I just got that email today. Seriously stupid, kick starter people backed them and the ones who ordered early and were promised the special edition ones get them last? Who's bright idea was that? The march date they set is really just a super soft launch... Not even a launch really. Its cool they were close to their set date but other than it seems journalists, no one has theirs yet. I was pretty excited about the launch until I read the verge review. The interface is a train wreck if it is as bad as the review states. I really hope some custom Roms will debut that better marry the ouya store or whatever they call it and normal android. Getting the play store on there for me will be a big desire.

I just gotta say, with the apparent long wait for shipping, and the approaching june retail release, they aren't even going to get that much "beta" testing time before they need to really deliver a complete product. Seems dumb...I want my ouya!

Has anyone else got their shipping email?
No
But there isn't much of a rush at this point
I am pretty much expecting the Android/XDA community to make this device actually useable and most people don't even have the darn thing yet
Got this yesterday from Ouya:
Looks like your stuff will ship in late April.
We are now shipping Kickstarter orders (placed before Aug. 8). If you ordered between then and Feb. 4, your order should be shipped in late April. Orders placed after that time will be shipped in June. You will receive an email confirmation with tracking number once yours is on its way.
Hope you're excited for OUYA!
Best,
OUYA, Inc.
From what I can see, I shouldn't have backed up this project... The console is hitting major retailers in June and we were promised to have the console a few months early...
Are there any cases available for the phone yet?
Even the official website doesn't have any, only for the swift which even that isn't available yet.
I think this phone doesn't have a big enough market yet for people to produce cases and products for this phone.

Hi Adam
What sort of case did you get for your Storm, is it a case or a sleeve? Do you have a link to the one you bought?
Thanks.
Brianrh
any cases from wileyfox storm
I too want case/bumper for my storm, but to buy it nowhere. On Ali. for swift only
Nothing new on an official case or even one designed for the Storm, but if you are looking for a temporary gel case solution:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/121443-wileyfox-storm-case-size/
No real progress on a proper Storm case but I found a mention to this on FB:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/cat/Storm-Cases-and-Covers.htm
Whether this to measure interest or if there really is a case in the pipeline we'll have to wait to see.
Brian
According to the official Wileyfox twitter feed there are no plans tot release a case.
The following was posted by Wileyfox on their Facebook page yesterday (2 April)
Hello all, we are 100% aware that consumers are asking for storm cases. We have been forwarding all your comments to the product team. For the time being we have collated a collection of storm cases from third party makers and making reviews for the items, so you know what are the best fit. This is planned to be posted next week, we are just waiting for two more cases to arrive to give a large over view of what there is to offer.
Hopefully good news but perhaps don't hold your breath.
Brian
Just ordered one of these, seems to have good reviews:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/222082933481?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT
Will let you know what it's like.
Brian
The new gel case for my Storm arrived today and I am very pleased with it. For £4.99 I think it is good value,
Just a shame that Wileyfox couldn't have sourced one sooner.
As per Brianrh’s previous post, Wileyfox actually recommend these cases on their twitter and facebook pages. So I thought I would purchase one and like Brianrh, I am very pleased with it.

You may have seen that weird symbol from Nothing's last presentation, everyone was expecting to see a smartphone, yet they only showed a SILHOUETTE of their smartphone (alongside a bit of the UI), so, using every hint they gave us, and trying to apply their design system, here's a concept of how the Nothing phone(1) could be like. (plus my ideas regarding the features this phone could have and what their future strategy might be) .
UPDATE 07/06/2022
I apologise for not posting the 2 previous survey forms, but work life took over and you can now find all four surveys in the links at the end of the post.
Last week you had the chance to join our first Beta project with 2 very cool quick surveys. This week we’ve got a more detailed one, with a few Qs around connectivity and personalisation.
The questions are open, but not compulsory. But please try your best to answer all – your feedback is super welcome and will surely help steering our team in the right direction.
Talking about the team, this is what they’ve said after reading all your answers from the first 2 surveys:
"It will take some time to develop dynamic colours and we’re working on it now. Once it’s done, we’ll update it to a new version of the Nothing Launcher and make sure it can be implemented on the final design of Nothing OS.
Regarding the toggle of hiding the search bar, we’ll also try to implement it with high priority in the later version as soon as possible, so please stay tuned."
Get involved in all three surveys, they’re super quick to complete, and your opinion is much valued.

This is it, what we have been waiting for is in sight.
The long wait is coming to an end! It's about time, you'll tell me!

Behind the scenes of Nothing's hectic life in London.
Here's the latest excellent video released by the Nothing team showing some of the personal lives (especially for Tom and Akis), of how the Nothing machine worked before the official launch of the Phone(1) and you can see some of the core Nothing team moving into their new offices, some of the members as yet unknown, and see the complicity that exists in this anthill.
The surprise when we can see what will be, maybe, the Phone(1) in Carl's hands.
The video can be seen via this link: HERE
Not only does this video show us part of the anthill that is Nothing, but recently, if you're a Londoner, you must have seen posters with a green parrot on them, like this one:
But also on Twitter, parakeets and the green parrot appear with parts of what could be the Phone(1).
Updated:
If you take the latest tweet from the com Nothing team, something should happen tomorrow, Wednesday 15 June.
Unfortunately, I don't have a schedule for this event.
So if you want to know more, I invite you to check the Nothing Discord and Twitter page.
Nothing's instinct revealed!
Yesterday, in post #7, I wrote that something was going on today, Wednesday 15th June.
Well, it's done, early this morning the parrot revealed the back side of what will be the Phone(1) by Nothing.
Here are 2 pictures, and I leave you in reflection mode.
Are you pleasantly, if not really surprised by the design?
Disappointed? Were you expecting something better?
Tell me what you think?
I'm curious to know your first impressions!
It looks sharp, but uninspiring. I guess carl pei really took Apple's design language with the rounded corners and sharp sides. This is a typical candy bar smartphone with wide + ultrawide (my guesses) cameras and a clear back glass. Somehow I expected more... guts? Leaked video showed light-up effects to music is interesting but not really a gamechanger, besides it's existed in my 20-year old pc build lol.
Now it's really gonna come down to price and specs.

Even if this lighting seems obsolete to you now, it really is a change from all those stereotypical smartphones.
What would you like to have changed?
For the moment we have only seen the back of what should be the Phone(1), so we don't know much more!
I'm playing devil's advocate and trying to understand what people want! Some write that it's not great, it's a copy of Apple, etc...others that it doesn't have curved edges; others that it lacks this or that! that Sammies are better! In short, everyone gives answers but without really giving elements that allow the general shape of a smartphone to evolve.
For the price, I think it should be between 500 and 600€, no more, no less.
As for the specs, I think it should be the latest Snapdragon 7 gen 1 (new mobile chip for the mid-high end).
For the rest, I have no idea.

Fair questions. I'll have some of my own takes and I guess what I'm looking for:
Lighting is new, but is just a gimmick, as it does not change the way we'd use the phone.
At best, it can be a notification LED once again.
Front can't really be that different from normal candy bar phones. What it SHOULD have IMO:
Super AMOLED or equivalent display
Available 1440p or better
120hz LTPO 2.0 or better
Hidden front camera (Under display like ZTE, or popup like OP 7s)
Networking should, at minimum, provide:
Dual SIM, with eSIM support optional, in all markets
True global band support, with proper CA Combos, like how Apple (13s and such, not SE) has handled things and even some OnePlus (see https://cacombos.com/device/NE2213)
Performance, obviously depending on the price:
8GB of RAM is minimal, even for midrange these days
128GB of storage is fine to reduce costs, with a
MicroSD slot
3.5mm jack, with a decent DAC
at $700, I would expect them to be capable of SD8+G1, at $600 I would want to at least see SD7G1. No Samsung fabbed anything please.
Software:
Just run stock Android please, moto style of customization on it might be ok but no more skins like OOS, OneUI, etc
Proper 4+ year of dev support with on-time releases. See Essential team pushing out patches before the Pixel team back in the day.
Unlockable bootloader
Proper open-source code releases to enable devs
But again, these are just specs I would want to see on a "flagship killer" for a price of $600-700 USD. None of these really fundamentally changes the way a smartphone works, but could be exciting from a price/performance perspective.

I understand what your thoughts, but if you're honest can you imagine a flagship-killer with almost of yours specs for $600/700 USD. I'm not sure!
I see that you have a OP 10Pro & SGS22U, their are not really cheap! And do you have all the specs you want?
But I'm sure that the S7G1 is a SoC, not SD8+G1
3.5mm, I think not
MicroSD, now it's useless with 128/256 Gb of storage
I suppose 6/8 GB or RAM
Stock Android without majority of bloatware
Bootloader unlocked and open-source
It's just some speculations from me.
If you are not on to the Nothing Discord, can I suggest you to join it, if you want to discuss with some of them and explain your thoughts.
I'm on both, here and Discord.

I go through a lot of phones.
Take ZTE, https://screenrant.com/zte-axon-40-ultra-price-how-to-buy/
It actually has almost everything I want, with a better camera array than what the nothing is showing. The cost is $800 and there are available discounts. The only problem is poor band support in the US and SG8G1 being a Samsung fab chip. If nothing wants to compete, they need to at least be able to beat other competitors, so at $800 it better look as good as ZTE on paper.

UPDATE 05/07/2022
News broke this afternoon about a bonus for investors. It is about Dots in NFT version.
Those famous Non-Fungible-Tokens* that Carl collects. He wanted to share one of his passions with investors and members of the first hour of Nothing.
These are the Dots, the famous NFT by Nothing, which will be offered.
Here is the procedure, if you want to receive them and if you are an investor.
For the other members, this sharing will happen later.

Carl hates NFT and all crypt currency. He admitted that during a recent interview. It's his team who came up with this and thinks it can lead to something good. So he agreed to experiment with it.

I'm not sure about your statement because after talking with Carl on the #web3 channel of the Discord server, he owns several NFTs, notably from the Bored Ape Yacht Club, which have a certain value
I can't find the charging specs in official doc. Anyone got this well buried info?
Best thanks
