Why not try the gingerbread keyboard? Go to settings > language and keyboard and enable the gingerbread keyboard. I fond this better than the stock keyboard

First of all i dont have the "Gingerbread Keyboard" option and second of all i dont really like the GB keyboard. My favorite kb of all has been the stock 2.2 DX kb.
Does anyone know a way to do this? I really hope so as Im almost ready to switch back to stock 2.2 just for the keyboard...
Thanks in advance!

you can download the keyboard called keyboard from android 2.3 from the market and it lets you change the look and has a froyo option.
Or do you mean the stock moto droid x keyboard from 2.2?

Anyone have a solution to this? I tried replacing the LatinIME.apk in system, but the keyboard kept force-closing. The GB keyboard is really laggy. Im hoping someone has a solution to this asap.

i see this on the nexus one froyo it come with out of the box hebrew support http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686883
this is not true with the JP3 image.. any idea why ??
The fonts are there but they are not being used for some reason. Use the regular hack to push fonts as u do in 2.1

Yeah.. Good idea.. I don't think JIT is even fully enabled yet in the Froyo builds, so not sure why anyone would use them yet..
is it possible ?
thanks =D
Would have thought a stock android port would come first
1st why? Is there anything special that is not present on the sgs firmware?
The default firmware form motorola is usually crap. I know coming from a milestone.

The Droid X Launcher and Widgets are different from milestone !
(search please)
A stock android would be good too.

You only want the launcher and the widgets
I thought you wanted the kernel and all that.
I am just curious what you guys think is the best ROM for a D2.
As of right now, nothing compares to Fission.
Best ROM
Fission by far!
Fission huh.....can I ask why
and how do I get it? Do I need another kernal as well?

Just go to the development section and read the first post in the Fission thread. It explains how to install. You need to be rooted and have Koush's bootstrap.
If you like the stock look, you could also try squidly's rom. People with oc have been getting good scores with quadrant. The support is good for it as well. Has scripts setup to make it most customizable for basic needs and has the oc built in as well.

Maybe a but odd question, but what is the most Sense like rom out right now? And what is the latest version of Fission, because I see a few listed in the rom section.
I would agree about a sense like rom. Anything like that out there? Or anyway I could install it on the D2 if I get one?

There's not a sense-like rom that I know of for the D2
Oh, I think I remember seeing one for the original Droid and would have like it on the D2 or at least the dialer.
Try Dialer One.
A Sense ROM is extremely unlikely on the D2, so don't hold your breath.

Yeah, Dialer One is a decent replacement, it has some of the sense look and features
Can i replace the stock dialer with this? Looks nice, but themed version would be great!
How does it compare to this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784778
What about the HTC contact app, anyway one can install that?
What is the latest version of Fission? Can I get it in an HTC style black tool bar and stuff?
There is a Black Status bar. The newest version is 2.1.
Am I the only one that likes stock blur rooted and bootstrapped ? Fission gives me touch issues when using ADW as my home.

Fikckey yeah. For sure then I am goin with the black theme.

I use Launcher Pro and have no touch issues. The phone just runs smoother blurless

As I told the last guy who asked this (searching this thread is very helpful, btw) no, there sadly is not a Sense Gingerbread Rom available yet. I assume there will be once a sense based phone gets gingerbread officially from htc (probably the evo or desire hd).
Ya I saw there was none but I though I was missing something. Thanks a lot

Google: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Sense
Short answer: Mostly how things look: desktop, lockscreen, launcher, etc...And some widgets built in.

Sense also has several really good apps. I've looked for apps that are similar in the market, but I haven't really found any that equal functionality and polish compared to the stock sense apps.

It works!!
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/20/android-honeycomb-has-hidden-gingerbread-interface-enabled-by-h/
I downloaded the app https://market.android.com/details?id=lv.n3o.lcddensity&feature=search_result
I then set it to 220 and I got the Gingerbread Lockscreen and the launcher =D
(Make sure to kill any custom launchers or widget locker)
Edit:
The only thing that sucks is that we don't have any permanent buttons to call the menu/settings

Yeah, I thought this was awesome when I read that story, but then thought about the hard keys. There must be some hack somewhere for that...

Well there are people who liked the original launcher...so some people will want Gingerbread instead of Honeycomb...
Also one of the things I liked the most was decreasing the dpi and making honeycomb icons smaller and the browser could do full screens without scrolling to the left or right

Well, considering 95% of the complaints on this forum are because of Honeycomb, it makes sense, right?

Yeah, but it is just changing the UI not the actual underlying system. So it is still Honeycomb there.
