As I told the last guy who asked this (searching this thread is very helpful, btw) no, there sadly is not a Sense Gingerbread Rom available yet. I assume there will be once a sense based phone gets gingerbread officially from htc (probably the evo or desire hd).

Ya I saw there was none but I though I was missing something. Thanks a lot

Because you asked lol

What exactly does Sense provide? Just prettiness? Or are there other features?

Google: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Sense
Short answer: Mostly how things look: desktop, lockscreen, launcher, etc...And some widgets built in.

Sense also has several really good apps. I've looked for apps that are similar in the market, but I haven't really found any that equal functionality and polish compared to the stock sense apps.

[Q] Clean Android ROM for the 4g?

Is there a Vanilla Android 2.2 ROM for the Mytouch 4G? No T-Mo add-ons, no Sense, just the Android 2.2. I suppose if Sense was on there it wouldn't be terrible, I could just take those features off.
Cyanogen's 6.1 RC1 or RC2 are close to AOSP, Android 2.2.
Thanks. I found CM a little buggy on my 3g slide. I guess I can try it again.
cm6 on the mytouch 4g was pretty solid for me, cm7 is solid as well. Would recommend either one to you
Ok cool. Using one by "arayray" now on the slide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857848) that seems cleaner than CM that's why I was asking.
Really, I just wanna lose the T-Mo stuff and stay as AOSP as possible.

I haven't been a member here for long. I love what you guys do I'm running gingerbread right now on my HTC mytouch 4g I love it but I also miss the sense and the way the glacier looks. Is there anyway someone can combine the glacier with gingerbread. That would just be great. Thanks guys hope someone can help

+1 to this l, bro. However, given that there are no sense-based phones with an official gingerbread update from HTC, this seems highly unlikely to happen until then. Otherwise the rom will need to be built from scratch, which makes such a thing highly undeaireable from the Dev standpoint, I'd imagine.

Amen to that Idk why people hate on sense so much, its so awesome, and true sense has very little actual bloat.

alright, perhaps I need to rephrase. I find that, compared to the crap on the stock rom, a True sense-based ROM is much less bogged down with useless software (IMHO)and includes programs I actually like and use (reader, locations, htc hub for skins, etc). Yes, compared to an AOSP rom or CM, it is much more bloated, but all that comes from the polish applied to the UI which I happen to find quite appealing, but which some do not.
+1 to that... Sense is such a great thing, i love everything it has to offer! just wish the battery life could be a bit better~ other than that i use it as my daily driver!
I know alot of people who don't like sense, when I ask why they can't Answer why. Sense looks good and works great. If someone could combine it with gingerbread I would be hooked. My first sense phone was the hd2 and after coming to the mytouch and seeing how good the sense was I was pleased with what they did.

htc sense is very nice vs stock android.. stock android is sooooooooo boring and doesnt have all the nice widgets that htc sense hooks it up with and the nice looking ui. but the only good thing about stock android is it doesnt take up as much ram as the htc sense does. thats the only thing ive noticed different. also gingerbread is nice to run but i keep going back to htc sense for all the nice widgets.. i really love the weather one.. ive seen apps like it but they arent the same at all.

I for one prefer the AOSP look of Android. And loath Sense, It's so much bloat for not enough to warrant it. and if you want those widgets you get to download what you want. And Launcher Pro has a good chunk of those widgets included in the launcher.
as far as "weather widgets" the one off the LG 2X is perfect enough for me.

[Q] HTC Evo 4G 2.3 Sense Gingerbread Rom??

Hi everyone.
I'm looking for a Rom for my HTC Evo that is running 2.3 and that has sense.
My buddy told me about a Rom called Sensation? Not sure if it's out yet.
He also told me that Cyanogenmod has a Rom called Cyanogen Nightlines? That's running 2.3 Gingerbread.
I like sense though I've been looking for a long time for a 2.3 build with sense. Are there any? Or are they all without sense?
Thanks for your help
CM-7 is gingerbread but has no sense whats so ever its all AOSP. As for 2.3 sense it has not yet been released so you won't find any roms yet afaik

i think your buddy is yanking your chain about the sense 2.3 rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943903
You will not find a 2.3 sense rom until one is leaked or released by HTC. CyanogenMod is based off of the AOSP source code and is close to stock Android.

You think it's better to get CM7? Or Just download the 2.3?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877653
Not sure
that is just up to you and your opinions.... most of the 2.3 ROMs have some bugs and issues....CM7 is a little more stable. and launcher Pro is really great for $3. analog sense clock widget is a good replacement, but it does not have the animation!

hopefully CM7, and 2.3 look the same no?
Not at all. As said, CM7 is based on stock Android 2.3, so it's AOSP. That big flip-clock that you get on a brand-new HTC phone is part of Sense. Search Google Images, plus check out the threads for each ROM to get an idea of what it looks like before you flash.
edit: there may be a *few* similarities, but they are quite few.

Depends what your idea of official is? If you mean by like HTC then no you need to go for something user built.

Not possible. Any ROM you want to install requires root, and, HTC does not have any version without Sense. It is only possible using a Custom ROM.
Thank you.
Htc could signed one rom without sense for people who doesnt like it

Sense is their USP. I don't think they will ditch it.
Infact, even in the branding of these devices, there is no mention of Google anywhere, but, all HTC Androids will necessarily have the "WITH HTC SENSE" Branding.
If its just the home element of sence then try adw or launcher pro. Anyway whats wrong with sence

Was removed due to piracy with some apps, as well as hyping up the Sense widgets on a AOSP launcher, yet that wasn't true.
Mods, can we leave this thread here for a TINY bit, just so anyone else looking can know?
interesting...i was actually going to download the "new" version and check it out. guess ill just stick with what i have right now....

It's really just a Sense based ROM, with an AOSP launcher. Has a bunch of stuff removed, like the Rosie.apk, etc, but when you actually go to add widgets on the default launcher, none of the sense Widgets are actually there.
Anyone try version 4 which supposedly includes the HTC Camera app?

yes because having sense widgets is impossible without the full sense rom frameworks etc.

It DOES, because it's a SENSE Rom, lol. All of the HTC Apps work .. because it's sense. The widgets however don't work, as most suspected they wouldn't. At least not for me.

well if there were sources to the sense apk/ frameworks or the overall sense roms from htc, then maybe it would be possible, but as we all know that is closed source. so a rewrite to make them work is not very likely to work.
btw glad you'r waiting for the liquid_metal rom, you wont be disappointed.
