Worked! I'll be honest I'm surprised it worked but it did. Haven't had a chance to check all the Nodo features but I know WiFi is alot quicker to connect

So i did it as described following:
1. Start Zune
2. Turn off Data connection and Wifi on the Phone
3. Connect the Phone with the PC (USB)
4. Start the update search in Zune
5. About 3 seconds later, disconnect your PC from the internet (Turn WLAN off).
6. Zune finds NoDo-Update. Press OK.
7. Connect to the internet again and install the update.
Should work for all devices that can be updated by the VPN / dialup solution.
If it fails at point 5, try other timepoints for disconnecting, or try it again disconnected.

I have an Omnia 7 and I can confirm it works!!! Thanks a lot!

Yup, works like a charm.

SIM CARD Guidance

I am having a situation that is driving me nuts.
My access to the Internet on Win Mob works great via my SIM Card connection, however on my Vista side the system sees the SIM card and the Operator, but states local only. The vista network pipeline view shows a red X on the internet pipe.
How can I make the Vista side make the SIM connect to the internet??, if a switch to Win Mo its connecting with no problem!.
Just in case the WiFi works with no problems on the Vista side
check
1 - check the IP v4 settings on your adapter in Vista, is it on DHCP ? It must be when you try to connect to the Telco's GPRS network
2 - check to see if NIC/Network adapter is turned on at all.
3 - Check to see if your MODEM is active in Vista, via the top left button on your shift
4 - Did you install any liberation software ? I had to "connect to vista" once, after reinstallation, afterwards, Vista connects automatically to WinMo/SnapVue for internet.
5 - Has it EVER worked for you, or not ?
6 - Be patient, reboot, wait for 3 minutes to let vista connect and find the modem in WinMo/SnapVue.
7 - When resuming from hibernation, or sleep, it might not work. Check the forum
8 - Set your powerplan to max performace, see if that helps It does for other people
Guidance
Thanks Lucid, see comments

CHECKED-YES it was even when it states Local Only
2 - check to see if NIC/Network adapter is turned on at all.
I am not sure what is the Network Adapter?. Were do I see this.
3 - Check to see if your MODEM is active in Vista, via the top left button on your shift
When I go to comm manger it states ON and ATT
4 - Did you install any liberation software ? I had to "connect to vista" once, after reinstallation, afterwards, Vista connects automatically to WinMo/SnapVue for internet.
I did Liberate and one time used the USB tool. If that was the case should I reset Snap Vue???
5 - Has it EVER worked for you, or not ?
Yes
6 - Be patient, reboot, wait for 3 minutes to let vista connect and find the modem in WinMo/SnapVue.
I have left it for an hour. the Win Mo connects in quickly , but nothing ever happens in Vista
Thanks again for your comments
Guidance
Lucid, one last question.
I have the USB Tool operational and I have Win Mo and Vista connected via the connection manager.
Vista states now disconnected?
Is this the normal condition?
Win Mo is still connected
SIM Card Sucess UPDATE
So here is what I found to be able to resolve my dead Vista connection issue:
1) I check the items Lucid mentioned (IP v$ set to DHCP/ NIC adapter/Liberate), including connecting using USB tool.
2) Went into my connections and verified that all of the connection drop down menu windows had the Wireless Operator System selected
3) Went into Active Sync/Menu/Connection and discovered that connection to USB was checked. I unchecked.
4) Reboot machine and left alone for 5 minutes.
5) Win Mo was going back and forth on connection, until it got stable . One minute after that Vista connected and has remained On.
I will monitor after I go into sleep and come out

[Q] network sharing

I want to use my Wildfire as internet modem trough USB. But when I turn on network sharing I do not have any connection on my computer. I am new on adroid and I do not know what to to??? Thanks for solutions
Using your phone as a modem (tethering)
Get online with your notebook or desktop computer at any time, using your phone’s data connection.
You need your SIM card inserted on your phone to use the data connection. To find out how to set up and use the data connection, see Data connection.
Before you can use your phone as a modem, be sure to copy first HTCDriver.exe from your phone’s microSD card to your computer. To find out how to copy, see Copying files to or from the storage card. Double-click this file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the modem driver on your computer.
Make sure your phone’s data connection is turned on. See Data connection to learn how to turn on the phone’s data connection.
Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable.
On the Connect to PC screen, select Internet sharing, and then tap Done.

I cant find HTCDriver.exe on my microSD. Where do I find the file? Thanks.
I posted the same issue two days ago.
Apparently, we are not alone !
Just watch 10 posts below, I explained a little more...
Download HTC Sync software. It has htcdriver. You can remove HTC Sync after that but do not remove the other two HTC drivers from the program list.
I saw these drivers in the folder but actually the main issue is that when I plug set the usb mode to network sharing, I have no new material like an usb modem detected by the pc.... I'm running on seven 64bits. Is it compatible ?

Emmm.... it suppose to detect the new device. I'm using 7 64bit.

My wildfire works after i installed htc sync. I have no experience using the htcdriver file from the card.

Mine is also ok now. Now connecting to the internet using my notebook via Wildfire "Internet Sharing" function.
How to connect ?
1) Turn on notebook
2) open HTC Sync (on notebook)
3) Connect Wildfire to notebook using USB - select HTC Sync (on Wildfire)
4) On Wildfire - Open Settings - Wireless & Networks - check Internet Sharing.
Now you can browse the internet using your notebook.
Thanks for your response but it does't work...
On the Wildfire, under Wireless & network / Internet sharing, it's written 'Activation...' when I check the checkbox and it stay grayed.
Seems to be a strange issue.
Any idea ?

USB (MTP) over WiFi

The Arc has a very cool USB over WiFi function Sony Ericsson added to the phone! It just works like normal USB (in MTP mode), but over WiFi!
To set it up, follow these steps:
Connect your phone to your PC over USB
Get your Arc to install PC Companion on your PC (popup dialog when connecting/go to settings - Sony Ericsson - Connections - tap PC Companion installation)
Follow all the steps to install PC Companion
When PC Companion is fully installed and set up, disconnect your phone
Open PC Companion, and click "How to connect" at the top of the window
Follow the steps when you select WiFi
Done!
Works very smoothly!
Nice.. Getting mine today, so my inner geek is bursting to get out and play!!

I am very impressed with this feature. If they could make it work via PnPx and install the drivers via Windows Update so we didnt need the crappy PCCompanion software I would be more happy.
Not sure if you guys have more experience with this but My desktop is connected thru WiFi and the WiFi option is dimmed and can not be selected. I reinstalled PC companion but didn't help.
Anyone with some tips?
You might find its a firewall issue. Do you have UPNP enabled on your router and also do you have any firewall software running on your windows client?
I have tested on Win7 x32 & x64
This made me lol, cause i had installed pc companion and today when i plugged my phone to charge in my pc i saw that i have wi-fi signal.. And i was searching myself for like 5 minutes to figure out myself that i got wi-fi from the cable

Yes AVG is running but SE allowed for all. I have to find the setting which wants to connect
this only worked for me once or twice now it never picks my phone up. Very poorly implemented really. I use Android Manager Wifi and it picks my phone up everytime
Working great here. Thanks.
Is there any Way to get this feature on LInux (Kubuntu), too?
Will have to try this. Have known about this feature for a while, but afraid to WiFi my mobile to pc, both of which are Sony VAIO.

Experiencing Wifi Drops / problems? Try this solution....

Hi guys,
As you all no Wifi dropping is when your phone is connected to the router but not the internet, i.e. you can see the wifi symbol but webpage does not load.
I have got a suggestion: Turn your Laptop into a virtual Router using these softwares. This will work on pre-rooted phones also.
Connectify - http://www.connectify.me/
Paid service but the Lite version fully works on one phone. Havent tried to connect more than one.
Virtual Router - http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/
Free and open Sourced. This worked perfectly on the first day, but when i put my PC on hibernate, its showing an error everytime I run it. Might work for you.
Maryfi - http://www.maryfi.com/
Free and ad-supported. Was too hard to setup. Iam going to try again some other time.
Note: All of the above works on my Windows 7 Laptop PC, not sure on Desktop PC or Mac.
Let me know here if it works for you. Add some more if I missed any.

mango 7.5 connetion problems with virtual wifi router on w7

Hi
first of all thank you for this great forums. Helped me out a lot of times.
But now I´m facing a problem that I cannot find any solution within xda-forums.
Maybe someone can help?
My HD2 is running with the Pdaimatejam Rom Wp7.5 mango 7.10.8107.79 v7.5
and let me say everything works perfektly, even the market (thx to the zune chatsupport).
I tried to connect to my Laptop (OS: W7) via a virtual wifi connection to use it´s internetconnection for my HD2 at home.
The virtual wifi router (Virtual Router Manager v.0.9Beta) works fine. Tested with a second notebook. (Internetsharing works also) It also could be found via the Hd2 with wifi enabled.
By connecting I typ in the password and the virtual wifi shows the HD2 trying to connect. But at least it can´t. After a few second I get notification on the phone saying: "connection not possible due to no answering from network"
(sorry trying to translate)
On the other side my virtual router manager shows the HD2 during connection process (showing MAC adress) saying "retrieving hostname and IP adress".
After loosing the connection it says "hostname and IP adresscould not be found"
looks like both side trying to connect and can see eachother but can´t catch up. I tried to connect by stopping all AntiVirus Softwares and shutting down Windowsfirewall - no effect. I´m stuck... anybody got the same problems?
Any ideas?
*fixed*
finally I found a solution that worked for me
For all out there that might face the same problem as I described in my first post, here it is:
1. deinstallation of my HD2 from windows7 devicemanager
2. installation of service pack 1 for windows7 on laptop
3. new installation of my HD2 on wm7 (connect phone via usb > autoinstall)
4. installation of the wifi manager named "connectify" (leaving an emailadress is not necessary for downloading it)
5. enjoying a working wifi connection
next step was to remote my zuneplayer via zemote what went smoothly and within minutes
peace out!
