Would a Samsung Omnia 7 from Germany be covered by European Warranty in the UK? Would I be able to send/take it to UK Service Centers under the standard warranty? As, only Germany seem to sell the 16GB versions

I bought one last week from ES-Mobilfunk.de and sent it back for replacememnt becasue the "back" button did not work properly when pressed. There was no problem in returning for replacement. So far tho replacement has not arrived. Will keep you posted. I would have no issue in buying in Germany AND you get 16 GB as well
Here are my experiences getting the German Omnia 7 serviced in the UK.
The issue was a broken screen.
First of all I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to service it in the UK because of the 16gb so I fired off an email to Samsung Germany with my concerns. I did not get a reply for several weeks.
Meantime I called up the Samsung hotline in the UK to find out about the procedure for getting it serviced. I was told I wasn’t able to get it serviced since it was bought in Germany so I naturally informed them about the EU warranty. I was given a number of a partner that services these phones (Somewhere south... can’t recall the company name)
They were even more unhelpful so I decided to just check out Samsungs official repair partners in my city. There is a nice list on Samsungs website.
Had no problems getting it fixed. I just forgot to mention that the device was bought in Germany. I dont think they needed to know this.
After getting the phone back I received a reply from Germany that I wasn’t able to get it serviced in the UK.
In my experience the agents are either clueless about EU warranty or they don’t want to do it for a reason.
So just submit your device for repair without mentioning "extra" details.
Well, I just got my replacememnt from Germany, the original one had a problem with the back button. Now the new one has a problem with the bluetooth not working properly. It can see other devices and pair with them using the code but it will not properly connect and then drop connection. I called Samsung UK hotline and I am bringing it to one of their service centres in Belfast tomorrow. They said they will install new software?? They know it is Nodo updated already. And they didnt care about the fact I had bought from Germany...
They usually fix a European device, as proven with i8510 (brilliant phone)
And they are doing for me as well. My German sourced device is on it sway back to Samsung from Belfast Car Phone Warehouse for repair/replacement. Not sure what hey will do cause I think the problem is bluetooth hardware. I guess they will replace?

Thats funny I have actually just got one also from ES-Mobilfunk.de, and I noticed after some use that my Backbutton is not so responsive sometimes. Funny coincidence?
It works, but sometimes I have to press it precisely or twice before something happens (what was your problem?). The box was sealed and all original plastic was on the screen when I got it, so it must have been brand new I think.
Today I have been following another thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929460 about "Omnia 7 Home Button responsiveness". On my Omnia I have no problem with the Home Button, just had with the back button. Also try see this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdDNRYSMGHk another one that have strange problems with the responsiveness of the screen. One person in the comments wrote that removing the battery from the phone would solve it and that it had something to do when the charger have been connected and then later removed. I tried then to remove my battery today from the phone and actually my Backbutton since that have been much more responsive, very strange.....
Thats exactly the problem I had. The back button was not responsive. I sent it back and got a replacement. The replaced device worked fine for th eback button but it has a problem with the bluetooth hardware. I cannot get connected to other devices and I have tried everything. So thi sone has been sent back to Samsung for repair :-(

I wonder if ES-mobilfunk then just have send me yours, lol - and then just have made a new package + sealing of the box (it looked really brand new when I got it). Or if its a serie of specific Omnia 7s that have that problem - also I dont know if its really a hardware or software problem.
Nevermind, because my Backbutton works, its just a little bit less responsive then the search button. My BT works fine and I am connected in my car/Audi A5, so I dont want to go through a lot of trouble now again sending it back. But I wish you luck with yours!
I got also one week ago my phone from es-mobilfunk.de. The same back button problem. I don't know what should I think about it. Remarkable coincidence.

aye they did a similar thing with me. before i got into xda-devs i had some righ5t probs with me hermes.
well i took the first one back and then they replased that. cant remember the fault mind. that one went wrong so they replaced that and then this next one went wrong again! called them up complaining and apparently if they repair a phone 3 times you can ask for a totally different phone to replace it. asked how much the kaiser would be and they said 30 quid and could be with you tomorrow. i was a very happy man and now i got a hermes and a kaiser!
they never asked for the hermes back either so always a bonus eh.
so any you guys got any probs out there even if its tiny get on the phone to t-mobile. could soon have a kaiser for 30 quid!
I work for T-Mobile and it's HTC policy to replace rather than repair a faulty unit under warranty.
As long as the engineer who looks at it doesn't determine it as damaged they always send out a refurbished unit.

This is a long saga, but I hope it will prevent anybody else from losing $700 by buying a Touch HD in the U.S. from Expansys, or even dealing with HTC.
I bought my Touch HD from Expansys USA in April 2009 for full price ($700). I had previously bought two Advantages from them, the 7501 and then the 7510. I was looking for the Touch HD to provide much of the same capability as the 7510 in a smaller form factor.
The Touch HD worked fine, except for an occasional screen flicker. While looking at various Touch HD forums, I found a reference to the flicker issue and some HTC hotfixes and a ROM update that would fix it.
I went to the HTC website and saw the hotfixes and the ROM update and opted for the ROM update as it seemed to roll in a number of other hotfixes. I put in my serial number and it said that the ROM applied and then it let me download it. What a disaster!
As soon as I did the ROM update (and I have done ROM updates on many a phone and PDA), my screen colors went crazy. I finally figured out that turning the screen display off and on corrected the colorization problem. But then the HD would run for about 30 seconds and lock up to where only taking out the battery would let me restart it. It would, however, hotsync.
I called HTC USA and they recommended reinstalling the ROM update with a fresh download from the website. Did that twice. Same thing. I called back, and then they said that I would have to call HTC International as HTC USA did not support the Touch HD.
Called HTC International. The nice bloke in the U.K. researched the unit from the IMEI number and said that it was a French version with a UK ROM overlay, but that HTC USA would have to service it as it was sold in the U.S. He said that it sounded like it needed to be sent in under warranty to have the ROM reflashed.
Called back HTC USA. They finally gave me an RMA to send it in. I did. They got back to me the day after they received it and said:
(1) The INITIAL ROM on the device was unauthorized (on the phone they said ILLEGAL) and, therefore, the warranty was voided. They would not/could not tell me what the initial ROM was or what is the authorized ROM version. I would just have to take their word.
(2) That the motherboard AND LCD must be replaced! They could not say why, except that the unauthorized ROM caused it (?).
(3) The above would cost me $546 on a two month old smartphone, and then I would only have a 90-day warrant but only on the replaced items, nothing else.
Wow. I called Expansys. Somebody dutifully recorded it and said that they would send it to the warranty department and somebody would get back to me by e-mail. When? Don't know.
The Touch HD is a great device. But I fear that owning an HTC device in the U.S. is too great a gamble.

sorry to hear of your troubles... if you buy from Expansys, yes, it's a gamble...personally, i don't trust where they get their phones and have heard similar stories to yours. that is, you buy a device only to find it was for one country and flashed with a different ROM.
for that reason, i used other - more reliable - sources for mine. i've had 2 HD's the UK version (without US 3G bands) and the Telstra version (with US 3G Bands) and have not had any issues with either.
if you reasearched this forum, i think you would have been able to resolve your issues. one thing you did, that you may not have been aware of, is to flash a ROM that wasn't compatible with the SPL on your device. this is why you got the "infamous green screen issue", which is easily correctable (check out the link in my sig). using a ROM with the incorrect SPL also causes other problems with the device. if you haven't returned or sold the phone, do a little research read the link in my sig, and you should be able correct your issues. hope my feedback helps you get your HD in order...

I'm probably wrong but the description seemed very similar to when I flashed a rom with the wrong version of spl...

Thanks for the reply. I'll go look at it...but I wasn't looking to flash an incorrect ROM on to the device, so I didn't do any research on it. I thought it was a manufacturer approved ROM update. I haven't delved into this forum as deep as I probably should have.

Wow -- if I had realized that Newegg sold the HD I would have definitely bought it from them as I've had very good experiences with buying from them in the past. I didn't realize that Expansys was selling gray market stuff with no warranty. Of course, the HD in the box has a warranty certificate saying that it's a two-year guarantee -- but obviously that isn't true. I have bought gray market items in the past, but I knew that they were as they were listed as such.

Im curious, did reflashing the SPL fix the problem?
From what I gather you had a custom ROM on the device in the first place, therefore you must have a hacked SPL or modified bootloader in-order to flash a custom ROM. Now if you read that thread listed above very carefully and follow the guide to the tee then I believe your problem will be solved.

This is unbelievable.
Today I got my Touch HD back from the HTC USA repair center in Indianapolis. When I put the battery in and turned it on it was in the same sad state.
As a reminder, HTC USA said that the 1.56 ROM on it was ILLEGAL and completely voided my warranty. They wanted $586 to replace the motherboard and the screen to fix it, and then the only thing that would be under warranty would be the items replaced for 90 days.
Expansys offered to send the HD back to Expansys France where they got it from, but said it would take at least EIGHT WEEKS, and then they could not guarantee that it would be fixed.
So, I followed the recommendations on this forum and went through CrackWhore's process and replaced the SPL. The instructions were great.
When the HD rebooted, it was PERFECT! It recognized the new ROM, the screen was as beautiful as ever, and it runs faster!
I did a hard reset and then a full sync, and I'm back in business.
I couldn't have done it without you folks.

HTC America in Huston TX or Indianapolis is close to a scam, I suggest to submit an official complain to www.bbb.org and sent a registred letter to HTC America in Bellvue WA. Here is what is going on in fact:
Week 42 to week 49 (SN 842 to 849) had a bad GSM chipset batch and was never done a public recall, they try to hide this problem hopeing the warranty will expire. The bug is visible ONLY in EDGE not in 3G so this is the reason the 3G in Europe will not nottice this problem easy, sooner or later ALL chipsets will fail, is a batch problem. I strongly advise who have this range of SN to disable 3G for few days and let only EDGE. Than observe on low E signal if can be initiated the call, in my case the call was initiated very hard. I spend hours and hours with them on the phone explaining I have side by side 2 HD's one with SN in 2k9 and another one with 843, after that I finally get an RMA they admitted and change MB, so the GSM chipset crap is true. After getting last Monday back from Indianapolis I notticed the back speaker is not working ( I could fix it myself than I said what if is chipset again!!!), I called them back and since then I spend over 8 hours in the last 9 days escalating my problem with different levels until today when I sumbit my complain to BBB and send a registred letter to HQ. After this they told me they will reimburse $20 dollars!!!! but still did not get the shipping label to send it back for 2nd repair. I am planning to open a lawaction suite agains HTC America due un-honest attitude with HD users, they all know what is the problem with HD and try to hide under the table, as I said before is close to a scam. Actually seems to be a more severe problem with Qualcomm chipsets not only for HD, time will see. Around the corner from some inside sources seems they are in big trouble with Qualcomm and they have "some" QA issues in manufacturing, trying to reduce costs, no wonder this is the recepie for going after GM ) LeeBv I wish I could help, if you need some info PM and we'll chat I am 4 weeks ahead you )

The camera on my Nexus One has stopped working, and its clearly a hardware error.
The thing is; I live in Norway. I bought this phone in the states, since its not available in Norway.
So I contacted the HTC support in Norway, and they transfeered me to HTC UK. After talking to the guy, I will recieve an adress, where I have to send the phone, at my expense. Once they recieve it, they will send me a bill for the return cost. After that is payed, they will fix and send back my phone.
Is it worth it? How do I know that they will cover it from the warrenty, and how long will this take?
Any input, is appreciated
EDIT: The HBOOT thing is unlocked.
Is it worth it depends in the cost of the shipping. They tell you shortly after they receive it whether it's covered or not, they're pretty quick.
Shipping the phone to them is about 30 GBP. and the HBOOT is unlocked :/

Sorry to hijack the thread but do they charge out the arse for having parts fixed? I'm weighing up fixing my power button myself or sending it to them. (Previously opened so I doubt i'll get it fixed under warranty).
unlocked or not.. i had my nexus one power button broken. sent it to them unlocked and rooted and they sent me replacement. I had no problems from htc at all. the only thing i had to pay for was the camera, it was cracked by me, they charged me $60.00 us.
I think I will send it in. Worst case, I will lose £60, and get the phone back with a non working camera. (Ofcourse, that is if it doesnt get lost in the mail)
Should I go back to stock room, or do anything else before i send it in? And should I use the original box the phone came with?
My N1 had random restart/overheating issues and I sent it in with clockworkmod clearly installed, though I did install stock + factory reset before I sent it. I had no issues with the process and didn't have to pay a dime.
whether it's worthwhile is up to you, at worst they will charge you 200 USD to replace the main board but I doubt that will happen.
They were very reasonable when I cracked my screen. $55 including shipping is all it cost me.
Just called HTC again, because they got the wrong contact information on me. This time they told me that they will pick up the phone from my home, instead of me paying for the shipment. Very impressed so far

I live in Austria - and my powerbutton was not working so i called the support and they told me that the repair is free as it is warranty and i only have to pay the mail to the UK - not the return.

In my case: I send the phone to UK on 18.November - they received it on 22.Nov, and until now its not returned! (but they told me that a wrong ticket on their side was the problem)... ;-)

My Phone was also unlocked...
I live in Sweden, my speaker was loos. I mailed HTC and got the ticket, paid for a recommended "bubble" envelope at the post office. Costed me 130 SEK(10 USD). Putted the phone without the battery, sim-card,SD-card and back case and the ticket around it. 10 days later i`ve got the phone back. New speaker and they even changed the receiver on it.
The phone was used when i`ve bought it so i got it without a recit and i`v got a Cyanogenmod on the phone. HTC putted the original rom back and locked it.
No questions asked.

I also had a good experience with HTC UK. My N1's power button stopped working and I had to sent it to UK because I bought it from USA instead of waiting for N1 launch in Spain with Vodafone.
It took 2 weeks: 3 days travelling to UK, 4 working days in HTC Repairing Center and 4 days travelling back to Spain (there were huge snows on it's way, it should have been faster because they sent it back with UPS -probably 2 days-).

My power button has been going out the past few months, sometimes taking up to 5 times to turn it on. I'm guessing it will probably die soon enough. It probably would have died long before now if it weren't for me using trackball wake from CyanogenMod (but I still use the power button every so often such as when my hands are closer to the power button than the trackball).
Anyway, I called HTC recently and I'm going to do a swap. My warranty ends in just a few days, so I thought I'd get it fixed before then.
For those of us who bought the Nexus last January, the warranty is about to expire. Anyone else doing any service this week (or month) before it expires?
Motivated by you, I called HTC too about my power button issues. They told me swap option is not available to me (no idea why).
Since I have a few scratches on my screen too, I was looking forward to the swap option
My phone is unlocked so I did not request a repair on power button yet (I have 2 more months in warranty). I might wait and watch if the problem gets any worse.

They actually told me I was out of warranty (no idea why since I bought my phone mid-January). So he said he would put a note on it explaining that it has been less than 1 year so there's no reason why I'd be out of warranty.
Maybe call back and get someone else. If you bought it less than 1 year ago, the swap should be available. Or ask why they're saying it's not an option.

Aaah, thanks for that info. I called again and the reason they gave me that replacement is not possible because Canada charges HTC custom tax on the shipped phone which is why they are only doing replacement for Canadian phones.
However, he said that if I have a US address (which I do) then they can ship a replacement device to that address. Now I'm contemplating if I should go forward with this.
The two things that worry me are:
1) I have some scratches on my screen which are not covered under warranty
and
2) My bootloader is unlocked
Will these 2 things cause my phone to be out of warranty causing HTC to charge $500 on my credit card for the replacement device they send me?

I did a swap by using a friends address. HTC reps didn't care, and were actually the ones who suggested it to me. So if you can, have it sent to a friend/family member in the US and go pick it up from them if possible. At worst they'll have to ship it to you, but you'll also have to ship your phone to them so they can ship it back to HTC to complete the swap. HTC will only send you a shipping label good for within the US if doing the swap.

I ask because I do sometimes have trouble getting my N1 to acknowledge a power button press and wake up but have never had a problem when I push the power button to put the phone to sleep. Wouldn't it have a problem both turning on and off? Whenever I have the problem it seems like the phone is busy, usually something to do with the radio switching between WiFi and cellular. Or do I have a different problem?

Ah, that makes sense. I didn't realize you were in Canada.
I didn't say anything about my unlocked bootloader Many people have posted and said HTC swapped their unlocked device without issue, so /shrug. Maybe they ding me, maybe they don't.

Yeah, power button failure seems to be a common issue. Supposedly there is a little plastic piece in there that gets worn out.
You're right; I've only noticed the power button failure when attempting to turn ON the phone... Hmm.. Could be the way the contacts inside are wired, who knows?

Why?
They were sold from March until around late summer. The warranty is a year long either way.
I'll be in the same boat in a couple of months. I got the ATT version the first week it was sold and my power button is completely gone out for the second time. The first time, I sent it in with Cyanogen installed and they didn't care. I opted for repair, but the repair is to swap motherboards so, if the phone isn't scratched up, there's not much difference between repair and replace.
I was going to swap after Christmas but I've been using trackball wake and Invisible Lock Widget for about a month and don't miss the power button anymore. But I'll still probably get it fixed before the warranty is out, no reason not to.

right, but they quit selling the AT&T version after they shut the online store down. you could only get the TMobile from the Google Dev store, so I assume that HTC isn't sitting on a surplus of devices to swap.. just a guess, but I bet AT&T devices get repaired, not a new IMEI

Since my phone IS scratched up will HTC charge me for the replacement (scratches not covered in warranty) ?

Maybe they have some stocked up because after giving them my IMEI (which is that of the AT&T model), he said if I have an address in US then I can get my phone swapped (new IMEI).

It was a few months ago but I got two swaps of my AT&T phone. The first one had a goofy screen.

I don't know, I just know what they said and did in my own repair experience. I asked if swapping meant I would get a new one or a refurbished one and they said it would most likely be refurbished because they rarely had new ones. This was months ago. Also, with a repair where they switch the motherboard, I think you actually get a new IMEI. Mine had a new IMEI anyway. I thought they switched phones until I read that the fix for a bad power button was to swap the motherboard, so I assume the IMEI is in it.
I had several scratches on my screen, an unlocked bootloader and chunks missing from the bottom and top of the phone where it was dropped. I did the swap option and I wasn't charged. As long as the screen scratches don't look worse than normal wear and tear I would think you would be fine.

My warranty wont be out for another year and a half I think, since Im in Austria, and European laws are some kind different. Anyway. My powerbutton hardly works and I would be very interested in anyone having experience with european htc. do they swap? do they charge? also could I send my phone to the us (friends) and get a replacement by the us htc since they seem kinda "nice". Im really not sure what to do. I get along with the lock screen widget and trackball wake but well a new phone doesnt sound bad either... so anyone knows anything about sending phones to the us from europe or replacing / repairing in the uk?

If you don't want to read my story a summary is at the bottom .
First I'll start of with my phone and the issues.
I bought my Nexus One AT&T version around June of 2010. Rooted it with without unlocking bootloader, ran a few different roms, then one day BAM vibration stopped working, but after a few screen on-offs or tapping my phone in my hand it would come back. After countless attempts to fix the issue such as master clears, flash back to original shipping, and finally in a last ditch effort UNLOCKED the bootloader so I had unrestricted access to rectify the problem. Nothing worked and finally had to accept the fact the little vibration motor had quit on me.
I called up HTC in December about the week before christmas and told them the problem which they agreed was a hardware issue. Not once did they ask if my bootloader was unlocked nor did I offer up that information. They offered me the two options of either a swap or send in my unit for repair. I choose the swap option for fear that they would get my phone, run tests, and not reproduce the issue since it was intermittent for me. Here is the scary part to do the swap they needed a hold on my credit card for $528.00 , risky to say the least since my bootloader was unlocked but seeing as it was hardware failure I was willing to risk it and hope the charge would drop off once they received the phone. In preparation to send my phone back I flashed back to completely stock removing root.
The next day the phone arrived FedEx . First thing I noticed was that my battery cover fit much more snug with no gaps and did not stick out just slightly above the top. Next the power button and volume buttons were much firmer. And of course the vibration was strong as an ox . Also to note it shipped with 2.2.1 (not D) and had the 5.08 radio, Hboot 35 and the AMOLED screen NOT SLCD. All in all the replacement seemed much better than my original, lol.
Now seeing as christmas was so close I wasn't able to FedEx it back to them (they provided the label) for almost a week. But once I sent it off it was overnighted to them and received without issue. Plus the hold on my credit card was also dropped!
So to sum it up I had an AT&T Nexus one with Bootloader Unlocked, bad vibration motor, got it swapped out under warranty, was not charged a dime, and am now even more of an HTC fan and happy to have a fully functional Nexus One.

I'm worried now because my power button isn't *totally* dead but the email they sent has the issue listed as "defective power button". So I hope they don't just press it once, see that it works, and call me a liar. I did tell the rep I spoke to that it was intermittent. Anyway, I hope my case works out like yours.
Mine is coming back from repair on Tuesday
I live in the UK and mine was piked up on the 30th Dec (phoned on the 29th) as my power button is dying slowly for the second time (first repair was in Sept '10 so not long ago!) and I was concerned that as I bought mine on the release date (5th Jan) I would be screwed if I left it any longer with only days left. That was until the lady at HTC UK told me that my warranty runs out on the 25th Dec 2011. Seems as an earlier poster mentioned that EU warranties are 2yrs which is nice for me.
I'm still wondering whats going to happen with this power button fiasco. The HTC agent wasn't aware of any known problem with them (not saying much really is it?) but said I could appeal the repair charges and some "arrangement" could be made (50% off or something to that effect). Anyway, that's just under a year away and I might start getting a bit pissed with them and start requesting that this isn't acceptable to keep sending my phone off every couple of months for 2 weeks at a time while a small part is replaced in my phone!
The first time it went back for the power button, (first time was in March for soft keys acivating when 1/3rd way down screen, got replaced for current unit with different touch screen revision) I had the phone unlocked with the infamous unlocked padlock symbol glaring at me every boot up. I sent it off and HTC just repaired the faulty button and flashed a locked 2.1 image, no questions (took almost a month to get back though!). Sweet! Now it was just a case of using one of the one-click root type apps and away I went.
Quick question guys: How likely is it that we'll get SLCD screens if we get a swap right now?
Is anyone being a problem with the home button? Mine has to be pressed dead central for it to register. I can fully press it at the extreme right or left and nothing happens.
Have I got a faulty unit?

No issues here. Had a few issues with fingerprint recognition at first, but then I programmed the same finger a second time and had no problems after. As for the actual home button, it recognizes it no matter how I push it. Sorry to hear you're having issues.

I have this exact same issue but only with the right portion of the home button. TMobile is sending me a replacement unit after I called them yesterday.

Yes I have the exact same problem! Mine has to be pressed dead on the center or it doesn't go home. Taking it back to carphone warehouse to get a replacement tomorrow.
Samsung (online) won't replace my phone, they will only give me a refund.
What a poor service. Now I have to go and buy another (and the refund may take over a week to get back to my account)
Not a good experience from my 1st purchase from Samsung online.

You'd rather them put a hold on your card, and ship you a new one while you ship them the old one (how a return works if they don't make you send the old phone in, wait for them to receive it, and then send you a new one).
Seems refund and buying it again is easier for all involved.

I' rather they ship the replacement and collect the faulty one when they drop off. I've had that service from previous on-line stores.
In terms of the cost - I paid by paypal so I am already in debt to £640 and now I have to find a further £640 until they process my refund - It's not how it should be.
Also - I offered to go to my local Samsung store to do a swap but that is not an option.
I f I had bought from CPW on-line (which I now wish I had) If it was faulty I could have returned it to any store fore an exchange.
I love Samsung products - I have had many but I am just disappointed with their after service.
I got my pre-ordered one at the store today. Checked specifically for this problem, and, boom, there it was. Replaced a new one right away.
Sorry to hear about Samsung online not replacing products in warranty. They are doing the same on me at the moment with a faulty screen. I'm going to have another go at them. All I want is a replacement....
No issues with mine.
I would suggest going to your nearest Samsung store for a replacement.

I'm going to spend this afternoon phoning them up to get a replacement. The contact number in the UK for the shop is +44(0)1628 918334
They take 1 minute to attempt to answer a call. Which is true, getting them to send a replacement appears to take a lot longer

That's BS. Expecting you to go without until they have received the device and then processed a refund (which takes long enogh itself). I would suggest ringing them and not giving in, request an escalation.
Ok, just finished on a call after escalating to the UK call centre manager. They have just sent me this email:-
Looks like they will ask you to keep the VR headset, refund you and arrange collection of the device.
After that just go to Carphone warehouse and buy a new one:-

I thought it was because I had the plastic still over top of it, but I've noticed this too. As far as I can tell that's the only issue though, I have no pixel issues, no tint issues, no screen issues at all that I can see so rather than risk it I'm just going to keep it. Not that big of a deal.
Old phone now returned and new one purchased.
Home button on new one is working fine I'm pleased to say.

I am having this exact same issue with my S7 Edge bought from Samsung UK online at launch with free VR.
My feeling is they don't want to know, and there "support" has been horrific!
I bought mine outright on my credit card, how did you get the exchange sorted in the end, and did you have to do without your phone while they sent the new one?
Thing is fingerprint etc all still works fine, but its seriously hacking me off knowing it shouldn't be doing this!
I have the same problem now.Does the waranty cover this issue?
