SPB Mobile Shell 3D - XPERIA X10 General

Hey,
SPB Mobile Shell 3D is available for download on the market! I've tried it and the previous error of it saying "Not supported" and one having to reboot to get it to work is no longer there. Its sleek, with obvious improvements from the previous one.

+1 Tried it and went back to Launcher Pro.

I liked it.. considering how much work they've done, I think the price is worth it

Yeah, slightly expensive. But I like the feel of it. Seems to drain the battery a little faster though. I was stuck to LauncherPro like a glue until the Arc Launcher came along. Now I have Arc + SPB, keep playing around with em both.

It's pretty cool and slick
But i think it's not worh it

It's for some reason not working for me, I get a black screen after installation.
It is super annoying

I had it on my x1 ofc shell version for wm, it was good but forthe price no thanks

I had 3.5 on my X1 also and enjoyed it.
I had no trouble dropping $15 on this app.
I think it works very well and the eye candy is tops for launchers/homes

launcher pro was nice .... but "go launcher pro" is way better

SPB MObile Shell 3.5 - anyone used this

Has anyone used this and what are your impressions compared to HTC Touch 3D. Does everything work, any problems?
I have this and find that it runs a little smoother than touchflo.
I have just started using 3.5 but have used previous versions and liked them. It's pretty smooth, and much more customizable than TouchFlo - kinda like the Android interface. (Although I have to mess with it a little more - they've changed some things since 3.0, and I can't figure out how to get some things customized the way I had them before on my Touch (vx6900).
Previous versions had a little bit of battery usage issues, but I'm having that issue anyway with my Imagio, and it doesn't seem like it's using it any more than Touch Flo was. They have a 15 day free trial, and it's worth at least trying it out...
how do I add new widgets to 3.5
just tap the bottom right hand corner "drop up" menu - add widget is in there

Not that crazy about it. It's total eye candy, which is cool, but imho it makes things unnecessarily complicated and convoluted.. Plus, there's the huge interface consistency issue that bugs the hell out of me..
Yeah its Purty!!! And very flexible but I uninstalled it after i used the 3d carousel for a minute or so lol.. I just needed to see what it looked like in 3d since I didnt have that option on my omnia. its one of those things where it all depends on what you need your phone to be.. for some its just right, others too much and for many not enough.. mainly because SPB doesnt open it up to the community enough.. it definately does not have as much OS integration as touchflo..

In my opinion, SPB mobile shell is very good.
It's HIGHLY customizable, there are lots of themes and icons available for download.
SPB replaces your default UI, so if you miss HTC sense, all you have to do is enable sense on the today's menu.
It's definitely worth looking into.
It looks nice, It works damn fast, and with right themes, it'll give you the perfect "Android" look you(someone) always wanted.
I mainly use HTC sense, but I do use SPB mobile shell quite often as well.
But to be honest, spb mobile shell is more of a fun toy to play with. real fun, though.
I would also like to know if it is considered illegal to download a copy of spb shell without paying. I don't have a problem paying especially with seeing how things work but I was just wondering if they're asking for a donation or pay to be able to put it on your phone.
I think it's good, but not better than HTC Sense.
yeh its good , better yet its the best app for wm.
it works better then sense for me.
i already use it since my touch and it works great .
customize the way you want verry easy.
SPB always offer a 15 day trial so you can give it a test drive

On the site of SPB you can download a trial. this is legal obviously. as far as i know this will work for 14 days.
have used mobile shell for a long time. fully customizable. in that view better than sense.
SPB MS is in my opinion the best shell available. But you should take some time getting to know it and customizing it to your liking; if you're looking for a quick setup you may be disappointed. Take some time and fiddle around with it and you'll end up with a wonderful shell. And, by the way, SPB have very good customer service!
Try googleing SPB Mobile Shell 5 and then have a look at some videos. Shell 5 isn't out yet, but looks absolutely fantastic.
Shell 3.5 works well for me, but I always seem to revert back to Sense UI. You could always look into Throttle Launcher, I have this too with the WM7S theme for it.
Try em and see what you think, it can't hurt to try.
Seg
yeah, spb shell is really nice and looks great.
but imho, nothing can match HTC's Sense
DN41
thanks for all the replys guys, gonna take a look this aft......
yeah thanks guys
Used spb 3.5 - waiting for spb5
I used spb mobile shell on my hd1. Since getting the hd2 I've stuck with Sense but when spb 5 is out I'll definitely be trying it - from the reviews and previews sounds like I might be replacing Sense with it.
I prefere SPB Mobile Shell and I use it.
IMHO is more customizable.
;-)

I am running SPB on my T-Mobile HD2. I disabled Sense. Most of the bugs I have had with my phone were caused by sense. Go figure. The phone responds faster now and seems to have better battery life. I am guessing it is because of the widgets in Sense.

Mmmmm, maybe I will give it a try. One time I had to hard reset my phone because my hd2 wasn't able to launch htc sense.
as much as I like spb iv gone back to sense.ill defo be trying 5 when its out though. wouldn't it be great if you could flick between the two with a button press, or did I miss something.....?
Sense 2.5 + Cookie = much better than SPB Shell 3.5. I was a SPB user on TD2 but gave it up when I upgraded to HD2.

[Q] Launchers

Hey Guys.
Since im new to the Android devices i want to know if and why you guys use a custom launcher on the Xperia play. I've done some researching and watched quite a few reviews on ADWLauncher and Launcher Pro but still cant really find why and if i should try one.
Just seems like a big hassle to me. So why and which launcher do you guys use?
- Stefan
Landscape, easier to find apps in the drawer more customizable, less memory intensive, more efficient list goes on, bottom line try launcher pro if you dont like it uninstall it
I'm using SPB 3D Shell here, which is very smooth and slick, it also looks awesome. Only downside is that it's a little bit of a memory-hog and quite expensive as well.

SPB 3d Shell does use about 10MB from the RAM right? Do you notice anything working slower?

Nope, not at all. At first it felt like it was a little laggy, but it seemed phone-wirde, and a a reboot fixed it. Since then, it runs perfectly fast and smooth. I couldn't find any decreased performance in Quadrant or N64Droid/FPSe

SPB Shell 3D Now Tablet Ready!

Well as the Header states the highly priced launcher is now ready for the tablet mainstream!
If you have already bought this beast of a launcher grab it now or buy it for a some say high price of 15.00 USD either way you wont be displeased with it!
Happy Holidays!
Well, on their FAQ page it says tablets are not supported.
http://www.spb.com/android-software/shell/faq.html
I would rather extensively try it before committing to buy. Can't find a trial...

Release history @ 12/22/11 shows "tablet support".... But, for the price I'd like a trial first.
i used a gift card to buy this not really blown away by it.
No trial.
And I like the interface I think if it had some social networks integration it would be so much better that all its missing.. for now android pro Widgets does the job

Wow that looks stunning, thanks for posting. Would u be able to share your exp regarding its responsiveness and/or lag if any? Also does installing this automatically disable the stock launcher? Im concerned about having two launchers running at the same time and eating up all the resources. Thanks in advance
The Launcher is selected by default once you press the home button.
Once set, do not run with two launcher.
No lag at the moment, very smooth
One more question mrmela, does it take long time to launch? Users sharing their experience on the Market say that it shuts down as long as you start an application and then it takes quite some time for SPB Shell to start again. Is this true?
Sorry for asking but its a bit expensive for that sort of app and I'd like to be sure it performs well. Thank you once again for the video.

Yes you can set it as the default launcher but the stock launcher will always be running in the background unless you freeze or uninstall it.

When you quit an application, it takes about 5 \ 7 seconds to reload, but not for all apps.
Keep in mind that this is the first time works on the tablet, definitely will be improved also in view of ICS .......

Wow! I first bought SPB Shell for my old WinMo **cough** phone and it was a decent launcher. When the 3d version came out, I bought it for my EVO Shift and wasn't too impressed. It looked OK on the EVO 3D, but wasn't anything special compared to the HTC Sense launcher and I thought at the time that it might be more suitable for a tablet. I just installed it on my A500 and holy crap! Eye candy for sure. If you have friends who are iPad fanboys and you want to piss in their corn flakes, just put it in carousel demo mode for them.
Peformance-wise, I noticed just a bit of lag when using live wallpaper (which they recommend against when you go to enable live wallpaper in the settings), but no lag with static wallpaper. Returning to the homescreen after exiting an app doesn't seem any slower than returning to the stock home screen. I also like the vertically scrolling, non-paginated app drawer with 3d effect.
It is kind of a bummer that SPB doesn't offer a trial or a "lite" version, but I'm glad I can finally use what I previously bought. A tablet is where the app really belongs.

When I load ADWLauncher on fresh restart the Stock Launcher is not running in the background. Im sure its the same with the SPB Shell Launcher.
If I load the Stock Launcher first then start ADWLauncher it will stay running till I stop the process.
I dont think it would be smart to freeze the Stock launcher or uninstall it. If you would happen to have a problem with your current launcher then you may be in trouble and have to reflash your rom.
At least thats what Im thinkin
Somebody want to test that theory.

What are your thoughts on SPB Shell 3D?

Its on the Android Market. I haven't bought it yet but for fifteen bucks I am going to have to atleast try it. It supposed to be a 3D interface for your phone. Anyone play with it?
Please use search before starting a new thread. You can just "revive" an old discussion and might even find some info beforehand.

i like it alot in currently useing it on my atrix yes the launcher is way overpriced but the addons i dont think cost that much its really done in great detail an awsome animations
I tested it for about ten minutes so I could still get a refund. Here is my ten minutes wroth. Animation looks good, widgets are nice and it had very little to no lag wall I was testing it. But overall I think there are a lot of other launchers that offer just as good if not better performance. For 15 bucks it's just not worth it to me. So just give it a try for ten minutes and make your own decision about it.
Its just overpriced.go launcher is better in terms of functionality
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Is a very good launcher but way too overpriced to justify spending the money.
Sent From Rob's Neutrinized ATRIX.
It's very well put together. The animations and transitions are a lot smoother than most launchers I've used. It takes a while to set everything up, since it has so many options, but I think it's worth it if you like quick access to information.
noticeably slower than moto's 2.3.x so I uninstalled it. mostly eye candy that was better than foyo but worse than gingerbread
I was super impressed when I first saw it then as I noticed that lack of config options less impressed. After waiting for it to load each time it crashed I decided it was garbage...
I was highly against this launcher due to the price and the lack of development support/ response... until a workaround was posted on mobilism... Its alright.. Quite honestly, just a bunch of hype of you ask me. It would probably be good for a WM phone since they are ugly out of the box anyway
