Stable and good battery life - XPERIA X10 General

Well, as we've seen that there are many custom roms for our X10 in development session.
Does anyone can share about which Rom is stable and Good battery life?
For me, I'm using FreeX10 from Z.
Battery life is one of the important part of smart phones.
I made this thread for newbies who don't get confuse to choose.

hard to say which is better because it depends on how you use it what apps you have.
Best way is trial and error thanks to Z flashing roms is easy and takes no time, just remember to back everything up so you can go back in you dont like it

My X10 is now saving batery !!!

Stable rom with sense and good battery life

Hi,
My girlfriend has an evo 4g and I'm looking for a stable rom with sense and good battery life. I have a galaxy S so I know a lot about those roms and I've browsed this development forum but I'd be interested to hear the voice of experience.
She doesn't understand this stuff so I want it stable. All she knows is her battery life sucks and it's really laggy. I'm hoping we can fix it.
Thanks,
JOe K.

simple read what people say every rom will act a little different on each phone
What has been your experience?

I've used EViO 2, Warm 2.2 RLS5, MikFroyo, Fresh, Kings Unleashed, Koni's Elite, Ava, Azrael and probably a few others. Minimally, you should try MikFroyo, Warm and Azrael IMHO. go to the threads and look at the screenshots to see which you like. Then pick one and try it and maybe try a couple kernels. If you don't like it, switch.
All of those have sense and should be very stable. Every phone is diff though.
I used Warm 2.2 RLS4 and 5 for quite some time with the included kernel. Always stable; no problems. Battery was reasonable--even when i spent all day in the office (weak signal), i was still fine at the end of the day.
Thanks for the input. I want to avoid flashing very often. I want to go one and done (ideally).
But you've narrowed my search considerably. What gave you the best battery life of the 3 you suggested?
Thanks,
JOe K.

im on mikZ and over 16 hours of moderate to heavy use here
had really good luck with warm2.2 too(more complete). hope this helps
EViO 2 gave me the best battery life by far. I didn't use any of the others long enough to tell other than MikFroyo which was also good. I would just pick Myn's Warm or MikFroyo, whichever you like best. Those are the two most popular.
I'd give Sprint Lovers a shot. As close to stock as you can get with everthing functioning. Then try out some of the netarchy kernels. Remember to backup before flashing any kernel. I've tried CM and Warm Z, but keep going back to SL.

Hi everybody,
as new user I cant post on the right post. So I ask you directly
I would like to test the new 2.3 with the Wolf's TW GB (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988) but I saw some people who had problems with battery autonomy.
I run, right now, the 2.1.A.0.435 and I'm really satisfied about the battery. My X10 is on for 40 hours and I got 74% battery. Yes, I don't use it very much but it's enough for me.
So I wanna know how the battery usage is with the Wolf's rom and if I can test it without being disappointed.
P.S.: sorry for my ugly english
I cant speak for all users but my battery drains very fast. I dont know why, but might its because I often use wifi and my screen brightness is set to maximum.

Doooooooh, using wifi and screen brightness to the fullest drain battery. on my side i can tell you that wolf's rom with the hotfix is perfect. I can go through the day easy with screen brightness to half, no wifi, im on 3g all time, listening 2 hours a day some music while playing Asphalt 5 on my way to work. So yes battery is ok as long as you don't use to much wifi and bluetooth.

from what ive learned in the year or so ive been using android phones is that everyones battery experience is different. I find 3g drains my battery and wifi doesnt. All you can do is try it for yourself.
Wolf's TW battery is suburb for me ;-) i moderately use my wifi, Bluetooth, brightness, etc.
After 17hrs of slightly heavy using its 61%

May I ask a question, with all due respect to everybody's work?
Why would you use a modified stock ROM,
be it WB's or anyone elses, since we have root, which means that you can tweak the stock ROM to your needs?
I mean, it's one thing to have CM ROMs or MiUI ROMs or vanilla Android,
but a modified stock ROM is still stock people!
I much prefer to make tweaks on my own, remove what I don't need, etc.
Just my 2 cents.
Again, I mean no disrespect, WB has been doing an elaborate job on his ROMs.
my battery lasts twice with 2.33, (i was before on WB froyo), with normal use 16 hours 50% at the end of my long day.
so battery life is awesome, i think is becouse is not as smooth in some games and apps.

not everyone can invest the time to learn the tweaks, and WB is based on CM isnt it? anyways i am loving the battery on my stock GB, will probably root it to get titanium to work and remove some of the bloatware, Ive used WB 2.2 but the battery really sucked, tried alot of BBs but didnt manage to fix the drain
You should really try-out this ROM. It has speed tweaks/battery tweaks ported from another devices. This is the only ROM for the x10 with these tweaks.
I am using WB's rom with FIX005. The battery not drain very fast.
At least I can use it for whole day.

+1 to that and no, wb's 2.3 is based on stock 2.3.

Yeah, but learning how to mod your phone is half the fun!!
Anyway, it's good that there are options and I know WB makes really
fast ROMs, his 2.2 was very snappy and stable.
However, what I've been trying to point out is that WB's 2.3.3
is not CM, it's stock SE ROM, tweaked.

I would try WB's ROM, but I'd like to keep my RAM management more balanced and flexible, because I need a lot of apps to run in the background and not being killed.
Anyway, again, no offence to anybody.
As always, Wolfbreak, great job!

I can tell you that there are there alot of apps in the background running that are not being killed. Much more then on Froyo/Eclair. So what stops you from trying it out?!
The most important ones I got running are:
- WhatsApp
- MSN Talk Pro
- Google Talk
- Facebook
- Seesmic
- LiveProfile
- KikMessenger
- Skype
- Viber
- Data Monitor
- DSP Manager
- Equalizer
- SwiftKey
- Widgetsoid
- Beautifull Widgets
And much more...
And none of them have ever been killed, they all worked fine! Battery life is also great! They are always running in the background. (If in your case the apps are being killed to fast, there is a way to tune it down to what you want!!)

Can you give me tweaking lessons please? I only know how to use autokiller optimiser, but don't know any other apps..
on 2.2 tw 009 the phone keep working for almost 4 days of normal usage, now on 2.3 tw 005 it acts weird, sometimes it looses 20% in 1hour, but average it keeps for 2 days
Hey in hotfix5 there is GoogleTalk1.3 which support videochat. Does this work on the x10?
Edit: Doesnt work, I always get a fc when i klick on the camera-symbol
I will test that, right now
Thanks all
3 hours unplugged, and little to no use, and my phone is down 40%
So my phone is using way more power than it had under 2.1 I'm going to guess that it has to do with the baseband, and localization for me.
I switched from Wolf's 2.2 / 009 to 2.3 / 005 on my business phone. 3 hrs music per day (that's the time I need from home to office) many phone calls, gaming, testing, playing. I've to charge once a day. Think that is not to bad.

hi,
i'm looking for a great rom.
i don't want to flash my phone 20. times .....
actually i use Villain Rom Froyd1.7.3 but i'm not very happy about battery life.
has anyone good experience with a costum rom concerning battery life?
Try Floyo 1.2 with flykernel.

HTX Zero .21 is working almost perfectly for me, with awesome battery life (on my very old Hero)….but it has 3 issues. (that don't bother me AT ALL, and might be why batt life is so good)
3G goes off when you haven't used the phone in a while…(i.e when I wake up in the am)
Weather doesn't push automatically (if you're a true sense lover like me)
Gmail also doesn't push automatically.
But so far I just made a "mobile connection" shortcut..1 click and I'm back in business. However, this is probably why I have such awesome battery life...
After couple good roms I must admit that I'm only with our little Hero thank's to Decked_X

Battery life in different roms

Please post your battery life in stock marshmallow, stock nougut,RR,AICP and other roms.
So we can compare them.

There is really nothing one size fits all kind of thing. Try these different ROMs for yourself to see what works best for you. It's hard to see which has better battery life since different users will have different usage stats.
I have to agree... One person might get great battery on RR and terrible on AICP, the next person the opposite. The only to really tell which one gets the best battery in your situation is to try them.
Data is too scattered to determine which ROM provides the best battery life. You see people getting all day battery life with different kernels, tweaks, usage, etc

I'm not trying to bash your post but TBH, any comparison you make from others is practically useless. As mentioned, people have different experiences on custom ROMs. One specific ROM might have excellent battery life on one phone and have horrible battery life on another of the same model. But there is an even more important factor that makes comparing across ROMs just as useless... Everyone uses their phone differently. Not just with apps they install, but with the features of a ROM they they decide to enable or not.
On that note, if you are considering a custom ROM, the best way to determine if it is right for you is simply to try them. Make backups that way you can revert back to the one you decide is best.
I know that every user use their phone differently. I don't know what made you guys think i don't know that. But what i am trying to compare is not overall battery life but battery life based on individual usage. Like when some one use that rom for only calls and get a lot of stand by time how much battery it drains. from that i can know how much battery it drains when kept idle. Same goes for using wifi or using mobile data , watching YouTube or reading PDF. I want to know how much battery that rom uses on what usage.
Sorry for my bad English. I hope you guys can understand what i am trying to say.

I understand this. But I think it would be easier to try for yourself, because to get say, me to try say 4 different ROMs, same usage, and then report back to you would be more time consuming than you trying for yourself.
I know you know that every user is different but the same user trying different ROMs for you just doesn't make sense.

Referencing individual usage as you have, along with any specific ROM across devices, you are not going to get consistent results. I understand you are trying to consolidate this data on one post, but there are to many variables involved.
To highlight: I could run AICP on my XT1575 with a clean install and no extra apps installed and make only calls and I might get excellent battery life on standby. But another XT1575 owner can do the exact same setup, make the same number and times of calls and get horrible battery life. This pretty much goes for any custom ROM, especially those not based on stock. This does not even account for differences in MM vs N. This also does not account for an update to a ROM screwing up battery life and the next one may fix it (which is relatively common). I've even seen where someone gets great battery life up to a certain update and thereafter it sucks, but another can experience the opposite.
And once again, individual usage still matters as individuals will have different apps installed, which can take up varying amounts of battery depending on background processes and syncing. This affects standby time and SOT to some degree. Also do not forget that the chipset on this phone is prone to negative affects on battery depending on cell signal strength, so that is another kink in observing and comparing battery life across users.
Ultimately, the best way to determine what gives you the best battery life is too rest ROMs for yourself and your specific usages.

Yes ok. So we should be on the same page about different users using their devices differently. So if user A posts about say ROM B, and user B posts about ROM A, you know you can't compare. I would post my stats with RR but you couldn't compare to someone posting AICP stats as we are different users. The only way to be even somewhat accurate would be to get the same user to try different ROMs. Which you can do. Honestly just try the different ROMs! I will say with my experience though DU has not had the greatest battery life.

Well said!
@yk1999 As stated above as well as in my post, you just can't compare experiences of users across multiple devices and ROMs as there are to many variables involved. We understand what you are asking and we are telling you that there is only one way for you to get the information you are looking for. The only way for you to figure out what will have the best battery life in YOUR situation (how a ROM operates on YOUR specific device, YOUR selection of apps, and YOUR specific usage scenarios) is to test the ROMs for yourself.
Maybe there should be an app saving battery stats for the current ROM (internal storage or personal cloud), and comparing these personal stats with previous stats made when you had another ROM installed.
Of course there are other variables that affect the battery stats (like the apps installed, or the apps you actually open in a battery cycle) but at least the app would be able to list and compare battery stats on the same device and user.
Ie, I imagine a list like:
- ROM R1. Kernel K1. X1 apps installed. Battery rate: BR1
- ROM R1. Kernel K2. X1 apps installed. Battery rate: BR2
- ROM R2. Kernel K1. X1 apps installed. Battery rate: BR3
...
It could be able to group by Android version,...
I haven't found an app doing this. Do you know an app doing it? And, do you think this app would make any sense?

Wich rom for great life battery?

Hello guys everything is in the title. I 'm looking for a rom wich give a very good life for battery.
Thanks for answer.
Hi,
It's not a good thing to ask for best ROM for xxxx reason. Everyone has different usage patterns and different needs, so that different ROM will suit them or you better.
You can instead, open the main ROM threads (both in Android and Original Android Development for S7 Edge) and see what the latest posts are complaining and what they are talking about what's good and what's bad about the ROM. Usually some users even post screenshots of their battery usage screen.
Another option is to go to a "How's Battery Life" or something like that thread and check what usage is similar to yours and what ROM the person reporting the battery life used.
All the best,
~Lord
