Hi, i downlaoded this release: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823491
The rom runs fine etc. but theres no .img data in it, so i downlaoded 1 from another build (does this matter?)
So i saved the file under sd/Android/1gb.img like i always did with the SD-Card releases, but nothing changed.
Any ideas what im doing wrong? id be happy about some suggestions.

For NAND BUILDS you don't need any data img.. only for SD

sry for the wrong section, but i actually DO need an img data, cause my phone is already full, and theres nothing left i can move to the SD card and i cant recieve any more SMS because of it
correct me if i'm wrong but as far as i know the data.img is meant for emulating the phones internal storage respective the nand memory. it reserves a part of your sd - depending on the sice of your data.img.
since a nand version is stored in the phones nand (0o) there is no more need of emulating/reserving an internal storage on sd, thus, the old data.img is useless.
i have not flashed a nand version yet but i guess titanium backup will do the job from sd to nand version as well.
ya.... but my angry birds (and seasons) gets a FC after restore to NAND build
HD2ONE has a nand test build which supports data.img on SD. i'm testing it now, and while it seems stable, I think you sacrifice some of the nand benefits (boot time, download speed). System Monitor shows heavy activity in the loop0 process.
I think now there's only one NAND ROM support data.img. You can test it here:

I don't know about you guys, but I love dual booting WP7 from NAND and Android from SD; however, I miss the great functionality of CWM for my Android build. With that said, is there a modified version o CWM that can be installed to the SD card? Before you say I'm crazy, when I used the G-Tab they had developed a modified version that installed to the internal SD card rather than the internal storage. Has this been attempted, or is this possible? I also realize that it would have to be modified to update the system.ext2 rather than looking for the /system partition, and it would also have to backup the data.img, rather than creating one from a /data partition. I just thought it might be possible with all our talented devs.
Sorry if this has already been asked--I searched all over Google to see if it had been attempted or anything.

Is there a way to move from a working SD build to this NativeSD build without losing everything? I imagine it can be done with TitaniumBackup but I wonder if I could somehow simply copy the contents of the *.ext4 files to the new EXT4 partition somewhere?

If you are already using an ext 4 for app2sd on your nand ..don't worry ...you can install native SD rom without problem ..and not losing data..native SD rom files get installed in a folder called native SD and your nand rom files are on the root of the ext 4..so you can have both using the same ext4
If you are using an SD build ..that means your files are on fat32 part...copy that..make a back up on PC..make SD ext 4 partition ...install native SD build ...copy back the backup on fat32 portion and you are good to go...you can have both

Thank you. I am currently using an SD build, my SD card is FAT32-formatted. Are you saying that all I need to to do is backup everything from the SD card to my PC, repartition to FAT32 + EXT4, copy back to the FAT32 and install the NativeSD build to the EXT4 partition? Will the new NativeSD build use the data from my existing data.ext4 automatically somehow?

I don't have files on ext4, but I have "system.ext4" and "data.ext4" in my Android dir on the SD card.

Hello Hacker4748,
I would recommend to create a fresh data.ext4 from your NativeSD build once it is installed. I also recommend strongly to format your SD card after you copied its content to your PC. Don't use fast format! The formating procedure will take it's time but otherwise you might get problems with installation and/or battery consumption.

It can be done easily with TitaniumBackup. Keep the working SD build in FAT32 and TB will use this info to restore your apps, data and xml (calls, sms etc).
TB will not restore the icons - some loaders may allow you to backup and restore settings.

the first part is correct....
the native sd is like a new rom..it will not touch your apps from the fat32 part of old rom...you need to install apps again on the native sd rom ..you can use titanium backup on your old sd rom, and install them all on your new NSD rom using Titanium backup (fat 32 part is shared folders for both builds..so camera pics or wallpapers from zedge and like are shared on both builds)

Thank you. So basically, If I understand correctly, the EXT4 partition on the SD card will basically be what the System.ext4 and Data.ext4 files are now and the "Android" or "ICS" folder will not be required anymore. Thus the EXT4 partition should be around 1,5 GB and the rest can be FAT32.
It is recommended to use a fresh Data.ext4 for installation (or to let the system create one from scratch) and not the existing one from my currently used SD build.
To backup and restore TitaniumBackup is recommended.
Anything I am missing?

Ext4 of the native sd works similar to data.IMG file.. of old sd build method.

Migrate SD install to NativeSD
I have the same question but can't quite relate the answers to what I have on my memory card. I have a (mostly) working copy of 2.3.7 that I've been using for some time, but often have problems after connecting the phone to a computer - sometimes files added to the SD fat32 partition don't show up, or my ringtone on the SD doesn't work or .... So I was also wondering whether rather than install a fresh setup on NativeSD and reload all the apps (tried twice with 4.x versions and neither are happy) I could just move my SD install to NativeSD.
In the /Android folder I have kernel files, the large data filesystem, a smaller system one and some other stuff. Under /NativeSD I also have some kernel files and 2 folders, one for each attempt at a NativeSD install. I understand some of what's in startup.txt but it doesn't appear to be enough. I guess there must be things in the SD builds which tell the phone where to find data and system which would need changing? Is this possible?

One statement is not correct: you WILL have to have an "Android" folder as it holds a data folder for many apps. Also you may want to read through my lengthy posts in the [GUIDE] NativeSD for Windows Mobile (WM6.5) New Users that I wrote (good info even for non WM NativeSD users).
Your statement "It is recommended to use a fresh Data.ext4 for installation" does not make sense for NativeSD. You can keep your current SD build and still use it. For NativeSD, the EXT4 Partition has a folder for data. That is why NativeSD is faster - it uses the SD card, rather than a file.

Useful guide - thanks - but the question remains - is it possible to move/copy an SD install to run from a NativeSD partition. I can see the folder in the ext4 partition named after the install, and the data and system folders in that. I can extract the data and system files from /Android into those easy enough. Question is, what to call the folder, and how to make the bootloader use it? Do I just move the kernel files to the NativeSD folder? What goes in startup.txt?
I've tried mr-evil1's EvoHD2 V10 but had the problem of it losing then re-detecting the sim card and needing a reboot. Thought it was a bit slow too even though it was on a Class 10 16 GB Samsung MicroSD card. That's why I'm wondering if I can just move my Gingerbread install across.

How is the NativeSD ROM work?
The easiest is to backup your apps and data (e.g. Titanium Backup), flash the new NativeSD ROM and then restore your apps. I would recommend Xylographs PACman or one of Tytung ROMs:

Tried the 4.0.4 one but found it too slow to be usable. Then found a NativeSD version of the AmeriCanAndroid 2.3.7 release I'd been using before so installed that and added my apps back. Speed and usability are good. Do any of the 4.1.2 ports run at an acceptable speed on the good old HD2?

My experience is, all speed and comfort of NativeSD depend on your sd card.
If you have card with good random r/w speed then you just need to test which custom roms fits you.
If you have card with bad slow random r/w speed(not class, normal speeed etc) then my advice is do alot xda and internet search for fast sd card with good random r/w. When you find good sd card allways try to buy exact model, cause even small difference in model number makes big difference in random r/w.
Atm sd card manufacturers doesnt provide full info about speeed except normal read and write so expect alot time energy spend on research.
Htc hd2 how is getting older he will need more and more investment and sd card will be crucial one.

It's alredy my second thread for today, all problems, wow.
So I will try to explain, like in the thread before, I got HTC HD2 and I have Mdeejay eVo on my sd card and I launch Android from WM6.5.
The Android which I use have already the data_1024 folder, inside data.IMG file which it use for storage the Androids apps, but from my research I find the news to some how edit my microsd card and set-up a Partition which be the sobstitute of the data_1024.
I will be glad to know HOW?
Like I said, I got my Android on sd and I try for a week to find the solution with no success, I try to make a ext3 partition on sd of 2048mb but the android do not see that partition. I can't flash anything because on my ROM is WM 6.5.
I also will be glad to make another data_2048 folder with inside data.IMG file, if the Partition can't be done.
Please guys let me know how do I have set-up the partition for the Android?

hmmm not really sure here, but you can make a back up of your SD card then use minitool partition to partition & create EXt3/ Ext 4 / Fat 32 partitions, try the links below they might help

before post here I already saw your thread and like I said I do not have MALGDR on my phone or CWM, also I don't know which type of partition need my Android but I am sure is not the last type of Androids which they have the folders; kernel, META-INF, sdcard (inside NativeSD) and system folder. My Android is whit rootfs.img with external data_1024 folder for storage system.
I used Gparted live and I made a partition of 2048mb of ext3 partition but the Android do not see the partition because somehow I can't make a link to it.
I want more storage for my Android and delete data_1024 folder so I try to figure out, with some help, how to do that?
Any ideas?

So I do not need a special partition for my android, good to know.
I know the last Nand Androids are good but I have old phone with old Android and he work fine, I try to put Native SD Android on my sd but too complicated and I do not have so much time. At the moment I find Mdeejay very fast and good, I tryed AmeriCan Android, CM7 and 10 and really I am not comfortable with them like with Mdeejay, so it's ok like that. ! problem solver, I just try to update my kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976835 - and I am ok.

End of the Party, Guys, I was happy to soon!
I used toposize to made data.img for my android but I got problems.
If I resize data.img system partition, first of all, I got the error on e2fsck (see the pic) and i have to click ok to compleate the operation and after that I put the data.img into Anrdoid forlder and I replace the original (backups before) but the Android do not turn on, he stuck in HTC Logo.
If I made a clean data.img with ext3 system partition and I replace the data.img into the Android folder, he do not turn on and he stuck in Android logo.
If I use the original data.img from the package the Android turn on normally.
Do I forgot to do something? Do I missing something?

you are keeping data .img in a folder?...data.img should be in android folder..no further subfolders...and delete that stupid ext3 partition..you dont need it.
try native sd..it is very simple (for you to dual boot with windows mobile):
you need ext4 partition..use minitool partition manager to create it
then put selected rom zip (like pacman hd2 rom..."the best rom") on sd card
put 4ext recovery folder on sd card..open it , click clcrad and haret inside...follow screen instructions to install rom
Reboot and boot the ROM by executing the usual clcrad and haret stuff inside the NativeSD folder.

ohh, well, yes, the data.img is in Android folder, not subfolders or external folders, I said so because in my package of Mdeejay are 2 folders, Android and data_1024. The data_1024 is all ready done to make a fast boot instantly but if I do not use it Android make the clean data into his root folder.
About the partition you get confused a little bit because when I used toporesize to made a clean data.img file to use it in android folder, the app ask me in which system the file have to be, ext2, ext3 or NONE. So no 1 of this data.img worked.
I hope I clarifide, I do not have ext3 partition on sd, is the data.img. that's all.

I don't know about that, currently I have a working Android (not jet set-up like I want too) but I will see if I sholud do all this stuff. I am not so deep in this stuuf and just reach when I reach now, get me tired. So I take in the consideration you advice but now I have to have 1 android working well.
Ok, some bad news:
I did in different way to set-up my storage image, I let Android to made a clean data.img into his folder, after he finished installation and start running well I take the data.img of 1GB and with toposize I resize the image to 3GB. Like I said before, he give me this crap error but I really do not understand why? If Android made a clean data.img in his folder which errors can be made?
So I click ok anyway and made this file and I replaced the 1GB with 3GB with unclarifide done error fix.
He works for feew hours, smooth and fast, I start installing appps and games. Like many games they ask for downloading some updated files so I start downloading 450mb for 1 game and after 20 minuts Android crashed and he do not turn on anymore, he stuck in Android logo.
Are you sure this crap "TOPOSIZE" working? or it's just ME?

Hi all. i've tried this partition sheme, just because my sd is too small.
My question is. Can i use any rom with this partition with the sd just for downloads and photos?
I've installed the last oneio aurora SP, and when I boot the device without the SD, i icon always appears saying that the sd is corrupted or something. I know this is because the rom dont find the emmc partition (the default 2gb internal). I just want to know if i can do something to prevente this to happening. Like delete the mountpoints or something.
