Will the EVO 4G hardware be close enough to the HD2 for it to help the Android on HTC project to put Android on the HD2? Any thoughts?

indeed thats the question we are all waiting for the answer to..
lets hope it helps..
An interesting concept, there are those that are asking if Windows Phone7 is going to work with the HTC HD2 as well. Be nice if we could choose either. The HD2 is a lovely piece of kit.
when is the evo actually out? nobody got a whiff of a leaked rom?
got an hd2 myself, would love to get android
work it will not
incompatible the drivers will be
hmmm... porting winmo gsm radio driver to android, much trouble it will be.
impossible it is not, but long journey I see for you.

Joke you did get, much funny it was.
Complete my goal is
May the force be with you
I'm not so sure about this....
With the Evo not coming to UK waters and no other screen size planned this side of the pond the ROM on the HD2 may well be the only answer.
However, lets not forget.. the Evo has a lot inside which will be different to the HD2 and these short comings won't make the HD2 an Evo in disguise.
It may end up being a sheep in wolf's clothing.
I don't think you'll see it because of driver issues but if enough people want it anything is possible.

Heres my 2 cents. If they already managed to port android for iphone then hell yeah its gonna happen. who would have thought that the iphone was gonna get android.

Tell that to Winterboard and AndroidLock. But yes, theming isn't supported natively.
However the iPhone port of Android is an actual native port, loaded using OpeniBoot, a custom "iBoot"-style bootloader. And you thought the HTCSPL system was tricky...

Belated, but May the Fourth be with you.
I find it quite unlikely. Developers are still trying to get Android EMULATED, not installed, on the Touch Pro, and that version still suffers from poor battery life and frequent errors.
You can't just drag and drop ROMS from completely different operating systems onto different phones; otherwise, all phones would be sold without an OS installed.
The two phones may be similar in regards to features, but the insides are completely different. For example, the Evo has a maXTouch sensor, while the HD2 does not. So, while you may be able to get Android emulated on the HD2, it doesn't look like it's going to be very possible to transform it into an Evo by giving it the latter's ROM.

Since i've got android on my Sprint Vogue, i'd say it's possible if the right people want it to happen.
I mean all the way AOSP? I miss the Roms that were available for my G1...I thought the SenseUI would be awesome to have, but seriously...it actually sucks.
Yeah. There's AOSP 1.6, and DarchDroid is based off of AOSP 2.1. Do a search next time....
an all asop rom is not fully possible yet, theres a few out there but the camera doesnt work and a few other things but thats because they cant fix that until the official 2.1 comes out then we will have our fully aosp, theres darch vanilla, and darch droid, but a few things are missing as i stated above, if you are like me and you want a fully functionable aosp rom just wait until this update comes out then my friend we score, i hate sense, it blows...............ive been waiting for this a long time....dont even bother with the old aosp roms i mean their good but not 100%

Here's the big answer to your question. All AOSP roms ARE possible. They just don't have all the functionality of Sense ROMs. DarchVanilla, or the link in my sig, will get you as close to aosp as you can get without breaking functionality.

And might I add it's all HTCs fault because they won't release the .29 kernel source and their massive amount of modification to it disallows the ability to just port over a .29 kernel as it is... What Android was all about in the first place.

No prob.
This is probably a stupid question but I was just curious. I know the rooting procedure is nearly identical for both so I thought I would ask.
With my MT3G I would often look through the G1 section for ROMs, wondering if it will be the same way here?

Most of the roms in the magic forum were geared toward 32a anyway, but i don't anticipate that being an issue with mt4g. Let's see what happens.
Please post questions in Q&A section. Thanks
in that case can we go even further to ask if the the kernels for overclocking the g2 will work with the mt4g?..

Why not?
But dude seriously, how fast do you need it to go?! I can run Navi, Pandora, messaging, voice search, etc., all at once and it still doesn't lag. Wtf are you doing with your phone?

lol, yup. I overclock the **** out of my mt3g, but that's because it desperately needs it. Just flashed ezterry's 614 kernel the other night, and wow, what an improvement. It's still slow, but not nearly as bad as it was.
Once I have a clean version of Android on the mt4g (CM6 or anything without sense) I can't imagine I'll ever need to overclock.

That's true. When I first OC'd my mt3g to 245-528, it ran much faster and battery life actually improved significantly. Why in the HELL they didn't set it that way from the factory is beyond me.
Title says it all...
I use mine everyday, and at my age, that's saying something!!
Cool. How is it? Worth me flashing it?
Sent from my EVO 3D Test model. yes I work with sprint
Only one way to find out, I am about to try it myself
I would recommend not flashing it, as it says it's meant for the Incredible, not the Evo.

I flashed, its DL my apps now Seemed somewhat smooth, though I use launcherPro anyway. It looks like AOSP not a CM rip off like I have read, but I may be wrong...
edit...I do NOT have a toggle for 4G anywhere!!! A deal breaker for most
Back 2 CM7 it is
What's the point of using this rom when we have cm7 ....? Just curious.

The way I see it is CM keeps adding and adding stuff, rather than perfecting. I personally flashed back to CM, but once a true AOSP come out it on!
edit...just want to add that since the merge of 2.3.3 battery is worse, and reboots take longer, speaking of CM7 of course.
Has anyone thought about getting touchwiz 4.0 to work on the mytouch 4g, I tried using the touchwiz launcher but it's really buggy. So it a possibility?

Nah, won't work for the same reasons that Sense will never work for the Galazy S line. Just compatibility issues.

Thats not true. the dependencies can be added the same way they are take out.
It would just take alot of time, work, and research to get it working.
You would have to know what files are needed, and where they go.
Also, kernel compatability may also be an issue, as you see that there are certain kernels for AOSP, Sense, GB, etc...

Technically it's possible, but practically it's impossible. The amount of work and "hacking" necessary would not be worth it, especially considering how few HTC users would probably want TouchWiz.

Not even close to impossible.
Anyways, the question was if its possible. The answer is yes.
Will it happen? Not likely lol because its way too much work and like you said, teejay, there really is no demand for it.
