[Q] Flashing CWM 2.5.1.3 - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, I flashed a Gingerbread ROM and updated to CWM 3.0.0.5. However I want to recover back to my old stock and I can't. When I go to the "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" in ROM Manager and try to flash back to 2.5.1.3 or 2.5.1.4 it says "An error occurred while flashing your recovery."
My question is can someone point me in the direction to find the 2.5.1.3 and 2.5.1.4 (just in case) images so I can manually flash them?
Thank you.

Try flashing 2.5.1.2?

You can flash 3.0.0.6 which allows you to flash between froyo and gingerbread. It is available in the android development section.

[Q] Help Please recovery problems rooted stock rom

Okay, so where to start...
I have a MT4G (of course) i love it dont get me wrongand wanted to mess around with it. i permarooted it via VISONary + and everything was working fine. i wanted to flash a different kernal and wanted to do a nandoird backup before i did anything else. but i needed clockwork to do this (correct me please if im wrong) so i downloaded rom manager flashed it. and went to boot into recovery and it does this icon with a phone and a "!" on the screen...it cant boot into recovery. and i dont know why, and now i just want to go back to my stock recovery but i cant cause i dont know how. ive tried terminal commands... and i tried to learn adb and fastboot but am very lost. basically i want a nandroid of my rooted stock ROM... any help would be much appreciated
The reason is because you need to turn s=off for any of those to work.

Read the guides.
1. The phone with the red triangle icon is from the stock Recovery program. Stock recovery does nothing except show you that screen, unless a special file is found on the SD card, used for a complete system restore. Your flash of ClockworkMod Recovery was unsuccessful.
2. When you do go get past the S=Off phase, and are ready to once again attempt to install CWM Recovery, be sure you install the CORRECT version. CWMR 3.0.0.5 is for Gingerbread (Android 2.3) based ROMs only! Don't install 3.0.0.5 expecting it to function properly for the Stock ROM, for Iced Glacier, or any other Froyo (Android 2.2) based ROMs. Those all require CWMR 2.x. A higher version number does not mean better. For example, if you are planning to install CM7, back up with CWMR 2.x, then flash CWMR 3.x before installing CM7.
(There is a special, unique to MT4G version of CWMR that handles both Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs, called "3.0.0.6". You can find threads on it in the Development subforum.)

[Q] Clockwork 3.0.0.6

I am trying to get the Clockwork 3.0.0.6 update so that i can flash RoyalGinger, but it doesn't seem to be working. I follow each and every step on true_blue's guide, but it stays on Clockwork 3.0.0.5. Can anyone walk me through how to get clockwork 3.0.0.6 please? I really want to try out the Royal ROMs. I am currently on iced glacier 1.1.6.

it will say that it is 3.0.0.5 in rom manager, but as soon as you boot into recovery it should say 3.0.0.6
Are you looking at the list of recoveries at the bottom of Rom Manager? It will still say 3.0.0.5. Check that option then reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery. Does it say v3.0.0.5 or .6?

Not trying to hijack, but with 3.0.0.6 you can flash back and forth between froyo and ginger right from the recovery screen correct?

ye sir, that is correct
Alright, I'm a noob, but I will try to help. After you installed the zip you opened rom manager, scrolled all the way down to All Clockwork Mod recoveries, and reflashed 3.0.0.5 correct? I actually just flashed this about an hour ago and it worked fine.

try selecting one of the other recoveries and then go back to the 3.0.0.5 and then boot into recovery... idk why it isnt working for you as this is tried and true
or you can try one of the methods in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919834
and you downloaded the new flashable file from the thread right? I had one in my downloads on my pc that I tried to flash today but it didn't work because CWM was updated, so I had to download true's latest. it was just updated two days ago.

Why would you want to do that? FYI, 3.0.0.6 can flash both Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs.

Their are a few ways you can do it
1) download and flash 3.0.0.6 via ADB.
2) open Clockwork ROM manager > scroll to the bottom > all recovery > flash it
3) download and flash the recovery image you are wanting via ADB.
I got it thanks you guys but there is now a way to just flash it with out adb

2.5.x.x is for Froyo ROMs. 3.0.0.5 is for Gingerbread ROMs. 3.0.0.6 is for both. If you want to restore a backup of T-Bolt or Iced Glacier, you'll need 2.5.x.x or 3.0.0.6. If you want to flash or restore a backup of CM7, you'll need 3.0.0.5 or 3.0.0.6. Obviously, 3.0.0.6 is preferred because you can switch to that and forget having to worry about recovery images anymore!

Recovery 2.5.1.2?

Have latest clockwork but 2.5.1.2 is no longer there. Will 3.0.2.4 flash both stock and ginger backups?

There are links to it in the development section. Just use adb and push it over.

FYI, I don't think there's a situation in which you "need" 2.5.1.2. 3.0.2.4 can flash anything, including restoring Nandroid backups made with earlier versions of CWM.

I just made another thread about this, probably shouldn't have. I'm trying to install one of pack's battery mods, and it keeps aborting. Thought I needed 2.5.1.2, that's what they said on the mod thread, but after reading your comment flashed 3.0.2.4, then tried installing the battery mod through that, and it still aborted. Any ideas?
EDIT: should point out that while trying to flash any 2.x version of Clockwork through "Other ClockworkMod Recoveries" it says "error flashing recovery" every time...can't do it with 3.x and can't flash 2.x. Argh.

That's because theres no real 2.5.1.3
Get a copy of 2.5.1.2 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978038
What I did was go through the clockworkmod folder on my SD card and found the folder with the recoveries in it. I then got the copy of the 2.5.1.2 img and placed it in that folder and renamed it to 2.5.1.3 so that it can be flashed through Rom manager.

Thanks a lot for the tip! I've downloaded the .zip, extracted the .img file and placed it into the recovery folder in the clockwork folder on my sd card. I then renamed it to 2.5.1.4 as the only 2.x options I have under the "Other Clockworkmod Recoveries" menu are 2.5.1.4 and 2.5.1.3. But when I try to flash 2.5.1.4 it still says "error occurred while flashing your recovery" - this one has me stumped!

Rooted ROM in PC36IMG.zip format

I need to find a rooted rom in PC36IMG.zip format. I screwed up unrooting my phone, I needed to take it into sprint. I still have S-Off but I can't get my computer to see my Evo. If I can get a rooted rom in PC36IMG.zip format I can rom manager installed and its recovery and get my nandroid backup flashed.
Thanks for any help
Why don't you get a PC36IMG of your recovery instead, so you can then flash whatever rom you want or recover your backup?
