I need to find a rooted rom in PC36IMG.zip format. I screwed up unrooting my phone, I needed to take it into sprint. I still have S-Off but I can't get my computer to see my Evo. If I can get a rooted rom in PC36IMG.zip format I can rom manager installed and its recovery and get my nandroid backup flashed.
Thanks for any help
Why don't you get a PC36IMG of your recovery instead, so you can then flash whatever rom you want or recover your backup?

Absolutely! The newest version supports sd-ext partitions.
I would even suggest you try out ClockWorkMod's recovery.
Just install Rom Manager from market and flash through that.
Alright =]
So what is the latest image? And is rom manager safe?

Well I flashed to the clock recovery rom and it didn't boot into recovery mode so I then flashed to RA 1.7 and it works fine.
So is there a big difference? Is the clock recovery better than amon RA?

clockwork recovery allows you to use the Rom Manager app to manage your backups, rename backups, download and flash rom updates (such as CM 5.0.8) and it automatically informs you of any new recovery updates (which are VERY frequent). The only problem is that if you use the MyTouch you need to know which one to install. The three recovery options are:
MyTouch 3G/Ion (for 32B and Fender/1.2 devices)
MyTouch 3G/Magic (for 32A)
Dream/G1
If you flash the wrong one you will not have access to recovery.
So I reflashed to the clock recovery rom and I like it better than amon RA. Thanks for all your help.

Have in mind that ClockWorkMod & Rom Manager are under heavy development and get updated frequently. Occasionally after a flash update you might not be able to get into recovery so always test it.
If the first flash fails don't worry just reflash the same recovery (2nd flash works every time)
I had a Samsung Vibrant before selling it and getting the MT4G. On the Vibrant, when you flashed recovery from Rom Manager, it put an update.zip file on the root of the internal zip. That is not the case when flashing recovery from MT4G.
Where is the image file for CW recovery located? I'm not talking about nandroid backup but the actual recovery flash image

Recovery doesn't work that way on phones other than the vibrant. The recovery is written to the phone and doesn't need to be applied at every reboot.
That being said,
The recovery.img is located in /sdcard/clockworkmod/download/koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/
Ok thanks for clarifying that.
One more question, if I wanted to go back to complete stock rom, kernel, radio, I downloaded a *.img file from xda forum, not a clockwork flashable zip. Do you know of a clockwork flashable zip that has stock rom 2.1.1, radio, and modem? I tried finding one but all I could find was an image to be put on root of sd, renamed, and then flashed with hboot.
Thanks again for your response

TheUnlockr did have a barebones stock Nandroid back up on their site. that is flash-able via the Clockwork Restore protocol... Yea yea yea i know posting nandroids are dangerous. What they did was pull out a new MyTouchHD not install the SIM card and start the phone up. Flashed a recovery image via ADB then pulled the nanadroid back up off the SD card.
With that being said there are few of them floating around here. I know i have one in my Google Docs. If someone needs it please PM me.
Granted this doesn't put everything back to a stock format, like the OP requested, but it does give you a HTC MySense ROM. If one should lose their Nandroid back up.

Does this flashable restore point include the original radio and kernel as well. I know that a typical nandroid backup does not include the radio or kernel. Thanks for helping

There's your problem.
ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.5 is for Gingerbread-based (Android 2.3) ROMs. Evil 4G is a Froyo-based (Android 2.2) ROM. These different versions of Android use incompatible filesystems.
How to recover:
1. Download CyanogenMod 7, a Gingerbread-based ROM, to your PC. Choose the newest release candidate (RC2) or the most recently Nightly build.
2. Boot into CWM Recovery, select "mounts and storage" and make your SD card mountable via USB.
3. Copy the CM7 .zip file to your SD card.
4. Install the .zip after a full wipe / factory reset
5. If you want to stay with CM7, also download the Google Applications (Gapps) .zip to your PC, copy to your SD card and and install it after you complete the install of CM7.
6. Boot CM7.
7. If you want to install Evil 4G, run Rom Manager and have it flash CWM Recovery 2.5.1.2, then reboot into Recovery, full wipe / factory reset, and install Evil as previously planned.
Thanks Ill get on it....
So could I just get CM7 on there then get an older version of clockwork to use the backup I made for the Mytouch rom I had before?
Or is the backup I made pretty much lost because Im using Clockwork V3?

Your backup was made with an incompatible version of CWM Recovery. It may not be usable. That said, some people have reported in the some of the many many threads on this subject that they have been able to restore a Froyo backup made with V3, while running V2. Your results might match theirs. The steps I show above let you stop at CM7 or continue on to Evil 4G, and do not include restoring your Stock ROM.

this gets you running with the 2 versions of recovery, one for froyo, one for gingerbread. whichever backup you want to restore, just use the matching recovery so your old backup is fine
I neglected to mention CWMR 3.0.0.6, that camrs73 just posted about, with a link to its main thread. This is a custom version of CWM Recovery built by option94 that supports both Froyo and Gingerbread filesystems. In order to install it, you need to have a functioning Android system first. You can install it =after= you get CM7 or Evil 4G up and running.
Ok thank God lol
Thanks for the Input guys Ill flash CM7 then download that Clock work and let you know how it went.

From here if you install 3.0.0.6 Clockwork recovery image (link in my signature) you can flash between 2.2 and 2.3 ROMS w/o any problems.
Yes!!! Im saved!!!
Thanks jggimi ,camrs73 and of coarse neidlinger for your clockwork mod!!
One more question...can I have more than one backup saved on Clockwork?
you can have as many as storage space allows and flash whichever one you feel like at the time (with the appropriate recovery of course)
is there a way to downgrade the cwm?
yes eaysiest way is to use this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944681
also if you use this Image it has all the compatibility of both. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014554
just Download and rename and replace the 3.0.0.5 image.

Why would you want to do that? FYI, 3.0.0.6 can flash both Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs.

Their are a few ways you can do it
1) download and flash 3.0.0.6 via ADB.
2) open Clockwork ROM manager > scroll to the bottom > all recovery > flash it
3) download and flash the recovery image you are wanting via ADB.
I got it thanks you guys but there is now a way to just flash it with out adb

2.5.x.x is for Froyo ROMs. 3.0.0.5 is for Gingerbread ROMs. 3.0.0.6 is for both. If you want to restore a backup of T-Bolt or Iced Glacier, you'll need 2.5.x.x or 3.0.0.6. If you want to flash or restore a backup of CM7, you'll need 3.0.0.5 or 3.0.0.6. Obviously, 3.0.0.6 is preferred because you can switch to that and forget having to worry about recovery images anymore!

What do I name It to flash through bootloader
Evo 4G
Cyanogenmod 7
I put the zip file and install it automatic with bootloader, very easy.
http://goo-inside.me/amon_ra/supersonic/PC36IMG.zip
Drop that file on your sdcard, don't rename it or anything, and just boot into the bootloader. It'll ask if you want to apply the update, so pick yes. Ta-da!
did you follow the instructions for flashing Amon or are you trying to do it thru the software. Best bet is to do it thru bootloader like suggested

Put this file on the root of your SD card....
Hold Power button and down volume, Bootloader will autodetect and ask if you want to apply the update. Say yes, then reboot into recovery.
You should have a good copy of AMON RA 2.3 BTW...the screen tears are normal.
