Ok so i got my droid x fully flashed to cricket, mms/net were working. Now my mms starts saying that National Coverage Access Not Available... wtf does that mean. I have never heard of that before. Everything was working fine till the day before yesterday. N e advise? Thx in advance.
Edit: i fully flashed it myself by using multiple guides around not very fun. Please bare with me. I have done as much searching as possible with limited time constraints.
You just lost part of the flash... happened to me...I can't send but I can get mms ...happens alot with android devices unless you get one from cricket ...just reflash and it should be back to normal

I wonder if it's the flash or if Cricket changed something. My Droid X and Droid 2 (both on Cricket) stopped being able to send MMS around two or three days ago. I tried a couple different PRL's so far but that hasn't helped. Not sure I want to reflash both phones if it turns out that something changed on Cricket's end.
What are the chances that akaruna's Droid X as well as my Droid X and Droid 2 all lost MMS at the same time because of "losing part of the flash"? Seems kind of strange.
I lost that part of flash too and I went to the cricket retailer and they told me that it does lose flash after sometime...if it was on crickets end it would most likely affect a lot of people ...which it didn't ...I also flashed my brothers D2 and same thing happened .... my flash came with a yr guarantee so ima go reflash it see how it works out ..

droid 1 flashed to cricket mms problem
ok so i see this is a problem for many people so i'll just break down my problem and maybe we can get somethin figured out..
hey everybody here's my situation, i have a droid 1 that i flashed to cricket fully @ first i used cyanogenmod 6.1.2 on it and handcent and could get and send mms messages, i went to cm7 nightlies and ditched handcent ad couldnt get mms of course. i've since moved to peter alfonso's gpa13 because it is very stable, i d/led handcent again and got mms working for about a week it was flawless, now i've moved up to Peter Alfonso's GPA14(gingerbread stock) with handcent and i can't receive or send any mms messages again. i've checked my apn's and can't seem to figure it out any help would be extremely appreciated.. BTW im on the 55$ a month android cricket plan.
by the way i see that in the last couple of days its been a bigger issue so maybe it is something cricket did because my mms has been working flawlessly
Jeezy, if MMS doesn't start working again soon I'll probably reflash too. Would you mind posting back here whether a reflash works for you?
Zyrtek - on my Droid 2 I'm using the stock Verizon ROM, just rooted and all the cricket settings, and on my Droid X I'm using FlyX ROM. When I first flashed the phones I had trouble with MMS. I finally narrowed it down to the autostart.sh file and once I put a modified version on both phones about a month ago my MMS started working perfectly on both phones. Everything was good until this past Thursday or Friday. It's weird that both of my phones stopped sending/receiving MMS at the same time.

Mine stopped working on friday i believe. Will reflash tonight and let u all know the results. Gonna try *228 first see if that fixes the problem.
Edit: Well i reflashed my X and that didn't take. so i am gonna have to mess around with it when i get a chance, can't do *228 cause my stupid battery is dead and don't want to take the chance till it is at least at 50% charged. will repost/edit with info as soon as i get more details.
Edit 2: Well i did the *228 after all lol. i said screw it y not. it changed my prl to 42600, but other than that no outgoing mms. and now incoming doesnt seem to work either... hmmm strange. it keeps saying National Access Coverage not available... well **** it. i gotta go to sleep. and on that note im out. any and all info leading to the arrest of this awol mms b/s will be greatly appreciated.

You can do *228 with cricket? Lol
I honestly didn't know that

Lol... Don't *228... I did it on the fascinate and had to re flash to cricket. Two days ago I did it. It changed my prl to another one pre 3g. So I had to go back to eclair, re flash the phone, took five minutes to flash it.

Yeah I was a little sketchy about *228

it only changes the prl on the phone. all you have to do is change it back in qpst... simple as hell. no im not responsible if you brick ur phone. the prl im using is 49027
Give this a shot People
I wrote up a tutorial on the ERIS forum but I will post some possible solutions for your guys to try.
Delete the telephony.db file located in data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases
Drop the attached telephony.db in data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases (Be sure to rename the telephony.db file you downloaded back to telephony.db before dropping it back into data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases)
Replace the APN file attached with APN Backup Restore. (Be sure to replace the X's with your phone number)
If you are on the $45 plan make sure your have autostart root installed from the market.
Be sure to Reboot your phone when you are done.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks Bigshot...I tried it but unfortunately it didn't help. With my original APN it would try sending for a while - I could see the upload/download arrows going for a bit and then stop. Once I switched to your telephony.db and APN (and then rebooted) it would just go right to National Access Coverage Not Available when I tried sending a MMS.
I really don't want to reflash, but it seems that may be my only option.
As for the person asking about doing *228 on Cricket - it's fine, all it does is update the PRL which you can change back with CDMA or QPST.
I've tried several PRL's over the weekend since the MMS problem started - 49027, 32400, 6499 and also 33131 (not sure about this one, I don't remember it exactly but it's what I got through a *228). Changing the PRL doesn't do anything for me other than I see different upload/download speeds with each PRL.
*228 does not work on the $55 plan. I use PRL # 49027. MMS has always been an issue for me but, if bigshotrob wants to post a link to the tokens v10 file he gave me a while back, I was able to receive and send mms from other Cricket users really quick and able to send mms to any carrier. I was not able to receive mms from VZW customers was the only set back, other then that, everything worked great.
Hey Ben, I tried Token's MMS fix but it didn't work for me. I actually tried it twice on my Droid X (second time was after a reflash) and once on my Droid 2. That was back in December/January. Since then I fixed my MMS by changing a few things in autostart.sh - that worked great for about a month until this past week.
Then again, part of my problem may be that I'm still on the $55 All-In plan, not the $55 Android plan (*228 does work on the $55 All-In plan). I've had several people on various forums (not to mention lots of CSR calls, even spoke to the "android team") attempt to change both my plans to the $55 Android but nobody has actually done it yet. However, until this past week I had everything working fully on both phones with both phones on the $55 All-In plan. Something changed at the end of last week and now my MMS doesn't work anymore on both phones. So frustrating!

i have the 55$ android plan for sure because i originally bought the kyocera zio, then sold it after realizing how easy it was to flash og droid to cricket.. then i had 3rd party cricket employee convert/add my meid to existing cricket plan and take over the zio.. but my mms started malfunctioning within the last week as well so i am to think its something with cricket
Quick Q
If you .sbf and you're on cricket ...
Will you still be with cricket?
Im guessing .sbf wont mess with network setting and will just set back to stock rom
But I could be wrong ...

Maybe. I have no issues with MMS. I wonder if it has to do with something in your area. Here is a guide on how to fully flash your phone to cricket. Maybe you did something wrong or different. Hi Guys, I'm trying to see if there has been any luck yet with getting the EVO on metropcs network. I heard that it was possible but didn't know if this was similar to the HERO process or what. Any insight or help in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
im interested to know if it can be put on the boost mobile network!
one sold on ebay on friday. ~1200USD$
I am guessing they hacked the MEID to a known boost acceptable one.
Some people have done it with the Sprint Hero, a few got data working, I think the speeds may have been poor...can't remember. I'm having trouble finding the thread, but I believe you have to make some changes (even on the Hero) through CDMA workshop to get features to work.
Howard Forums has better info on trying to go to a different carrier. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1443845-BEFORE-YOU-ASK-POST-Read-THIS-if-you-are-a-beginner-amp-have-questions-about-flashing!
Have you called Metro PCS with your ESN and MSL? They should be able to tell you straight up if you can do it the easy way (don't think you can).

Yeah I've heard different things as well as seen proof on a few videos of it being on their network, but metro will not add them just yet so there is modifying involved I guess. I'll search a bit more to see what I find and post back.

I'm in the same boat! back to the lab I go!
Heres another thread in Aforums that shows a video of the EVO being "flashed" to another either cricket or metro pcs.

Does anyone know how someone would go about flashing an EVO so it can be used on another carrier???

Ok,
All I did to get it to work with calls is use the MSL to load the MetroPcs Prl file to the phone. I found a guy in Miami that added the IMEI to the Metro system and activated the phone for $60. That includes the first month of service.
So, now I have an Evo working for calls and text on Metro.
I have no idea how to get the internet working.
Can someone help?

I cant help since I dont have an Evo yet to test but I came across this info that might be relevant before flashing to Metro.
Back in 2007, Metro initially only planned 3g data in 7 different cities: http://www.intomobile.com/2007/12/11/metropcs-planning-3g-service-in-seven-markets.html
Then in January of 2010, Metro decides to skip future 3g deployment in favor of LTE: http://connectedplanetonline.com/3g4g/news/metropcs-4g-leap-0113/
There's a pretty big gap in between these two announcements so I don't know how many markets Metro deployed 3g data since 2007 so I'll have to call them and find out... but I wouldn't want to be stuck on 2g for the rest of the time I had the phone (since they aren't rolling out more 3g and their 4g is LTE and not WiMax)
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong

Unlocked and rooted.
Was on latest CM 10.2 nightly.
4g started coming in and out and eventually I just lost 4g. Everything else was fine.
Friday I went to the store and got a new sim card. Since I was still on CM10.2, I couldn't *228 and reactivate because the keyboard doesn't come up once you connect, but eventually, after a few reboots my 4g was back.
As an aside, they noticed I was unlocked and rooted but since it was a reseller, not a corp store, I think they let it slide.
4g works fine the rest of the day Friday.
Saturday, does the same thing. In and out and then finally lost.
Powered off and replaced the sim a few times. No luck.
Wiped and flashed my last verion of Stock and still no luck.
Went into ##7764726 and found where I could force LTE only (You can't do it through stock settings)
Reboot and 4g works fine, but I lost regular mobile service. ie; can't make phone calls.
Went into settings, toggled between Global --- LTE/CDMA got my mobile service back, but lost 4g again.
Did this a few times. Consistently the same results.
I haven't used Matt's utility yet to go back to bone stock, but before I do that, any other ideas?

Did you ever mess with the "band" in the 3 dot menu in the phone info hidden app? Or test mode may also bork your radio partition in the same unfixable way. Rsd is the only. DIY or see my restore sticky. Data wipe is a must before you rsd.
I didn't see a 3 dot menu and so I didn't mess with the band. At least not that way. I'm not using a third party app. I just dialed the key sequence to get to the settings.
I'll try RSD tonight when I get off shift or as soon as I can this week.
BTW, I hadn't made any changes when this first started other than restoring VZW settings in build prop for @ecips CM 11 rom. But the build prop has since been written over several times each time I wipe and flash or restore a ROM.
Thanks.

Cellzealot knows bout this.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you #228 it kills your LTE. At least it does on Verizon...
IIRC when you do that, you need a new SIM...
Anyways...
I think you might have a weak 4g signal. When it's on 4g/3g/1x, it defaults to 3g due to the weak LTE signal. When on LTE only, it has to stick on LTE. Of course since LTE can't do voice or SMS(?), those won't work...

I've read that before.
This happened though before I tried *228 for the first time.
I've also been in and out of strong 4g areas, so I'm not sure it's a signal strength issue.
Also, when I look at my signal strength, I'm receiving 1x and 4g signals with the 4g signal generally being stronger (lower db).
Interestingly, SMS works when I'm on LTE only. The only problem is that I can't make or receive calls.
Going to try a few resets now with RSD and/or Matt's utility.
Last options will be a new sim, or gasp, trying to get the phone replaced. I've had it less than two months, so time-wise, I'm good for the warranty. Unfortunately, it's unlocked....
I couldln't get RSDlite to install on my PC. Win 7 64bit. I got an administrative rights error. I'm the administrator on my PC. I know there's a fix for it and I did a few searches, but my brain is shot.
I used Matt's Utility and restored this back to the stone age and didn't do any of the google updates. Still stuck on 3g.
I'll try again tomorrow, but chances are my sim card is shot. But, why would I go through 2 sim cards in one week?
I also looked at @Zealots thread. That seems to be more for flashing a VZW phone onto another network. I'm in the opposite boat. But again, the brain's tired. I'll try again tomorrow.
Thanks guys for your advice.

I tried that. Right click on the .msi, but Run as Administrator wasn't an option. I've run into that before with other apps and that's worked.
I downloaded RSDLite 6.1.5 (I think), unzipped it and then installed. I'm thinking I made my mistake somewhere in there, but I'm not sure where.
Also, as a side note, I did some reading and know I understand why @Zealots fix may help.
Voice is basically over CDMA which is ruim. LTE is basically gsm which is sim. I may need to tell my phone to actually use sim when it's set to ruim/ in settings. The full restore through RSD might achieve the same goal.
At least I think that's right.
I also understand that we don't have true voice over LTE. VZW LTE devices effectively are using two radios at once. the 1x/CDMA/EVDO radio and the LTE radio.
Both seem to work on my phone, just not together.

I also understand that we don't have true voice over LTE. VZW LTE devices effectively are using two radios at once. the 1x/CDMA/EVDO radio and the LTE radio.
Both seem to work on my phone, just not together.

Ah right. .msi files theoretically should attempt to elevate while running.
That's not quite the case. LTE has no voice built in at all. Technically, when your phone switches from 3g to LTE, it's jumping network types. VZW doesn't have any GSM voice capability - it's all done over CDMA. When your phone is in LTE only mode, you'll never have voice. At least not unless we get LTE-A on the M, assuming that's even possible. Interestingly enough, the SIM handles CDMA affiliation as well (same as doing #228 does) - all your account data and PRLs and stuff are on the SIM card.
Yes there are two radios (also why LTE is such a battery drain - it's literally a separate radio board).
A full restore would be a good idea, and you could also try someone else's VZW SIM in the phone. You may have 3 different points of failure here: hardware (phone radio is screwed, you're SOL), software (full restore or OTA update should fix that), or SIM (get a new SIM... Again... Lol). If we can isolate it to the phone or SIM, that should help us figure out the problem.
EDIT: WAAAIT a second. You're on 10.2? Was your network mode on the default that came with the ROM? Cause that doesn't work. That might be your problem
EDIT 2: you need to be on "LTE / CDMA / EvDo". Anything else probably WON'T work.

I used Matt's utility/suite and restored to stock. I believe that uses RSDlite. Once I restored to stock I had the same problem. I don't know if using just RSDlite does the same thing, but once I get it installed I'll give it a shot.
Regardless of which ROM I use I'm on LTE/CDMA/EvDO and I don't get LTE.
I can get a good LTE signal if I choose LTE only either through the ROM settings (CM, AOKP, etc) or ##program on stock.
I've had the phone almost two months and been on a variety of ROMs; stock through 4.4 based. This only started last week.

By this you mean that I've effectively ruled out it being a software issue and it's either the card or hardware?
So, let's say it's the card and I swing by and they pop in a new one. Any idea how to keep this from happening again? Or can a bad radio(s) fry a card?

Card is easy to replace. I had a bad one. I do not think hw will fry one.

Bad radio boards could fry a card. I'm sure it's possible. Whether it's happened before or not, I have no idea.
Yeah, I'd try a new SIM. Looks like you might have gotten two lemon SIMs in a row...
Thanks. Didn't have time today. Will try again tomorrow.
It's a retail store that sells exclusively VZW but it's not a corporate store. Maybe they get the leftovers.

Lol. You could go in to a corporate store and demand an Isis SIM. I did that a while back, despite the fact I was on CM10.1 and can't even use it
FWIW, I got it to test stuff with wallet... But yeah...

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 SPH_L720 but its been flashed over to Verizon but i can't recieve picture text or send Picture texts is there a way I can fix it to where I can get picture texts and I can send them? And ever since I had my phone flashed over I noticed that the Network still says sprint but I'm with Verizon, and I can't update my PRL or my Profile and then I don't get 4GLTE anymore all I get is 3G. My phone is both rooted and unlocked so I have no Sim.
Also I don't know if I'm in the right section or not. Because my phone is a Sprint Phone but is in service with Verizon. I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong Section
Thank you to anyone who could answer these and help me.
For MMS I think you will need the APNs for Verizon (my guess not 100% sure). As for the LTE you will never get it on the Sprint GS4 flashed to Verizon because they use different frequencies.

Ahh okay well thanks for clearing up my problem and I never knew that about the Frequencies I guess you learn something new everyday lol.

I haven't had service to my nexus 6p for almost three weeks, but I was able to pay for re-establishing service sometime around 1:28am on a whim that I might of got paid. This is when the problems started...LTE kept coming in and out very rapidly, I rebooted twice - did not work, so I figured maybe something was corrupt so I fastbooted N4F26J, N4F26O, NBD91K....26J-260 kept bootlooping. It went past the google animation screen, so I know I wasn't getting the BLOD I've heard everyone mentioning. Right now my phone is working, but I remembered I had saved NRD91U from that one time I decided to use Squabbi's Toolkit. I am now successfully booting, but now data is not working - just like before. I checked online to see if maybe Cricket had a network down issue and a lot of reports were coming in that people were having issues. I'm checking to see if a radio - mobile data issue could ever cause me so many issues. I think ill wait until the morning to figure out what the hell is going on, but I seriously doubt it's an issue with the phone as much as it is an issue with Cricket's network. Let me know if any you other cricket users have had issues too.

You're running a really old build. I'm a Cricket customer and my phone is working fine. Does your phone boot loop when you try flashing the latest build? Are you flashing the full stock image or trying to flash OTAs?
I have cricket I'm on the latest 8.0 and have major connectivity issues I lose signal and have to reboot constantly. As well. IDK what to do anymore
Anyone else having this issue?

I will test this out it's working right now but I'm in hspa. It can't be the network cuz my S7 edge is sitting side by side and I have LTE with about 8gb down and the Nexus is pulling under 1gb on hspa. I'm getting frustrated. Gonna try a TMobile sim tomorrow and see if it performs different

Is there a way to get tethering working without root on cricket wireless?

For free? Not really. Get a phone that will tether without checking entitlement. If you want to pay all you need is to borrow a cricket branded phone that supports tethering, put your SIM card in it, turn the phone on and let it register, add the tethering feature to your line, then put the SIM back into your regular phone. It will continue to work as long as you don't make any changes to your account. I don't know why they only allow you to sign up with certain phones, I guess it saves them on troubleshooting costs.
So I ended up ditching my 6p and got a Pixel XL. It was fun but I kept having connection issues and have zero issues with the pixel so far and I've been using it now for 3 days . Same areas I'd get drop in connection and data service my pixel is still blazing fast.
