You are probably better off just setting the default messaging app to be GoSMS, then hiding the native messaging app with your launcher. I found that removing some unwanted apps such as GTalk caused problems with others (mainly google ones)
I have Handcent and the CyanogenMod messaging apps and the both receive the same data and handle the same data, I only use handcent because the (quite older) ROM that I am using uses an old CM Messaging app which doesnt allow me to select from contacts.
If you do decide to remove the .apk's or .odex's be sure to back them up first before deleting them in /system!
Good Luck!
The answer is yes.

Stuff I could get rid of

I will preface this by saying I did not DELETE these yet since there is no CWM Recovery for my device at this time. However, I was able to freeze the following from within Titanium Backup and saw no negative consequences.
I will be investigating further to see what other services and apps I can safely remove. But for now, this 71 is a good start.

Facebook Messenger Permissions

I am not too happy about being forced to FB Messenger and don't want to install it since it uses so many permissions on my phone that I don't want it to use...
Those who are rooted, etc and using things like Xposed, App Setting, etc... is there anything out there I can use to block FB Messenger for having so much access to my phone?
Many don't care as it is like #1 out there but I so care...any advice fam..??
You might be able to use app ops to restrict certain access to your device. Probably the best way is to actually advance freeze (Rom toolbox) and go through and see how much you can disable before the app becomes unstable

Fwiw, I uninstalled the FB app ages ago. I just put a shortcut on my desktop to visit FB on my browser.
I use my Twitter program to natively share pics/links to FB, and you can set up FB to e-mail notifications (I don't have any) for just about anything....then you can set up a filter and subscribe to that folder for your Facebook notifs, if you wanted to go crazy.

Safe to freeze/uninstall apps

I have searched for a list of apps that are safe to freeze or uninstall. I would hate to uninstall the AT&T bloatware and it have some crazy dependency attached to it.

Here is a list of everything I have removed and gone without for a few days. Rooted, running Xposed, and still no adverse effects. I will update when I remove more.

Of course, if you remove all of this you will lose some of the built-in functionality, but it will not hurt anything in place. If you notice after doing this that a certain setting no longer works, I think it's pretty self-explanatory which ones correlate with which settings (e.g. if you turn off QuickMemo+, QuickMemo won't work anymore). This is why I recommend freezing them with TiBU instead of fully removing them. Also, if you fully remove them you can't get an official OTA Update.

[FEATURE REQUEST] Export XML settings on ALL APPS

Summary:
Option to Export app settings and Layout Setting in XML format should be a standard on all apps. Current Apps such as MX Video Player and Nova Launcher allow this, in Titanium Backup we can Export and Import Call Logs, SMS and WiFi Saved Passwords in XML.
Also If all apps that allow this via a single setting MENU export/import on ANDROID Setting it will be AWESOME.
Question:
Why need this? You can backup your Whole App with Titanium Backup.
Answer Short:
Just have Export and Import SETTING or Export and Import PROFILES in XML format (or whatever file extension you like) in ALL your Apps. PLEASE NOTE a Note should appear when importing and exporting that, YOUR PASSWORD OR LOCK SETTING WILL NOT BE EXPORTED. This is a great feature on ALL Phones because ROOT is not required for this, and not everyone has ROOTED phone.
Answer Long:
1st of All Not Everyone has ROOTED phone. When install app on my mobile to update setting, I should have ability to See a Trebuchet Launcher (CynogenMod Launcher) App Drawer and Desktop Layout previous backups by date.
And if my friend or family wants same launcher with same look or settings i can do is simply Export XML then Bluetooth the file to the Person and import XML file in settings. THIS SAVES 15-20 Minutes on SETTING UP EACH APP every time.
Even Titanium Backup export/import Call Log, SMS and Wifi. BUT it DOES NOT export/import its own settings and Filter which is very sad.
FOR EXAMPLE it took me only 5 secs to export, then Bluetooth then import MX Video Player, Nova Launcher, Smart Keyboard and some other apps settings for my brother and for a friend in to their mobile. No ROOTED Phone Needed.
While to setup others Apps such as Rocket Music Player, Google Keyboard, Zeam Launcher and every other app took me several minutes (hours or whole day you can say).
So it is very easy to search Play Store and Download the Apps, but it is very hard and time consuming to Setup apps. Not Everyone has ROOTED Phone and Not Everyone knows how to setup an app, common person searches for a Tech Expert to setup an App but not every Tech Person has Time to go look into remember and match setting what they have in their own phones. Got my Point?
thanks awaiting you response.
