Hello,
I am having difficulty playing any recorded videos that were recorded from the phone itself. It keeps giving me a msg 'cannot play file from system player'
I can watch videos I made with my previous phones but just not with the matrix camcorder.
Here's what I havetried to troubleshoot:
- tried rockplayer, qqplayer ,same error msg.
-copied files from internal SD to external, same
- Tried wiping device, same.
They are. 3gp files.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have just bought a v-mate from Scandisk.
http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(2171)-SDVM1-A-SanDisk_VMate_Video_Memory_Card_Recorder_.aspx
This device creates mp4 files from TV (etc) input on to an SD disk which in theory can be played directly on any mp4 player.
However, having created the files tonight I can't get them to play properly on either Windows Media 10 for PC Mobile or TCPMP on my Universal.
If I open with Windows Media Player 10 Mobile for Pocket PC. It just plays the audio and not the video.
If I try and open it with TCPMP (0.72RC1) I get the following error message:
"Player: MPEG4 AAC Audio decoder not included! It was removed from the package because of intellectual property considerations". If I get rid of this message and tap 'play' it then plays the video file such that the video is fine but there is no sound.
It plays other MP4 files fine (eg ones I have made with the camera itself).
Clearly the file has audio and video information, but neither WMP 10 for mobile or TCPMP can play both. I suspect this is not a v-mate issue but rather something about WMP 10 or TCPMP.
Any suggestions guys? I have looked on the forums but can't see anything on this.
just install plugins (will install the right codecs in thecoreplayer)
i play mp4 psp movies with them on my universal (works great )
Result!
Cheers Mate, worked first time - I am sure it's all obvious to you and other experienced users, but this has sorted me out splendidly.
I had the same issue with TCPMP not playing the MP4 files, got the same message saying the decoder was removed from the application. Loaded the two CAB files that were posted but still get the same message. Do I have to change anything in TCPMP to use the plugins for MP4 files?

Which version of TCPMP do you use?
Try de-installing and installing.
Or even better
Try "Coreplayer" (this is the newest from tcpmp)
but sadly enough not free
(with a little search you can find reg/fix)

i had success playing all mp4 files using quicktime
i had the exact same problem. any video i transferred to my pc would not play. quicktime would play 3gp files, but not mp4. no other software would play my mp4 files except for vlc player. i'm assuming it's an error in my windows installation or registry. i'm gonna transfer a couple vids to one of my laptops and see if they play on there. then i'll know whether or not it's due to my windows installation. if they play on laptop, i'll do a clean install of xp and see if they play.
Super will play them as well as the newest realplayer....
Hi
Why u not try Ultimate Media Pack or Classic Media Player? U can get this soft on www.9down.com
download quicktime OR download and install this then you can play the vids in wmp on your pc

I had the same problem, I just rename the video files from .mp4 to .3gp on my computer and it plays them just fine.
I am developing an application which is supposed to play videos from the raw resource folder. I'm trying to get this program working on my HTC Desire but every time I try to get the videos to play I get the aforementioned error message, the exact same videos play fine using the default media player however. They are in the MPEG-4 AVC format at a resolution of 320x240 and using AAC audio, muxed in an MP4 container. Could someone give me some idea as to what I may be doing wrong or some sample code for playing videos on this device? Thanks.
Hi
When I am trying to transfer an avi video on my Nexus 7, I am receiving the following warning:
The File "filename here" may be copied to the device for storage or transport use only. It is not supported for use on the device itself. If possible, use a media program that can convert the file before copying it. If you copy the file now, it will be stored on the device, but may not be presented in the device user interface. Do you wish to copy the file anyway?
Now I have installed MX Player, however I am receiving the same warning. Any ideas what can I do to view avi files on nexus 7?
Thanks in advance.
Is this the computer telling you this? If so, just ignore it and copy anyway. The computer doesn't really know what your device can or cannot do, it is just making a dumb assumption. You should be able to play the video with no problems.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. Yes the message was given by the computer. In fact, I followed your suggestion and copied it anyway, however I got a message that the video cannot be played. Also I tried downloading other apps (bs player and dice), however I still got the same message.
Any other suggestions what can I try please as converting them to mp4 seems to be taking a lot of time.
Thank you in advance.
Hi
Just as an update I have tried the following but all to no success:
- In MX Player I tried to play the avi file in S/W decoder but still got the message that the video cannot be played
- I tried to download the ARM7 codec for MX Player - again with no success
- Tried to install the DICE Player, but still the avi files cannot be played.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am really stuck.
Thank you in advance.
Hmm... perhaps try using MoboPlayer.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I have downloaded the MoboPlayer as suggested but unfortunately to no avail. Not sure if it helps, but the following are the avi properties of the file I am trying to play (the file was recorded from a digital camera)
Image 640x480
Audio: bitrate - 64kbps, audio sample size 8 bit and audio format - CCITT u-Law
Video: framerate 30fps and data rate 6745 kbps.
Just as a side note, I tried several other avi files which I have on my computer, but I am receiving the same message for all of them.
Thanks for your help.
Regards
AVI isn't a video format as such but a container, the actual audio and video can be any number of different codes (divx, xvid, aac, mp3 etc etc)
I'd guess your video camera is producing a file that might be a more unusual codec. I used to have a tool o the my pc that would analyse the file and tell you what codecs it used, can't remember what it was called though.
Based on the info above and a little googling the audio seems to be in a format mainly for recording phone calls in call centres. So it's already looking like a weird format from that alone

thx jimbobvfr400 for your reply. Actually I managed to solve part of the problem. I used the Gspot v 2.1 utility to identify the codec being used. As for the avi in question, the codec is mjpg and this did not play with the apps I tried. Eventually, I tried copying another avi on the nexus, and initially I received the same warning before transferring the file. This time I used an xvid avi and although at first it didn't work, I tried to play it in Soft decoder and it worked fine.
So at least I can play the xvid types but so far not the mjpg files. If anyone managed to play these type of files your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Iv tried moving videos Iv recorded from my phone on to my computer and also onto a usb drive and both times the video copies over but when you play it there is only a blank/black screen on the computer/usb copy but the audio plays. The video plays fine on the phone. I was just moving them from the folders. What am I doing wrong? :crying:
what video player are you using? try downloading Videolan player and check.
Still same result. I tried windows preview and windows movie maker originally.

Video codec missing on your pc.
Try another versatile player like VLC or MPC-HC.
And check if your graphics driver is properly installed.
I tried check that everything was installed and updated. I don't know how to install or add a codec so I ended up downloading a pack and now the video is working so hopefully that was an ok fix. Thanks.
