i replaced the digitizer. the touchscreen doesn't work. no response is felt after it.
i used this guide:
http://mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/OSeven's Disassembly Guide to the HTC Touch - Elf .pdf
and when it came to the step of replacing the vibration part, i kind of clipped it, but when it came to putting it back, it wouldn't work.
-touchscreen doesn't work
-vibration not working.

I had a problem because my touch screen was crazy, so I opened my Universal and cleaned the screen carefully. It solved the problem : I was able to calibrate again the touch screen.
10 mn ago I hard reset it, and now the screen is reversed (I have to look at it in a mirror in order to be able to read !). The touch screen is OK (I am able to navigate in the menus but have to stay in front of a mirror...)
Any idea how to solve this ?
replace flex cable.from mainboard to lcd
In order to do this, SEARCH in the Wiki for Universal manual
Good luck
Hi,
The touch screen of my HTC elf doesn't work anymore.
I am going to order some parts to change the digitizer myself and also the casing to make it look a little newer.
Anyway, I'd like to understand how the touch functionality works exactly. Is it a pressure on the digitizer itself that make a "touch" or is it a pressure on the digitizer that press the screen and this action make a "touch" ?
When I power my disassemble Elf, a pressure on the screen itself doesn't do anything....
I'd like to know if I need to order a screen as well
Hi,
just replaced my own elf's digitizer a month ago... and the phone is like new.
To answer your question it's the digitizer that reads pressure and sends the data to the system (if you already disassembled it you should have noticed a flat cable that connects the digitizer to the board).
So if the screen on your elf is working you should solve the problem by replacing only the digitizer.
You rock, I order now
I tried to replace the digitizer and started to open the phone according to the youtube movies (for aria HTC phone, SHOULD be the same) and I'm having hard time with removing the power button part (which looks so easy in the movie).
Can someone advise on that? It looks stuck around the earphone jack.
Thanks in advance.
After replacing the main board of my HD2, the keypad no longer works. At first the button on the left (answer phone) was still working while the other weren't but after reseating the flex cable of the keypad, none of the keys work.
I don't think the main board (or the connector) is broken but I will be able to test that soon enough since I ordered a replacement keypad board. I will be able to just plug that one in without having to disassemble the HD2 to check if it's indeed the keypad that's broken.
But if the keypad is indeed broken, I will need to replace it (obviously). I can find how to disassemble the HD2 (video's, pictorials, etc), but nowhere can I find how to assemble the HD2.
For instance, you will need to separate the screen from the chassis by heating it up (with a heatgun or blow dryer) since those are glued/taped together. But I can't find anywhere how to glue/tape those two parts together again.
So can anyone direct me to some instructions? Or have any tips?
(Shameless) Bump?
Yesterday I was working on my HTC HD2, flashed WP7 Mango on it, and opened it again to align the plastic keys with the hardware keys undeneath. It didn’t really work out, so I carefully seperated the digitizer from the display to realign theglass abovethe keys. Now The keys work perfectly, but the screen doesn’t react anymore. I have no clue what could’ve went wrong, the digitzer flex cable is still perfect, aswell are the others which connect the screen to the motherboard. Anyone have a clue what could’ve went wrong? I hope it can get fixed easily
I’ll try to hold the ‘end call key’ while using the display. Seems like that will help to entight the connection.
Fix: So I took the Display out again and checked the connection of the digitizer at the back of the screen. It was loose. So i've put it in place and fixed the connection with some extra tape.
