Flash 10.2 is now available in the Market... - Atrix 4G General

can we just install 10.2 directly over 10.1, or should we uninstall 10.1 first (ti backup)...or?

unless it says it works on Tegra 2 devices, do NOT install it!!!!! the flash that came on our phones is for the Tegra 2. The Flash 10.1 that was in the market essentially broke all flash capability in the browser, and they even had a WARNING in the description for Tegra 2 users.
EDIT: looks like it may be okay is it's "optimized for dual-core devices"
EDIT x2: http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplayer/2011/03/update-on-flash-player-10-2-for-mobile-devices.html "For a list of upcoming Flash-enabled devices which show off the latest performance improvements, including the MOTOROLA ATRIX™ 4G, MOTOROLA XOOM™ and LG Optimus 2X, please click here."
Looks like you're good to go!

Yes you can use it for the Atrix. If you go to the market it will tell you update available. If you read down it says its for dual core also.

yep, in the market it didn't list it as an upgrade (for me) ...just as a clean install...but i took the hit and it installed and upgraded without any issues. can't say i notice a difference at the moment...but it's still the best way that i've found to interface with orb...
thanks!

NICE! If you play a game like flood runner 2 on miniclip, it's finally actually playable!
of course, you need to fullscreen it, but thats easy. just click on the game window and hold down. Then press fullscreen.
20-25 fps

Good stuff; glad to see that it improves quality on single core phones as well.

Seems it hasn't really made it much faster. Put flash 10.2 on both the Atrix and my Nexus S and the Nexus S still loads videos faster and plays them smoother... sad =(
(Before testing I cleared out some RAM and the Atrix has over 550mb free while the Nexus S only has 157mb free!!)

I THINK it's because of what ATT did about allowing some apps not to be installed?
Will ROOT help with this?

Odd, the atrix comes with a NFS Demo that plays perfectly fine.
more than likely the games aren't updated to work on the phone resolution, wait for an update. or get the latest version from the market.

ALL my apps are from the market, that's what's weird.
Keep in mind that some apps and games may not work on the Atrix just yet because of the new type of display/resolution and don't forget the new tegra 2 chipset.
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G using XDA app
Need for speed plays great on mine. Asphalt 5 gives a white border on the right and top of display because of the resolution. I played it though and it's the fastest I've seen the game play. Larger companies like Gameloft and EA will probably update pretty quickly.
Are you talking about the full version of NFS: Shift? Of course the demo works, but the full version doesn't. It starts up and tries to download the 150mb of extra data from EA and then errors out saying "Unsupported Device". Sims 3 does the same thing.
Might want to wait a little, its not like the phone just came out today or anything.

Flash Player 10.3 is now ready't'go!

Make sure you update - though it might updated automatically. (it did for me)

I hear that. I went so far as to speak to the store manager at Best Buy here to ask if he could "special order" a Transformer for me. The distribution channel software they use doesn't even have the SKU in it yet. It's on their website, but not in their distro system. I was a sad panda.

I don't think the update would just fix all of our performance issues, but at least provide better compatibility. I think our future honeycomb updates (look at me being optimistic) will help with the chop.
Ya 720 looks about the same to me. Smooth but sometimes can stutter when there's a lot of variance in the shot.

This. I think they'll need to tap into the nvidia hardware more to enable better video performance. It's interesting to note that they added NEON support for CPUs that support it(ours doesn't afaik). How much those instructions will help I don't know.

No, I mean nvidia will have to work with the manufacturers to include better optimized kernel/user code for the tegra to take advantage of the dual core and the graphics hardware better. Hopefully nvidia has 3.1 as well and is adding their pieces to the pie as we speak.
a big drop in performance with flash 10.3
I
don't know if anyone sees the same, but for me, adobe flash 10.3 is a lot worse than 10.2.
I am in germany and looked videos on www.golem.de. With 10.2 there have been nearly smooth. Now with 10.3 they become a picture view, no longer video.
(Yes I compared the same videos, coding can't be different.)
I think they broke the nvidea integration and HC was not the focus of this update, but 10.2 was.
My recomandation:
So if you didn't update so far, don't do it!!!!

I have tried the site you mentioned...... no problems with 10.3! Maybe clear cache/data from your browser.
Installed successfully
You Tube and BBC iPlayer working beautifully with the updated Flash
Retested Flash 10.3; still not better
Hi again,
thanks for the tipps, tried them all.
I think it depends on the video itself.
For some odd reason, the videos in germany tends to be coded in a way, the new Flash 10.3 didn't like.
I mentioned before, all videos on Golem.de are worse, but also on spiegel.de.
I noticed a message box, saying, "This video is not optimized for mobile devices".
Never seen such a message in 10.2. Also on my HTC desire, the videos are worse, and see exactly the same behaviour.
I still see no advantages from 10.2 to 10.3. In 10.2 I never had such messages, and the videos where smooth as well. Now on a few webpages the videos are OK, but most are picture shows.
Is there anybody else how could confirm this? Can't belive I am the only one, seeing this performance drop on two different devices, and nobody else seeing this.
I read that flash10.3 is better with HC 3.1. So you see better performance?

I guess the EVO is upscale android device. I saw that too deep into the thread (which is like 270 pages) but we can safely overclock AOSP and sense 2.2 kernels safely to 1.19 which is pretty close.

For all "deadspace" fans!

There is a deadspace game for android available online somewhere..you need froyo and chainfire with the qualcomm driver for it to work...it doesn't work on gingerbread roms btw...I had to revert back to froyo but the game is awesome.

it only works for sgs models on froyo and also doesn't work on galaxy nexus (read it in a forum somewhere)..but some samsung phones that can run the game in gingerbread are galaxy ace, gio, mini and the droid charge apparently (can't confirm this phone). I think it has to do the way samsung gingerbread update messed with the gpu (assumption) plus the game was originally made for xperia play...i have tried all chainfire settings and i can't get it to work on my epic on gb and cm7 (it freezes the phone) but works fine in froyo..

I also tried running it using Chainfire3D, didn't work. It loads up about 2 seconds of the intro and just closes. For the time being, I'm enjoying GB more than Froyo so I won't be going back, although I wanted to play this pretty bad :\ sad days...
I got it running on my Iconia Tab tho using Chainfire 3D. The only problem is that it only runs in portrait mode, not landscape. So I'm cut off short from both sides of the gameplay. Turning into corners is a pain since I'm half blind and I can't see anything besides me unless its literally like beside me already :\ its playable, but kind of annoying.

Posted a thread about this -- apologies for not finding this one first.
I'm severely bummed, because I love this game, and am only about 1/3 of the way through it. I loathe the idea of having the flash back to Froyo to play it, and am not going to... YET.
I mentioned in my other thread, though, that Shadowgun DOES work on the E4G with GB and Chainfire3D+NVIDIA plug-in. While the game does need the horsepower of the Galaxy S II, it plays well on the E4G, with just a little stuttering here and there as the graphics H/W can't keep up. Hasn't interfered with gameplay at all, though, and it's an AWESOME game!!
EDIT: Haven't tried it with an OC kernels yet. Just flashed Samurai 3.01++, with a turbocharge GPU clock, and support for CPU OC. I'll crank it up and give Shadowgun a try, report back here later.

I downloaded DeadSpace from SamsungApps for free & it works great on CleanGB MTD.
Just to give feedback, Deadspace runs great on EI22 (CleanGB) and Cyanogen 7 RC0 through nightly 16, to include using Samurai kernel with overclocked GPU. I got mine from the Android Market, I think it was on sale. Great game to show off the Epic's performance and black levels.

TF300 and Adobe Flash

Thinking of getting a 2nd ipad, oops tablet in the house
I have few questions:
- what Android does it come with out of the box (as of almost August 2012)?
- Can you install Flash on it?
- Will you be able to install Flash once it gets (if it gets) upgraded to Jellybean?
- Does Google Store have a dedicated tablet app section, i mean are there a lot of native 1280x800 apps or does the TF300 upscale or something?
Lastly what's the difference between TF300 and TF300TG? I see Hydro ROM has downloads for both...are there 2 tablet revisions or something?
Thanks!
The tf300 is wifi only
The tf300tg is wifi and 3g
You can install flash from the market.
And no there is no dedicated section in the marketplace for tablet apps.
Good luck with your purchase

Yes you can install flash on it. When it get upgraded to 4.1 you can sideload flash but it will not work with chrome. Flash really isn't a big deal anymore. Adobe isn't upgrading it and everyone if not most already are moving to html5.
No the play store market whatever they are calling it does not have a tablet specific section. However a decent amount of apps have tablet layouts. If they don't it gets scaled up however I don't think it looks bad by any means.
Lastly the 300t is the wifi while the tg is 3g/4g.

There is actually a small section in the market called "Staff picks for tablets", probably all the tablet apps won't be listed in there but at least some of the most popular will. Also there's an app called tablified market it has all the apps available for tablets, although last time I used it hadn't been updated in a while.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the only browser I've ever had Flash work on is the stock browser or derivatives, like ICS Browser+ (no Flash support on Firefox or Chrome, can't recall if Dolphin worked). In JB, the stock browser *is* Chrome, correct? No more stock browser?
You can pretty much differentiate the apps that are for tablet and the apps for phone.
The apps that are for lower resolution are typically not even worth making it for tablet resolution.
Games are fine, I've never seen a game other than Rage of Bahamaut that wasn't terrible to look at.
Flash is available on android, yes.
Chrome is probably the default browser for Jelly Bean, so I assume they will add flash to it.
Your tablet will have android 4.0 right out of the box.
It probably isn't worth getting this tablet, since the new Infinity is out and only 100$ more.
It is far better with everything from screen resolution to quality of the build.
I wish I had waited for it... But, I plan on getting a new devices every year. From a new laptop or desktop to a new tablet. :victory:

That's what I thought, but the stock browser (at least, in CM10) seems to be the same as the ICS browser but with a couple extra Chrome-like features. Maybe CM has to use the old stock browser for the same reasons they can't include Gapps.

it's a 200EUR (250USD) difference in these parts of the world
TF700 sounds sexier, but:
- more pixels to push
- higher clocked CPU
- higher price
- no killer apps that justify 1080p screen
now the question (since i found an used TF201 very close in price to a TF300) is: is the wifi reception THAT bad on the Prime? (don't care about GPS)
plus points are: gorilla glass and thinner/lighter body
I returned the TF201 in anticipation of the TF300T being released, specifically based on poor WIFI performance. I have to admit the TF300T wasn't great at first (still better than the prime) but I now have Jelly Bean on it and am very happy with it.
