When I used to have a HTC Hero I used to be able to flash the latest radio version, which occasionally gave better signal, can this be done on our wildfires? is there a site with new radios? my current radio is 13.55.55.24H_3.35.30.10 is there a better radio?
Yep, it's the same with the Wildfire. Check out the bottom of the first post on this thread for the latest radio.

Hey. I used to have xelecin's custom 2.26 ROM running with the 2.47 radio upgrade. I was having problems with it freezing sometimes, but my signal for phone calls was amazing. I recently upgraded to the latest official ROM on t-mobile's website and the same 2.47 radio upgrade. Now the phone is running better, but i have crappy signal. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Try out different Radio Roms until you find the one that works the best for you. I've tried a few and so far the 2.47 has worked the best for me and I have the T-mobile 2.26 Rom but a lot of people seem to think the 2.19 works better for them. There's plenty of different versions on here to try out.

Is the 2.19 radio version your talking about the UK one I've seen people writing about? If it is, does it work in the USA?

Yes. If you are on the Cingular network and you are using a custom ROM, the 2.19 radio is the best. In fact, on most custom ROMs, the 2.19 radio is the best choice. Usually the ROM cook will recommend a certain radio ROM in the ROM thread (normally in the first post).
I have a T-Mobile MDA G3 and I'm using the most up to date "official" ROM on the T-Mobile website (ROM version: 2.26.10.2 WWE).
2.19 will still work. just go to the top sticky in this forum and there are several different Radio Roms for you to chose from. If you try 2.19 and it happens not to work just pick another one to flash. Radio Roms flash easily and you don't lose any of the information on your phone.
Ok, I thought it as the top sticky in this forum. I think I've been spending way too much time in here lately. Anyway, they are around here somewhere but if for some reason you can't find them let me know and I'll up any of them you want to try. I have most of them.
I have just got a polaris PDA having owned previous versions many for many years. i have incredibly poor reception on the phone indoors. to the point it cannot connect to the network at all.
if I go out side everyting is fine. I have tried other Sim cards with no success and other phones in the house are fine so not reception issues.
Reading through the forums I have seen talk about Radio Version 1.58.21.23 which is supposed to be really good for phones with this issue.
Here's the problem - i have ROM 3.13.206.0 WWE which I believe will only take 1.59.*.* Radio's.
how can I revert back to a previous Rom/driver set so that i can use this 1.58 radio?
will it do me any good or is there something else i can try, i have already been right up to Radio 1.65.30.09 from the forum.
any ideas?
thanks
you could install a cooked rom that uses 1.58 radio.
both of the shekhar roms use 1.58 radio and the radio is included in the download. you'll find them on the first page of the forum.
if you want to stick with original rom, then take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381600 where there are a list of the original roms available.
if you've never flashed a cooked rom before or aren't sure how to go about it, the same post contains all the information you need.
1.33.2010 vs 1.76.2007
3.22.20.17 vs 6.35.x.x
Ok, so what is the difference, other than they are required for certain ROMs?
What phones actually came with these 'new' versions; I have a new device, wouldn't it make sense that it had the new radio, it didn't?
Why would I want to upgrade and are there incompatibilities with providers (mine is 850/1900 freq)
Didn't see this described anywhere or in the wiki.
I'd be glad to tack it in for others information if we get some good information...
Thx!
Correct me if I am wrong. I believe the new SPL and Radio came into being when the new 1.5 Rom with Sense was released for the 32A Rogers phones. It does not use the "normal" 32A recovery but a version of the Hero recovery.
Will newer official Roms use this SPL and Radio combination? I have a sneaky feeling that it will be used again when the Rogers phones are upgraded to 2.1.
In the meantime, some chefs of the custom 32A Roms have decided to create a version of their Roms using these newer SPL and Radio. Some have not (it seems Amon RA won't for his Donut Rom). Hence, if you want to switch Roms you may have to follow CurseDroid's instructions to change SPL, Radio, and recovery.
Note: Some Rogers users believe that it is the new Radio that tells Rogers whether they have updated their phone to fix the E911 bug.
Hmmmm, I have a new Rogers Magic and it didn't come with the sense UI.
I also thought the Rogers update (maybe it was the OTA one) was still the old SPL, although a perfected version.
I also read a comment that said something to the likes of:
The new radio and SPL makes the 32A a Hero (or like)...
Does that mean it can run a Hero ROM?
Any clarification would be appreciated, will add all this to a summary...
Radio comparison
Hmmm are there any speed improvements or differences and reception differences between the 6.35x and 3.22x radios? If no, then what are the differences?
Will someone plz respond to this thread?!??
My phone came with new radio and spl when I bought it.
I switched to the old one to use Yoshi rom some time ago but now I'm back to the new one.
I didn't notice any difference between old and new in the phone speed or battery life, but the reception seems a little better on the new one.
Sent from my Dream/Sapphire using XDA App
Ever since the phone was new, no one can give an answere for what radio is better.
The only thing I have ever had is slightly better reception.
I rooted. My phone Mar 2010. The main reason people went to the old radio is because. Back then it had a more stable kernal / camera / wifi / Bluetooth. And more rom's were being cooked for it
Now if you have a 32a it does not really matter

There are more custom rom for the new radio.

I am not sure about that - I am aware of CM7, DietGB and Ginger Yoshi. But they all use the same kernels by carz12
i recently switch to radio 2.15 from 2.10 and im still having network connection issues... little to no reception while everyone else on tmo *which im on* has atleast 3 bars should i have a specific radio for my region or is it rom dependant? im running i believe pure droid 1.7 gingerbread 2.3.2 and help is appreciated
trial and error.
is it possible to check radio version in android, as well as to change/update it?
I wonder if my radio version could be the source of my gps woes..
Maybe just check what the chef of your rom suggests.. that mostly helps. Or than try some just on your own to figgure out which is best for you..;-)
remeber andrew the rom your using usually has a specific radio so check the first page of the rom thread and the dev will usually tell you what radio , cwm , magldr you need for any given rom
Ok I looked a bit around and could not find a clear answer to my question so here it goes.
I have the HD2 Telstra T9193 and I want to update it with the best in Radio and ROM, so I started to look around for info, I read the:
FAQ FOR FLASHING HTC HD2 (LEO)
Graphical Questions & Answers: flashing ROM & HSPL
But now I have a question that came to my mind. I bought the T9193 because the frequency it uses is similar to what we use here in Brasil, diferent from the rest of the world, so installing a radio that works nice on most HD2 may cause problems with my T9193? I wonder that since the frequencies are diferent the radio might be not configured to use them, or perhaps this have nothing to do with the radio and will not make any diference.
What you think about this?
What radio should I install? Any suggestions?
How do I know wich radio is best for me? I should stay with the suggested radio for each rom or I can try with the latest and change it if I have problems?
Thank you very much for the help.

Correct, radio has no effect on the frequencies.
Most people find 2.10.50. or higher work fine, with 2.11.50 and 2.15.50 seemingly most popular.
I'm using radio 2.14.50 on my T9193, works fine
BUT: please remember that one must 1st flash the radio ROM and then 2nd, flash the main ROM of your choice. If you flash the radio ROM 2nd (like a simple "update"), the various radio elements will do strange and annoying things
