Signal Problem after ROM upgrade - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hey. I used to have xelecin's custom 2.26 ROM running with the 2.47 radio upgrade. I was having problems with it freezing sometimes, but my signal for phone calls was amazing. I recently upgraded to the latest official ROM on t-mobile's website and the same 2.47 radio upgrade. Now the phone is running better, but i have crappy signal. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Try out different Radio Roms until you find the one that works the best for you. I've tried a few and so far the 2.47 has worked the best for me and I have the T-mobile 2.26 Rom but a lot of people seem to think the 2.19 works better for them. There's plenty of different versions on here to try out.

Is the 2.19 radio version your talking about the UK one I've seen people writing about? If it is, does it work in the USA?

Yes. If you are on the Cingular network and you are using a custom ROM, the 2.19 radio is the best. In fact, on most custom ROMs, the 2.19 radio is the best choice. Usually the ROM cook will recommend a certain radio ROM in the ROM thread (normally in the first post).

I have a T-Mobile MDA G3 and I'm using the most up to date "official" ROM on the T-Mobile website (ROM version: 2.26.10.2 WWE).

2.19 will still work. just go to the top sticky in this forum and there are several different Radio Roms for you to chose from. If you try 2.19 and it happens not to work just pick another one to flash. Radio Roms flash easily and you don't lose any of the information on your phone.
Ok, I thought it as the top sticky in this forum. I think I've been spending way too much time in here lately. Anyway, they are around here somewhere but if for some reason you can't find them let me know and I'll up any of them you want to try. I have most of them.

Major problems with Radio need advice

Ok, I just picked up this phone and am having major problems with the Radio reception.
Peoples phone calls either go straight into my voicemail, or I receive the call put reception is broken, I can hear a word or two every few seconds, and the other person cannot hear anything.
I'm on Rogers in Canada, anyone using this phone in Canada or on Rogers can advise which radio rom to use? I have flashed at least 6 already, even the Murata one and still no success... any help or suggestions would be great.
Just flashed the original back WWE_3.13.405.0_radio_sign_25.85.30.07_1.59.42.15_Ship.exe and its a tiny bit better, where it doesnt go straight to voice mail, but reception is horrid still, inaudible.
try flashing radio 1.59.44.02... then hard reset see if that helps
Hi Lokosis,
Your signature does not give an idea of which ROM you are using. However how's the reception on your other phone (elfin)? Are you using it on the same network? Since you have already used 1.59.44.02; try going back to 1.60 ROM and a Murata Radio.
Hi 02xda2, well I'm using the PDAVIET Rom, which is 3.18.457.46, which I thought I had in my signature. The reception on my Elfin is 100% and have never had a problem, but when using the same sim card in the Polaris I'm having those major issues. The Polaris is CID/SIM unlocked already using Oli's HardSPL. I'll try flashing the 1.60 right now with the Murata and reply with results.

That's actually the first Radio I had installed, and had no luck at all with it.
UPDATE #1: Just tried the with PDAVIET V30 CE OS 5.2.20748 (Build 20748.1.4.0) along with the Murata 1.58.21.23 Radio, same problems as mentioned before. I'm also going through Settings>Phone>Band and changing it to GSM, but still the problems remain.. any suggestions?
UPDATE #2: I'v flashed the RUU_Polaris_HTC_RUS_1.25.411.1_radio_sign_25.65.30.04_1.58.21.23_polaris_murata_Ship.exe rom as suggested in another thread, and managed to get perfect sound received, and decent sent. Unfortunately I can't read Russian, so I managed to get the RUU_Polaris_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_radio_sign_25.65.30.04_1.58.21.23_Ship.exe which is the WWE counterpart to the RUS version, tried it with the stock Radio and no luck, flashed the Murato Radio onto the WWE and it was back to horrible.
UPDATE #3: So the only solution right now is the RUS rom, but I can't function with that as I don't read Russian. So running the HTC RUS update with radio, then flashing a new WWE rom without radio on top will work. Also atl4ntys's suggestions (below) most likely is worthy of a shot as well .
This phone being a bit aged and maybe out of warranty, how is HTC with their warranties/repairs?
hey Lokosis, have u tried c_shekhar's rom? its extremely stable, its wwe and also includes radio. u find the link in my signature. if the radio that comes with it doesn't do the job 4u then upgrade to the latest 1.58 available: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479306
If still bad signal then the only thing I can say is to falsh the original spl rom and radio and send it in for repair.
PS: Make sure u flash without the micro sd card in it and hard reset as soon as u see the config screen after u flash. good luck!

how do i downgrade Polaris rom?

I have just got a polaris PDA having owned previous versions many for many years. i have incredibly poor reception on the phone indoors. to the point it cannot connect to the network at all.
if I go out side everyting is fine. I have tried other Sim cards with no success and other phones in the house are fine so not reception issues.
Reading through the forums I have seen talk about Radio Version 1.58.21.23 which is supposed to be really good for phones with this issue.
Here's the problem - i have ROM 3.13.206.0 WWE which I believe will only take 1.59.*.* Radio's.
how can I revert back to a previous Rom/driver set so that i can use this 1.58 radio?
will it do me any good or is there something else i can try, i have already been right up to Radio 1.65.30.09 from the forum.
any ideas?
thanks
you could install a cooked rom that uses 1.58 radio.
both of the shekhar roms use 1.58 radio and the radio is included in the download. you'll find them on the first page of the forum.
if you want to stick with original rom, then take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381600 where there are a list of the original roms available.
if you've never flashed a cooked rom before or aren't sure how to go about it, the same post contains all the information you need.

Telstra Phone in USA, Should I upgrade to 1.66 WWE Rom?

Will that work? I am trying to make sure I stay on a "legal" ROM. Would I lose anything from a radio stack perspective? I need the US ATT bands to work? Any thoughts or recommendations?
Thanks!
I have a Telstra HD2 and I have changed the ROM, running Dutty's Holy Grail series, without any major problems so far. I get 3G on At&T just fine.
There should be no direct impact to the radio, if you go to the official 1.66 WWE Rom, but im no expert at that... you should ask the question in the RMO development forum

The bands your phone works on are hardware and are unchangeable. changing the rom will not impact on that.
I have a Telstra HD2 running Dutty's ROM - works great on AT&T 3G
It is based on the 1.66 ROM
I'm running a Telstra HD2 with the official 1.66 rom. I also changed to radio 2.07.51.05_02 I noticed much better battery life with this radio and with the stock telstra radio I kept having to refresh the data connection on ATT or it would loose it.

I have a Telstra and I am running Miri 6.5.xx ver 2.0 and it is must fast than the stock ROM or 1.66. Make sure you Hard SPL and then you can flash anyone's Leo Rom, it is great to get rid of all the extra software put on by Telstra. I have great 3g on ATT in CA.
Hope to get my phone by this Fri. So I can flash and enjoy the 3G.

AT&T US ROM/Radio Version Upgrades

Is anyone in US, on AT&T network with T8585 model, pleased with upgrades beyond:
ROM version 1.66.405.2
Radio version 2.06.51.07
That is what I'm running now, and am looking for any possibilities of increased performance on AT&T network in US. Has anyone installed upgrades beyond those versions and noticed significant improvements? Thanks.

Your Radio is fairly "old", might check the Radio Rom Threads, some of the newer radios perform better in some areas, for different people ....

Thanks for the quick help. Is the Radio Version dependent on whether it's the T-Mo version or the stock T8585?
As a rule of thumb, just make sure you stay in these forums rather than the TMobile HD2 forums (which are separate, and say TMobile in the name ) and you should be fine.
As to what's "best", it's different for every phone in every region. I'm currently running 2.12.x, but there are plenty running 2.07.50.x, 2.10.x, etc. Just try em out for a few days and see what works for you.

except that non tmous hd2 can flash all the tmous roms and radios, so no problem
Ah good to know.
With SPL v. 1.42.0000 installed, will that be sufficient to try various Radio Versions, or is it necessary to have a newer SPL version than that? Also, any direct link you are aware of for step by step radio version upgrade? If so, thanks in advance for saving me some time searching on my HD2 on Edge.

none of the spl's will allow you to flash radios. You need hspl.
(unless you meant to type you had hspl 1.42.hspl? 1.42.0000 is stock)
if you havent hspl yet, get hspl3 from mysig, (or the hspl thread) run it, choose 2.08.hspl, then you should be good for flashing roms, radios or whatever you like.
Tried a radio version upgrade to: 2.12.50.2_2. Wasn't working as it was cutting out voice on my calls every other second. Trying the version listed below and that seems to be working fine so far. Anyone else on AT&T US bands with T8585 having particular success with a specific version?
Hi all, Sorry to possibly hijack the thread, but I wanted to ask a quick question about flashing an HTC HD2 radio. I'll be getting my HD2 sometime this week (it's a TMobile US version) and I plan on using it on AT&T. I understand this shouldn't really be a problem out of the gate for normal call usage and data edge usage as the radio frequencies are the same.
However, I was wondering if it's possible to flash the T9193 radio rom onto the version I'll be getting (T8585 if I've been reading and learning everything correctly) so I can use the AT&T 3G 850mhz band?
No.

You won't get AT&T 3g connection with T8585 version (no radio will make T8585 get AT&T 3g connection since T8585 doesn't have 850mhz band). You get AT&t 3g if you have T9193.

Radio Question - HD2 Telstra T9193

Ok I looked a bit around and could not find a clear answer to my question so here it goes.
I have the HD2 Telstra T9193 and I want to update it with the best in Radio and ROM, so I started to look around for info, I read the:
FAQ FOR FLASHING HTC HD2 (LEO)
Graphical Questions & Answers: flashing ROM & HSPL
But now I have a question that came to my mind. I bought the T9193 because the frequency it uses is similar to what we use here in Brasil, diferent from the rest of the world, so installing a radio that works nice on most HD2 may cause problems with my T9193? I wonder that since the frequencies are diferent the radio might be not configured to use them, or perhaps this have nothing to do with the radio and will not make any diference.
What you think about this?
What radio should I install? Any suggestions?
How do I know wich radio is best for me? I should stay with the suggested radio for each rom or I can try with the latest and change it if I have problems?
Thank you very much for the help.
Felipe

Correct, radio has no effect on the frequencies.
Most people find 2.10.50. or higher work fine, with 2.11.50 and 2.15.50 seemingly most popular.
I'm using radio 2.14.50 on my T9193, works fine
BUT: please remember that one must 1st flash the radio ROM and then 2nd, flash the main ROM of your choice. If you flash the radio ROM 2nd (like a simple "update"), the various radio elements will do strange and annoying things
