I find myself on this site all day long to see if there are any new updates or what is new. The only thing I do not like is I can not do anything at work since I am not an administrator on my pc. So all of it has to wait until I get home.

Glad you like it here. We have been rather... lively lately, haven't we. Not sure what the deal is with the Epic section, but there was never anything but solidarity over in the Raphael forums (where I lurked for over a year)!
I find myself checking on here all day as well. Haha. It's addicting. (and I haven't even gotten my phone yet) But I do enjoy these forums better than Android Central. It just doesn't seem as active. Especially in the Epic section.
I currently have a pre and I really enjoyed the PreCentral forums. I was hoping to find the Android Central just as awesome. But I'm glad I came across this one.

Hey all. My device should be arriving within the next day or two. Been looking for a decent tab at this very price point. Been hearing good reviews about it. I'm pretty excited. I haven't had the time yet to thoroughly review much of the threads here. I just wanted to ask you guys to post some of the most useful links here so I can get a head start on my device. Much appreciated. Also i heard this device comes with root access but from reading a Lil from the thread, not full root. So can someone give me a brief overview of all of this devices dev accomplishments and capabilities with having full root? Thx.

Best thing you can do is flash Urukdroid on it. Easy install, much smoother.
Think you need full root to run apps like Titanium Backup. You have it with the custom rom anyway once you flash.
Just dont sit on the bloody thing.
I'll do up a screen replacement thread if it ever arrives
Not dev. Please post in the correct sections.
On that note, thread closed.
Since the mods have seen fit to lock all three threads relating to Honeycomb 3.2's launch tomorrow, I'm starting somewhere else that we can discuss this important news.
Perhaps the mods might consider merging threads rather than locking them, in future (especially when there was only a 4 minute difference in start time on the first two threads -- there's every chance that when the second thread poster started typing his post, the other one didn't exist yet.)
To get folks up to speed, here are the locked threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188621
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188627
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188754
Important info from these:
* HC 3.2 will be out for the Transformer in at least some markets tomorrow
* According to ComputerWorld, writing to SD isn't possible in HC 3.2. Hopefully this is specific to the Xoom, as this is a feature I use VERY regularly, and I'll be furious if it is removed.
the mod still referenced the whole SEARCH BEFORE POSTING RULE...
</removed tacky non-productive, useless comment>
I am amazed at how well Asus is at getting updates out. Granted my only previous experience in Android was with Samsung (Captivate) which is awesome in the Dev world (XDA devs really do awesome stuff on the Cappy), but Samsung and updates (whether it's their fault or not) have not been a good experience... plus I don't think they even do OTAs.
Asus has my attention, I'll keep an eye on what they continue to offer.
That second point really concerns me and I hope it's a generalisation.
Right now, I have Titanium Backup backing up to /Removable/MicroSD/TitaniumBackup. I do this primarily to keep the backups safe in the event I have to NVFlash the device and lose the contents of /mnt/sdcard (this has happened to me already!)
i bet we will see custom 3.2 from some of the well knowns within hours of it dropping. In other words, by the time Im awake, 3.2 will be an CWM update
Asus and the Dev's here are doing GREAT!

As I said, there was four minutes between threads. There's every chance that the second poster checked and there was no thread, then he spent 4+ minutes typing his own post.
But either way, there's no reason to lock a thread (still leaving a separate, duplicate thread which everybody sees and reads, but then can't reply to), rather than simply merging the two threads.
And it seems even more baffling to lock two threads as dupes, link to the supposed original, and then lock that too without any reason why, leaving people with nowhere to discuss what's one of the most important pieces of Transformer news in weeks...
I REALLY hope that the second point there is not true. I would not be as closed minded to say that it is not possible.....we just have to unlock it to make it possible.

I'm going to hope that at least 1 lock was an accident. That could happen... It's not normal to see a mod lock a thread without throwing a link to the rules in there for backup... but still... frustrating...
I modified my post to not be so tacky and to put it a little on topic... didn't really intend to steal your thread with whining..

Yeah, if the default firmware leaves us without write ability, this may be the point that finally pushes me to root my TF. I use this regularly, both to delete videos from my SD card when they've been watched (so I know what I've already watched), and to review raw files from my digital SLR, then delete the bad images to free up space. I also use the SD card as a way of transferring data between devices, because it's easier than faffing about with the network.
I am happy to see Asus doing these updates on such a regular basis. Since getting my second TF I have been increasing pleased with my purchase. Let's keep the momentum going.

Releasing lot of updates is one thing, all I want is fixes to some of issues we are having.
OK noob question here(only reason I ask is because Honeycomb and Tegra are completely different than any phone I have owned or do own). Will taking the OTA kill root on the Transformer? I probably won't accept it anyway and just wait for a flashable or nvflash 3.2 Rom. Anyway, thanks in advance folks.

Guys - my apologies. I locked the thread by mistake. I did not merge the other two duplicate threads as it creates a mess. I have reopened the original thread located here and this one will be cleaned up and closed. Again, my apologies.

I'm interested in replacing the 1/8" stereo out jack on my n4. It went out a few months back and I could have and still can start an rma with google but I enjoy DIY projects and this one would be a good learning experience. I'm just looking for suggestions or advice pertaining to aftermarket hardware components and the best route to take in acquiring them.
thanks!
Sweet, I'll check that out. Thanks.
Guess I'm just gonna have to bull**** my way past the oppressive 10 post initiation period. Time to go ask some stupid questions in the wrong categories without utilizing the search feature first.... :cyclops:
Hello All,
I recently installed a test game console emulator to see if it would work on my android head unit. Gladly, the emulator works and seems to operate at full speed. However, I tried to use my wireless xbox 360 controller and wireless receiver but it seems the system does not recognize it. I also tried using the xbox one bluetooth controller, but the system did not detect the controller via bluetooth. I then tried to install the wiimote but the wiimote controller app crashes once it detects the wiimote. Their website says they do not support android 4.2 and above yet.
Has anyone been interested in gaming on their android head unit and if so, have you tried using a variety of controllers? What has worked, and what hasn't?
I'm not too sure about what my android system's name is...it came in a generic white box. But I've posted pictures of the unit and information if that helps.
Thanks,
Scott
Gen Game New S3 is android 4.0+ I got it with my vr headset and use it with my firestick mostly, but it is legit straight across xbox similar. I have not tested it on a head unit but it's shown to be versatile thus far. You may need to get a bluetooth usb dongle but I doubt it.
USB dongle. Didn't think if that. Great idea! Thanks!
did the usb dongle work? mine didnt.
Note for others searching, contemplating posting - this thread is not Android Auto.
Also consider reviving a 3 year old post.

have you seen this issue addressed in these forums? been searching for weeks. and yes, we have an android tesla style head unit. we could open new threads, but i feel for continuity purposes and to help out those searching some closure here is warranted.

Since you still haven't figured it out, here's some helpful advice - you have a better chance of getting a useful response if you learn how to post in the correct forum.

well aware of that, but see that was immensely more helpful than your other post. suggest having the mods then move this to the correct area; going back to my earlier post about continuity. people who google will be drawn here, and not necessarily to my new post so it would probably be more efficient to move than post.
edit: actually, i DID post in a similar thread in the head unit section. so theres actually two threads about this. but i still suggest moving this.
If after reading the forums as you said, you would have found that it is not possible due to the hacky BT on these copycat devices
Also, if you wanted the thread moved, report it. I have.
Thread moved.
Also note numerous posts on why other BT devices, do not work on these hacked Chinese head units.
not sure “it is not possible” is a fact; or more likely improbable. there is a youtube video of an nvidia controller working on bt. i wanted to see if an xbox one controller works which i already own, instead of buying another controller.
Is anyone else having the issue that their controller buttons are binded to head unit controls from factory? I'm trying to play emulated games and the buttons do things like close the app, open the radio app, dim screen, etc etc
