Hello. I am thinking about switching from windows 6.5 to windows 7, but there is one thing that worries me. Is there a possibility that after ROM reset and installing windows phone 7 my simlock that I recently took returns?
Thanks in advance
no.. it will stay unlocked... i used wp7 to unlock it... at first i thought i wouldnt work but when i inserted a different simcard it asked for the code and accepted it... since then ive flashed around wm6 wp7 and android and it has stayed unlocked

I'm using WM6.5
i'm still waiting from 9h
after 4 days i've flashed an Android ROM
Hello everybody,
Yesterday I installed BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA WP7 SERIES V5 (build 7.0.7392.0) ROM on my HTC HD2. After a lot of research, I found that this version (7.0.7392.0) can't be unlocked, so today I install BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA WP7 SERIES V4 (build 7.0.7008.0). And now I'm trying to unlock my Windows Phone 7 using Chevron with no success.
I read all the articles, and Chevron still sayes:
"Sorry, I'm having trouble communicating with the phone.
- Please make sure it's connected using USB
- Please start the Zune application"
Please somebody help me. I really need to unlock my phone. I can run TeamViewer if someone wants to see what's happen.
Thanks in advance
Is your phone turned on?
Make sure the screen is on and unlocked.
Yes, my phone is on. My screen is unlocked too (btw Chevron won't stats if the screen is locked). Any other ideas ?
Try the hd20 v 1.12 ROM I installed it yesterday and side loaded some apps without any problems (its nodo updated by the way)

First of all, it's Windows Phone 7 (WP7). Secondly, yes you can go back to WM6.5 if you have a WM6.5 ROM or the stock ROM. Third, there is no program to unlock your phone. It's a code you get from your service provider. Also, your phone doesn't have to be unlocked to flash.
Follow the links in my signature to learn how flash and what you need to learn. Flashing is not for the timid....you do something incorrectly and you can brick your phone! Fair warning.
I know all about flashing for 6.5 cause i've done it probably 20 times. I just was not sure if it is different for 7. I am new to WP7 so that is what i am asking about. Thank you

Yes the process is different with a new flash utility on the front-end called MAGDLR. Follow the thread in my signature for how to install WP7. I would suggest you still use task29 like you did in the WM6.5 world.
Hello,
Sorry if this is stickied/posted or doesn't belong here but I can't find anything. I just recently flashed a Windows 7.5 rom on a HTC HD2 that's locked to T-Mobile, so I purchased an unlock code to try and use it on At&t but it doesn't work. I added the APN settings and nothing. Is it not possible to unlock? Does it need to be unlocked in Windows 6.5 stock state?
Rom Installed: [v4 Final Version] CTRLPDA FSM HD2 Mango ROM [03.01.2012]
FYI - Unlocked Sim Pin was also accepted but it still says no network found.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
carrier unlock can be done only in WM6.5 by unlock code

I wish to confirm this.
My friend tried to unlock with windows phone 7.5, but it would not take. It showed 'unlocked', but it did not unlock.
Went back to wm6.5 and it was OK. Then reinstalled 7.5 and it remained unlocked.
It was a lot of work really because a lot of time was put into the project in the end - trying to figure what was wrong with 7.5 then going back to 6.5 and loosing all the settings etc. So be warned!!!

settings from apps and games you can backup and restore with Windows Phone Device Manager v1.7.0.0 (unfortunately not work with public v1.8.0.0)
edit: new WPDM v1.9.0.0 working very fine
Thanks for helping out guys.
Another thing...can anyone confirm whether a custom 6.5 rom will work? I previously had an Energy rom and was wondering if it could have been done then?

Hi , i have HD2 with android rom that is locked to T-Mobile USA
i wanted to know if i buy unlock code (20$) and type it in the android rom will it unlock the phone or do i need windows mobile Rom ? because i can not flash windows mobile rom any more due to the volume button is destroyed ( the sticker that clicks is lost / both of them )
can i buy network unlock code and use it in android rom directly ?
thanks
I'm going to say "no, you must use winmo " because 99% of reports are that it doesn't work under android, however there are one or two posts where people claim that yes you can, however I believe they are mistaken.
I just unlocked mine with a free code from t-mobile. I uses android only. Seems no problem. I rebooted several time. It does not ask me Pin any more. Am using typhoon 3.8.1.
