I feel sorry for you mate, I know exactly what it feels like having gone thru it myself, just got it repaired yesterday (broke the digitizer).
If your in UK I can give you the address of the shop that fixed mine, it cost me £75 to replace the digitizer but it was well worth it, feels like a new phone again.
What's broken just the digitizer or both?
There is a thread here somewhere with a lot of information, if you want to DIY, I didn't have the guts for that, chose the easy way.

The post above mine is right your options are find a shop that does those kinds of repairs, they are a lot of them from what I gather. I live in the US and there is shop in my local area. You can also do it yourself (DIY as the other post said) you can find the parts on Ebay, and you will need a small hex head screw driver. If you have the EU model this might require some soldering by you, it has been some conflicting reports that some have to solder the connections and some just have to plug in the ribbons. If you have the T-Mobile model then it will not require any soldering just blug the ribbons into the main board

My HTC HD stopped responding to taps. Boots up OK. LCD is not cracked. I suspected touchscreen problem/ They checked my serial# and told that I'm still under warranty. Great ! So I sent device to HTC repair center in USA. They told me that it has a problem which is NOT covered by warranty and gave me HUGE price to fix it.
See email below

Dear Valued Customer,
This is documentation to provide suggested action repairs and quotation for
each service rendered.
RMA # xxxxxxxxx
Diagnosis:
LCD has Newton Ring
Suggested Repair:
Motherboard and LCD
Total Repair Price:
$546.08
------------------------------------------------------
Obviously I do not want to repair at that price. I can buy new HTC HD at this price. Can somebody explain what is
1. Newton ring
2. Why do I need to replace motherboard if phone boots up FINE ?
Anyway I asked HTC to NOT repair my phone and send it back. Can somebody recommend me good mail-in repair center in USA ? Some people can replace touchscreen/LCD by themselves, but that is NOT me

Here's an alternative worth looking at if you still wanna keep an HD
sell it AS-IS Broken on ebay...get about $200 for it.
Buy as USED one on ebay for bout $350.
You'll be out of $150...there thats a reasonable repair cost.
Just an idea..I have seen broken items go for a considerable amount of change on ebay( people use the parts, repair them themselves, all sorts of things), Any repair charge is gonna be over $100 unless you do it yourself so its worth looking into imo.

Actually, it will be more then $150. Because of eBay/PayPal fees And I know that my HD was in InvisibleSHIELD from day 1. It will be hard to buy such "like new cosmetic condition" HD for $350
I'll try local repair shops. Here I was wondering if somebody used REPUTABLE online repairs.
Yea...maybe so then.
Im in the US too, I'll keep an ear out for ya. If I come across anything I'll shoot ya a PM or post it. Good luck, homie!!
I've cracked my screen
Went go-karting today and got thrown around so much in the kart that the screen cracked.
So, what's the best way about getting it repaired?
Can I just send it straight back to HTC UK and get the screen replaced under warranty? My phone is rooted, but not unlocked.
I have not returned a phone yet, but as many have stated, "it does not void your warranty to root, only to unlock the bootloader" so in theory you should just be able to send it in.
.....except that warranty won't cover a cracked screen.. I think the going rate was $280?
are you insured through assurion?
You broke it, you buy it.

I dropped my N1 on the floor in my house (stone floors) two weeks ago and cracked the glass screen.. picked up a new glass screen on ebay for $38 shipped and spent about two hours replacing it myself.. turned out perfect.. just be very patient and take your time during the replacement process.
This is the damage, I don't think the glass is broken so is it just the LCD screen beneath that I'll need to replace?

No, it's the digitizer/screen. The display would be a lot more expensive to replace.
Hi mate.. if the amoled still works you are fine yiu would just need a new digitalizer, about £20 from ebay and fix it youself.. if the amolded wkrks you need a new lcd, £45 from ebay.. i nroke my amoled, fixed it and now works.. good luck!!

If that's the case, then why when I power it on does nothing appear?
It vibrates when booting so I know its working?
when i dropped my nexus one, the amoled broke, not the outer screen/digitizer. i believe the cost for a new amoled was around $85 plus shipping and it would also cost your warranty. therefore, i sent it back in for repair and it cost $115 total, warranty still intact. btw, i opted for a refurb unit instead of waiting for them to return my damaged unit.
good luck, you have to decide if its worth voiding your warranty to fix it yourself.

Sorry I missed that part.. Yeah if it's not showing anything the display has problems, although I find it odd it would break but not the digitizer.

Yeah strange isn't it, anyway, HTC are collecting it tomorrow, I'll have an estimate for repair in a few days. No idea how much it's going to be just yet.

It is gonna be high! You wille get 3 options..1) fix the phone for a very high price 2) get the phone and pay around $40 for the labour and delivery 3) dispose of the phone for free by htc.. so pretty much re use the parts for another phone..
Not a sencible choice calling htc in my opinion

Having searched the internets I've found reports of people having it fixed by HTC UK for between £60 - £100
Also, I was told if I didn't want them to carry out the work there would be a £20 fee to return the phone to cover postage and the engineers time.
I think you're estimates are way off, however, I'm going to wait until I get my quote or I'll be eating my words...

I'm impressed t0ph0id, I accidently got a slight scratch on my week old N1, it's small but I know it's there and I'm really upset about it.
You have properly screwed the screen and you seem ok with it
Wish I could be as relaxed as that haha.
Hey buddy i had the same issue with my desire.. cracked in a similar way, HTC quoted me £238 for screen, housing, new logic board & labour.. even asked them just to replaced the screen cos i did see anything wrong with the housing but they said they couldn't do it cos motherboard had been bent..
so just got a replacement lcd from ebay at £45, took 45mins to fit the new screen everything working correctly
oh and the logic board wasn't bent! cheeky HTC

I've already spoken my mobile insurance and they repair/replace accidental damage so I know I can go through them if it's going to cost too much.
They'll repair, replace, give an alternative if they don't have the model or give a cash equivalent.
Yep haha, seems hard when yoyr trying to take it apart and not brake any bits off, but now.. soo proud of myself! Never thoughed I would ever be in my phone, sick thought, jehe

Yep. I bricked my HD2 by flashing the 51. Last night, half asleep I did it. I was running droid for about 2 weeks no issues. Phone is dead, won't power on. Tmobiles policy is because I didn't buy the phone from them, they will not warranty it. HTC service center is opened M-F.. If they dont want to fix it, anyone know of any online sources that would like to fix this?
Phone is completely bricked, doesn't power on. No led lights. Seems loader / spl is gone. Paper weight. I know theres 10000 threads about bricks, but I didn't see any about repair centers or reputable members of this great community who are unbricking them. Any ideas?
Sorry to hear that. Others might know how to get it back up running but in case no one does. Not sure how it is in the States but in Switzerland I never had luck with Official HTC Repair Centers. They might be able to fix something realy easy like doing a hardreset. but they always quoted me a huge price to fix anything else. Basically replacing it for the original full price. For about a third of that I was able to buy a new one on Ebay. Got my last T-Mobile HD2 for $242. If your old one is still in good cosmetic condition you can still sell if for parts and get atleast $120 to $200 depending on how you do it. The HD2 Screen and Digitizer is worth allot of money because its so big. But I hope you find someone that knows how to fix it. Good luck.
Yeah your HD2 is completely and hopelessly bricked if you flashed a .51 radio. Currently there is no way that we know of to recover from this, other than sending it to HTC and letting them fix/or replace it. You are looking at around 150USD +/- if in warranty, and God knows how much if you aren't. Don't be sleepy and flash kids!
Wow,
Even with JTAG there is no way to recover? That is such fail on HTC behalf...
I know that its negligence on my behalf for flashing it, but the fact that it bricks the devices like this is just
And if the phone is under warranty .. lets say power goes out when flashing an official tmo rom.. wouldnt it brick in the same sense?
yes jtag willdo it, but its about 100 dollars for the kit, and you have to totally dismantle the phone.
I've used the Riff-Box to un-brick my HD2 but I'm no electrical engineer. There are some engineers at the following link (hxxp://preview.tinyurl.com/25unuds) that offer to repair a range of devices. Hope you find someone local
ty. There are two local people here in the usa
Thanks!!
I bought my phone on craigslist with a cracked screen.. I also bricked my phone from flashin .51 without paying attention..
I called HTC and told her directly what I did, she told me they could fix it with no problem.. and that it would be between $50 and $170..
When they got the phone, she told me they had to replace the motherboard in my phone and would do it for free as long as I paid for the cracked screen, which was $120.
I have my phone back now, good as new

How long did the warranty process and shipping take?
Did you have a different SPL? Because I was running droid on mine.
But if I tried to flash to the .51 wouldnt this reset the spl?

i suspect htc use screens and boards pre assembled when doing repairs. a friend had his cracked glass repaired (paid repair by htc) and i sent mine in with a faulty usb port(so new board, screen fine) and in both cases we got new boards and screens, but the back of the phone was the same.(both have full body zag, still in place, but not on the screen, plus new imei numbers.)
my touch doesnt work on the phone
it was working but now it doesnt
any suggestions?
did not get wet or damaged.
Your 'digitizer' is shot and needs to be replaced. If your phone is in warranty, send to HTC and they will repair it (must remove HSPL, etc.). If out of warranty or your phone is 'modded' they'll charge you ~ $120. Mine was repaired under warranty and shipped back within 2 days.

do u think its worth the 120?
If you read around a little, this faulty hardware (the digitizer) has been an issue on many HTC devices..and in our case the HD2. I believe they repair it with a replacement that will no longer be prone to failure down the line..which is a reason I would tell you to have it repaired for $120 rather than buy a used one out there for $200+ that may have the same issue down the line.
Option #1 would be free repair by warranty. Option #2 is a new HD2 from T-Mobile (upgrade) that'll cost you less than $100. Option #3 is the $120 repair by HTC.
I really think your phone may still be in warranty. Even if you bought it used, it doesn't matter...just tell them you bought it new at a T-Mobile store when they ask...they'll see if you're in warranty when you tell them your IMEI
Hey guys, I sent my HD2 to htc to get it
repaired and they tried charging me...
get ready for it... £340
So I told them to send it back, and when they
did, I took it to the local phone repair shop and they
fixed it for only £40
So basically if htc try to charge you an outrageous
amount of money, just take it to a local repair shop
what was wrong with it, £40 sounds minor, if that included parts and labour.

The digitizer had broken, but htc said that they would have to replace the motherboard and other parts.
Same thing happened with my friend. HTC told same thing to him.. In India, local shops dont keep its digitizer, so he just ordered one from ebay for about 25 dollars. then he saw a video on youtube guiding how to replace HD2 digitizer and in an hour he replaced it himself ...
