I noticed this earlier, I accidentally swiped right on a message in my notification bar, and it cleared the notification. I'm on CM 6.1.1. I tried it with my gf's Optimus T and it didn't work.

Are you asking why the difference? Swiping to dismiss individual notifications is a feature added to CM ROMs I think back in CM6.1 (you can go check the change logs if you want to find out when for sure). Unless she is running CM6 or above, her ROM probably doesn't have that feature.
Ok, I had no idea it was a recent cm feature. Thanks!
I never knew this. Pretty sweet, thanks.

Nor me,... wow.
Yea this is a feature of CM6 and CM7. I figured it out a few months back. Its very useful when you have a bunch of good notifications you wanna keep and a bunch of stupid ones from cluttering it up.

Hi All,
Hopefully a quick one for you. I have recently installed cyanogen 6.0.2.1 and I'm loving it so far.
However one thing I'm missing is the notification of unread messages on the message icon.
I have the "messages" shortcut added to my ADW bar, and when I receive a new message I was expecting it to have a little (1) next to it like some of the other OS I've tried.
Been through the options and can't seem to find anything, is there a way to add this functionality?
Thanks in advance for any help

ADWNotifier. That is obviously assuming you haven't edited the rom and are using ADW which comes with it...

Yep that's what I was looking for. Thanks
And (if) you switch to LauncherPro, there is a setting for it as well. [Not hijacking, just informing in advance in case you decide to switch launchers]
Well not necessarily hijacking at all...good on you tbh, cuz anyone who's using launcher pro will know now

can anyone please tell me how i add icon to my adw bar ?
Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get the puzzle lock screen to show the puzzle piece that comes up when you get a text. Currently I have to unlock then go to messages instead of just having the shortcut right to the new message. I am currently running dl09 with blackhole 3.0, but I also tried with super clean .4 and it didn't work for me. I could be doing something wrong when I flash but it never worked for me ever since I flashed dj05 i believe.
Thanks for the help this forum really is a wealth of knowledge

Do you have the puzzle piece lockscreen installed? Most custom roms have the stock ockscreen installed. Since you are using black hole I would assume you knew to pick it during the customization. Unless you did not download and install through clockwork.

Sorry should have said that... Yes I installed the puzzle lock option through clockwork. Whats weird I think is that when i get a missed call I get the puzzle piece on my lock screen for that... just not for new text messages
That is very odd... Haven't heard of on notification working and the other not. Are you using a different app like handcent or gosms instead of the stock sms app?
Sent from my better built sammy iphone knockoff
Do you have the stock Touchwiz Messaging App with the speech bubbles? I know plenty of ROMs switch it out for the AOSP Messaging App, and if you don't have the Touchwiz's Messaging then the puzzle icon for text doesn't work. If by chance you do have it, then no idea what other causes there are.

AHAHAHA finally It Works!!! I had always chose to use the dark mms option on the blackhole build your own. I changed it to the colorful one and it is working!!! haha thanks guys for the help... I never would have guessed that that was what was making it not work. I just thought it change my text message color haha... I love this forum just wish I knew more so I could actually help others instead of just reading and asking questions lol.
Again guys thanks.

Personally, CM is my rom of choice. However, there are a few features which i love from MIUI. Which feature would be YOUR favorite to see recreated to the rom of your choice?
Here are a few features with screenshots...
1) Phone Smart Dialer w/ recorder etc.
2) Dropdown menu "shortcuts" (scrollable settings toggle ex. wifi, gps etc)
3) File Explorer Apk
4) Monitor Apk with firewall features, traffic control settings etc (see pics)
5) Lockscreen Music controls (w/ phone, sms count)
6) Look of MIUI along w/ iphone type launcher (lack of)
7) Misc. Settings Features: dnd, security (device administrators), backup options
8) Any other feature I have missed here!
here's a few more:
9.) Long press on back button to fully close app
10.) Long press Home for recent/app killer/app manager
11.) BUILT IN THEMING (Theme Downloader/ Theme Manager)
12.) MIUI Backup
13.) Many launcher animations
MIUI itself is closed source, so, none of it will be ported easily. :/
I do like the dialer though.
wow! you guys were fast!! ...here were the other screenshots.

correct, i should have left it as "recreated" as i did in the post. (Not "ported") ...the dialer is nice. I love the music/equilizer lockscreen feature (for looks primarily) If i didn't have unlimited text, data etc. being able to set limits w/ the traffic filter and data management would be nice too.
-visitor mode to hide text and phone

All I want is the ability to clear the phantom cm notification like cm has. Then I would use miui.

I know, but that's a pain and not necessary with cm6 and cm7, which is why I want the feature in miui.
File Explorer is better than Astro... and I didn't think it would be. It is so advanced.

Its my understanding that in CM you can clear it but it still returns, only having to clear it again. This method gets rid of it permanently and only takes about 30 minutes. I had to redo my setup and used that as my excuse to take care of this, and im glad i did.
Uhmmm why the hell does miui look like ios?

You can choose to never show the icon in cm. We need that option in miui.
Miui backup app
Hi,
how can I get the standalone MIUI backup app?
I need to restore the phone registry on a non-MIUI ROM, is that possible?
Thank you.
It's the apps. So many apps that are pay-for quality ate bundled in MIUI it makes it hard to stay away.
File Explorer with it's FTP abilities, usage monitoring and automatic throttling, firewall, built-in tethering...it's just very complete.
Then there is the graphical polish in menus, lock screen, etc.
If it wasn't closed source it would be the perfect ROM.

I would NOT like to see any off MIUI stuff in sense... I would like opposite, sense battery life, 4G and camera quality in MIUI.
Right now testing MIUI and those 3 things are weak... but nice fresh look, and feels almost as new phone...
I use Lockmenu as my lockscreen replacement, its free, looks kinda aosp with customazible sliders, but I miss the tw lockscreen tht notifies you of unread messages and calls. I have one set to unlock, and one set to go to messages. I think a good tasker setup would be this: Normal setup would just be the unlock slider. Then if I have an unread text, tasker sets up the messaging slider for the other side, then when all messages become unread, tasker removes the messaging slider. Just an idea for people that like the touchwiz functionality, but want an aosp-ish look. If you think this is useful, remember to say so, or hit the thanks button please.

I might mess around with tasker to see if this is possible.. I use goto lockscreen as my replacement. I have a normal unlock slider, but I have allowed interactions to my GoSMS widget can be interacted with. I like the idea of an appropriate slider just showing up and taking you to the messsaging app if there are new mesasges though..
Worth looking into.
Cool, i'd try, but i cant get paid apps for my phone.

I use launcherpro plus with LockMenue over it. I still have LP as my default so when u r on lockscreen u can still use pulldown and still press home button without having to unlock. I also use No Lock program so that I don't get the random unlocks from the actual android system.
Works great for me. One rocker takes me to Zee Favorites which is the best favorites program on android. One takes me to Contact Group Manager. One to Handcent. One to shazam. One to Alt Tab which is awesome for bookmarking in Dolphin.

Im really addicted to all my Word games like wordsmith, wordfeud and words with friends on ipod touch, android one is way to glitchy to hold a spot on my phone, i only have good apps on my phone.
But i love android and my best friend is jeoulous of some of the apps i have that he will never have and the customization i have that he will never have cause he has an iphone

Hey quick question, I know there's prefab tasker routines out there, any sugguestions?? recently got it, and its awesome, insane power, but I honestly dont have time to do em all... and I know most I would use are really common. I have programmed RTI, URC, and Pronto remotes back when those things were the top end, but I just dont have time for most of it anymore... the 4 year old wont have it.
I just installed my first ROM on my Nexus 4, AOKP Build 2. YAY, I broke my Flashing Rom Cherry...
Anyways, there is this blue circle symbol on the top left portion of the status bar. I have a picture posted, but is there anyway to get rid of this.
This is a new installation and it seems to keep showing up. Please and thank you for the help.
I haven't used AOKP in a while but that looks like a battery app you have showing up in the notification bar. Identify the app and disable the notification.
That's the thing, I have no idea which app. I flashed an unrooted Jelly Bean and then the AOKP 2 but both times this icon keeps showing up.
That has nothing to do with the rom, notifications in the top left are ALWAYS caused by apps.
It's there a notification when you pull the bar down? If so long press it and select app info to see which app is causing it

It's one of your apps. Are you leaving the option to restore from your Google account checked? If so, one of the apps being restored is the culprit. Takes some screenies of your app drawer. Maybe we can help you narrow it down.
I don't even have that many apps installed, and I have neither made nandroid backups nor backups in general. It's not a big deal, but would rather use the ROM's version of battery percentage indicator.
Long press the notification and press "app info" that appears.
Then you have the name of the offending app
