I use Lockmenu as my lockscreen replacement, its free, looks kinda aosp with customazible sliders, but I miss the tw lockscreen tht notifies you of unread messages and calls. I have one set to unlock, and one set to go to messages. I think a good tasker setup would be this: Normal setup would just be the unlock slider. Then if I have an unread text, tasker sets up the messaging slider for the other side, then when all messages become unread, tasker removes the messaging slider. Just an idea for people that like the touchwiz functionality, but want an aosp-ish look. If you think this is useful, remember to say so, or hit the thanks button please.

I might mess around with tasker to see if this is possible.. I use goto lockscreen as my replacement. I have a normal unlock slider, but I have allowed interactions to my GoSMS widget can be interacted with. I like the idea of an appropriate slider just showing up and taking you to the messsaging app if there are new mesasges though..
Worth looking into.

I use launcherpro plus with LockMenue over it. I still have LP as my default so when u r on lockscreen u can still use pulldown and still press home button without having to unlock. I also use No Lock program so that I don't get the random unlocks from the actual android system.
Works great for me. One rocker takes me to Zee Favorites which is the best favorites program on android. One takes me to Contact Group Manager. One to Handcent. One to shazam. One to Alt Tab which is awesome for bookmarking in Dolphin.

Im really addicted to all my Word games like wordsmith, wordfeud and words with friends on ipod touch, android one is way to glitchy to hold a spot on my phone, i only have good apps on my phone.
But i love android and my best friend is jeoulous of some of the apps i have that he will never have and the customization i have that he will never have cause he has an iphone

Hey quick question, I know there's prefab tasker routines out there, any sugguestions?? recently got it, and its awesome, insane power, but I honestly dont have time to do em all... and I know most I would use are really common. I have programmed RTI, URC, and Pronto remotes back when those things were the top end, but I just dont have time for most of it anymore... the 4 year old wont have it.

I thought I just throw it out here since there are so many people complain about how bad touchwiz is.
What do you like about TouchWiz interface on Galaxy S?
One thing I really like is how music players stack up onto the pull down taskbar as well as on the lock screen where you can stop, change track and play your musics without unlocking your phone.
I only like the lock screen missed call or missed sms notification.
Other than that it's crap.
I use adw for everything else.

Sliding across the notifications bar to adjust brightness.
The Touchwiz Corporate Email client is MUCH better than stock Android. Much.
The Notification panel is the best stock panel on Android, and nothing aftermarket even comes close.
The stock Clock application has a great "Smart Alarm".
Task Manager, which is just a long-press of the Home button away.
Built in "My Files" application, no need to download something like Astro.
Memo and Mini Diary are quite useful.
Very solid SNS integration into Contacts, complete with pictures.
A pretty damned good stock dialer.
A pretty good stock keyboard (and Swype too!)
The best stock Music Player IMHO. Equalizer presets!
The best stock Video Player, bar none. Divx, MKV, AVI, it plays them all.
AllShare actually works, and is actually useful and fun.
Ability to change system fonts on the fly, and to download or create your own.
Road SMS just for ****s and giggles.
Integrated Calendar (Exchange, Google, etc.)
Car Home and Desk Home launchers are nice.
How friendly TW3.0 is to 3rd party launchers.
I'm sure there's more, but the long and short of it is, TouchWiz 3.0 is pretty damned good. I don't use the TWLauncher either, but most of that is habit, having used ADW and LauncherPro for months.

I love TW3.0 I've tried all other launchers and they dont really compare to the functionality that TW3.0 offers altho most of the launchers are just home screen and application drawer replacements.
My only gripe is that samsung should have added a msg counter on the messaging icon like on the wave... everything else is great for me!
Nothing of these things have to do with touchwiz. Im on launcher pro and can do the same. The only thing missing are the samsung widgets.
Ps. On launcher pro you get msg and call counter in the dock icons

What i like in TW3.0 is that apps are divided to pages. I don't like scrolling, scrolling and scrolling to find my apps in other launchers. I know on which page i have app that i need right now so i jump quickly there and launch it.
I tried ADW Launcher and LauncherPro but don´t like them. They feel a lot more incomplete and slower compared to TW3. I can´t complain about the speed of TW3 and i really like the the Screenlock, and the notifications for missed calls and sms
Twlauncher isn't the only part of the phone that's changed by TouchWiz, as listed above.
I also use LauncherPro, mainly because I prefer its vertical sliding application list, but the notification icons and integration with media players is nice. I have no argument with the lock screen either - again, the music player integration is useful. The Task Manager in newer builds is also pretty decent and good to see in a stock ROM.
The TouchWiz customisations you can't remove/bypass are pretty good, and because you can change default handlers in Android, it's no big deal to use alternative launchers and applications. I was concerned about not having HTC Sense, but happy with this.
I currently switched from LauncherPro to TouchWiz recently, just because I like variation. I might use ADW instead next week. There's nothing bad about TouchWiz to make me not use it. Nice to see other people supporting the stock software.
TouchWiz 3.0 is Good!!
I am not sure why there is so much of TouchWiz hate. But once one would come out of the "only Sense/ADW is good", they would really see what all functionalities have been added to TouchWiz to make it look good and actually work well.
I really like it.
And I really wonder if Sense can do this much!!

I like certain aspect of TW, sort of like the horizontal scroll applications page but wish there was a way to reorder things alphabetically without clearing the data. Manually sorting applications according to type etc. is useful but then sort of duplicates what the home screens are for. Like the icon display on TW as well with their button backgrounds as opposed to plain icons in Launcher Pro.

I love touchwiz that when I slide, if I touched the app icons first for like 0.2 sec and slide, it will still give me a slide.
If I do it on ADW or LauncherPro, it will act like I'm holding that icon. Like I hold icons from drawer to place at home screen.
I don't know how to explain this, my english is not very good. Hope you understand.
ok, i have an evo now, LOVVEE IT, but also looking at picking up an epic and giving evo to gf. but the one biggest thing thats killing me on the epic is not being able to customize the bottom dock, i dont use messaging, i use google voice and would need that at the bottom.
is their any way to change those icons? (WITHOUT USING ANOTHER LAUNCHER, I like the touchwiz UI, and dont wanna use adw or launcherpro etc...)
I heard this feature was removed from the current UI. Apparently there were some problems with touchwiz 3.0, and they removed a few features to get rid of a few of the bugs..
Touchwiz on the epic is essentially stripped down compared to the Vibrant and captivate... although this may change with the 2.2 update..
so it doesnt have ANY way? not even with root? ah. that kills it for me, i dont even touch the messaging app, idk the last time i did...
I'm just curious why not use the messaging app las time i tried google voice it was too slow.
well i have multiple phones and GV is PERFECT for it, and yeah GV used to be HORRIBLE, but now they have push sms, so its pretty instant, and i cant text from my pc etc... the ONLY downside to gv is no mms yet. idk i just REALLY dont want a app on a dock that im never gonna touch..
I love my evo very good, no problems, honestly the draw to the epic for me is the touchwiz fetures, not so much the UI itsself, but the unique features. the speed and the screen.
just not sure if its worth going from an evo to epic
Touchwiz 3.0 does not support landscape thats why they used 2.5. You may be able to change this later on if a developer can port touchwiz 3.0 but then you would not have landscape support in touchwiz.
This is the 4th thread about this exact issue
Solution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770529
Just download Handcent. When you hit the messaging icon at the bottom it will ask you if you want to use the stock app or Handcent (then you can check - remember this choice). Now whenever you hit the SMS icon (it will still appear to be the same...). It will open Handcent.
Click to collapse
This might work for the other buttons as well, if you clear the defaults in said applications. That is done under the Settings > Applications, find the app and hit the "Clear Defaults" button.
How does using Handcent fix anything for those of us that want the bottom dock button to launch Google Voice?
Did you read the question?

Hi,
I'm looking for some good lock screen replacements.
Time of day, email/sms count, battery power, weather? would all be nice to have on a lock screen.
Prefer free but I'm willing to shell out a couple bucks if there aren't any free options.
Thanks!

- Widget Locker
Anyone know of any flashable lockscreens? Not apps. As I'm also quite bored of the drag down unlcoker.
widgetlocker is worth the money! couple of different unlocking styles + add any widget that you want... love it!

Nope. No app from the market would be able to do that. You'd have to change rom for that. But even then its either sense down slide or vanilla across slide.
Widget locker has an option to hide the popup till you unlock. I haven't tested it but its there.

Nope, not unless a dev has removed ALL of the sense lockscreen, which most dont, and replace with the vanilla.
However, I think someone posted on here about adb pushing the vanilla lockscreen (rotary or slide) to sense roms. Not sure if it replaces the call slider but might be worth a try.

Widgetlocker has gives you rotary locksreen among others but it doesn't affect on call slider
With widget locker is there a way to prevent the default lock screen from popping up first?
I purchased it last night but the delay where the default lock screen shows up first is pretty disappointing.

Thats what I was saying. No apps will change the call slider. Hence why I said to try the adb push method.
Search the forum for the adb push vanilla/rotary lockscreen as that might change the call slider.

Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get the puzzle lock screen to show the puzzle piece that comes up when you get a text. Currently I have to unlock then go to messages instead of just having the shortcut right to the new message. I am currently running dl09 with blackhole 3.0, but I also tried with super clean .4 and it didn't work for me. I could be doing something wrong when I flash but it never worked for me ever since I flashed dj05 i believe.
Thanks for the help this forum really is a wealth of knowledge

Do you have the puzzle piece lockscreen installed? Most custom roms have the stock ockscreen installed. Since you are using black hole I would assume you knew to pick it during the customization. Unless you did not download and install through clockwork.
Sent from my better built sammy iphone knockoff
Sorry should have said that... Yes I installed the puzzle lock option through clockwork. Whats weird I think is that when i get a missed call I get the puzzle piece on my lock screen for that... just not for new text messages
That is very odd... Haven't heard of on notification working and the other not. Are you using a different app like handcent or gosms instead of the stock sms app?
Sent from my better built sammy iphone knockoff
Do you have the stock Touchwiz Messaging App with the speech bubbles? I know plenty of ROMs switch it out for the AOSP Messaging App, and if you don't have the Touchwiz's Messaging then the puzzle icon for text doesn't work. If by chance you do have it, then no idea what other causes there are.

With the original tw launcher whenever you're using an app or game *for example Angry Birds* and you receive a call it shows up on the ticker. But when I use another Launcher *for example Go Launcher* and I play Angry Birds and I receive a call not only does it not show up in the ticker but it stops the game and the screen changes and shows me who's calling. is there a way to make the calls be show on the ticker while on Go launcher and using an app?

Hmm.. Well whenever you have two themes installed *For example Launcher 7 and TwLauncher and you haven't yet decided which to choose as default* the apps show the call in the ticker. But then let's just say I decide to use Launcher 7 as my default, then it stops working and the screen changes to the call. That confuses me.
I've posted on this topic before somewhere on this forum, but don't remember where.
The Touchwiz launcher has to be running for incoming calls to come to the ticker. I, too, find this feature indispensable on our phones.
I use LauncherPro. I have created an invisible shortcut to an "activity" that launchers Touchwiz launcher after I've rebooted my phone. Touchwiz comes up, I hit my home button and LauncherPro comes right back up. I never see Touchwiz again, but the service necessary to send incoming calls to the Ticker continues to run until I restart my phone again.
I tried GoLauncher but went back to LauncherPro. I can't remember why I did, but it might have been because I was unable to make a shortcut to launch Touchwiz. I don't remember.
So, I just have to remember to launch the shortcut anytime I've restarted my phone, and I'm good.
Touchwiz doesn't show up in the normal app list, so I needed the more granular set of options that "Activities" in LauncherPro provided.

I recall that work around. For me, it made the phone sluggish. But, that was also on a 07, which was a leak. Maybe it would work better with 09. I might give that a try again, and see what happens. I'd still like to come up with something that is more native, if I can eventually figure it out. But, for now, that is probably the best we have.

Yeah, I have no doubt that the majority of my complaints about Trailblazer101's mods making my homescreen respawn all the time were related to running two launchers simultaneously....although I'm fairly sure I tried NOT loading up TW and I still had incessant homescreen respawns.
It was your suggestion, that finally solved all of my life's problems. Using Rom Toolbox to cut out all kind of unnecessary crap running virtually eliminated my respawn issue altogether.
I think my phone runs excellently now...even with TW running in the background.
But don't let that deter you. I'd LOVE to find a way to launch minimal software for the ticker-incoming call feature as opposed to running TW fully.
