Well this thing keep frustrating me for a while and now i`m not so sure what about it.
My HD2 hangs when i start any of GPS related software such as IGo 8.3, Amigo or Primo.
Sometimes it takes a half an hour without problem and sometime it`s just hang when i want to create a route.
Screen is just freeze and only way to get it back is to remove battery and put it back again. Sometimes he just reset by itself.
I`ve tried 6-7 diferent version of IGo.
Tried it on several version of Dutty and Energy roms.
i`ve tried with 2 SD cards and tried to format from the phone.
All this i`ve tried with radion 2.15.50.
if you have any suggestion please respond what to do.
one thing i didn`t tried yet is to start navi software from Android but for now i would like to run Win Mo and some igo version.
Regards
I have Duttys V18 and the same ROM as you have. And I have not experienced the problems you described. So either it is a GPS problem (hardware) or a specific iGo configuration problem.
Did you use the same sys.txt for every iGo version?
Can you use Google maps without a problem?
HI,
i`ve tried several different sys.txt version even i take Igo from my friend which is running Primo without problem on his HD2 but in my HD2 have same problems.
Sometime it runs for about 45 mins without problem and sometimes hangs for a 2-3 minutes.
GPS hardware is OK because i`ve test it with some gps utility which comes with NRG roms and it seems OK.
When i start Primo finding satellites lasts maybe 10 -20 seconds which is great.
Have you tried the software on the stock ROM? If it still freezes then you may have a hardware issue, perhaps heat related as navigation is quite an intensive task.
There is two more things to try but i`m close to admit that it`s mainboard failure problem
1. to flash stock rom and try it
2. to flash android nand and to try somekind of Igo navigation for android.
Guys, i have the same issue,my HD2 hangs when i am starting iGO, i changed my Memory card to 16GB class4 in case if theres a prob with memory card, and still the same, i flashed many NAND Roms and had the same result, don`t know how to recognize AGPS hardware fault, i am going nutts, it gets hot when hangs in the bottom section back side down to the battery, in the memory and SIM card section, what to do? do i have to install Win mo or just consult a hardware engineer?, please assist and advise.
No good news!

I think I've finally understood and found out how to fix those strange camera issues ("cannot initialize camera" or "cannot capture frame data") that I faced several times, and I thought was due to whatever rom updates.
It seems that when your free space on memory card reaches a certain threshold (under 10% ?) those issues can arise (200MB seems to be the trigger for my 2 GB card)
The method that worked for me recently is to simply delete some files from the storage card to free some space (including the /DCIM directory) and then soft reset (no hard reset required): that worked well for me (although rebooting with the storage card out did not fix anything previously)
Please post yout feedback if you have such issues on Polaris (or I guess any other HTC camera) to confirm that it is a reliable fix (not like the "remove battery for 15 minutes" or "reflash your original radio rom")
I've 2GB microSD card, nearly 1GB is free. Camera doesn't work. Neither hard nor soft resets help.
Doesn't work
I have 2GB MicroSD card with 1985MB free.
And the cam not work.
It works only if I soft-reset and, If don't work again, I turn off pda, and take it without battery for 10 minutes.
Then I turn on it, and it works...
but after some time the problem repeat...
I guess my findings were not right...
after a few days of camera working, it appears that it does not work anymore (cannot initialize)
none of all known tricks makes it work again
Trully a pain that we do not understand the real reason behind that bug...
I had the same problem, and right after I soft-reset it was solved. However, now.. it's a no go, even after a soft-reset.
Havent tried hard-reset though.. cant be buggered knowing that a rom update will be released sometime soon.. or at least, i hope it will
Hello
i´ve got this Problem nearly three weeks. I´ve installed a new rom and Nadavi camera. Nothing turn the Camera Problem. Sometimes it works sometimes not. I´ve got the idea that the Software that is installed on the device cause the Problem. When i want to send a mms from the camera the camera strikes after that. When i used Mobile Navigator 5.0 the Camera strike again.
I don´t have an exactly answer for the Problem but i´m pissed of!!!! HTC can´t help already
Greetigs Aragorn
P.S. hope you understand my bad english
Seems as a Touch Cruise problem and firmware updates
Please. Is there anyone who have HTC Touch Cruise (Not Orbit, not XDA) bought with the name "HTC Touch Cruise" who upgraded ROM or FW (bepe ROM) and doesnt have this Camera problem? It seems that this affect "HTC Touch Cruise" models (although they should be the same as Orbit or XDA).
I have one final and working solution. Because my Touch Cruise had more technical issues I returned it to the shop and they repaired it (change of motherboard). Now of course everything works fine, but I am quite afraid of FW upgrade (although the original one sucks)
Hobbit, yes I have an original HTC Touch Cruise. It was running Bepe 0.66 for a few weeks with NO camera issues at all. (Except the camera being lousy and slow, but that's a different story). I also used some Diamond Roms (udK-r0, udk-r1, several vivis) and am now using Vivi's 1.1.2. No camera issues.
Btw, I have only 40 MB free memory left on my 4GB card.

maybe it is linked to some rom versions afterall.
I downgraded to bepe 66 (those camera problems seemed to arise with bepe 67) and unsinstalled the Nadavi_Fix I used and strangely the camera went back...
Hey boldbull,
This may not be your situation, as I know why, from the more advanced techs here, that some say to backup your data, but I did more.
I did a full system backup, and restored that onto the new ROM, so hardware settings, and locations were changed for camera etc
A conflict in settings was the reason I have to do a reflash to original ROM, ATT trash and hopefully, and than back to the the better ROM!
Live and learn, HUH?
So form now on, when I do a flash I going to reinstalle all my extra apps by hand, skype, Sktools etc, instead of a complete restore, until I find out how not to bring the hardware settings over into the new ROM flash!
Hope that helps, if it pertains to your situation!
Later!
Hi all,
since today all of my gps-programs (smartrunner, terracrosser, on the road panel) i´m normally using (at last yesterday) do not find a gps-siganl anymore.
I´ve tried htc gps-tool, but it is saying "failed to send NMEA command"
In settings the internal gps is set to com4, harware (external) no com, managed by windows.
Any ideas, or is there a program to check if the gps-chip is generally ok?
Thanks and all the best.
Coincidentally, about 5 days ago I found that my GPS on my R1A ROM stopped functioning after exactly 2 minutes. Tomtom and all other GPS apps would get a fix normally, then crash the phone after 2 mins (Tomtom goes gray) and a soft-reset is needed to get the phone going again. I tried reinstalling most of the apps, but nothing seemed to help.
In the end, I took the gutsy way out, flashed my X1 to R3A (even though there's rumours that it's not the 'official' release), and everything has been good ever since.
I know it's not really a 'solution', but I sure as hell couldn't find the fix. I've had my Xperia since the November release with R1A, and it just did this to me about a week ago.
Anyways, happy with R3A having skipped R2A. Not HUGE benefits to upgrading, but definitely some positives.
Hi Scar,
flashing to R3A means that all programs and data will be deleted?
Isn´t there a way to reinstall the gps-driver, like at "big windows"?
How did you flashed? With SE Update Service?
I am a X1 User for about 7 weeks, so i do not had such issues until now and flashing would be my first time.
Any other ideas around?
Thanks and all the best
Hi mrx_bln,
Flashing to R3A will mean that your device data will be lost. If you use ActiveSync, then all of your Contacts/Appts/Tasks/etc. will get re-synced when you re-create the partnership after flashing. You also might want to search the forums for "PIM Backup" which will allow you to set a "Custom" backup to grab your files, as well as its ability to save Call Logs + SMS.
I flashed my ROM by using the microSD method, which is to place the (official) ROM in the root of the Storage Card, and have it named "kovsimg.nbh". You'll find more info from Jack Leung in the ROMs section of the Xperia X1 forum here.
As far as I know, there is no way to reinstall the GPS driver. If you have never got a signal though, and your symptoms aren't like mine were (I got a fix for 2 mins then it always froze after that), then you might want to leave it outside for 10 minutes to ensure that the GPS isn't working. Also, run QuickGPS to make sure you've got the latest data file.
Hopefully you can figure it out, as flashing is a bit of a pain to have to reinstall and reconfigure everything. The silver lining to that dark cloud is that you can ensure that the device is running mint.
Let us all know how you make out!
If your GPS crashes satnav apps after a couple of minutes, try deleting your 'extra.bin' file.
This is the QuickGPS download file which is likely to be the culprit, and you can always download another which is likely to be okay.
Hi all,
thanks again for your suggestions.
I´ve run "configuration - system - delete memory" (in german: Einstellungen - System - Speicher löschen) from the phone, which is a "hardreset", i guess.
And look, after that my GPS is working again.
The HTC-GPS-Tool is working and my favourite apps (Smartrunner, Terracrosser) have GPS-Signal.
So, my result is that is was definitely a sw-problem and i am wondering that there is no fix for this, because regarding to some threads it looks like that happens quite often. I mean, even the developers of htc gps tool should have the knowledge to write a fix, don´t they?
May here is a wm crack who has a look at what a hardreset is doing with the gps and writes a little tool to fix this manually?
Many other users would appreciate a lot, i guess.
Let´s have a look when the problem comes up again
Even the quickgps tool came up with an error (something like "can´t connect - try later"). Then i will try to delete the "extra.bin"
All the best
My GPS hasn't been working for about 2 weeks now. Not about to hard-reset, but would love to find a simpler solution.
Try this solution. That worked for me and many others It is way simpler than a hardreset

I have exactly the same problem after every ROM flash.
And always manage to fix it in 4 steps:
1. Erase GPS data using the HTC tool, wait 30 secs, all satellites should vanish
2. Cold start the GPS, wait 30 secs
3. Power down the phone, power back up
4. Start the HTC GPS tool again and wait approximately 2 minutes for the gps to fix. If you screwed up steps 1-3 then after starting the tool you will get a pattern of satellites. The screen must be clear and it should start looking for satellite 02 (searching for almanac)
Never had to cold start the phone- I suppose it does exactly the same as my four steps.
I was working with various GPS units before and the Diamond one is definitively the most fiddly of them all.
I suppose there is a bug in the COM4 GPS communication protocol, I have noticed that the stream of data often cannot be stopped by closing the connection with the GPS inside the tool.

Mine works again. Downloading new QuickGPS seemed to solve the problem.
i have the same problem with my gps since yesterday - could you please give the link, from where you got the quickGPS?

I thought QuickGPS came with the phone. Load up the program, then hit 'download' and soft-reset just in case.
Thx
I've tried it - so I think I have an other problem with GPS

Hi there,
Has anybody experienced this GPS problem? Since a few days, Without changing anything I got no properly working GPS anymore. That concerns only Android. Everything is ok with gps under WM6.5. So, with Android it takes 10 minutes or more to get sat fix if at all. Then, if I change from gps app to any other app, sat fix will get lost instantly and never return. Even with navigating in car under open sky it is not possible anymore. Under WM6.5 no problem occurs, same location!. Apps under Android which I tried: GPS Tracker, Android Navigation, GPS Status. All the same.
So, I've no clue. Any ideas from you?
Thank you,
Peter
which build are you using?
It´s independent of build. But to answer your question: MCCM SE V3.4 FroyoStone Sense.
Update:
I switched to another build, did not apply my backup as I first wanted to test the GPS. It´s all the same with the new untouched android build!!! (Build now is MDJ_FroYo_HD_v._4.6_MDJ_S78.0).
I used GPSTracker app as I always do. But since this failure, I only get a gps sat-fix as long as I view the "Status" page. If I switch to "Map" I lose sat-fix instantly. It comes back only back on "Status" page - if at all.
Very weird!
Updated Radio Rom from 2.08.50 to 2.15.50 and did a hard reset on WM. IT HAD NO EFFECT. What on earth could do such harm to gps only under Android??? For me its all useless without navigation. If only there was a second person who knew this or I could find out what the reason is. For me it´s nearly bricked!
gonna sell this hd2 for 220 bucks and buy a desire hd.
^^Did you try doing QuickGPS download in WM first and then trying GPS in Android...it really helps..
Hi all,
I just had a new HTC hd2 and I'm facing some problems with it, at first I thought the problem was with Android but I found it wasn't as I installed Windows phone 7 and the problems persisted so I got back to Android, here are the problems
- the phone switches off automatically
- the battery doesn't stay for more than 10 hrs
- the phone switches off during the phone calls
- the phone restart automatically
- sometimes when it switches off it doesn't start again till I make a reset
So I think the problems may be:
- something wrong with the service provider coz I bought from another country
- something wrong with the software like the MAGLDR and this stuff
-something wrong with the hardware itself which I highly doubt
-or something else that you may know to help me
Thanks
you must mention your radio+Rom ver.
try to read Temp. is it high?
The best to do is to check your radio ROM.
TASK29 Format, reinstall new RADIO ROM.
then install fresh ROM.
and try.
thanks
i had some problems with switching off ,random times , in my case it was the contact fingers for my battery .
Hello there
My apologies if I am not supposed to start a new thread for my question.
My device is HTC touch HD (blackstone)
I have recently downloaded Android 2.3.3 from a link posted by arrrghhh :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167324
All functions seem to work fine except that the phone frequently freezes or the screen goes black sometimes. This occurs randomly when using different app. Some of which work fine on occasion but it causes this problem on other occasion. Sometimes even opening the contact list freezes the phone. The other day Google Navigator worked for 20min ok before the phone stopped responding. Sometimes an application that was working fine suddenly does not start. Sometimes everything works perfect.
As you can see this issue sounds quite random and there is no pattern to it that I could think of.
Is there anything I could do about this?
Further info:
My SD: 8GB
Phone works fine with WM 6.1
I did not do partition for SD card
I hardrest my WM 6.1 thinking it could sort the problem but it didnt
Your help would be much apprciated
AlSultan
i had a similar problem when using the 8gb sd disk.
it eventually corruped the android folder and i could not recover that sector, but after much difficulty i was able to reformat the disk.
in the meantime i tried a 2gb disk from another phone, and now the android seems a lot more stable, i also did not have to edit the startup.txt file as much, only added 'rel_path=' and added 'physkyboard =' statements
good luck
