[Q] Weight of Wifi version? - Xoom General

Anyone know how much the WiFi only version will weigh? I assume it will be lighter than the 3G/4G version?

One would hope that they have the same weight, because a lighter weight would mean a smaller battery. A few extra ICs don't weight much.

I just hope they don't increase the screen size or dramatically alter the shape of it. If it has an identical body with nothing more than a spec bump I'll be THRILLED. 1080p amoled screen, faster processor, and 64gb storage but keep everything else the same and I will buy one the moment it drops. No need to mess with perfection.

i agree with this exactly honestly i woulsdnt complain if there was a 5 inch screen but kept the same form factor... more stoked about the moto 360 then this though..
apparently it is going to come in a leather option. https://twitter.com/evleaks/status/452952150302527488
Im just waiting to hear if it's going to be the same size or not. If it's revealed that it will be a bigger phone than the X then I'll spend my money on the current X. I'd be happy if the next X kept the same size with just a camera upgrade. We'll see soon I hope.

Holy leather macaroni! I need a black front white leather back with silver accents right now!:victory:
I swear I said it yesterday before it came out that it was gonna have a leather option! I also agree if the screen size grows i pray the form factor doesnt. I mean there is space now to remove that can increase the screen and minimilize bezels
If this new Moto X is enticing enough, I'm actually thinking about selling my Dev edition and upgrading. However, this new X will have to seriously wow me, in terms of looks, specs, and price. Has to be all 3 of those, not just 1 or 2.

one thing that the X "failed" at was competing in the "more is everything" spec war. which is entirely unfortunate given this is easily the best android device i've owned since the original DROID. with that said, i don't want Moto to give in to the spec war. previous articles have mentioned that whatever the X successor will be, it will be a "premium" model.
so far for the X+1, i've seen reports of a 6" screen, which is absolutely and completely a horrible idea. if they shrunk the bezel to "nothing" and kept the form factor, then fine, increase the screen. but the form factor is damn near perfect.
and honestly, i wouldn't care if they kept the most of the same internals, but more RAM, extra storage and wireless charging top my list as things that are a must with the new device. or if they're going to skip wireless charge, a bigger battery.
What to keep:
Active notifications
Touchless control
I don't mind the 720p resolution
Great better life (before 4.4.2)
What to add:
Wireless charging
4.8" to 5" screen but similar form factor.
Bigger battery
Better camera
Better picture/video gallery

AKA Droid Maxx
Camera of course--13 mpix at least, but more importantly, some additional settings options, such as shutter speed. Better color balance too.
Go to 32 gB standard, with possible microSD support. Water/dust proofing also a plus; it's a functional feature that doesn't necessarily give in to the spec wars that the X eschewed in the first place.
Screen size increase? Meh. Right now I can work the phone with one hand/thumb. If it gets bigger, then not so much. If they can do something with bezel size and screen real estate with the current body size, then fine.
Screen resolution? If your eyes can't tell the difference, much greater resolution only draws more battery power. As does going quadcore--remember, Moto's own research supposedly showed that even their quadcore competitors' phones didn't use more than two cores at any time.
If they keep to close the current size, then battery capacity isn't likely to grow much, so retaining efficiency is paramount.
Nor do I care about front facing speakers, ala HTC. I don't listen to much music with phone speakers, and the quality is fine for interacting with the phone's TTV engine.
Finally, I am still a skeptic about wireless charging, if only because of the probability that it can heat the battery excessively, killing overall longevity.
Unlike wood, leather backs are not my thing--what's next, chinchilla?
I think the X+1 is not the 2014 X. Maybe it meants 4.7+1 = 5.7in phablet? maybe they have another name for the X?
If they don't change the name it may or may not just be 2014 moto x like the n7 but I doubt it.... Hopefully its not moto x+1 cause that's the stupidest name I've ever heard of

The leak picture actually sayS +X1. JPNo idea why everyone's stuck to +1
I would be persuaded to upgrade if they added:
Wireless charging
Bigger capacity battery
Better camera
Upgraded specs
Even more waterproofing
I'm hoping they don't change the size or form-factor as it's perfect for me. I don't really care about a leather back as I love the woven back.
Front facing speakers would be ideal; firing your audio away from you on the back of your phone is retarded for watching video.

honestly they are becoming extinct and the desire for them wont make that change manufactures want you to buy up for memory why would they want you to buy the cheapest model and allow you to upgrade the memory outside their pockets?
all i know is if they make the phone larger, i am going to have to look for a different phone or stay with this one till it dies. i have had the One, S4, Nexus 5 and pretty much any high end device in recent years and one of the main reason i love my X is due to its size.

New Moto G!!!

Motorola has announced the new gen of the the Moto G. The Moto G has been upgraded to a 5-inch screen. It also comes with an 8 megapixels camera in the back and 2 megapixels in the front. it will come in both 8GB & 16GB versions with a Micro SD slot. Motorola kept the phone at the same price as the original $179.99. The only bad thing is that there is no LTE version yet.

IMO 4.5" screen is better because it's easier to use it with one hand.. Also I don't like those front speakers, looks so ugly

I agree. Personally 5" is too much big for me. I feel unconfortable with a mobile of that size
Mixed bag. I wish they had increased RAM a little bit more atleast 1.5 GB and beefed up the battery little bit more . I'd have seriously considered it
Indeed, the RAM memory and the battery capacity could be increased. Also, I expected a little bit more powerful CPU (e.g. 1.5Ghz+), although the quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 is powerful enough. And last, the first generation Moto G has a 320dpi screen, while the second has a 294dpi.
I'm not sure about the pixel density, but I've read that in a site.

The bigger screen is great! The original Moto G feels small in my hand, so the option of a larger display is great. They could of added an extra gig of RAM though. 1GB is not enough for multi-tasking.
There is not much you can do keeping the price, I think that the upgrade is ok.
Well for same price having some more upgrades aint bad.
I also wished they kept only the Camer upgrade and instead of others put a lil more RAM speed.
That would have been so cool.
But who would have considered the X generation if so ;p
Yep, i also love the new moto g, at the same price you get a bigger screen, better camera, dual front facing speakers, sd card slot and more optimized software with a guaranteed upgrade to android L and many more... when this phone will be in stock in Romania i will buy it asap
The most of the hardware is the same, so is the development easily portable to the new one?
I'm thinking on buy the new one because i was going to buy the 1st gen, but i like the improvements
The biggest problem is going to battery of g2 which is 2070mAh they have upgraded the screen size from 4.5" to 5" and not the battery, in 4.4.4 Android, power backup is a issue but no improvement by Motorola, it will be power hungry, I don't see it is major upgrade which can turn the tables as our motor g does....... Also Not even a single in change in hardware, is there is no change happened in technology in previous two years, its better to wait for g3

Anyone else disappointed?

While watching the live stream, I was really impressed with the presenter who said they understand our concerns about wanting phones that last easily throughout the day, that withstand drops in water, and want a pure experience. Then they introduce the Moto X Style/Pure with a measly 3000mAh battery, which in comparison to the Note 4 and Nexus 6 is considered small, and there is no waterproofing. Yet the lower end phones have either a larger battery or waterproofing. Really Motorola?
Yes I was disappointed, there seems to be some type of disconnect in direction these phones are going. I'm inncoraged that they are finally addressing the camera but 3000 mAh battery is just dumb. No fingerprint scanner either
to my knowledge, almost no phones are waterproof, though many are water resistant (maybe 1.5 meters for 30 mins). it may not have 4000 mAh like the droid turbo, but 3000 mAh is a sizeable increase compared to the moto x which had 2300 mAh. maybe they are leaving some market space for the new x, which is rumored to have 3600 mAh. and the style for $400 makes it a pretty sweet deal no matter how you cut it. i was unable to find any IP rating for the new moto x style.
for $400, i see it has more features and a better value than the one+2.
QHD, nfc, microSD, quick charging, customizable
I was disappointed with it only have a 808 and an even larger screen.. At this point, might as well wait for the Nexus
The major disappointment is no fingerprint scanner..... but camera and screen size upgrades are big plus to me!!!!
BTW, Moto X Style is IP52.

I mostly found it odd that the top end phone has a tiny battery among a list of other specs that were pretty impressive. Also, it's odd that the G has water proofing and the X's do not. For that matter, the one WITH the big battery is not an option if you live in the states.... wtf?? Considering the other contender's this year, there's a whole lot of disappointment for me. I'm sick of touchwiz, hate phablets, and want a good camera and great battery... apparently that's too much to ask. As for the 808... well, considering the other option is having a fireball in your pocket, I think it's a decent choice. I guess we'll see what the nexus looks like. Unfortunately the S5 has grown long in the tooth for me and needs replacement. (it has become unreliable, slow, overheating, etc etc etc.)
I can live without a finger print scanner, although i enjoy it a lot in my S6 now. But 3,000 mAh compared to Moto Play. What i would want is the Moto X Play´s battery and Moto X Style´s everything else. Too much to ask? I mean its a huge phone, fit a huge battery
it is a tiny battery, however If you look at the Moto X 2014, the tiny 2300 still gives you a day of life. I am guessing the software would make the 3000mah battery pretty good for day to day use? The camera seems like a joy. I was hoping for the fingerprint sensor to be at the speaker grill, but meh, I dont really use a lock just because I use moto displays anyways. And that 399 price point is really a very good deal
Plus, having an SD card would make putting a custom rom on way easier!
Plus Plus: the fact that there is only the pure edition in the US, i think will bring this phone a lot of developer love
(opinion)

I should have said water resistant, but my point still stands, why include it on the low end phone but not your flagship?
While 3000mAh is an improvement from the 2300mAh in the 2014 Moto X, you need to remember that you are going from a 5.2" phone to a 5.7" phone, and compared to other 5.7" phones like the Note 4, it has a significantly smaller battery.
$400 is a great price, I think most of us are just upset that Motorola went with a 3600mAh batter in it's mid-ranged phone while leaving the much smaller batter in the larger flagship.
What ever i said. i am still getting one

No USB Type-C = better compatibility of chargers, and Quick Charge 2.0. I honestly cannot see Type-C taking off anywhere within the next year, seeing as major players are dragging their feet on this, and at this point, I'd rather be stuck with a micro-USB port.
Some of my thoughts...
With custom ROM and now a custom Kernel for Moto X 2014 I have no issues getting through the day, on sparse use I've gotten two days easily as well. - Seeing as you're all posting here, I'm assuming if you get the phone you will root it. Provided that the scene is active on this phone, the battery should be great, also if the big screen is not a huge drain. (In other words I see no cause for concern.)
While still on the screen, why does it seem that this one is TFT and not AMOLED? - I've made the move to AMOLED with the 2014 and it's going to be very hard to go back, I love the deep blacks in the dark, using my dad's OPO in same environment almost made me cringe.
Also, I probably won't be upgrading from 2014 Moto X as this is waaaaay too big, OPO is too big and this will just be uncomfortable for me.
If they make a Style with 5.2 inch or less screen, a very tight case/shell, AMOLED screen I'd probably be all over that, especially if the camera is as great as it seems, and with that price it's hard to beat.
As it is now, I will wait and see if the new nexus entices me enough to switch to it from Moto X 2014

I'm not sold on USB C yet. Sure it's nice to have a reversible plug, but that's really the only benefit. You need to buy all new cables, and no quick charging (yet).
I believe it's USB 2.0, as USB 3.0 (Note 3) has a much larger USB port.

that's not the only benefit. it means backward compatibility with my phone even if it gets old, I don't change phones so regularly
and type-C does support USB power delivery profile but OEMs are yet to implement which will bring better charging capability natively.
and yes it's USB 2.0 , USB 3.0 needs micro-B 3.0 , but atleast micro-B 3.0 would have meant that I can transfer from PC at higher speeds and still use the older cables as it also supports current micro-B for USB 2.0
Technically isn't this the best ever camera on a close to stock Android phone?

If you are in dire needs of upgrading your PC as well as mobile, you wish that newer standards are adopted quickly , especially for any person who upgrades ones in 3-4 years
They are dragging this too long. USB 3.0 & type C have been here for a while now.
Don't know at this rate when 3.1 & Power delivery profile will be adopted. even support for thunderbolt & Displayport in type c are already announced.
As of this moment, I'm getting it. I'm coming from a nexus 6 and all I've been pining after is the moto software suite with assist and voice and display.
Moto x pure will be a blend of my nexus 6 with the large display and front facing and my moto x with the software enhancements.
AND thank god it looks similar to my nexus 6 so it'll be easy to sneak one past the wife .
fingerprint and usb C would be nice but not dealbreakers for me. I would have preferred wireless charging over the two of those features.
LCD vs AMOLED. I'll reserve judgment on that one. AMOLED makes moto display look great so this part might be a dealbreaker for me. maybe if the LCD is more power efficient and makes the moto x pure a battery beast then perhaps i'll overlook it. Some of the hands on pictures the blacks in the camera app matched very closely to the blacks of the bezel so there is hope. I just need to see more samples. It'll be hard to beat the blacks of AMOLED especially when it's not even a color, it's just turned off. Can't get much blacker than that =P
Not really majorly disappointed. I would have loved to have seen the bigger battery in the style from the play and a fingerprint sensor sure. But, at the same time, I'm sick of having issues with my phones (n4 followed by n5 - simple things like bad build quality on the n5 or the major overheating of the 4 & 5 when idling even in safe mode) and with Motorola, the style isn't half bad for the price that they're giving.
Would I have been happy if they charged an extra £50-80 and had a fingerprint sensor and slightly bigger battery? Probably. Is it a reason for me not to buy it? Nope.
If it's built as solidly as previous iterations of the X and if they keep with the clean android, I'm going to be a happy cookie even 3 years down the line I bet. Plus, I love the idea of all the talk based control especially when driving.

There's a very huge difference between practice and theory. There are many barriers (costs, standards, technologies) as to why USB 3.0 and Type-C has not been implemented universally. Remember how long it took for companies to just agree on putting micro-USB on their phones? Especially when USB 3.0 and Type-C offers very little incentive at all for companies to switch.
Compatibility issues, for instance, is something USB 3.0 phones currently have unless someone has a new hard drive (and its attached cable) lying around. You're more likely to have someone who runs around with a microUSB cable for whatever purposes - charging, data transfer, whatever. Type-C on the other hand is so new that you'd be hard pressed to find accessories outside of very advanced/technological cities. It only got a much stronger (and much needed) push with the newest MacBook, but even so, you don't see everyone leaping to the standard yet.
In any case, if the technology has evolved to a point where USB 3.0 or Type-C becomes commonplace and necessary (meaning, you need the power output/data transfer speeds), then that most likely means you'll need an upgrade to your phone too. So I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Zeblaze Thor or LEMFO LES1? Which is Better? , If you are going to buy one, which do you prefer based on this page seems like they have the same specs, just different designs, http://smartwatchspecifications.com/comparison/lemfo-les1-vs-zeblaze-thor/ I am having a dilemma
My Thor was shipped today...
So, i've decided to go with Thor...
Its better looking (from my point of view), also screen should be different (if specs are correct), SuperAmoled in Thor and regular Amoled in Les1...
Other things are same...
Debating exactly the same. At one point I thought the thor had 450mah battery, but its same at 350mah. That would have sealed the deal for me. Quite like the silver of the LES1 but super amoled is better, right?
Will it consume more power than standard amoled though?
Also considering older watches such as No1 D5+ as that has reportedly got decent battery life and looks nice. No1 D7 also looks interesting, but smaller low res screen, but has compass, a form of NFC (which I suspect cannot be used for Android pay) and 500mah battery with dual core for power saving. Looking at this thread (http://roundandroidwatches.proboards.com/thread/1038/battery-drain-lollipop-5-solution) it seems battery life can be reasonable.
Leaning towards thor.
