I'll be the first to admit, i'm anal about my gadgets.
My atrix has a creaky back cover that drives me freaking nuts. It's annoying, it makes the phone feel cheap and it bothers me a lot.
Anyone else have this issue?
pretty common "issue" there was a post on this earlier on this forum and
http://androidforums.com/motorola-atrix-4g/297070-alright-i-have-creaky-cover.html
other forums... its not a big deal you can always buy a new back i plan on getting a rubberized battery door cause the plastic is too slippery.

I take pretty good care of my phone. Its always carried in a case, never been dropped, and doesn't get abused. Lately though I have been noticing that the battery door is loose. Like really loose. Is this a common problem with these phones. Has anyone used any of the ebay doors. I don't want to buy it and then it be complete crap. Thanks in advance

Yea my battery cover falls off when im talking on the phone its so loose. I haven't looked into a replacement yet though.
I had a similar problem the back would pop off when the phone was in my pocket. So I bought one of those covers that cover the back and the front. Doesn't make the phone that much bigger, it protects it better and more importantly the back doesn't come off anymore. You can buy them for like $10 on ebay or at those faceplate kiosks in the mall.
Just got my commuter case from otterbox and its freaking awesome! I feel well protected!

Yes. Coolest case i have ever owned. Makes the phone feel like a tank in your hand.
The only thing I don't like as much is the soft rubber, it collects alot of dirt. At least for me. Other then that I love it.
pics....review
just keep an eye out for the bottom rubber part. I've had mine for less than two months and it got really flimsy and it tore :/

I'm having this same problem right now - what I find is that after you put it back in to the plastic case, push it down a tad and it seems to un flimsy it for it a bit. I can tell it won't last though.
I wish there was a way to shrink the rubber piece so it fit like it did at first, that being said I'd buy it again if it breaks, it's the best evo case I've used.
Love my case. Had it a little over a month and the bottom rubber flap isn't flimsy on mine

I bought mine on eBay at 19 bucks. I was afraid it was going to be bulky but to my surprise it is not.

Yeah, I've had my otterbox commuter case for about a week now. It's definitely the best case out there. It really makes the power and volume buttons more accessible. Anybody on the fence about this case, just get it - you won't be disappointed.

I'll have to agree with everyone, this case makes the phone feel very secure and protected. Yet it still slips right into my pants pockets. Now when ever I hold my wife's or anyone else's EVO it just feels so fragile, and i'm scared to drop it for fear of breaking it.
So I have to say this is the best case I ever had for any of my phones...
I liked my OtterBox Commuter case for my Evo so much I bought one for the Hero I gave to my girlfriend. She loves hers as well. The only problem is that she tried to put the screen protector on by herself and it was, well to be quite honest, a f***ing disaster.
Dont buy this sh*t,
The case broke my power button.
Stupid of me to think this was a good case.
All these reviews talking about how awesome the case is and then this. Seriously, how did it break your power button? The silicon case is the only thing that touches the power button. The hard plastic shell doesn't come anywhere near it. Did you drop your phone? Why was it stupid of you to think this would be a good case when it's one of the highest rated cases out there? I'm thinking your situation was a fluke, dude.
I have had the case for about two months with my phone and the only issue I have with it is the rubber piece that sticks out of the bottom like everyone else. I am curious as to how you think the case broke your power button as well?
I have heard that some people have been having issues with their power buttons in general but not because of the case.
So ya I just got my Commuter case the other day and could not be more pleased with it. Hands down one of, if not the best designed and well thought out cases on the market.
Like a lot of people I though a case like this would add extra bulk to our bulky friend. But I got to tell you, this case just fills RIGHT. I don't see myself removing this case any time soon.
What I mean by that is, I had a case for work( that HTC rubber one from Sprint) and a case for when I wasn't working(some 10$ thin plastic case from a mall cart).
This case is the best of both of them. It combines the protection of the HTC case with out the extra bulk and slickness of the thin plastic case from the mall.
Best money I've spent in a long time. Well worth paying even full price for it.
The bottom rubber flap sucks, its flimsy and it won't stay ! I think it's just a bad design... should have made it stick just the the flap they put over the headphones plug in.
Other than that, great case...
Anyone else noticing how bad the plastic battery cover is on this phone? Everytime i hold it creaks. Doesnt make it feel like a quality device. Anyone else in the same boat of do i have a crappy back cover?
Not creaky here...nice tight fit
Mine fits great as well. No issues.
Ive taken the back cover off at least 20 times since the 8th. My phone feels solid, no creaky feel what so ever.
Same as with everyone else, my phone feels and sounds solid. No creaks here.
only if I really try to make it creak.

maybe you cover is not snapped on all the way??
mine is also fine..
Yea i think that im going to get another battery cover. Mine is creaky towards the bottom left. Almost like its not snapping together correctly. The main reason i returned the HTC Surround was for the creaky battery cover. It gave me nightmares because i dealt with a G1 for 2 years with that problem.
never had a creak but i would suggest getting a tight fit cover for the phone. Mine is red and black and the brand is case mate...awesome cover to protect my sweet ass phone!
I've noticed I get some creak in the top left corner above the camera, nothing major though since I never hold the phone by that corner.
I would say it's a faulty cover (return/exchange the phone) or it hasn't seated or snapped into place properly even though it looks like it's in place.
It is plastic and makes the phone super light weight.
I returned mine and got one back in which the cover is perfect.
Also, the screen is a bit brighter (same settings) and the audio sounds a bit better. I also ordered a screen protector and case (smoke plastic) which works great.
The phone is very impressive now.
my keyboard is turning brown were the bumpers from the screen rest. If you lift up your screen you'll see a bumper on each end that rest on each end of the keyboard. I was looking at the tmo forums and noticed a thread on it. Mine isn't near as bad as other. Some look almost burnt in and some peoples whole phones were changing color were the soft plastic is. I just put a small piece of electrical tape over the bumpers so it doesn't get worse cus its not bad now.
I haven't noticed that but am getting some discoloration on the backhousing below the battery door. I added the tmobile gel skin to help protect it somewhat. So far it has helped...
It seems that the paint could have been given an extra coat or two, or clearcoat. I have heard of many folks complaining about the paint on the keyboard edges becoming premature worn out. The gel case has some clips around that area and might help with the wear. Might be worth the $10 investment. Really wish the otterbox for the G2 would come out already...
Ya I'm thinkin about getting some ghost armor. A lot of people on the tmo forums were actually haveing the discoloration exactly were u r. The stains from the bumpers on my keyboard is weird I wonder if its the chemicals they used to make the bumpers and the soft material that the bumpers rest on. Some peoples phones look like the bumpers actually burned an imprint on the keyboard. Apparently someone talked to an htc rep and he said it has to do with the magnets used in the phone causing the discoloration. Some people are sayin they're whole phone were the soft parts are turned green or a dingy brownish color.
Yeah!! I got that brown stuff on my keyboard too.
Oh wait... no. It's chocolate... nevermind. ◔‿◔
I just checked and so far I dont see any discoloring. Im going to keep an eye out for this.
Ive got a tiny bit of yellow where the bumpers rest.. nothing major, but its barely 2 weeks old
You've probably all seen this, but in case you haven't..
Heh that's awesome, I've been scared i'm going to break my cover the amount of times I take it off (sim switching). I guess I don't need to worry after all
wow
i was worried, not anymore lol
Nice to see that!
Damn, that made my heart skip a beat. Was waiting for the snap! Very impressive.
As nice as that was to see I think it's impossible to not be paranoid about breaking it!
Lol, i was so scared opening at first, didnt even want to open it cause it looked like it was going to snap
That's awesome! Goes to show you don't need a (heavy) unibody aluminium construction to have a strong phone!
I hope the rest of the plastic on the phone is as strong as the back cover
I always found the 'flimsy back cover' issue rather silly. Its easy to replace anyway should it break. It fits perfectly and its quite resistant to scratches.
When we get criticism for it remember.. Its not fragile glass (not naming names, but we know who uses that, and what a huge pain it is to replace..) and its not a unibody, easily scratched and expensive to replace.

+1 Very reassuring.
There are several topics about this issue posted. Here is one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129181&highlight=battery+cover
WOW. That is some epic plastic. I LOVE how many of the reviews had to be very picky and said "the back cover is flimsy, and easily breakable"
SORRY WHAT??
Still not gonna attempt that with my back cover
The word "flimsy" is overused..
flimsy means weak, brittle.. sure to fail..
well also means thin.. but why not say thats its a thin back cover..
Yeah, I am also wondering that why everybody is so worried about the back cover. I think it is quite firm and sturdy. Not easy to scratch.
Also if I happen to scratch it I can always by a new one. So why to use some back cover? Maybe to cover the camera but most back covers don't give much extra protection to the camera.
Only complaint for this back is that when you get sweaty hands I think the plastic somehow sucks the moisture in it and even after i get clean hands the back cover feels a bit..smuggy
Thanks for the video post! The SGII is finally available here in the US for AT&T customers. Yesterday I went to the store and had a look but the flimsy/cheap feeling of the batter cover was the biggest turn-off for me. After seeing the video I feel better but still, I would like to see something more sturdy, like a metal cover. The closest thing I found discussed here is a metal-plated cover:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274616
Has anyone tried them yet or can suggest alternatives? For now I am holding off until the Nexus is announced next week...
Thanks!
Big thanks for this video, i was thinking of getting a few backup batteries from ebay (since it's cheap and i drain the juice like water), but afraid of breaking the back cover pins when i change the battery frequently, since it look so "skinny".

I've been swapping batteries once a day for the past 3 months and my cover is just fine.
Still not quite convinced
I want the Galaxy Nexus but the back cover makes me cringe still. Does the fold line at 0:16 not worry anyone else?
I went to the store and took the cover off a GS2 and my stomach went into knots
