Big Thanks to all at XDA - Galaxy S I9000 General

After recommending the wife to get an SGS she ended with a very very lag ridden one from orange UK.
Boy was I in the bad books LOL.
Right had to sort it for her... ended up in this forum.
Check one, no 3 button recovery so ran this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201
Easy enough, confidence starting to build.
So built up the courage to root using the oneclick utility
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Really easy, cheers.
More confidence gained.
Then used SGS Kernel Flasher App and installed Voodoo-stable-5.4.2-Froyo-2.2.1-GT-I9000-unsigned-update.zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806195
That was even easier, excellent application and kernel seems to have done the trick.
One very happy man, an even happier wife LOL.
Many thanks to all.

Good for you! And your wife

Now it's time for her to make you happy.

QTF stands for "Quite f...ing talking" or "Quote for truth" or WTF *g* depends on the response
/10char just helps to jump over the 10char minimum of an entry in various board implementations
Greetings,
ww

I've had to do the same for my Orange i9000, am running JPY/JS7/JPY now, all because Skype doesn't work on Eclair and then have tried a few firmwares!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

I did the same when I first got my SGS was glad that I did,, and was sooooo happy when I had what I wanted on the phone,, until it broke hehehe, oh well,
Thank god for people who can actually fix phones!!

Big ups! Also a layman but petty CI confident now in the. World of android. Thanks to xda. Just fixed my dad's girlfriends phone and had a momentary freak out when something went wrong but 10 min later on zda I had the solution. Confidence is now at cocky levels
Stock JPY, SuckerPunch i9000 beta#1 kernel 1.3ghz, all ext4, JVE GB Modem,

I have two very decent notebook computers and a desktop rotting in the closet at the moment. I'm not that desperate for cash and I'm well aware that when I buy a device I run the risk of getting gibbed.
Not much to see past that pretty screen, unfortunately.
No, don't do it. Wait. Stop.
So, this is kind of a suicide note, right? You're moving on to a better life and leaving all us poor saps behind to suffer in our own living hell. Thanks for sharing.

I don't have a laggy phone either but isn't that the point of this thread? My GPS is fine on JK2 (stock JK2). If you want to sit here and complain about how crappy it is what right do you have to sell it for more than you say it's worth(less).
What device is complete? If had to it all over again I would still choose the vibrant. The only is that I would pay a lot less for one.

Guys, XDA is sad lately. Do your part and ignore these type posts please.
The people that are leaving the phone obviously have no idea how software is developed and are extremely impatient. If i have left every phone Ive had because of minor, trivial and fixable flaws, i would been in debt up to my eyeballs. EVERY phone has flaws no exceptions. Like everyone says and is repeated ad nauseum, "its all about choice". Good day.

I'm sure he will be an asset to whatever dev community he decides to contribute next. He'll also get to do a fresh start without all the drama. Good luck Master, Axura was the first ROM I installed on my Vibrant.
BYE master, dude I loved your roms, I fell in love with Axura back in 2.1 days, you'll be missed, nut not forgotten, I'm sure I'll see you around.. SGS2 ;]
sweet! he better get a Optimus 2X.
maybe donations?

Sucks I finally try Axura and love it and you are leaving. Good work and good luck.
Truly sad to know you are leaving.... Axura has been the best ROM for my phone ever. I have tried almost all of them until Axura and never switched from it again.

don't worry the trolls in the truck will hold up the chair.
That's too bad Bye Master.
Hopefully whoever picks up the MIUI project can give us an update soon.
I'm a n00b, but wanted to give Master some love. Axura has been my daily driver since I got the Vibrant and has done nothing but meet or exceed expectations. Good luck.
BTW, with CM7 working its way to the Vibrant he may have picked a good time to bail.

Tips for Increasing Battery life

I found this link in the thread for the new MikG ROM, I did all of this when I was trying out ShiftDeck and noticed a massive increase in battery life.
Just did all (most) of the steps on MikG and even though the ROM hasn't settled in because I just flashed the ROM last night, I am still noticing some increases in battery life .

Every time the same thing when flashing...so damn annoying

Every time I flash a new ROM on my phone it seems like I have to learn and search the site how to do stuff, for some reason I can't flash other stock ROM's using PC Odin, I have already flashed a GB file but that is old and has an .md5 extension and I can't get into CWM from there, i've been at my phone for 4 hours now...trying to go from a bugged Samsung kernel to GB, so I can finally get to CM9. Not happy with this constant hassle with having to do this and that
