When I edit a contact, I can't see fields such as alias, notes and other fields.
At the end of the edit dialog, I can see the "more" section, but It doesn't display more fields.
I try with other XX firmwares, XXJPL and XXJPM and the the result it's the same.
I see other android phones, for example LG Optimus that in contacts have this fields, so I was asked if problem of the Samsung firmwares.
are there a way to get more fields in the contacts?
Thanks.

I tried searching thorugh the xda forums for an original HTC Home Plugin thread, but couldn't locate one, so i'll start here and maybe someone can forward me to the right place.
I have contacts in my contact list that just have a Company name, and not a first or last name.
The problem is that these contacts cannot be added to the quick dial area of the HTC Home Plugin, it will allow you to select it, but it doesn't show up, and you are unable to click that entry to dial the number. However, if you go edit that contact and add a first / last name, then it magically shows up on the quick dial.
Does anyone know of a bug fix / workaround for getting contacts with just a company name to show up? (And please don't say add a first / last name, that's obviously a solution, but not a fix.)
Any way to also have the phone number displayed on the screen as well when selecting a contact?
If you have multiple numbers on a contact, it just lists the contact 3 times.

put the company name in the name field and then change file as: to the company name and it won't change it to look like a name
Hi guys, I need help here.
How do I change the number preference, so when I store number in my contact list, or dial numbers, it won't appear as (123) 456789 and display 1-2345-678 instead.
Another thing is when SMSing, when i type in "abc" into the To field, it doesn't do auto name check.
Another thing is when I compose MMS, when i type in "abc" it doesn't do auto check also.
Help appreciate. Thanks!

the reason it doesnt do name checks is because xt9 is on... if you turn it off to find a number by name from home just type it. to find name while composing a sms will work however MMS wont find name by this method unless you are using Arcsoft MMS 5............ you are using the 4.... series most likely
In the settings, change the Regional settings for your phone to match your country and it should work.
When i save a contact to my phone, i enter the name like so (Name Lastname)
but in the contact list it shows up as (Lastname,Name)
i don't like reading names backwards. so i enter names in reverse (Lastname Name) so now they show up in the contact list as (Name,Lastname)
my question is, how do i remove the comma (,) between name and last name? i don't like it because now my contacts are like (James,Smith) instead of (James Smith)
EDIT::
Phone is an 8525, WM5.
without adding another software, you can enter name_lastname, NameLastname, etc...

when you edit a contact, change the dropdown under 'file as' to change what the contact is displayed as.
It defaults to lastname, firstname, but I've got mine as "firstname lastname" for all my contacts.
You will need to do it for every one individually though.
I figured out how to fix it, thanks for your thoughts guys..but here's how you do it
Enter the name as you want to see it (John Doe)
and just place the comma at the end (John Doe,)
and now the name will show up as "John Doe" in the contacts list, with NO comma.

but you screw things up with outlook contacts if you do that coz it saves everything as a lastname...
I don't use outlook.
Look at this.. i had the same problem...

Hi,
can someone help med to find the place where i switch on the "search names in contact list" when im go to sms or dialer. I know i saw it once but cant remember.
It was so easy to just write the name in the dialer and the contact just popup.. same in the sms function.
/MP
all people
click on "all people" there is search function right on top(with a magnifying glass) to search for contacts, from where you can send call, sms, email so on
or simply type the contacts name in the "to" field of new sms you will get their contact number
if that did not help please be more specific in your request
no , not that kind of search. But it was a good tips.
When go into "New SMS", the coursor start at "TO:" from there i can( or could) i start typing names and it find matchings from the phonebook. Or when i got the dailer up, i did'nt need to know the number, i just start to type the name and it find matching names from the phone book.
I know that i saw it somewhere in the settings, but cant find it again. Or have Dutty Rom not that function maybe.
/M
not sure it works like that in SMS but if you start to type a name then use menue "check names" option it will list all that match.
in phone dialler it seems to check the list automatically but i think it is just the recently dialled numbers?
Yes, you found it, so simple.. wonder how i get the "Check Name" to be check all the time, not only for that sms.
Normally, it should automatically check Names if you begin typing in the "TO:" field.
Or am I wrong?
not on my Dutty 3.9 turbo. I know that on the original rom it was like that.
Weird, my 3.8 Dutty does still have this feature....
Sorry I can't help you
On my Android phone contact list I've noticed several interspersed contact names are followed by very long, capitalized strings of random text and numbers usually starting with "BgYGB..." I noticed it after a contacts import. If I attempt to edit any such contact via the stock contacts app in order to remove the offending text, it simply does not appear in the edit boxes to delete it yet it's visible in the top heading area of the contact's page. Has anyone else experienced this and how have you recovered from it? Once I was able to remove the garbled text manually using Go Contacts EX going to each affected contact one by one, but I'm hoping someone has a better solution. I am running Android 4.4.2 on a stock, rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 from Sprint.
