Hi guys, I need help here.
How do I change the number preference, so when I store number in my contact list, or dial numbers, it won't appear as (123) 456789 and display 1-2345-678 instead.
Another thing is when SMSing, when i type in "abc" into the To field, it doesn't do auto name check.
Another thing is when I compose MMS, when i type in "abc" it doesn't do auto check also.
Help appreciate. Thanks!

the reason it doesnt do name checks is because xt9 is on... if you turn it off to find a number by name from home just type it. to find name while composing a sms will work however MMS wont find name by this method unless you are using Arcsoft MMS 5............ you are using the 4.... series most likely
In the settings, change the Regional settings for your phone to match your country and it should work.

How can I set the voicemailnumber in a way it will be used by the Speeddial '1' key.
I allready tried via tools/options/services/Voice Mail and SMS
And that did not work.
Any help greatly appreciated
Found it.
using a Registry Editor change the value of key
HKEY_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Vmail/Phonenumber1 to the numer to be dialed
I have no idea what the key .../Phonenumber2 is for . . .
For SMS center?
mmm, maybe.
But (different from the voicemail number) the sms-center number is defined on my SIM.
Besides that I was able to update the sms-center number via the phone/tools/options/services menu.
Go into Phone setting, services tab, voice mail & SMS and then tap get... it will read your network definitions.
Then in the voice mail box, type the number you dial for your voice mail and OK.
Excellent tip Amir77a - thanks.

Nice tip Amir.
That tip i Figured out myself.
Unfortunately it does not always work.
Maybe its my SIM or something else, but I cant set the number via the menu's ("unable to update setting to network"...)
So in my case the registry trick did it.
Probably it depends on your SIM.
Good you solve it anyway.

this is normal as some operators set one number for the voice mail box itself which missed calls should be routed to, and other number for retrieving the the voice mail.

hi,
i know this software exist but am not sure what the software is called.
By basically, inputting the destination numbers say (the first 4 or 5 numbers) it will bring back the names on your list, the more numbers you input the narrower the search becomes. Almost like the SMS texting function.
I need to search for contact names instead of ringing the entire number first.
cheers,
james
The default IntelliDialer does that.
yes there is a software...
Hello jimjamz!
Simply use the search funktion of your pocket pc... type in as many numbers as you want and then search. You will find the contact, the number belongs to...

I was wondering if there was a way to select more than one contact at a time when texting or MMS'ing. ie: instead of typing in each name or pressing the To: and then selecting each name from Contacts....
Is there a way to select them all (10 recipients for MMS and 16 for SMS) and then return to the message and send it..... It's just a PITA to have to keep going into the contact list for each name.....
Tia
Anyone ?? Thank You...
I just type in the first two letters of the contact name and the rest is automatic man, set your keyboard to suggest a word after 1 or two letters..no need to go to contacts at all..
Is there a way to text a group, and more than ten @ atime
I suggest getting a program called group-sms it is free.
Or if you want to go one better get smschat but you have to pay
Hi,
can someone help med to find the place where i switch on the "search names in contact list" when im go to sms or dialer. I know i saw it once but cant remember.
It was so easy to just write the name in the dialer and the contact just popup.. same in the sms function.

all people
click on "all people" there is search function right on top(with a magnifying glass) to search for contacts, from where you can send call, sms, email so on
or simply type the contacts name in the "to" field of new sms you will get their contact number
if that did not help please be more specific in your request
no , not that kind of search. But it was a good tips.
When go into "New SMS", the coursor start at "TO:" from there i can( or could) i start typing names and it find matchings from the phonebook. Or when i got the dailer up, i did'nt need to know the number, i just start to type the name and it find matching names from the phone book.
I know that i saw it somewhere in the settings, but cant find it again. Or have Dutty Rom not that function maybe.
/M
not sure it works like that in SMS but if you start to type a name then use menue "check names" option it will list all that match.
in phone dialler it seems to check the list automatically but i think it is just the recently dialled numbers?
Yes, you found it, so simple.. wonder how i get the "Check Name" to be check all the time, not only for that sms.
Normally, it should automatically check Names if you begin typing in the "TO:" field.
Or am I wrong?
not on my Dutty 3.9 turbo. I know that on the original rom it was like that.
Weird, my 3.8 Dutty does still have this feature....
Sorry I can't help you
Maybe I'm just going mad, but after a full reset, I think I'm missing some functionality in the Dialer.
If I pull up the Dialer, and start using T9-like search, e.g. search for "John" by dialing 5646, then the drop down list will pull up all the Contact called "John" (or that match other letters on those keys), or have "5646" in their number. If you click the down arrow/count, then the list is popped up.
Each Contact has their "default" number listed (if the default is not explicitly set on the contact, I think it uses the first/only number defined).
If you wanted to use a number other than the default, I was pretty sure that you could tap the thumbnail image to show the alternative numbers, and select from there, but this isn't working for me. Tapping the area other than the image selects the default number, but tapping the image has no effect.
Does anybody know how to get the Dialer to show the list of alternative numbers? Is it a setting/permission that I'm missing?
Anybody else having this problem, or can think of a solution?
If there a multiple numbers then i see them all listed when i click on the contact and then i select the one number i want. It was always listing them all, don't recall changing a setting
Thanks for the response - that's how I remember it working, but I can't imagine what I've done to stop if functioning like that.
I have the same problem on N910C 6.0.1. Does anyone have the solution?
P.S. I disabled all keyboards except the SwiftKey, disabled voice input and S voice. And removed S find from the notification dropdown by cuting the "com.sec.feature.findo.xml": https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/root-how-to-remove-s-finder-quick-t3161432
I dont know if that broke the dialer search, but i returned that last file and it didnt help (S find was back).
