Let me first clarify that I'm talking about in theory
It would theoretically be possible to cram X10i´s Android on Vivaz?
And vice versa again cram Vivaz´s Symbian onto X10i?
I think they have both 8 mega pixels and both video recording.
Both have three physical buttons at the bottom, and not least touchscreen .
However, the Vivaz not blink indicator.
Sry for my bad english .....

Usually is pretty difficult to port an OS on a different phone.
Just like your windows at home, a phone needs drivers for everything and this means those drivers have to be available or written for that specific platform.
To answer your questions, yes, it is possible
It is doable in short time? Most likely no.
It took years for android to be ported on iphone 2g and 3g and is not ported yet on 3gs so, figure out how long will take to put symbian on X10 (personally i'm wondering who will want that. i got rid of my old phone simply because was running symbian).
That´s right, but now Android OS and iPhone OS, us two completely different Operating systems.
I think more that you could cram a modded X10i Android OS (With S/E UX) onto Vivaz (Since they both phones are from S/E) So you just missing and create driver for Screen and processor ??.
Know that it is not equal to
Can i install windows mobile 6.5 in Vivaz ???

Square peg round hole!
VIVAZ has just 75MB internal memory X10 has 1gb! ...even the X10 mini tops that with 53 mb more at 128mb! ... taking into consideration customizations/branding etc it could be more or less left over of the total!
It wont go!
It would be great, if we could get Android OS on Vivaz.
why not...
Google "jetdroid"
to see that its possible to install android on Samsung jet which is Java mobile
Please God not Symbian. Terrible software memories from my Vivaz experience which lasted a week before swapping out for a w995!
It was like trying to playing COD on a Commodore64
Why not?
Vivaz has got OMAP3630 720 MHz ARM Cortex A8 like Motorola Milestone 2.
Camera driver - maybe from X10?
There are Jetdroid and Wavedroid.. So why not Vivazdroid?
I have tried to make a compare...
But it could be nice with Android OS on Vivaz...
I dont think you really get it, its like trying to mate a snail with a tiger

Maybe, maybe not.
X8 have 3´ screen, 600Mhz, 168Mb Ram. It has worse hardware and it runs Android
A friend of mine has a Vivaz and has just today asked me whether it would be possible to install Android. From the hardware requirements, it would be possible.
Is it possible or not? Where can I make myself smart or where there are instructions for it? He would like to flash his Vivaz with Android, Symbian so down! He asked me to make me smart and then maybe flash to be Vivaz with Android.
im also looking to flash a cfw to the vivaz, my girlfriend got one and is moaning that she hates it, i have had a look and it is a pos, dunno how it got go ahead to be made. looking to get rid of symbian, (never been a fan) and put android, or wm, or anything better then what it currently has.
is there any update on this theme >?
@x10mike,, LOL !!!!!

++1 ,, You are right!

hehe, lame joke, i know.
I also had the vivaz before my x10..hated it from day 2..lol. I couldn't get past the small screen much less the symbian os my brother warned me about. Took it back well within my 30days..

The custom rom supports H.264, MPEG4(DivX, XviD), MPEG2, WMV9, etc. with any containers, and going to be released soon. It is easy to think the playback support is just like Galaxy S.
The rom is made by Real_G, and I'm going to ask the developer to post the rom on here.
OF COURSE, THIS IS H/W DECODING.
**UPDATE #1 **
New introduction videos available, and the custom rom will be released soon
Oh, looking forward to this, finally! One of the few features I was missing...

hmmm... no, the rock player is software based
according to the ROM it supposed to be hardware based, like on the SGS

Just in time. I've been thinking of swapping mine for a Galaxy because MP4 playback sucks.

Yeah but I prefer hardware decoding as do some of the other people in this thread.

Where I find this program?
Moboplayer (or anything else) doesn't have audio for most 720p H.264 videos when using hardware encoding.
With software audio works, but video playback is choppy.
I have been anxiously awaiting this, coming from SGS where u could play just about anything without lag. I hope this is made available to those of us who don't use custom roms cause I like to stick to the regular Google releases.
Props to real_g and anyone else who is working on this; greatly appreciated.

I updated original post with new introduction videos
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12667470&postcount=1
I noticed in the video it's running CM7, or some variant of CM7? Hopefully it's just a minor update to the ROM.
so when can we download the ROMs?
Whats ETA on this? Looking forward to it.
hello
does the default ROM , or any other ROM support 3G video calling ?
i mean with out apps like tango or others
just normal 3G calling ( like samsing or nokia ! )
never mind guys
after some search i knew that it's not possible
best shot is to use apps
Request to XDA Developers
As we all know, native video call is not possible in Sony Xperia Phones.
I request to XDA Developers to develop a new android app to make native video call for Xperia phones.
So why don't you make your request in the Xperia Play forum? This is the Dell Streak 5 forum.
A New Revolution Is Coming For Arc S, Wireless Hdmi "Xbounds" By Dream Chip Tech.
Wow... waiting for this to hit the market soon
check videos :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ILHEUWzZTOw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlx7Z6j_An4
no need of dlna, i really think it sucks!!
just need hdmi t.v , wi-fi or bluetooth enabled phone(the better technology the faster it performs)
oh yes i am talking about Xbounds working on our arc s, arc ,etc phones which has opengl, etc ... u can say for all advance android smartphones.
better than htc media link(its too costly aswell)
in video the guy is saying when a customer will buy the product they will provide an app/software for phone and ofcourse xbounds dongle(i guess it has an hdmi port with it, not a usb port.. if yes more good for t.v's which just has hdmi and not usb, else would just need an additional wire as in second video posted)
once plugged in your t.v just on your wi-fi or bluetooth and as said then open the software from your phone, connect it the way it will be told and you'll view your phone on the big screen... watch videos do any damn thing its really fast just 1-2 millisecond difference that's like nothing!! and all that wirelessly !! WoOhoO
** Just one con is that you can't do other multitasking things while watching a movie, etc on your phone(whatever u'll be doing on phone it'll show u that only). Not like in htc one x, like u played a movie from it on t.v (htc media link attached) using wirelss hdmi and its still playing the movie on t.v and u are doing other stuff on phone ** (though this hardly matters to me)

Sir it'll make the phone do all that wirelessly!! nothing attached with phone
Edit : glad u saw the difference ...
just got an update from the real makers via e-mail:
Dear Mr. Singh,
sorry for the slow reply. xBounds is not available for end-users yet, as it is not an app that can easily be installed on the phone.
We are talking to numerous cell phone makers and are confident that xBounds will become available by Q3 this year.
We will let you know as soon the technology is available
Regards
Heiko Henkel
.....................................................................
Now what i am trying to figure out as he said that they are talkin to numerous cell phone makers, so is this thing(the software) be coming inbuilt in future phones with the device?!
Or still we will be able to buy it separately to be able to plug the device and install the software and play it on our old smartphones aswell?!
Thanks for the info! Is really very interesting!
The product is awesome. This product needs more advertising space in the net and more info about release date and available magazines. Waiting for it.

Interesting that... after a google type on "fronjector" I found... not a single piece of info as to what in god's name this is aside the fact that it has something to do with TV output, according to what the OP wrote.
Care to elaborate please? Some link for said "fronjector" would be nice. Thank you!

Hadn't heard of this one - it does mention "Sony Ericsson R800a", so that's certainly very promising.
I was actually considering trying to contact the developers of Android Transporter to see if they would consider implementing their solution on the Xperia Play:
http://esrlabs.com/android-transporter/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLEeZ9zU7yI (phone to phone)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyoZoNA8U24 (phone to raspberry pi)
I really like the Android Transporter approach because they use hardware acceleration to encode the video before it is transmitted (just as your phone uses hardware acceleration to encode video for the camera, it instead encodes the screen output and transmits it). And it is very standards-compliant and they released an open-source receiver for Raspberry Pi. But I think so far they've only targeted certain devices, for which they've released a custom rom for with their stuff baked in, so we would need them to develop a ROM for us.
