[Q] never ending resetting - EVO 4G General

Hey guys, sorry this is so long. So i posted something here about a week or two ago stating that my Evo which I bought on craigslist is resetting. The info I have for this evo is as follows:
Rooted to Metro pcs
Firmware version: 2.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-a2443432 htc-kerneland 18-2 #1
Build number Bugless beast to0mod vo 0.1
Software number 1.32.651.6
Let me start off by telling you what I have done so far after extensive research. I have done countless factory resets. Bought two new batteries. I have wiped data, and cache dalvik etc. I have (which was a recommendation by someone on here) installed metro droid 2.0. Which actually just made things worse and wound up having to boot into recovery to revive my phone.
I can't even finish watching a video on you tube. It will reset when music is playing, in the middle of a call or text, if the battery is hot or cold.
Sometimes it will get into a reboot cycle where the only screen that I see is the white evo screen. Other times it will get all the way to the android screen and then reset. Sometimes the white screen will just stay there. Usually this will go one for about a half an hour to an hour when finally by the grace of God himself will finally stay on and fully boot on.
I don't have astro or any task manger installed.
I'm really at a loss here folks. I called htc and they said that they would RMA it for me and as a last ditch resort I will do that but I was hoping the powers here might be able to lend me a hand. Thanks for all insightful help. PLLLEEAASE HELP!
Cheers, Jason

You're definitely going to need a new one. Mine was doing the same thing and its not fixable :/ but I got it swapped out same day from sprint, maybe you can ask HTC really nicely haha

Have you tried using the phone without the SD card?
I used to have a similar issue, took the SD card out and no mor random reboots/resets.

I knid of tried that, even reformatted my sd card. Etc and yet it still resets.
Oh well went to metro today to purchase a cheapy phone to hold me over while the evo is rma 'ed. HTC did say that they would tell me what is the matter with the phone when they determine whats up with it. IF I am told anything pertinent I will share it with everyone as I see this issue is quite a pain for a lot of people.

Some what disatisfied with my HD2

Dont know where to start.
1. crashes all the time,
2. crashes when the battery is low, have to do a soft reset to regain functionality
3. the battery life is a joke. charge in the morning and by around 4pm i got to be cautious on what calls i take as it will die on me.
4. freaks out randomly when using opera. could it be my fingers are too big? lol
5. sms some times dont send. found the fix on the htc site, still not working.
feel like i made a terrible mistake getting this phone, why should i have to do hacks/fixes my self when i have never needed to on any othr fone before?
its trully a different fone culture using this, as i type this on the hd2 i have had to retype this at least 7 times. lol....
anyway the basic functions should be flawless, but they are not which worries considerably.
Seems like you got a bad piece which is unfortunate. I hope you can get it changed, because this is not how it's supposed to be.
I think I got a pretty decent piece. I never experienced any battery issues and neither the sms bug which I know many experienced on this forum. Also mine never crashes so I can just assume that you got a faulty piece.
As for the typing I can agree with you. However, if you tweak by decreasing the sensitivity (which actually I never experienced as a decrease in sensitivity, only as an enhancement while typing), that problem will be gone as well. It's not a difficult tweak, it can be easily done by installing BsB tweaks which can be found here in the forums.
Although I agree with you that one should not be forced to tweak this phone oneself, but I guess we'll have to live with it
thanks for your reply,
i will try the tweak, and see how it goes, i emailed vodafone to let them know. i forgot to let them know how slow the phone gets some times.
oh well, this is what i get ditching nokia!
try to see if you can exchange the phone. must be able to if you can show the phone crashes to vodafone and if you have the device not for too long they should exchange it for you as far as I know,..
Vodafone! are saying they have none in stock and cant replace it, would it be worth just flashing it with a different ROM since there is nothing they can do...

Have you tried a hard reset?
Also MaskedMagi just posted that Vodafone DO have some replacement phones left: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5285586&postcount=184
Perhaps it would be worth calling them back.

Yep, just to clarify that was about 3 hours ago so fingers crossed I'll get the phone tomorrow, though with the incoming snow probably not
I'm hoping that it is actually a HD2 and not a HTC Touch HD 2 or something as people have been confused over the phone before, I'll definately check before giving back my old one!
Needless to say I hope the newer one is not in fact worse than the old one! Give them a ring if you want, but remember you have to be within the 28 day period to get a return/replacement.
The direct line for returns they gave me was: 08448540430
Called them back but it was to late, got to call back during normal working hours... they are playing the arse because i called after the 28 days, when in fact I originally called on the 30th December, 27 days from when i received the phone on the 3rd.
I am very much annoyed, if they werent on holiday, there systems were down, then if not that they put me through to 3 different depts to then have to email v-store to them then telling me I am actually meant to call another dept.
These guys cannot be serious!!!
If you make enough of a fuss and tell them your original call was within the 28 day period and that they have delayed you they might listen, just have to see how it goes. Good luck with them tomorrow, keep us posted on how it goes

Originally they did, and the lady was meant to call back. But when she did the phone crashed. So I called back on the land line and got someone else instead.
Then had to go through the whole process again!! Will call back tommorrow though!
Did a hard reset we will see how that goes in the mean time.

[Q] Bricked Phone? Can't even turn on to recovery and not charging...

holy cow!! I think I just bricked my phone... I hope someone can help me.
Here's the situation. I was on the latest MIUI 1.6.17 demonSPEED v.1.2. Everything was awesome! Then today I went to my dentist and there was a sign that said that they are not in today and to call a number. I was about to call, then everything got stuck. I needed to call them, so I just did a flash in front of the dentist's office with the ROM I had on my SD card.
re-flashed v1.2 with no problem and I was about to select "reboot my phone", then I was like, oh i'll re-flash Swype as well... the swype zip got stuck for like 5 minutes during the flash (and I still needed to call the dentist). So I was like, ok I'll just pull off the battery and restart the flashing procedures...
That's when I put the battery back and the phone won't even boot up now. I'm now home (didn't even get to call my dentist yet after all that), and plugged in the charger and it won't even charge now (orange LED not turning on)... Can't even boot it in recovery. Phone is unresponsive to any buttons...
Does anyone know of any other way to even turn the phone on?
Geez, that was the Noobiest mistake ever!! All that because I had to make a call... WOw, I'm speechless thinking of my stupidity! I hope someone can help...
Thanks in advance guys!
Quite honestly dude i dont think you have much to hope for except to call tmo and tell them its broken. If its truly bricked even they cant confirm it since they cant turn it on. Only thing i think you could try is pluging it into your pc and trying to see if the pc recognizes it and lets you run adb commands or something similar. Hope this helps.

I doubt you'll have problems. Everyone I've ever heard of sending in the truly bricked phone has gotten it replaced for free but that's my experience. Most don't have a second thought about it because they know there's nothing t mo can do.

yup, the thing is that I'm not a T-Mobile customer anymore. I wonder how I'm even gonna get in contact with them to get a replacement. I remember from being their customer, that the first thing they ask you is your phone number with them. If you didn't have one, they just said they can't help you... Does that sound about right?

yeah man, that was the analysis of the customer service rep that was helping me. He thinks that the battery somehow is knocked out... That's why he's shipped out a battery. Just waiting for that to confirm that it's the battery or something else! If that doesn't solve it, I'll have to send it back to HTC for repairs. Probably won't be able to get a replacement with T-Mobile since I cancelled my account with them like 4 months ago already... but thanks for the input!

[Q] can't be heard

Well, just this week nobody can hear me when I make calls or they call me.
I've had my phone work perfect since September 2nd when I bought from Verizon.
It runs 4.4.4 totally stock. Tried clearing out the microphone port and only helped a tad.
Is there a way to fix it without a return exchange?

You said U R running totally stock. What's the pain of a hard reset? Backup appz and it's a snap to restore phone to pre-wipe state. I have odined back to stock, gone through the whole process to root again and restore everything a couple of times now. If anything, that would be considered a pain but it really ain't chit ...
You can be sure that's prolly the first thing the rep is gonna try in the store before giving you a new phone.

If there is a problem might be best to go through Samsung for a repair instead of Verizon to just get a refurbished device. That's what I'd do.
Before you reset/return...take your battery out for 10 min. or so...and then restart your device...maybe the battery voltage or calibration is causing the speaker interference...it's worth a shot.

I haven't made any calls or received any since I factory reset it 2 days ago. Maybe it works again, I'll try tomorrow than go to Verizon
Well I think it was the battery. The microphone seems to work now. Did 3 voice recordings. All of them came out crystal clear with and without background noise.
Good to hear...it wouldn't hurt to purchase a new charger too.
I'm gonna hang on to the charger, its the first offical charger I've had in awhile. My DINC, nexus and gs3 all burned through their real charger oddly quick. I think its the weather where I'm from its been 111°-120°f for all of September

Network cutting out issue - two phones in a row

Hey all! Firstly, thanks in advance for any help or guidance. I have had two 6p's, and i love them. I don't even want any other phone.. But there is this issue where the network will cut from LTE down to no service and you cannot fix it without restarting the phone. It starts off slow, maybe once a day.. then it starts happening more and more, till its unusable. Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried returning it to factory and everything. Google store replaced it once, but that was it, now they say they won't replace it again because it's outside the 3 month warranty :/\
small edit:
Just talked to Huawei tech support to try and get it replaced.. Long story short, they wont, but at the end of the call, the guy talked all quietly and told me "If you get another one of these, do not install the updates for it!" he then went on to telling me that it is only suppose to work in Europe right now and the phone is not capable of supporting it for the US. He didn't go into too much more detail other than that, but i found it kind of funny and odd...

same exact issues? it would just show no service from LTE and wouldn't come back unless restarting eh? Ill try the guide you posted. thanks!

yes same issue it would show a little x.
but the replacements should not void the rest of your warranty is that a new thing i rmaed my nexus 6 like 6 times over the whole life of the warranty they never reset my 1 year warranty or told me once you get this rma you only have 90 day thats junk i would just tell them your original warranty is still valid if you need rma but reflash will probably fix it
Just wanted to give a small update--I tried going back to factory using the latest factory images found in the link/thread above. That did not work for me, I still had the same issues. So, following the warning from the huawei rep, I tried factory images from the last 6.0.1 version... This worked for me. I ran it for a day with no issues until I thought I would try running an updated 7.1.2 custom ROM (SAOSP) with the latest bootloader but keep the old 6.0.1 radio.... This has been working for a solid day so far. I hope this has been the fix and I hope it helps someone else. I have noticed no decrease in network strength compared to before the issues started .
Last note: it might be in my head, but I have noticed a decrease in phone temperature (physically) , since using the old radio.

Nexus 6P Stuck in a boot loop even after stock image

Hey guys, I was using my phone today as per usual but for some reason, the app I was using crashed and then the phone shut off. The phone then went into a boot loop and I thought it'd be an easy fix to just reformat the phone/factory reset, however, these solutions didn't work.
So I went to Factory Image for Nexus and installed 7.1.2 (N2G48B, Jul 2017) with the script and line by line but there is still no success. The phone just turns on, has the "Google" boot screen then turns back off. I am unable to get into recovery and nothing that I tried worked.
I tried looking around for a fix and there are some wacky solutions that people have used and had some success like using a heat gun on it and letting it die out but I feel like that's unsafe.
I also tried this but it also didn't work.
Can anyone help me with this issue?
(Also my 6P is out of warranty so I'm pretty much screwed)
Update:
I contacted Google first, then Contacted Huawei about the same issue. Explained to Google what was wrong, then Huawei and Huawei told me to just contact a 3rd party repair shop to see if they can fix it. I looked at motherboard replacements for my 6P and it costs around $200-$300. I thought that was a bit insane, so I contacted Google again in hopes of them replacing my 6P despite it not being under warranty. I explained to them that I contacted Huawei about to issue, then looked all over the internet to find a solution to the problem and they understood that I was frustrated with this problem so they replaced my device! Took a lot of explaining but it all worked out.
tl;dr contacted google to RMA my device even though it is not under a warranty. Also, as far as I know there is no solution to this problem except replacing the motherboard.

First, check a few things. Can you enter recovery mode? When flashing stock, did you flash all the images separately after extracting the stock zip and run the format user data command afterwards?. What do you see in device manager when plugging your phone in while in bootloader?

I cannot enter recovery mode. I called Huawei and they said "When you are in bootloader, go to Recovery mode option and then when you press the power button, hold the power button in and the Volume Up button to get into recovery." I tried these steps but it doesn't work.
I first used the script that was given in the folder to flash the stock image but it didn't work. So I did the steps manually and still had no luck. I do not know what you mean when you say "format user data" command. The instructions on the google website doesn't say to do this step. Also, I assumed that all the data is erased when I locked and unlocked the bootloader.
When I plug it into my computer, My device manager says this: https://puu.sh/wJBzI/f7fa02b291.png
i am literally having the same problem. Just a random bootloop in the middle of the day. cant get to recovery, did a full factory reset, even relocked, stuck in a google logo bootloop. followed step 10 in this thread
Same issue here. I can get into bootloader and recovery. Have tried flashing all sorts of different firmwares, sideloaded many OTA's.
in TWRP if I try to backup or restore it craps out a few percent in.

Wow this seems like a common issue..I'm surprised that there isn't a fix for it already. I'll keep this post updated if I find a fix for the issue, but as for now, I'm waiting for my phone to die out and seeing if I can do anything from there.

BLOD is a hardware issue. No recovery mode= S.O.L. Time to move on.

Some but not all.
If I wanted to format all possible partitions which would they be?

Not sure I just did data and cache. Don't believe mine was true BLOD but presented same symptoms.

First, check a few things. Can you enter recovery mode? When flashing stock, did you flash all the images separately after extracting the stock zip and run the format user data command afterwards?. What do you see in device manager when plugging your phone in while in bootloader?

Out of warranty? Well, sure you can buy a motherboard and swap it out for more than the phone is worth... or just buy another phone?

It's out of warranty.
But why would a phone that was made in 2015 break in 2017. A 2 year life cycle? It's so infuriating that I spent $550 on a phone and now the only other option for me to use this phone after a year and a half is to either buy a new motherboard for the phone or get a new one.
Got an rma with Huawei Canada. Purchased from telus Dec 1 2015
I don't wanna sound like an ass but clearly folks are not reading and searching before posting. This BLOD issue has so many different threads it's now silly. Boot loop with no recovery equals dead. Period. If you have recovery available, them keep plugging away at the options people's have offered in countless threads. As a parting note, just scroll down passed this past for say the next 40 and count the number of posts about boot looping. It might surprise you... Sorry for the rant...
I have the BLOD as well. 16 month old phone bought from Best Buy, so Google and Huawei have both given me the middle finger. I'm so [email protected]#king pissed about it.
I've been able to do the hairdryer trick to get the phone up and running again, but I can't really do anything beyond texting. The moment I do anything proc-intensive that would cause it to flip to the big cluster I'm back to the BLOD and fishing out my wife's hairdryer again. It's lunacy.
I'm curious as to how big of a fraction of the N6Ps are affected by this. Like CyberpodS2 said, there are a bazillion threads about this now, so how many Nexuses have sh$t the bed at this point? Seems like a lot (although the internet is admittedly a very noisy place)...

I saw all of the posts about the bootloop. I just couldn't find a solution to the problem so I posted again with a post thst had detailed things on what I did. It's insane how there is no fix for it though. It's even a common problem and Google/Huawei doesn't cover it unless its under warranty...
I was able to contact Google about the situation and they sent me a replacement. I'm considering selling the unit they sent me..

You should unload it on Craigslist/Ebay/whatever ASAP, in my opinion. Use the equity to buy a better, more stable phone... I love the Pixel but it costs a lot... at least it's not ****ing Huawei. Screw this goddamn phone.
I've picked up an LG G5 as a stopgap until I can figure out what my next move is. I'm just really annoyed because I had planned on keeping the 6P for at least 3 years; I'm not big on constantly upgrading.. I like to buy a high-end product that will last me a long time and that I won't have to worry about. I didn't even make halfway to that ownership goal.

Oh the same thing happened here with my 64gig version. My warranty expired in April and Phone BLOD in June in the middle of the day while i was listening to music at office. Had to spend the rest of the day jumping through loops with either google and huawei. The end result was motherboard replacement and since i had no warranty they wanted to give 25k (390$) (New 32gb comes at around 22k). I tried all the options that were available here on XDA but nothing worked. I am so disappointed in huawei and google, I've seen cases in US where they replace the device even when warranty is expired but not here, the customer care services are sorely lacking at my place. Week after bought One Plus 5 which is loads better than 6P and you don't even need to root it as most of things that needed root comes per-loaded in their Settings and no bloatware whatsoever.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna sell it and wait for the Galaxy Note 8 maybe. I'm going to stick with my 3 year old HTC one M8 in the meantime...Also, What do you think the asking price is for the Nexus 6P 64GB model is?
