Htc Magic Vodafone - How to Root ???

i buy a Htc Magic Vodafone phone and i want to root it, and i don't now how
my phone have this details - saphire pvt 32b , radio 2.22.19.26l, firmware 1.6
second problem is i have CyanogenMod 4.1 and i find a new update 4.2.1 and is not working to update it, maybe because my phone is not rooted?
help pls

i can't download files i need (i need another mirror for files) and i want to use Method 2 but i have some question: how i boot the device in fastboot mode and where i Type the following command on my desktop?

i hva the same problem. But i have installed a lot of ROMs and nothing works for me. i have now hero rom and all is soo laggy . I really messed up my phone.
Is there any way so bring my phone to htc magic 1.6 OFFICIAL ? factory reset doesnt work .

Its for 32A only ofc cause HTC provides Updates for HTC branded devices only ..

i need a solution for my question from top of threat : how i make to install Cyanogen 4.2.1 on my htc magic vodafone 32b 1.6 version ? (now i have cyanogen 4.1 version installed) and second i need a step by step solution to root my phone pls

You will have to read the wiki and then go to General or Q and A sections when you get stuck.
There is no simple or short answer.
Please read the sticky threads.

It's my understanding that you must first downgrade to firmware 1.5 to root. Maybe that's just for the so called "one click" root process??...

root via my software its straight forward my friend even idiots can do it

A very confusing problem

My HTC magic has the following -
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT- 1.33.0010 (SAPP10000)
CLPD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17

can somebody guide me , or post a link to change the HBOOT to something else other than 0010. Ive tried alll the methods , but no luck.
The Magic which i have is from Qatar (vodafone).
Any info on changing the ROM would be helpful. I just got the phone and im upgrading from HTC Diamond.

it says that the ROM has a higher version than the one which im flashing with... my ROM ver is - 2.56.415.5 and the one im trying to flash is 2.53.xxxx ( which is the highest ver ive found on the internet.
Ive tried everything , so if u know any other method to fake the update , like faking the rom version , that wud be helpful.

can you give us the name of the rom or the link ?

Note that your informations about your phone show that your never changed the spl and the radio , and as you know every custom rom need specific spl or radio, and your fist question is can somebody guide me , or post a link to change the HBOOT to something else other than 0010.or my link give you all necessary to change the hiboot and radio ,

If you list the methods you tried instead of just saying you tried all you might get more help. If you really tried all we wouldn't be able to help you anyway.
But instead of making us try to guess what it is there is going wrong, provide us with info. Then people won't come in and post link to the wiki and things like that
Anyway, goldcard should be able change this SPL, and i believe that other methods is available as well. I used to have that SPL myself before i got an engineer instead. But you should change your SPL before trying to flash a Rom, but seems like you understood that just trying anyway. Other solutions is to find a newer RUU update there match your mobile which have S-OFF so you can downgrade the SLP after that.

So where can i find the "newer RUU update" ? That will solve the whole problem. And sry abt the less info on the first post.

I would take a less risky approach than RUU updates, but it was the way i did it cause back then i got my phone the 1.33.0010 was still perfected.
You got the SDK on the PC and able to list devices through ADB? And a goldcard as well?

Ya , im able to connect it and run adb devicelist and i'm able to create the goldcard as well. But wen i'm trying to load the SPL , it shows that the current ROM ver is higher . S-ON means that i cant downgrade right?
So i'm guessing there is no solution for this problem

I can speak only for myself, but what I'm telling now i think is 99% accepted.
However I can not take any responsibility for your actions.
1. Usually it's safe to try any custom ROM with will NOT put your security on ON.
2. I only had problems with Rogers stock ROM which did not flashed correctly even if it said it did.
3. If you have S-OFF, you can recover your phone most of the cases if it boots into fastboot.
4. However, if you get S-ON, you can recover your phone with goldcard if you have a higher version of the ROM (I don't recommend you to get there)
5. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE HBOOT - RADIO PAIR YOU FLASH. IT CAN GIVE YOU SERIOUS HEADACHES. Search which pairs are compatible
6. READ CAREFULLY, BUT CAREFULLY EVERY TUTORIAL BEFORE STARTING TO DO ANYTHING
7. AH. DON'T EVER BE IN A HURRY WHEN FLASHING CUSTOM ROMS AND BE SURE YOUR PHONE IS FULLY CHARGED
8. The rest is history and, as always, GOOGLE is your friend

i have downgrade hboot 1.01 (2.2.1) with JTAG to 0.80.0008
and now i can access only HBOOT interface, 2.2.1 failed to boot:
i see htc logo and noghing happend (and vibro always on)
i have tried to flash official 2.1 Eclair and this flash was failed:
main version is older update fail!
can anybody help me?

..... Edit : never mind ...

I think making s-off with xtc-clip can help. Because the verification of your "new" h-boot version fails. Maybe do it same like i did, go to a private mobile shop in the near who can unlock phones, and ask them which box they have to unlock HTC Phones and if they have XTC-Clip they can make your Wildfire S-OFF

There is a thread about downgrading Wildfire from 2.2.1 to 2.1 except the hboot. Maybe it works for you. Look for it (I can't right now) and try it.

Your english is quite normal.
You should manually change version bytes in a misc partition. Check out topics about downgrade in this forum for more info. And also, if you jtagged your phone, you can do with it absolutely anything. You can even find a same phone and transfer full flash, but don't change the imei and other identification settings of your phone.

Sorry for the question. What is JTAG and what is its use...?
ok. u have downgraded the hboot from 1.01 to 0.80.0008 , but u didn't mention about the secure flag. Was it S-ON or S-OFF before. [im expecting S-ON here]
ok. Then u tried to flash the official eclair and it failed with the error "main version is older". I don't know if u r trying to root (with S-ON) ur phone by downgrading or something like that. But i know that, there are two official eclair RUUs with two hboot versions, and i think u have flashed the older one (if so, u might face that error). If u flash the newer one that might be solved (not sure bcoz i don't know about JTAG).
Newer official eclair RUU has hboot 0.80.0008 (last digit may be 7 also) and has Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25
Older official eclair RUU has hboot 0.80.0002 (not sure abt last digit +/- 1) and has Radio_13.45.55.24H_3.35.15.31
And if the newer eclair RUU (u may find) has hboot 0.80.0007 , then u will face the same error, as i expect (bcoz urs is 0.80.0008).

Looking for a SIM-Unlock HTC Wildfire

Greetings friends, some of you know or have a SIM-Unlock HTC Wildfire, I have a phone of these and I could not release it so I could put a simcard from another carrier, as it is DIGITEL and I want to use with MOVISTAR, and the Phone is S-OFF, the ROOT and also has the 2.2.1 version of Android FROYO.
If anyone knows of a utility that Serve me and is not to pay online because I have no way to pay in another currency because we have here in VENEZUELA with Limited Dollars. Thank you very much for all your help provided.

The only way i know of is from a shop that unlocks phones or via a code from ebay or similar. We @ xda have seriously tried to find a method but failed. Sorry but it looks like your going to have to pay up some dollar.

S-OFF means that the security flag has been turned off, which allows you to install a custom recovery and unlock the full potential of your phone
You can still install a custom recovery when S-ON (HTCDev unlock), but being S-ON doesn't allow you to edit anything on the internal memory once the OS is loaded.
Best way to achieve S-OFF and install a custom recovery. is to use Revolutionary.

Well, once you get a custom recovery running, you can then install custom ROMs, tweaks and mods and stuff.
