Best Rom for Evo!!!! - EVO 4G General

The Evo is a great device we all know that. But it also has many great roms. I have pretty much tried every single rom for the Evo twice. Here is my list;
AOSP
CyanogenMod 6&7: Best AOSP rom now that it has full Hdmi mirroring and Wimax support. (Best AOSP)
MIUI: I hate iOS but that doesn't you will. Has many great themes and features.
Evervolv: Just like CyanogenMod but without the Wimax and this is stock Gingerbread.
Sense
Myn Warm Z: My personal favorite of the 2.0 Sense roms. Great because its ultra stable and Sense 2.0 is sexy.
VirusROM REVOlution Z: It was my first Sense 2.0 and works well.
There are more in these links;
alchemistar.blogspot.com Check the Rom lists
123rom .com Use Xda for downloads.
I would recommend you find them on XDA first however.
Do you have any other good roms you wanna throw around?

You felt the need to put this here?

On a whim last night I tried Koni's ELITE Series II, and frankly, I think it is about as slick as a ROM gets, when talking about design, speed, overall theming goes, at least as good as Myn's Warm2.2, and perhaps better looking, IMHO. (No offence meant at all Myn.)
(not playing around with WarmZ just yet.)
Just throwing that out there as an alternative.
(and yeah, this should have gone in General section.)

Wow. Thanks for this useful development. My phone is working so much better now and fires lasers out of the camera.

I was just looking for ideas. Anyway I've tried Koni's and while it is nice, once you try Sense 2.0 you never go back.

Yes it seems the leds had this ability from the beginning, further proving my point that Android is Skynet.

Suggestions for a solid/stable ROM -> So many to choose from

Hey xda,
I just got a HTC G2, straight of ebay. I'll be following the tutorials posted to perma-root, CID unlock and S-off (not using visionary).
My only question and concern is, just because I am new to this phone, apart from CM being at the top, what other roms are stable? fast? and reliable? (decent battery life, not too many fc's etc)
I'm very much interested in something with HTC Sense, but meh, am willing to compromise if its too buggy. I've been reading here and there that there are tons of problems with scaling etc when phones switches from portrait/landscape etc.
Any suggestions will be great! Thank you for reading this far!!
Sorry, but you're going to have to do what everyone else does. Try them out and decide for yourself.
Hello and welcome!
My suggestions:
If you want sense, look up Virtuous 1.0.2 for froyo. If you want sense 3.0, look up Virtuous Fusion 1.0.0.
If you want stock android, look up Virtuous G-lite 1.0.2.
All of the above ROMs are by the same dev, are very stable and I have used all of the above. Currently using G-lite because as much as I love sense, it does take alot of memory.
As posted before, try the ROMs for about a week each and see how you like them. It's all personal preference.

insertcoin is a nice mix between sense 2.1 and 3.0

I couldn't agree more; as far as ROMs go, rmk's are the most stable. CyanogenMod7 is actually extremely buggy still on the G2 (at least, when I used it a few weeks ago). While CM7 is probably the fastest ROM I've used, there are lots of little things that don't work correctly, and newer builds sometimes will break things that worked on older builds. I'm currently running G-Lite and I'm extremely satisfied.

Cm6.1.1 is nice and stable with decent battery life. It isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the myriad gingerbread releases but it gets the job done and can be tweaked to appear incredibly 'speedy' by using spare parts from the app market and Launcher Pro.
Ill throw my vote in there for Pyrorom. Its fast and is based off of CM7 if I remember correctly. I had tried a few, but as soon as I booted Pyro, I knew it was the one.
Good luck anyways.

fwiw I have yet to find another ROM as stable as GingerVillain 1.5 with the 4.02.17 radio. Everything works perfect and I can get 18 hours battery life.
Tried Glite 1.02, super smooth, great ROM with the 4.30 radio BUT could not get the bluetooth to pair. Plus a few minor quirks with the camera flash not working. This is mostly due to the hw differences between the G2 and desire Z. I have a bell Can Desire Z
if u don't want sense...
If you have a G2, go for Glite 1.02 otherwise GV 1.5 is stable and can't be beat ..yet imo
Cm7 has been the only rom I stayed with. I tried sense roms and wanted to pull NY hair out, I simply just cannot stand sense.

Oxygen ROM on the Nexus-S is AWESOME. It is a pure vanilla stock Android style ROM, no bloatware, no carrier UI, but just the way Google meant Android to be. And it is crazy fast and smooth, with great battery life, can only imagine the Galaxy S2 would be out of this world with this ROM.

Well, look at MIUI-Galnet, they HAD to move away from XDA because of their donation schemes (Something to do with new devices) I think with Oxygen & DevNull it's just an agreement with the CM7 team since Oxygen is the same just a different framework. Not sure really.
But, all in all, I prefer AOSP always have, it's what I miss about my Nexus S & One basicalle

Not entirely true, the reasons Adamg moved away from XDA were the lack of moderation here and the 'dumb' questions being posted here. Those are also the reasons most devs move away here...

i totally agree! but my "problem" is, the SGS2 is just so freakin fast, i never had any speed issues on the stock rom and battery life isnt very different.... i WANT to use oxygen, but with this phone i would just get less features (no ukw-radio e.g.) :-/
(and if i dont want some crap/bloatware, i just remove/freeze it with titanium)
totally different story on other phones, Oxygen on my Desire was a total game-changer, just unbelievable what a difference it was compared to the stock htc rom!

Yes, this is the funny thing that I ended up using a Samsung ROM (Cognition) after trying all the other options simply because it is fast as well, but has all the extra features (most importantly - for me - the wide video format support and the hw accelerated browser). It seems that Samsung is the first manufacturer that finally starts to get the hang of cooking a functional and fast ROM .
I am using this rom and I think it is simple, fast, good on battery life. I will keep it for a while. Thanks to Adam and the poster.

Personally the Sense ROM's are too laggy for my taste. I run CM7 and then load on a bunch of customizations to make it look hella awesome
I'll agree with u on that one, but the taste on sense 3.0 and 3.5 is awesome. it runs ok for me, its not too laggy tho
Sent from my Droid Incredible 3D using xda premium
The best way to find the best rom for you is to make a nandroid of your current setup and try whatever rom you are interested in. Because what some people might find to be the best rom here you might not like. Its all based on taste. I will say this, if you want speed and battery life go aosp. If you want pretty widgets and can put up with lag go sense.
Yea I'm down with sense

Wildstang's roms have always been solid for me. I would recommend his 3.0 Rom based on the desire hd, it is optimized for a single core device with WVGA resolution so it is just as smooth as our OTA. Battery life is pretty amazing, I get about a full day out of the stock battery with moderate use. That's from about 6:30 am to about 6:00 pm with about 20% left at the end of the day. If you chose his rom, I would wait until vfour drops tonight or tomorrow morning to flash so you don't have to start all over after you set everything up.

I'm loving the 3.5 sense with 3D movement. I don't think I'll go back after this ROM. I've tried Nils and Newt. Both are very similar. But very awesome.

Geeze... I've gone through so many ROMs on that dInc in the last 2 days I can't keep them straight. If I'm right, that's the same ROM I slapped on there last and it's working like a dream. It seemed like an honestly finished piece of work. I'm so happy not to be dealing with that butterfaced CM7 anymore. No offense to the devs, but two things really irked me a little in looking for ROMs. First, names and OPs that didn't describe what the ROM was. Second, no mention in the OP of major known issues... like a camera that FC's after every pic??? And I saw one that didn't even have a download. Instead it pushed you off to Rootzwiki. Kinda goofy, I thought. Don't even ask me to point fingers because I wouldn't even if I could. Frankly, I don't remember anything I flashed except that last one... because it worked and I liked it. The others got a 5 minute interview and didn't get the job and were promptly forgotten.
I can't mess with the 3.x roms to choppy/laggy. I think the 3.0 ports show just how outdated our hardware is. Ive just been rollin with the 2.3.4 GB release. The speed and battery life is great.

I've gotta represent for Jermaine. I'm running InSensitive Minimalist 2.3.1 right now and it is great, very fast, smooth, stable. Basically the OTA with all of the bloat and more removed, including the Rosie launcher.
Why not just go AOSP, you might ask? Well, I feel like the Inc just runs better with the Sense framework, and I'm a sucker for the Sense apps, Mail, Camera, Music, Gallery, People. That ROM is the best of both worlds, IMHO.
I've tried a few Sense 3 ROMs, and they were a lot of fun...but they ultimately felt like an awkward fit.
But here's the bottom line...there is no *best* ROM. There are a lot of options, especially on this phone, and you have the freedom to find the one that best suits your needs and preferences. That is the beauty of Android, of XDA, and of the many great Devs.
So...happy flashing and much respect to all the Devs.

Sense 3.5
Bliss base
Runny nav bar
No bloat
Runs perfect without swap
Or maybe u wanna port Android evolution or Runnymede desire rom by sebastian15? The latter is a great rom
Yeah, the DZ community has a love/hate relationship with 3.5 sense rom, so a one running smoothly without swap, no bloat, nicely themed (easy on the eyes ), is a way to go.
There are alot of sense 3.5 roms for the DZ. I've tried them all (literally), so far the Bliss sense and the NRG 3.5 sense roms are good, other I had trouble with (laggy, slow, crashes...).
MIUI, seen one seen them all, although popular you will be just one in a bucket of full pretty good and functional MIUI roms.
Stock g2 or AOSP also, there are alot of them for the DZ, there has to be yet an AOSP that can beat the awesome CM 7 rom.
If you make it really try hard to stand out, cause it will be burred soon under the mentioned ones.
You could try porting a weird obscure ROM that nobody has really seen much of. I remember using a ROM by SiulMagic called LiquidM_Villain, its basically an Acer modified version of Froyo. I used it for a few weeks before leaving because I missed Gingerbread, but it was quite a neat ROM. Theres a Gingerbread version around now that could be ported? Or maybe theres another modified version of Android that nobody really sees much of?

Honeycomb is a bad idea when we have ICS being ported at the moment (which if you check the dev page, there's a thread with an almost complete port) since honeycomb was designed purely for tablets and is not meant for phones. A LOT of quite possibly pointless work would have to go in it.
take any existing ROM - figure out how to make it have even better reception in weak signal areas - and you will be a STAR on XDA!!
and start with the ROM that is the fastest, leanest, and has the best battery life and most free RAM of any ROM.........yes I am talking about G-Lite 2.0.1
My idea is the latest stock rom with nice tweaks and addons but that's just an idea... And maybe nobody likes it
