Sense 3.5
Bliss base
Runny nav bar
No bloat
Runs perfect without swap
Or maybe u wanna port Android evolution or Runnymede desire rom by sebastian15? The latter is a great rom

Yeah, the DZ community has a love/hate relationship with 3.5 sense rom, so a one running smoothly without swap, no bloat, nicely themed (easy on the eyes ), is a way to go.
There are alot of sense 3.5 roms for the DZ. I've tried them all (literally), so far the Bliss sense and the NRG 3.5 sense roms are good, other I had trouble with (laggy, slow, crashes...).
MIUI, seen one seen them all, although popular you will be just one in a bucket of full pretty good and functional MIUI roms.
Stock g2 or AOSP also, there are alot of them for the DZ, there has to be yet an AOSP that can beat the awesome CM 7 rom.
If you make it really try hard to stand out, cause it will be burred soon under the mentioned ones.

You could try porting a weird obscure ROM that nobody has really seen much of. I remember using a ROM by SiulMagic called LiquidM_Villain, its basically an Acer modified version of Froyo. I used it for a few weeks before leaving because I missed Gingerbread, but it was quite a neat ROM. Theres a Gingerbread version around now that could be ported? Or maybe theres another modified version of Android that nobody really sees much of?

Lol or he could build cm7 for the acer liquid metal my wife has it, nice device but seriously lacking in the rom department. Taz if your interested fire me a pm, I have some background on the liquid and could help out you'd be a god on the liquid metal modaco forum
As for the g2 there isn't anything I can think of...we pretty much have everything except full ICS.
Taz I'm serious about the acer tho...pm me!

Great idea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416622

What specs does the acer have?
Also, will hopefully try my hand at that desire rom. Doesn't look too easy because of desire-specific things, but will try

Lots of similarities with the DZ taz, same cpu, ill have to check again. But they've been trying to port cm7 from the DZ to the liquid MT, they almost have it but I think you could blow it out of the water.

Honeycomb?
I noticed the HC SDK 3.0 uses the GB launcher so...
Some other folks built and compiled HC for their phones too, off the SDK I believe.

Honeycomb is a bad idea when we have ICS being ported at the moment (which if you check the dev page, there's a thread with an almost complete port) since honeycomb was designed purely for tablets and is not meant for phones. A LOT of quite possibly pointless work would have to go in it.

take any existing ROM - figure out how to make it have even better reception in weak signal areas - and you will be a STAR on XDA!!
and start with the ROM that is the fastest, leanest, and has the best battery life and most free RAM of any ROM.........yes I am talking about G-Lite 2.0.1

My idea is the latest stock rom with nice tweaks and addons but that's just an idea... And maybe nobody likes it

I agree. I was doing the same thing as you trying to find the difference between two different ROMs and I found that it was just easier to flash and try them yourself. Plus it was fun flashing different ROMs
I really like Roto CM7 rom So far out of all of all the roms I have tryed and it seems more stable as well as fast. but I am flashing B#54 because it has the tethering in it. seems he has taken it out after that and since I do not have Internet at home anymore... Moved and have not gotten it.... I tether...
Hey,
Well Virtuous is based on the stock rom (therefore it comes with sense). On the other hand is CM which is build on top of vanilla android (therefore it can use 2.3).
If you like the look and feel and the bundled apps of the desire z with stock rom, you will love Virtuous because its just an extension.
If you think the stock one is overloaded and you like the vanilla android experience, CM is the way to go.
In both cases you get a custom kernel with a lot of nice features.
I use CM on my G1 and Virtuous on my G2. And I like both! well more the G2 but that has nothing to do with the rom

I could do that.. but id like to hear what the general public says before adventuring into the world of sense roms. I'm running virtuous Rom right now. It's okay. Seems little laggy. Should be faster on the g2 then the evo which i have in front of me as we speak. Id like to say the G2 is much faster than the evo.

Are you using the standard or advanced kernel, and if the latter what are you OC'ing your phone to? I'm using the standard kernel, and my phone doesn't seem laggy at all. There are the occasional moments of slowness, but nothing to the point where I would consider it troublesome to me.

HTC said that the Desire family of devices would be getting an official update to v2.3 in June or July.

MIUI, Cyanogen, or Sense ROMS??

which guys do you use and WHY?
i use Sense roms mainly for 1 reason...AUTO-FOCUS on VIDEO RECORDING...
i tried MIUI but uninstalled
tried CYANOGEN but eventually went back to SENSE roms.
as off 4/30 i am using MIUI_1.4.29_OsiMood v1.2 + WiFi Calling/ and i must say, i am kinda feeling the overall performance and ui. Might stick to this for a while.
Using CM7 because I've heard it's the quickest and with the best battery life. Never tried Sense outside of store demo's; while pretty I've heard it has lower battery life.
Never tried MIUI, though it looks interesting.
Which miui did you flash? The newer versions have wonderful ui, in my opinion xD ive never really stuck with sense just because there isn't much choice as far as customization goes. Ive run it for a few months though, and my battery life stayed the constant 12 hour drain cycle. Cyanogen is the g2's bread and butter, but UDroid is a good competitor for 2.3.3. Im using the sensation rom that rmk just ported. Just glitchy enough to be usable
It kinda depends on what you want in a rom. The best way to know what to flash is to try it out for yourself.

Which miui rom are u using?
im currently using MIUI_1.4.29_OsiMood v1.2 + WiFi Calling
but found that alarm clock would force close and alot of other apps would force close.
never tried miui, but have tried a sense rom, and immediately went back to CM7. even with CM problems at times, it has been the best overall. I did not like sense at all. Sense tho does have some nice widgets and i would like to have some of them on CM7. beyond that, ill stick with CM7, my phone only started acting out when i changed from CM to other roms so ill be staying with CM7 period. my phone had no problems until i changed to another rom. so i guess im more scared to try other roms now lol
Am for MIUI all the way... It's just a personal like thing you know.

MIUI is kinda laggy, i love the newly leaked rom fro tmobile, but somehow it won't recognize my router so i can't use wifi at home. so at this moment i will stick with cm7
Well, i like Sense rom as it link my FB,Twitter & contact with great Clock/Weather/Friendstream Widget. It's free (unlike Launcher Pro that u need to pay). once got the OC kernel, my Desire Z is superb!
Cyanogen doesnt have autofocus on picture/video?
I strangely doubt that and even if it doesnt, there is problably a alternative.

agreed... shouldn't really hate on other devs miui's. they both work great and ive had no issues with either.. i use both depending on what i feel like updating to..
im currently running ganii 4.22.. i don't wanna update and have no reason to latest build of miui.. change log doesn't interest me, and i don't wanna have my theme uncompatable or lose trackpad wake.
and miui has never lagged for me, and shown better battery life than cm7, cm7 kinda gets "boring" after a while.. just personal opinion thou.. i like it, but i like the customization of miui better. plus its alot easier to change themes.
idc for sense.. i havent used it for a while, but i always had some lag issues although im sure they are fixed now, and customization was minimal.. besides there sense layouts..
umm I'm on UD ROM 3.3.0 and i can truly say im pleased with my G2 at the moment, but I've always wanted to try a Miui Rom, but i don't know where to find it? can anyone provide some links and tuts?

MiUI Rom
Please check out that link!!
After trying numerous versions of all three, I usually stick with a custom version of CM7 or Stock GB roms. MIUI, while pretty, just doesn't do it for me. I don't like the layout. Sense is nice, but once again, I don't like how it is setup.
Ever since I flashed OsiMood MIUI, I've never looked back. I've tried CM, Ultimate Droid and MIUI and the latter just has everything that I want in my phone. I've only tried Sense on somebody elses phone but didn't like it one bit.
MIUI is not only visually stimulating, but also has a great UI and is very easy to theme. Everything about it is just great and I would recommend it before any other ROM.

Ever since I tried MIUI OsiMood 1.06.03 I never seen anything so good. I am comfortable with the iPhone UI and the fast blazing feel. However the battery life is a little off, so you might need to download "JuiceDefender" but everything else the keep improving so no need to worry, the battery life gets better and better every update. You guys should give it a spin. This rom is amazing!!!

Suggestions for a solid/stable ROM -> So many to choose from

Hey xda,
I just got a HTC G2, straight of ebay. I'll be following the tutorials posted to perma-root, CID unlock and S-off (not using visionary).
My only question and concern is, just because I am new to this phone, apart from CM being at the top, what other roms are stable? fast? and reliable? (decent battery life, not too many fc's etc)
I'm very much interested in something with HTC Sense, but meh, am willing to compromise if its too buggy. I've been reading here and there that there are tons of problems with scaling etc when phones switches from portrait/landscape etc.
Any suggestions will be great! Thank you for reading this far!!
Sorry, but you're going to have to do what everyone else does. Try them out and decide for yourself.
Hello and welcome!
My suggestions:
If you want sense, look up Virtuous 1.0.2 for froyo. If you want sense 3.0, look up Virtuous Fusion 1.0.0.
If you want stock android, look up Virtuous G-lite 1.0.2.
All of the above ROMs are by the same dev, are very stable and I have used all of the above. Currently using G-lite because as much as I love sense, it does take alot of memory.
As posted before, try the ROMs for about a week each and see how you like them. It's all personal preference.

I couldn't agree more; as far as ROMs go, rmk's are the most stable. CyanogenMod7 is actually extremely buggy still on the G2 (at least, when I used it a few weeks ago). While CM7 is probably the fastest ROM I've used, there are lots of little things that don't work correctly, and newer builds sometimes will break things that worked on older builds. I'm currently running G-Lite and I'm extremely satisfied.

Cm6.1.1 is nice and stable with decent battery life. It isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the myriad gingerbread releases but it gets the job done and can be tweaked to appear incredibly 'speedy' by using spare parts from the app market and Launcher Pro.
Ill throw my vote in there for Pyrorom. Its fast and is based off of CM7 if I remember correctly. I had tried a few, but as soon as I booted Pyro, I knew it was the one.

fwiw I have yet to find another ROM as stable as GingerVillain 1.5 with the 4.02.17 radio. Everything works perfect and I can get 18 hours battery life.
Tried Glite 1.02, super smooth, great ROM with the 4.30 radio BUT could not get the bluetooth to pair. Plus a few minor quirks with the camera flash not working. This is mostly due to the hw differences between the G2 and desire Z. I have a bell Can Desire Z

If you have a G2, go for Glite 1.02 otherwise GV 1.5 is stable and can't be beat ..yet imo

ICS with sense

Hello guys i am new here so excuse me if someone already wrote something about this.
is there any ice cream sandwitch rom with latest htc sense?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
None yet and there may not ever be. There will not be any drivers to hack to make it work as GB only got better because of the Desire source code. Note since that service will not see any more updates then we are out of luck.
Now someone may find a way but for now it's unlikely

Actually, there will definitely be a ICS ROM with sense. But you will have to wait. The reason being, HTC will launch new devices come this Q2 and Sense 4.0 is slated to be running on those devices. Such devices include the Ville, Edge, etc. So when those devices are released at the upcoming GSMA WMC on 27th February. You can expect a port a few days after that since there is bound to be someone posting the dump files and source code. This is how our sense 2.0 and 3.0 ROMs came about on our HD2s and its the only way. Custom building a ICS and Sense ROM from scratch is no easy task and like what chrisrj28 said above, it might not be possible for the devs.

It's good news, cant wait
I hope we must wait a little more, but for me, there are too many ICS roms without Sense in XDA.
I like Sense, so I prefer to wait as long as necessary, instead of install ics non sense plenty of bugs.
If I bought an HTC, I like to watch Sense in the screen, if not, I can have another device, Samsung, LG, Motorola.....
ICS without sense better then 2.3 with sense.

I think the biggest issue is a kernel to boot the sense ICS, and there is no doubt HD2 will be running sense ICS
On Sensation already..
I think we should request some of the HD2 chief chefs need to come together for us... it is here now on Sensation, working .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513055
IMHO hd2 can't stand ics with sense...too heavy!....that's for quad-core devices!! the 2.3 sense is too much for our "old" hardware, too....
even if our fantastic hd2 is the best phone in the world, his hardware is going to be old...I think that it's arrived at the end of its possibilities with ics...

Yeah initial hands on show that Sense 4.0/ICS do not perform as well as the big phones but it is adequate enough. And that is without the mods and customizations that Devs here are capable of.
The biggest issue will be drivers
Any news? Or I am missing something?
