Nice, good knowing we will still get updates for at least a little while.
Remember, when reading dates from SE, replace the day with the year, i.e.
March 19 2011 actually means March 11 2019
That way you'll get a much more accurate indication of when you can expect anything to happen
until 2019 there are 7-8 years.

we might be getting something like an better MT or less chances to root it idk
as some1 said in past posts, we're getting less features than we had
like fb and timescape integration in 1.6 i loved the way it was but now it's crappy (personal opinion)

If timescape could just load up everything say 5 times faster I'd actually probably find it useful. Until then i just keep wiping it from my phone.

The call log is loosing calls while your away, also the outgoing and incoming calls are not correctly saved in that list! This is a serious bug!

Ufff, I thought it is only me going crazy about that. But on other hand I know it is not such a big deal. I am not gonna spend every minute clicking "refresh" on xda website to see if update is available. We all need to relax, I had another confirmation from Vodafone UK, that 2.1 is coming in september.
Daily visits at the xda are sufficient I suppose, because when there will be 2.1 update, it will be all over the place

To be honest, I dont visit this forum so often after root is achieved, no news of any kind, only repeat 2.1 posts. I come here 2-3 times a week now, no cracked bootloader, no 2.1 with HD recording and nothing else I dont read.
I do give this site a daily check for few minutes, but no update isn't killing
I can still wait! Almost there. haha
I wanna crack the boot loader it's better for me than 2.1 update it important for custom roms

Sony's already said in a few more weeks. Just go enjoy life instead worrying about a minor software patch. The more you get excited over it, the bigger disappointment it will be. No need getting worked up about it.
What do you people really look forward to in 2.1? Just live wallpapers and 720p afaik...

2.1 is better than 1.6 in almost every respect, it's a big update and pretty much everthing has been improved. I have an x10 and a galaxy s, I am using the galaxy as my main phone at the moment because of the sucky 1.6 software on the x10, and the fact tjat most of the main apps I use are not available for 1.6.
However I really miss using the x10, the hardware is brilliant and when it gets updated I will probably go back to using the x10.
Its dissapointing that se are so slow at software updates as 2.1 really is a major update and a big improvment over 1.6.

I am still enjoying my handset very much. I am able to make calls on it, jump about the net, get some pretty cool apps all in all its working great. Camera is awesome. I am quite happy with it. Upgrade coming in a month.. its all good.

Why do you hate your x10 with 1.6?
I get the feeling the only reason you hate it is because you know that there is an update coming and are too impatient to wait. That and you expect 2.1 to turn the phone into something unbelievable which isn't going to happen.
It will improve some factors of the phone, but it isn't going to be anything majorly drastic.

People like you don't care if they do or don't because 'you're happy with what you got and you're a happy nancy' others like myself are considering selling the phone and getting a phone that has 2.1 and up and is more likley to get updated regularly.. Dude, it's like buying a sports car which has a speed limiter built in for no apparent reason. If SE want to tout their Xperia phones as being "the most open mobile phone brand on the market" then it's fair that we call it what it is.. bulls~t!
If the phone is perfectly capable to run Froyo (Flash, etc), then why would SE make such an ordeal out of it? Give it's users a bootloader, then let us choose if we want some homemade Froyo, or stay with SE's 1.6 (eventual 2.1) and customized apps. See, they are the ones creating this negative situation, not their users.

Just read this too, good news if they can keep to their word. Makes sense that they pulled it after the initial release to sort out the market issue, doesn't say about any other problems people have experienced but I guess they just want to get this out now and then tweak it more if necessary later.
We know the final build is done as they have released the japanese version with 2.2, so it must be about upgrading thats causing the problem. Just like people on here have said once they did a clean install it works pretty well, so they must want to make sure its ok when moving from eclair to froyo

I think it is the problem where the Market does not show up in app drawer or on screen after update.
They replied to the fb thread with
'Samsung UK Hi Davinder and Darren. We're releasing Froyo from the beginning of November and we're expecting all networks to have it by the end of November.'
November 8 samsung is releasing a 2.3 device and they will take till november end to release a froyo update wtf is wrong with samsung......

I can't really be bothered waiting for another 2.1 update no matter how big or small. It's still 2.1. I couldn't be more happy to see the XDA devs hard at work making 2.2+ for the x8. It's not SE who make the x8 a decent little mid-range phone.
Where phone manufacturers screw their customers, XDA devs pick up the remains and do a better job anyways... on their spare time

Two things can happen:
*New Android update which disables this.
*New EROM which disables bypassing and DRM killing on lower level:
a) new EROM, same AID - EROM is downgradable
b) new EROM, new AID - can't be downgraded at the moment
Basically, don't risk - don't update if any new update comes.

The good news now is, they are looking also with MT
SE gave up updating X8, XDA hasn't, and guess what, we got semi-MultiTouch, All from XDA
basically it was SE's strategy to stop updating the old xperia phones so that the new phones can take their place. guys just keep a track in the dev section for more updates in the custom rom arena.. devs r working hard & they r producing super results

Actually, if SE manages to get 2.3.3 running as well on our X10's as it's running on the arc, I don't really care. I wan't my phone to "just work", to cite iPhone users. Though I'll of course feel bad for the developers if SE decides to patch it, especially after seeing these major breakthroughs lately.
I don´t want my phone just to work. If the update from SE proves to be a crappy port from Arc count me out. I prefer to have a stable custom rom with little bugs than having a product that is just for show, that doesn´t perform nowhere near the Arc.
If SE is honest and gives us a fully working 2.3.3. very fluid and fast, then X10 will be fighting again with the big dogs.
If this update is just for patching holes and giving more locks then shame on you SE. If this happens and i buy another SE phone then shame on me. =) Although i can´t resist the looks of their models....
