Anyway to the OP:
I'd suggest just making a ROM based off what YOU want and than sharing it with the community. Its your ROM, make it to your liking and than share it.
1. I am making a rom called paczki rom
2. No ciq
3. Aosp bluetooth stacks (hopefully with help from the cm team)
4. Aosp lockscreen
5. Oc to 1.28ghz (not based on bakedsnackrom, based on twilight (tanimn, do I have permisson?))
6. No omadrm
7. Bonsai fs tweaks (hopefully)
8. Based on syndicate frozen (k0nane, do I have permission?)
9. No twlauncher
10. Nexus s livewallpapers.apk
11. Other possible nexus s files
12. Nexus s fingerprint
13. No sns service (samsung's own sync because they hate google)
14. No swype (flashable zip to add)
15. My modified red acs theme (you can download honeycomb theme if you want. I have a honeycomb device already so I dont need my phone to look like it)

5. Have fun... We're working on 1.3 right now. Twilight Zone is GPL-licensed, you can do what you want with it.
6. Good luck with that, it'll take as much work as CIQ to remove, if you're able to do it at all.
7. These are standard across all EXT4 ROMs including SRF.
8. I'm hesistant because it's enough of a problem ensuring themes and mods stay up to date. It could work.

I want a ROM that looks and feels like AOSP, but has features from other companies as add-ons and such to make the ROM complete. For example, multiple launchers - Sense, Stock, (even TW, possibly. I wouldn't recommend it), multiple keyboards - (Swype, Stock, HTC's, Droid's)
I think you get what I'm saying: Basically a ROM that features a little something from each major developer (if that's even possible), but still have it fast, smooth, ext4, OC @ 1.2 GHz. Basically a ROM that makes you never feel like you're not missing out on anything that your phone didn't come with.
I understand it's an optimistic view and likely impossible to completely fulfill, but that is what I'd like.
Just a minimalist, light-running ROM that runs silky smooth with great battery life. I'm pretty sure that's what a lot of people like actually. lol. Being reliable is also a huge priority for me. As well as simple upgrades to a next version of the rom.

Given the fact that Cyanogen ROMs are always based off ASOP builds, I highly doubt TouchWiz will be present for the Galaxy S Cyanogen ROM. Their alpha ROMs for the EVO 4G and Incredible doesn't have Sense UI, so I'm sure it'll be no different for the Galaxy S phones.
Ok maybe I should have said that we have the source but its missing parts. Blah blah . And even though cyan is based off the aosp they can bake anything in they want including some of the twiz stuff but this still isn't development so .........

Cyanogen has publicly expressed distaste for the non-vanilla Android roms. I'm sure anything that comes out with his name on it will be without Touchwiz/Sense/Motoblur.
I HIGHLY doubt CM 6 will ever have anything touchwiz based, it goes against the idea behind the project.

I actually like certain aspects of TouchWiz, mainly the ease of access to BT, WiFi, etc from the notification bar, but CM releases have always stayed away from any sort of manufacturer-developed modifications to Android like Sense, TouchWIz, Blur, etc. There are always ported builds using those UI's available and Im sure they will be eventually for the vibrant, but first we need a stock AOSP-based build.
The settings in the notification bar are awesome . If cm did use anything I hope its that.

Cyanogen & Crew do like borrowing bits and pieces, so the setting in the notification bar could wind up on a release eventually. But TW will most certainly be out. Thankfully.

i hope we get settings in the notification bar at least, especially the slide to adjust brightness, it's pure genius!
CM will not include TouchWiz because it is not open source software. The only part that Samsung has open sourced is the kernel, not any part of Android. They've provided the bits to allow other builds of Android to run on their phones (mostly), but not their version of Android.
Any chance we could see this ported to the fascinate?
Yes we will, it will be based off of Zenulator's build if I get his permission to do so. Just got to wait until 2.2 becomes available.
Then will try to tackle the HTC Ace build afterwards with help from Jamezelle but that will probably take awhile, dont know how Sense will function with the Samsung hardware as opposed to the Omap that Droid has based on Jamezelle's work.

MIUI will be pretty straightfoward, not any hardware integration like Sense is so its mainly pushing the framework over with a couple modifications. The main issue has been the language locale but they have fixed and patched that already.
Sense will take forever, probably will never get completed all the way unless a custom RIL is finished, everything else takes time.

I completely agree! I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with Sense yet doesn't buy HTC devices. Then asks devs to do the impossible I mean we all know how well porting it to the Droid went. I'm extremely excited to see all of the custom ROMS that the devs are going to come out with!
Incredible owner here.
Ive started following the fascinate section because my wife will be getting one soon and i cant wait to get my grubby hands on it. I love MIUI on my phone and would really like to put it on hers. Hope it gets done! Good luck Devs!!
I put MIUI on my spare Droid 1. There are some cool things about it with most of the cool features residing in the stock launcher. Therein lies the problem. The MIUI launcher is laggy even when I'm overclocked to 1.25ghz.
Now I'm not saying my fascinate can't handle it better with the hummingbird and extra ram BUT I will say there will need to be some optimization first. If I have to use launcher pro plus to get a smooth launcher with MIUI, I will pass.

MIUI < CM6... Kaos is doing CM6/CM7 already . End. The only thing cool about the miui rom for other phones is the pulldown toggles. CM like i said before, copied that a few weeks after the miui rom came out on the nexus one, then we had the toggles on CM so i went back. Miui rom has an option to turn down your cpu clock speed as a toggle, but i use setcpu to do that when i know im not going to use the phone like that i turn it down to 600, but i need 1.2 ghz kernel for there to be a 600 so right now i just use 800 all the time unless im gaming ... no reason to use the extra 200 mhz ... it just eats battery faster. and these kernels aren't oc'd and uv'd on froyo... so until then... 800/200 runs sweeeeet. keeps that 100 (where i get no signal) off my charts
MIUI is a more user friendly interface so some people may like it.

And here is my answer: There is no "best" ROM; it depends on the User's experience. In my opinion, I like SyndicateROM Frozen the most, but there are so many others too, like midNIGHT, Bonsai4All, UrbanFury, etc. There really is no "best" ROM.
Here's another forum with the same question to give you a little more insight:

If I were you I would start with syndicate rom. You will get a stable rom with support if something goes wrong. Midnight is great but the Dev sold his phone and won't be on here as much to help. It is based off of Bonsai.
Bonsai is not on here anymore. They started there own site that requires you to sign up and asks for a donation every time you download. I don't mind them asking but Bonsai has gotten out of hand.
I use midnight but am going back to syndicate as soon as K0nane and the rest of ACS release the newest ROM.
I used to use Frankenstein which is based on syndicate but his ROM is too new this time for me to try it. I wait for others to work out the bugs. LOL.
Samsung Epic with Midnight for now
EC05 Stock Plus. Stock experience with tweaks and bug fixes that make stock what it should be.
Viper Synergy 5.0
Viper Synergy 5.0 on ext4 with EC05 modem. BTW, Viperteam and ACS roms are the best but I prefer Viper. Viper Synergy 5.0 would be my recommendation.

It's not broken, you have bad data/cache/dalvik-cache/need to Fix Permissions/need to Odin to stock EC05, wipe and reflash/need to wipe SD card and perform the previous.
As for fixing permissions, how would I do that?
As for using Odin, I tried that a long time ago and my Epic would not connect to any computers, is there another way to get stock EC05?
I believe the ROM I was using before, Truly Epic ROM, was based off DK28.

I'm really not sure... I originally flashed the ROM coming from Truly Epic ROM v1.5, going to SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1.0, had some troubles, so factory reset, reinstalled Syndicate, had the phone app work off and on for a day, and now it's completely stopped working.
Sorry I'm not very good at this....
Odin to stock EC05, format your SD card, redownload the ROM, wipe 3x, flash.
What is the best and most stable (more importantly) ROM out there for the epic, based on user experience?
I like midnight 5.3 but its all preference if you want stability go with stock ec05 plus

then
modems and themes ( i recomend darkis nebula) then ur goona say i want to try it there is a whole sticky for that but 1 thing that was told to me DO NOT post on the devs side of this read look dont post chance r what u post has been anserwed here on the general section word to the wise but you can do what u want

Haven't found a really stable custom rom yet. I'm back on stock, forcing myself to wait for the Sprint Gingerbread update release.
As others have said, try some, the beauty about being rooted and having the ability to flash custom ROM's is you can change as often as you want. No harm in flashing one, trying it out for a day or 2, flashing something else for a couple days... experiment until you find the one that you personally like best. Enjoy
We only have eight roms find the one that works best for you lol. I've been on SFR since release and currently have it paired with th Genocide kernel with great results. Just make sure to enable journaling.

i run the same set up
and this is my quad
Here is a writeup of the setup I use on my phone, includfing the additional mods.
For me, the theme is the most important part, as most ROMs are pretty close to each other (except asop & cm7)
My fav setup on my Moment came from when I built my own collection from all the development pieces, so I figured I would start my collection for the Epic as well
EXT4 is a standard for me now, so after stock flashing to stock EC05, the next step is to add:
Clockwork Mod 3.0.0.6 or Clockwork Mod 3.0.2.5
Next is my base EC05 ROM, currently I am using SyndicateROM Frozen
I will probably stay with this ROM until CM7 is fixed, or a Frankenstein version is released
My FAV theme has finally been updated, here is the link to it: Honeycomb Fusion 1.1 / Addons!
Next is custom apps, I simply love the transparent MMS app, it is a themed versions of stock, and is good enough I don't need any other version: Transparent Messaging App Collection (EC05,EB13,DK28)
Then I found a transparent dialer in the thread for Erebos! Slick, Professional theme in post number 6
Another must have app, though it comes with the ROM, is WiFi Tether (ver 3.0-pre11) as it works to connect my Moment to my Epic via WiFi. Here is a link to the download page for the latest version
Added the ADW Ex Launcher, and while I still prefer LP, I am gonna keep it because the Black Glass 1.7 Theme makes my App drawer transparent!

Well, look at MIUI-Galnet, they HAD to move away from XDA because of their donation schemes (Something to do with new devices) I think with Oxygen & DevNull it's just an agreement with the CM7 team since Oxygen is the same just a different framework. Not sure really.
But, all in all, I prefer AOSP always have, it's what I miss about my Nexus S & One basicalle

Not entirely true, the reasons Adamg moved away from XDA were the lack of moderation here and the 'dumb' questions being posted here. Those are also the reasons most devs move away here...

Oxygen ROM on the Nexus-S is AWESOME. It is a pure vanilla stock Android style ROM, no bloatware, no carrier UI, but just the way Google meant Android to be. And it is crazy fast and smooth, with great battery life, can only imagine the Galaxy S2 would be out of this world with this ROM.

i totally agree! but my "problem" is, the SGS2 is just so freakin fast, i never had any speed issues on the stock rom and battery life isnt very different.... i WANT to use oxygen, but with this phone i would just get less features (no ukw-radio e.g.) :-/
(and if i dont want some crap/bloatware, i just remove/freeze it with titanium)
totally different story on other phones, Oxygen on my Desire was a total game-changer, just unbelievable what a difference it was compared to the stock htc rom!

Yes, this is the funny thing that I ended up using a Samsung ROM (Cognition) after trying all the other options simply because it is fast as well, but has all the extra features (most importantly - for me - the wide video format support and the hw accelerated browser). It seems that Samsung is the first manufacturer that finally starts to get the hang of cooking a functional and fast ROM .
I am using this rom and I think it is simple, fast, good on battery life. I will keep it for a while. Thanks to Adam and the poster.

I wonder... Is there a built-in RTL text support in this ROM?

Yeah, Adam G is in my opinion one of the best chefs out here. He just makes roms that work with almost no bugs.
+1 to AdamG and thalamus for their great work! Been using Oxygen on my desire for more than 8 months, not I have it on my s2 as well

Its customizable like CM7. You choose which ones are up there, their order, and color.
