I was just wondering what is the latest OTA update for the Desire Z in the UK?
I need to send my phone off to get some dust out from under the screen and thought that if I put on the latest update (rooted etc.) then they would not try and update to a version that I couldn't/is tricky to root.
Thanks for any help.

I have an unlocked Desire Z and for me, the latest OTA currently is 1.72.405.2
Related
today I sold my Desire and bought DHD.. nice gadget..
one of the first thing that I did was to check the software version.. it is 1.32.405.6
I know that OTA 1.72.405.3 was released so I checked for software updates and got "your phone is up to date" notification..
also on HTC website the 1.72.405.3 is not mentioned..
did HTC remove 1.72.405.3 update ?
yep, because it is very buggy =)
I see, thanks..
ok, hope they fix it soon..
They should so. Many of us have flashed it and some of us have Problems (not me BTW )

Here's my story, I'm getting my Nexus S probably by day after tommorow or maximum by wednesday, it's coming all the way from US. I've read the guides on updating to Android 2.3.3, but am still not sure, as this is my first Droid and i cant take risks as I cant get the Amoled version repaired in my country. I want someone to guide me personally on instant messenger as I upgrade to 2.3.3, can someone please volunteer to help me?
I think 2.3.3 is on the Nexus S when you buy it. If not, you will get an OTA update.
Updating to a newer version isn't that hard. If it's OTA you don't have to do anything at all.

Why not update via OTA for X arc?
I think there is OTA update for Arc.
But maybe this depends on place (CDA).
And maybe you must be update from .181 (when my NEO was .145 and check update on phone - before reflash fw .181 about few hours - it asked me update via PCC)
Confirmed:
- My friend's NEO has just updated from .145 -> .368 via OTA (76.6Mb)
with the same CDA 1247-0875
(waiting for root info ...)

Not for UK Generic there isn't.
my question is that
when will there be -finally- any OTA update for countries where still it's not available?
in close future? or maybe not at all?
after each restart, my phone date and time goes back to 1.1.1980
I'm really frustrated! wanna throw this -****ty full of bug- phone right in the garbage!!!!
i hope such funny bugs be fixed soon!
i flash my phone to LT15i_3.0.A.2.181_Generic_World.ftf and then updated to 2.3.3 build 145 and it's really a mess!

I don't know which on you're using, but I just checked for updates on UK Generic .184 and Global Generic .181, and both OTA updates are still for .145 and not .368. (Going by the download size which is ~40MB)
Lol all I get ota is 'could not connect to server'.

Just saw the update pop up on my phone. I am only on Wifi as well.
Did a quick google and this seems to be the updates with the new Homescreen (with themes!)
I won't pop the update as I am on an unlocked BL. Probs gonna wait till someone posts a flashable update.
Not available for me...
Nothing here.
Rogers/Canada.
Big Red is still blank as well.
Possibilty that OP got a phantom update message like many phones do.

I had one pop up yesterday when I was on wifi too, but I dismissed it since I just got my Play rooted. Wonder what it is. I'm on Verizon.

I think the op should do the update, and brick his phone so we can all get the new update Take one for the team lol
If theres a new update, i hope it comes with a button to disable auto brightness

Dont know how the OP has got notice of one tbh.
No update for Global Generic.
OP must have had the Update inception dream.
Got a UK unbranded Xperia Play here and no update........still. Seriously why is it taking so long for the update to be released for the Play when it's out for the Arc and Neo. Not impressed :|.
Hey guys I'm on Ics but I used to be in att 2.3.3 but this morning I got a text from att saying
AT&T IS PROVIDING A CRITICAL SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR YOUR DEVICE. Please follow screen prompts to install. Thank you.
This is the # I received the text from. 1111487600
PS- if this update is legit and it only is a modified version 2.3.3 then I reccomond upgrading to 2.3.4 using wotan server then upgrade to pvyparts teamstock until u get ur bootloader unlocked.

I got it too. Just ignored it. Would be cool for someone with a r800at to see if there is one and tell us about it.

I got it too, but Im on 4.0.3 KA13 at the moment. I thought AT&T was on 2.3.4 already so it must be a different 2.3.4 firmware like .62 maybe. I would like to know what FW it is also. But I don't feel like contacting AT&T right now.

What's the build number?
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
I just called at&t to get official info about this. They said it was build 3.0.1.B.0.285, which has been out since April. They could not tell me why they sent out a sms about it being a "CRITICAL UPDATE". I recommend NOT getting this update as it will remove root access and as far as I know there is currently no way to root .285.

It is indeed build 3.0.1.B.0.285. I was rooted before I ran the update, and I did not loose root access afterwords. Whether or not you can root after you update if you are not already rooted I do not know.
If you OTA the update you can keep root, but if you use pc companion you will loose root. OTA would not work for me so I had to use PCC, lost root, then had to flash back to .270. Sorry, I should have specified about OTA vs PCC.

You can't do OTA if you are "bootloader unlocked. And about critical-"It's *critical* that AT&T and Verizon come out of the stone age!! We are almost on Jelly Bean.lmao. They just push these out to catch one of us with unlocked bootloaders slipping to force us to buy a new phone.
