first of all will there be an update soon?
What will it change on the phone, and will it add new features?
Are we rooted and adeo people would be able to update?
I don't think many people on this board work for Motorola development and know when the updates are going to come and what they will address.

Depends on what you mean by "soon." I happen to know that there are developers working on Gingerbread for the Atrix, although I can't speak about specifics.
On the other hand, I don't know anything about the update mechanism. If past history is anything, rooted should be okay, but the Adeo users will be pretty much screwed unless somebody generates a custom update (since recent Motorola updates have run file checksums before applying patches).
Yes...there will be an update very very soon, sometime within the next 6 to 24 months, and the update will include Android 3.5 Jelly Bean and add a third core to the CPU as well.... Hows that for inside news?

So I have rooted my N1 and have cyanogen, when froyo comes out and I decide i want to try it out, do i have to upload the original rom and then upgrade? or what is the best way to do it? so i can go back to cyanogen if i decide i like it better? trying to keep it as simple as possible...Thanks!!!
You don't have to do anything. It will come out as an OTA, Cyanogen will get his hands on it immediately if not a few days before the release and it will be incorporated into his ROM. You will likely have an updated version from him based on Froyo including all his extra goodies before the stock OTA is even 100% rolled out [they usually do it over a couple days].

FroYo will be released in June.
Google I/O is next Wednesday.

2.2 will be leaked next Wednesday.
We will get it.
And laugh at people who haven't rooted.
P.S. Is it just me or does this question come up a lot? And probably will increase over the next few days/weeks...

From Adobe. Check this out:
http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2010/04/moving_forward.html
We look forward to delivering Flash Player 10.1 for Android smartphones as a public preview at Google I/O in May, and then a general release in June. From that point on, an ever increasing number and variety of powerful, Flash-enabled devices will be arriving which we hope will provide a great landscape of choice.

Flash requires 2.2, so a "general release" in June would mean that 2.2 would arrive sometime before then or concurrently.
Either way, we (rooters) will get both much, much earlier.
Thanks paul. I hope theres a ton of youtube videos that come from that convention.
I hope froyo has this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae01yz5z99E
Also if you get bored, watch that video over again with closed captoning, very funny =)
I doubt google is bundling Flash with the AOSP code. That would mean adobe is making flash open source(not happening) or google is locking up android(not happening). With all the talk about decoupling the android OS, the chances of something like a video player being bundled to the main OS update happening are very very very minute.
Flash will be a separate .apk, but the OS will need the frameworks to support it.

It irritates me because he states it as a blatant fact, where it should be said as something less direct. It is a possibility.. but it isn't exactly set in stone to happen - especially with how Google has been so closed about this release.
Froyo being leaked would be a god send, but I won't be holding my breath, simply to be suffocated at the end.
Why do you guys think flash requires 2.2? It comes incorporated into 2.2 but if you have 2.1 you will be able to install the apk and be good. Adobe said flash is coming to android 2.0 and above.

its going to suck having to load everything back on to my phone, since this isn't a cyanogen update we will have to wipe everything. then its going to suck when cyanogen comes out with his rom a week or 2 later then we will have to wipe everything again to load cyanogen rom

I credit this to the lack of good stickies in this forum. Ok maybe I should change the word "good" to "useful" stickies. But there really should be a good Q&A sticky to answer everybody's question so that they don't ask it again in a new thread. For example: how many posts have you seen recently that ask "how do I root my phone?".. not many (unless its people panicing because they think they've bricked their phone) and thats because of that sticky at the top. I'm sure Paul will put together a guide (someday) and it will be at the top in no time.
Mod edit: I will pass your suggestion to the responsible forum mods.

For speculation: SE said that they will support their product for 2 years after it launch, so therefore 2.2 should be in the works. If for any reason that they wont update to 2.2, it's because of hardware limitation (probably excuse that SE makes)

Walk lightly. Say anything that could be perceived as even slightly negative and pilote will lock the thread down quicker than you can say Jimmy crack corn!
You have to say things like: The X10 is the greatest out dated device ever made. And, how glad you are that SE stripped away all the great features of Android. They were just getting in the way of SE's perfect UI. And, than how glad you are that boot loader has been lock down so that no one is able to change a thing.
And there would have to be things like, who really wants 2.2 anyway? Heck, you can get that with any other phone on the market. Plus getting flash 10.1 would just make you waste too much time on the phone streaming videos. And, that would just kill the battery faster giving you less time to spend with your baby.
Plus there would be all those apps that you can't get with 2.1, and they would just burn up all your free memory.
The X10 is perfect and SE know exactly how to take care of her customers . Now who in their right minds would want to change from all of this? I only wish I could have paid more for mine!
whatever they do they just better not release a X10 HD model with 2.2 on there with multi-touch.
if they do, i'm never using a SE product ever again.
Getting now ICS 4.0.3, very very slow download.
What??? Same version? Good to know they tried so hard to fix the bugs...
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
I take it you're referring to the stock ROM? I wonder if the rollout has restarted or if you're just in a test region. Shame it's still 4.0.3 though, I would have thought they would have incremented the build if they have incorporated all the fixes required...
Ics 4.0.3 MR1
MR1 is the build that was originally pushed out and then paused...have Google fixed anything at all?
This is a pretty poor way to treat Nexus owners, by definition we're all either devs or early adopters yet they still fail to keep us up to date or even issue a statement about what the problem is for weeks.
The update server was turned back on yesterday for both the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S. So far nothing new has rolled out. The same versions that were on the server before they shut it down are what is being rolled out.
Same version or not, hopefully the 9020a's and 4g's of the world get something this time.
Do you have still "battery drain"
My idea is that they have pushed the OTA just because the OTA server is just one for both the nexus.....the different phone will recive they're own firmware as well.

Yeah if it was different in any way, it would have a different build number. The update that is rolling out OTA is EXACTLY the same as the one before it was paused.
Wouldn't it be nice if Google would bother to make a statement regarding weather they found a problem with 4.0.3 or not. Instead of just turning the servers back on and making everyone guess. It's not like they need a press conference, they could have just posted something/anything on G+ or Twitter.
Why choose to leave your customers in the dark constantly, especially as the main owners of the Nexus S are dev's for Google's Android community.
Sometimes you have to wonder what the **** Google is thinking.

Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes. It will even cook your Bacon and eggs Probably access your bank accounts as well (not that there's anything in it mind you).
Seriously, considering NOBODY has an official ICS Update via OTA, there is no possible way to tell you exactly what will happen.
I would say, 65% of all OTA Update users will have no issues, and not lose any data.
The other 35% will bork their tabs for whatever reason, and eventually lose all data, because...... they don't do backups.

Nope. I think Motorola is skipping ICS and JB. They are waiting to update our Atrix to Key Lime Pie. Please be patient. :highfive:
A source close to Moto informed me a WP7 firmware is about to roll out. Stay tuned.
I'm pretty sure that the Motorola Service Centre guy I talked to promised a Q4 release of BlackBerry 10 for the Atrix...
He said that the Blur version for that update would be 4.5.199 and that the update would bring LTE to our Atrixes The update is so magical, that guy said that our capacitive buttons will dissapear and the gesture pad along with the BlackBerry branding will take its place!
