audio/ video issues - Epic 4G General

I seem to be having problems every so often with the WINAMP not playing music, saying file not able to be played or even in QIK or Gallary, saying video cant be played, but if i do a reboot of phone ( which is PIA due to battery drain), they work again. I seem to remember this issue starting before i updated to FROYO EB13, but wanted to know if anyone else knew about it.
I was using SuperNovas rom over DK28 and to get to EB13, i actually just did a factory reset using ###786## and after entering MLS got a it. After that i went then signed into gmail account, got contacts back, then made sure to get a GPS lock ( outside only, inside house doesnt work) and then went to CWM and flashed the DEOXED version of EB13, I then flashed SUpernovas new rom and then did a ADvanced restore of Data. I never did an wipes in CWM but didnt have any info left after doing to Fact Reset. Anybody else use this method to get to EB13. Everything else works great, dont seem to have any other issues other that GPS lock inside house is still impossible.

come on nobody else is having this problem, somebody posted in the problem thread they had this issue. ANYONE, ANYONE, BUELLER, BUELLER!!

Problems Downloading from Market with Epic 4G

I bought my wife a new Epic 4G and she has been having problems downloading from the Marketplace. It seems to be a 3G,4G problem. Even Wifi doesn't start right away, yet does seem faster starting than 3g/4g. It does finally work after about 10 minutes. I know it is a phone problem, not a 3G/4g or Wifi problem, because I have an EVO, and at the same time downloading from the market with the EPIC, the EVO has no problems at all. I do notice once it has downloaded the first item, it seems fine for the rest of the day. The 3g was active before my wife went to the Market to download stuff. She had already received her email, so the connection was there.
Is anyone else having problems downloading from the Marketplace on 3G/4G or even wifi? If so, how do I fix the problem. I do have the latest update installed and it still didn't fix the problem.
The Epic seems to have some issue with logging into Gtalk randomly. I have experienced downloads that wouldn't start myself. Simply opening gtalk will log you in (most of the time) and the download will start almost instantly.

Missing Apps
Same issue here. Many Paid and free apps are missing. Bad deal since I need the phone for work and now I can't get my TouchDown Exchange Client working because it lost the key I paid for on the Market

For me it is not the issue where the download fails to start (though I have seen that too). This issue is that the apps are "not found" on the market place.
NOTE: I can see the apps from my EVO just fine, just not on the EPIC.
Evo is on froyo isn't it? Mabye they are protected apps and won't been seen unless you are running a phone with Froyo. Unless google hasnt registered I18 as a approved build yet.

Interesting... I notice that if I install(ed) a ROM (in this case Epic_Experience_v1.1.3) the apps are missing.
If I wipe the phone and restore a nandroid from a few days ago the apps show up.
Not sure what that means, but at least I can get back to using my email. Still learning all this ROM, Root, Kernel stuff.

I concur with these findings. I'm running Epic Experience 1.1.3 and if I search Market I can _not_ see such popular FREE apps such as Fandango, Where and Google Places Directory.
No idea why..

There have been several threads about this issue. Google has to take action in the Market to recognize the DI18 firmware as legitimate. (Perhaps Sprint has to take action to goose Google into taking action.)
This same problem occurred for several days after the last update.
See this post earlier at xda.
yeah this is pissing me off considering it all worked just a day ago...
I had my Epic rooted ever since I got it....the last few days it got sluggish and got bricked. I got it back to stock tonight and I can't upload apps either. I'm on the version ending in "7" when I went back to stock...if anyone can offer tips that is reading this would be greatly appreciated!!!
im getting annoyed by this GTalk sign in issue... not only I use gtalk alot but also market won't work without it.
I noticed I get signed off and loose connection almost every time I make/receive a call. Or sometimes just randomly.
Hey have you tried this?? I just did this below....
****UPDATE 4 hours later*******
so after screwing with everything I could possibly (clearing cache, resetting phone, rebooting countless times, etc) I logged out then back in to TALK using my gmail account and VOILA! everything downloaded.

[Q] Soundhound says mic locked?

Ok so this problem seems to be multi-connected now that I think about it. But here we go.
BTW I'm running Royal Ginger 1.5, I was running CM7 up to RC4 and two nightly's after RC4 before I switched. This problem was prevalent for most of those ROMS if not all. Fastboot wiped as we as fixed permissions PRIOR to asking this.
Anyhow it started off that when trying to use the Voice text in HTC_IME_MOD, I would get an error saying "There is a problem with the audio" also flashing the Genius Button zip when I opened the app it would show the blue screen for a few seconds then just close (no error, no FC, just close up right away.)
I thought these were 2 separate problems until last night. I went to use Soundhound for the first time in a while and was greeted with this, "Soundhound is unable to detect a working microphone. Another app may have locked the microphone. Please try restarting the phone." Restarting the phone does not fix this problem, thought pulling the battery for over 2 minutes does (for a very very short amount of time, and for everything the keyboard, Genius Button, and Soundhound.)
I have scoured the settings trying to find something about the microphone and I always come up with nothing so I really don't know what else to do. Also before anyone asks I've COMPLETELY cleaned everything, even tried the fast boot method. And also Royal Ginger self flashes/wipes everything as well so not only did I do it but Royal did it again right after.
And I'm not sure if this is related or not though I think it is (thought it was DSP Manager but I removed that app and still have issues) but when I plug a head phone jack into my phone then into my stereo to play music the phone STILL pays on speaker, just very very quietly. The only way to fix this problem is a reboot. The fact that this has fallowed me form CM7 to Royal Ginger and seems to happen when this mic issue happens tells me they have to be related.
Ok so this seems to be traced to the Genius button cuz without it installed SoundHound works great. That being said no one else has this issue?? I google searched the hell out of this and only found one post on googles forums from some guy complaining (more like b*tching) about it but no fix.

The same problem occurs on the Altek Leo A14 running Android 2.1. http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

Problems with Media

Here are some issues I've noticed with Media on my phone.
It happens completely at random.
Occasionally I will attempt to play a video file, or an MP3 file using the built-in software. The device will say "unable to play this file type". If I completely shut-down the phone, restart it, then I am able to play the files again. Like I said, happens completely at random, but I will usually have to reboot at least once every 3 or 4 days to resolve this issue.
Also, sometimes and also completely random, my ringtones will simply stop working. I still get a notification on the notification bar, and NoLed still gives me a notification, but no sound. Again, I have to reboot the phone to correct the issue.
Any ideas? Anyone else experience this?
My phone is the Bell 19000M on the latest factory Bell Froyo build with no root or lagfix or anything non-standard. I also noticed this behaviour on the last Froyo build (the one just before Christmas the bricked the phone).
TIA!

I've done this several times, each time I don't even restore a backup, rather I manually drag and drop necessary files back onto the device, and manually re-install applications as necessary. But I appreciate the reply.
I can confirm these issues on a i9000 european uk with jvk gingerbread.

Dammit, that's not good news!
This happens maybe once a week or even more infrequently. I had the media not playing twice in 6 weeks and going out of video, closing with task manager and then back in fixed it.
I had the ringtone bug last week and going in to sound and checking which sound was selected showed the circular icon was blue, sound played ok when I selected it again. On froyo, sometimes I could not select any ringtone that was my own, the blue icon would not work.
This happens very infrequently but it is annoying having missed calls with no ringtone played to alert.
I still have the wifi stopping working in perfect reception at times too.

When this happens on my phone, I had tried going into Task Manager to end all active applications, and clear Level1 and Leve2 memory, but it didn't seem to make a difference for me. Only rebooting the phone did.
I am also experiencing this issue.
I am running stock AT&T Captivate.
I have google music, double twist, and mypod installed as well.
Note: I also notice a problem when I unplug power or headphones it sometimes starts playing music.
Folks, I had the same problem with the media files (video and audio)...occasionally had to reboot to play anything on the phone....scoured the internet and found an obscure reference to the official Twitter application causing this issue (was buried deep inside a forum post). It didn't make much sense to me, but I had the application installed, so I decided to take a shot anyway. My media playback problems disappeared after uninstalling it. Haven't had to reboot my phone even once for this problem ever since. Thinking back, my issues started right about the time that I installed the application.
Anyway, I'm no expert so can't guarantee that the source of your problem is the same, but that is what was definitely causing my problem. I switched to a different third party twitter app, and all has been good ever since.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I am also with Bell Mobility and have an unmodified SGS with the latest firmware available to Bell customers

phone problems

Can anyone help with theses issues?
I have a couple programs that will not work on my lg g2 I have deleted cache, uninstalled, reinstalled and its still the same...they are espn scorecenter and grocery iq, I cant get any menus to pull up to login or anything (anyone else seeing this with this phone?)
I also can not get carbon helium on the computer to recognize this phone, I have installed drivers and done everything I know how, and nothing...I need a way to get my old apps and settings (I do not wan to play through plants vs zombies again just to get where I am) from the s4 to this phone.
I have had it lock up and I had to reset it by holding power button down for 8 seconds, anyone else see this? It was just sitting idle when it happened.
other then that, holy battery batman and great camera, really like what I see out of this phone!
(originally posted somewhere else, but I wanted to copy it over here to see if you guys could help)
I use ESPN ScoreCenter and haven't had any problems with that app on the G2. I also haven't had it lock up on me (although I've only had my G2 for about a week or so).
Are you using the stock rom? If so you could maybe try a factory reset to see if that fixes anything.

thanks for the reply, Yes I am 100% stock (first time in my android life)..I will try a factory reset to see if that helps will report back asap.
edit: okay so factory reset help with espn scorecenter, thats it grocery iq and helium still a no go, started playing around with it and in order for clockworkmod helium to work with this phone it has to be set as internet/ethernet on the usb connection, NOT any other option, then it seems to work, or is working as I am restoring stuff right now. will update again.

Reboots, can't call, no sound!

My nexus 6p has worked fine for months however I woke up yesterday morning to find it would not play a video on YouTube. Continuing to use it I noticed the following symptoms:
Wont play videos of any kind (youtube, Facebook etc)
Speakers do not work at all
phone hangs and will not connect during incoming or outgoing calls. The call may connect after several minutes of the screen hanging on the blue calling screen however speakers don't work anyway.
Phone restarts itself randomly
I have tried a hard reset from recovery, wiped cache, booted to safe mode etc with no change.
The phone is bone stock and has not been rooted.
Any suggestions?
At this point I'd try rooting and just flashing stock ROM, don't install anything and see where it goes. If it survives, then maybe it was a rogue app, but that's a lot for an app to do - so it could be a hardware issue.
Same problem here.

I've got the same problem, but it happens only on stock, when I've got Chroma installed, everything is fine. One time it happened under Chroma. I don't know what causes it. Reinstalling factory images or even 7.0 doesn't help. Custom kernels didn't bring any improvement either.
Maybe there are some music drivers or something.

It could be a driver thing. Didn't look like a device issue, as it'd be constant. I would go back to stock and note when it happens and then flash a custom ROM and repeat the steps, to perform a controlled test. While doing so, take logcats so Beans / others can review them.
Gone to the service becuase even on a custom ROM I couldn't get any sound. They said that it was a hardware problem (I don't agree but we will see).
