ok i have a rooted hero with the cyanogen mod ( looks like a droid) and i wanted to do a factory reset , so i went into seeting, privacy, factory reset; the phone reset and reboted and never finished. so i went into the recovery ( hold the down vol key and power on ) some thing happened? so im looking for someone who can direct me how to clear this thing out so i can sell it clean. please post me links and or info the best you can . thank you in advance.
if you plan to sell it, then factory reset on custom rom won't help I guess. You will need an official RUU.

did you try to load rom in the recovery img? This also happened to me (triangle with the android guy) and I thought I couldnt flash custom roms. For some reason the regular reboot to recovery mode gives me the triangle of death as you call it.
I got around this by loading in into bootloader mode then going to my command console, getting to my skd tools folder, and then typing
fastboot boot (whatever recovery img you used)
Then everything worked perfectly.
They are going to move this to General....
You did not follow the steps correctly it sounds.
Did you Load Amon Ras Recovery?
IF YES,
GO into Recovery
WIPE data
Flash Cyanogen's Latest ROM
Flash Google Apps available on Cyanogen's front page Post
In future ALWAYS nandroid Backup...
If you did not load Amon Ra's Recovery, you should go do this from fastboot.
I'll try to explain it to you:
1. The Bootloader is unlocked (you see the open lock at the first screen)? If you don't see the lock this is the first you should do or send it directly in for repair!
2. Then you have to flash the Recovery ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829) This you need to flash an update.zip Exact instalation guide is in the Link.
3. The ROM. If you want Stock then here you'll find it as an update.zip: http://android.modaco.com/content/g...-online-kitchen-optional-root-insecure-himem/
Choose one without includet Radio ROM!!! (See below why!)
4. Copy the ROM to your SD Card Root
5. Go into Recovery ROM (Vol Down with Power and then select recovery with the Volume button). There you select wipe and choose the first entry there (wipe data and cache)
6. Stay in Recovery ROM and selct Flash from update.zip and select the update.zip. Wait until everything is done and you are promted to reset your N1.
(DON'T MESS AROUND WITH THE RADIO ROM IF YOU DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING. DON'T UNDERSTAND ME WRONG, I THINK YOU HAVE NO GLIMPS WHAT YOU ARE DOING SO BETTER LEAVE THE RADIO ROM ALONE!!! YOU MAY BRICK (DESTROY) YOUR PHONE WITH IT!!! If you dont believe: http://android.modaco.com/content/g...odaco-com/303716/nexus-cannot-on-after-flash/)
7. There should be no 7. Everything should be fine by now.
Hope I could help.

DID YOU EVERY KNOW THAT UR MY HERRRRRRROOOOO
edit: i got it, im back to square one... thanks alot for all ur help
@ Buck Shot, this is a development forum... threads with question shud go in the general forum... these are making the development forum a mess....
I've searched, but can't find quite the answer I need.
My power button failed. I've unlocked the N1 and had CM running on it, but obviously I need to revert to stock before I send it back to HTC, who have said they'll take it.
I can't do anything in the Bootloader because the power button doesn't work.
I've tried restoring in Recovery mode but the original ROM isn't on there anymore.
How do I revert back and wipe all data? HELP!
Wrong forum but read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702966&highlight=power+button
Thanks mate... I saw that thread, but it doesn't say how to revert back to stock.
But, one of the posters sent his in with Froyo on it, so I guess I'll send it as is and hope I get a nice HTC person.
My dad gave me his Nexus 4 to look at the other day because his phone is running slow and using up power very quick . I saw it has been installed couple of suspicious apps like gaining root permission, mobile assistant etc, can't remember the names cause I did a factory reset immediately (already backup the data). Ok it should be clean but then I saw a update notification (it's still on 4.4.3) so go upgrade. The phone reboot into upgrading interface, but after a while it showed 'Error' with a dead robot. I can restart the phone and it's sill in 4.4.3 and ok to use but just can't upgrade. I am thinking those apps must have done something otherwise the phone should be good to upgrade after a factory reset. I am thinking some app may have started a upgrade but somehow never finished (not sure, just my feeling). BTW, my dad knows nothing regarding these apps, they were probably installed by my nephew when he was visiting my parents. Any idea?
If you've done a factory reset you might as well go one step further and unlock the bootloader and flash the 5.0.1 factory image and be done with it

I know I can go down that route (boot loader, root, customer image etc), but I am couple of years from doing that last time. So just want some really simple approach if possible. Something like boot into upgrade menu, then clear some cache etc or check some settings etc (I am just thinking based on my faint memory of previous experience). Of course if there is no such thing, then I will do as recommended. Thanks.
BTW, I did the factory reset from settings when the phone is operating not some recovery tool.
Flashing a factory image is the easiest thing to do...
1. Unlock the bootloader - http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/nexus-4-guide-unlock-bootloader-root-t2266654
2. Flash the factory image - Link: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam-lrx22c-factory-86c04af6.tgz Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312
3. Reboot

Have you messed around the stock system (bootloader, root etc)? I am asking because I don't know what has been done to my Dad's phone and since you got the same problem.

In the first step, in the Prerequisites -> 7. Fastboot binary (Put the file in <sdk_directory>/platform-tools)
The file appears to contain virus/trojan?
Probably a false positive but here's my files from my PC at work:

Trust me, they're not a virus

Thanks for that.
flashed new rom
Followed the link and finally flashed latest rom, fantastic! Thanks. I found the mskip’s toolkit alone is good enough for all the stuff (unlock bootloader, customer recovery, root, install and flash rom). It's much easier than I expected.
The reason I didn't link to toolkits is you're not learning anything by using them. If it goes went wrong, how would you have fixed it?
Better to learn it all now and then you have the knowledge
All,
When I worked on my wife's new phone, I did a full restore from Titanium backup and that caused a number of problems with the phone. For example, I wound up losing Gallery along the way. In an attempt to repair this mess, I followed the published factory reset procedure. However, this does not do a true factory reset - it only wipes SD card data and a small number of settings.
Is there some way to truly reset the phone to the state it was in when I took it out of its box? If so, please provide some guidance.
The phone is question is a Sprint phone, SM-G900P that originally had Android 4.4.4.
Thank you.
Few methods here
http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutoria...utton-combination-and-from-settings-menu.html
Q&A here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help
Detection - thank you. The methods shown are the one's that do not accomplish what I want - they simply reset certain parameters, but do not restore the original software. The Q&A mentions recoveries - I think that that may be what I am seeking.

Ah I see, in order to restore the original firmware, you'd need to use ODIN with a stock ROM & the PIT file, that will (should) completely delete and recreate all partitions, then reflash the original ROM
You flash them both in ODIN at the same time, PIT into PIT section, ROM into AP/PDA section
Flashing a custom recovery can also achieve this, but you will be left with a custom recovery, not stock, until you reflash a stock ROM
I'm on the same boat as you. We need to install Samsung's stock firmware.
Update firmware through Odin
Firmware update through Samsung
Install Kies
Upgrade firmware
Hope that it worked
Go check if it worked ( Volume up/ Home button/Power button )

Hello,
A colleague left the company and did not wipe his phone.
I couldn't get into the O/S to factory reset it so I did so via the boot menu.
Now it's asking for the password for a previously used account on the phone. Obviously, I don't have this.
Is there a way to get past this or alternatively, wiping the phone completely?
TIA
