Yes. Use z4root, which you can find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953

Was anyone else unable to root their myTouch 4G? I rooted my G2, but when I try to root my myTouch it simply does not work. It never recognizes the insmod /data/local/wpx.ko command so I can't do anything beyond that. G2 worked without a hitch.
I hope there's an easier root method soon.
Did you transfer the files via ADB, or Root Explorer?
I'm glad the devs got us root rather quickly, but personally I'm waiting for a decent ROM and easier method before attempting. I'm happy atm with temp root and freezing apps/bloatware so I don't really see a need to perma-root now. But to each their own, I hope the people who want to root now are able to do so with relative ease. Cheers.
I read in the G2 forum that Visionary is supposed to update tomorrow to include the G2 for Perma Root, might include us as well. Might be worth it to wait a couple days.
I recently rooted my phone, and I had all the apps for it but I guess it didnt root successfully. Can anyone help me out on a step by step to root it and i'll love you forever! please!
P.s. dont be rude im new to sony!
What rooting method did you use? Have you tried z4root from the adndroid market? It seems to be the best and simplest rooting method.

The best and easy way to root is the Z4root. Just install the app, run it, click on Permanent root and you are there after a reboot of the handset (automatic).
You can verify you are rooted successfully by looking for a app called "Superuser" with icon of a android skeleton kind of thing.
The next one is "super1clickroot" method which involves running a program in your PC and using it to root. Search for the above mentioned term and you can find the guide on how to do it.
Hope this helps.

What is your installed apps? Check the permission in your Superuser apps. All apps that need ROOT goes there.
Works great for my DX, however, I need to un-root it and I've tried several ways from other forums and I am not having any luck.
Does anyone know the procedure to un-root for GingerBreak?
I don't have Gingerbread installed either, I'm just running 2.2.1 - I don't know if this makes a difference when trying to un-root this. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I've been scouring trying to find a solution and I've had no luck yet. I've tried rooting then unrooting when the one-click program and that isn't helping me either. Any suggestions??
(If you're wondering I have no idea why I chose this way to root especially since I didn't have Gingerbread installed)
if you cant find a different way, doing an sbf and a factory reset will take you back to stock, unrooted, out of the box state.
If you install z4root, it should detect that you are rooted and give you the option to unroot. Have you tried that? And jw, why do you want to unroot?

z4root uses a different exploit then gingerbreak, so it will not be able to undo it.
I know downgrading is one way.. Someone came out with a way to connect a pc to iconia and push through adb, but cant seem to find the link..
I just unlocked a tmobile S5 for use on my At&t plan. Problem is, my wife was playing with my phone and managed to download a tmobile update but I stopped her before install. Is there any way to delete the file so my stops asking me to install? My phone is NOT rooted. I have a Mac and have not been able to get the root to work.
Help is hugely appreciated!

If this question is too difficult, can you recommend where I should inquire?

As long as the OTA is not installed your cool.
Rooting from Macs is a problem. Borrow a PC. Actually just download Towelroot to your phone and "Make it Rain"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784860
The OTA is stored in the /cache folder but you'll need root to get to it.
And Root Explorer to find it.
