When I try to make a new contact it says " Can not create a contact without a valid account" could it be because i deleted a bunch of contacts by clearing the data in "Contacts Storage". Any ideas on how to fix?
anyone? there must be something i can do
seems like you messed up with motoblur or something

I was wondering is there anyway i can delete duplicate contacts without doing them one by one? My contact get copied every time i flash my phone or install a theme, now i have like 7 of each contact.
Do it online on a computer(using gmail).
How?
How do i do that?
After you login into gmail, click on "Contacts" in the left nav, and then make sure "My Contacts" is selected. You can select contacts you want to delete and then click on "Delete Contacts" on the right side of the screen.
After this, next time the phone syncs, your contacts should be removed.
ok
ok thanks it worked
Hmm, so I just tried to delete a contact - (it was actually a contact I added via the barcode scanner - [email protected] in this forum);
Long pressed the contact, chose 'delete contact', answered yes to the question... and hmm... the contact is still there...
Is that a known bug?
Ok, just FYI - yes, there is a bug in the contacts - if your contact doesn't have a first/last name, but has an email - the contact will be named after his email in the contacts list;
When a contact is named after his email, you cannot delete it at all (you'll be able to try, but it just wont be deleted, no matter where you try it from).
To fix that, just give a name, any name, to that contact, and delete it.
I've had strange things like this happen where I delete a person's secondary email or address, and it comes right back.
Same goes for changing a "type" such as Phone (home/work/mobile/other/custom). It doesn't seem to stick and reverts back to the original title.
I think you need to delete the contact from your sim card first, then log on to google and erase it from there, then let the phone sync and goodbye contact.
bwahaahahhaahahahahahawhahahahaa
You could try deleteing it from Google Contacts instead?

New contact keep staying in "Local" and not sync to my Google account.
When I sync from "Setting > Account > ", it shows "Synced", but contact not actually there.
"Google Contact Sync" also has "Contact permission".
Can anyone help please?
Edit: new contact save to "[email protected]_local.com" - is this a spy or something?

When you create a new contact, at the top there is a drop down selection... It lets you choose: Google / Phone / SIM
Make sure "Google" is chosen. I was doing the same thing a few weeks ago after I upgraded and couldn't find any of my new contacts, then realized I was saving them to my SIM by default, and I had 7 new SIM contacts. I edited them and moved them to "Google" and they are now sync'd with my Google account.
So true. It's really hard to see it on top of the "Name"
Wondering, anyone got this problem of having multiple entries for the same persons in their phonebook. I only sync my contacts from Google Contacts, which only have less than 50 in it, but on my phone, there are over 100 contacts. Some person have 5 or 6 entries listed against them. When I delete one, all are gone including the one in Google (confirmed from Google Contacts website). It is NOT a case of having multiple entries of the same person as they are not repeated in Google Contacts. It is not a case of me having to merge contacts as there is nothing to merge. They are effectively the same entry repeating itself on the phone's phonebook.
I am using stock B09 ROM for A2017G with the stock Contacts app.
I noticed that those repeats are the ones which I have live chats on WhatsApp, BUT, it does not matter if I select WhasApp under "Contacts to display" or not.
Had the same problem in my davice. The fix for me was to clear data and cache for all the related apps such- phone, contact, contact sync, ext. Than re-sync the account.
As above - delete data for the "Contacts Storage" app and then re-sync.

I have the same problem, apparently caused by the "OnePlus Switch" app, and tried to do just that. But on my new OnePlus 6T I cannot find any "Contacts Storage" app. Deleting data of the "Contacts" app does not cut it.
What can I do?
