Hidden Awesome WebPlayer? - Xoom General

Do we have a webplayer app on the XOOM? I clicked a link on tweetdeck and was brought to a mobile looking Youtube page. I clicked the video and watching an HD looking YouTube video but it looked like something I have seen on Android, perhaps the HTC Web Player. Actually I think it was the webplayer that was included by default on the ViewSonic G-Tablet that played TVersity html streams in amazing detail.
I want to know what this player is because it looks friggin amazing.
The above picture is a video link. I don't know how else to embed it.

YouTube Downloading

Hi, i know the touch diamond has a you tube application, but does it allow you actually download the videos and watch it later without any connections. or is there any other application that will allow me to download youtube videos??
Thanks !
Well I know you can paste the youtube url of the video on a site like keepvid.com and it lets u dl the file in mp4 format, and use the built in video player to play it smoothest
No, the YouTube application does not allow one to save the videos to the device, though I can say it is a great little application. They seem to have kept it rather basic, yet done a great job with it.
You have access to what I believe is all the videos from YouTube, so not like with the iPhone where you had videos compressed and put into a format suitable for iPhone.
With the YouTube application, you can Bookmark your favourite videos, search videos, see lists of top rated, featured and most popular videos, you can send someone links to the videos by email (not really looked at that feature) and there is the setting where you can have it on fast download or higher quality streaming and then there is auto which I think is based upon your internet connection speed.
To watch the videos, there is no better application out there that I am aware of. I also use CorePlayer occasionally too.
As the previous poster mentioned, you can access YouTube through your web browser, take the URL, copy and paste it in at Keepvid.com and then save the file to your device that way.
Here is Youtube downloader found on the xda

[Q]Engadget android app (best Video Player for embedded Videos)

I love using the Engadget app to keep up with daily news, but no matter what I try I cannot watch the embedded videos within the stories.....
The ones that link to YouTube are fine as you can choose the browser or the YouTube app.
But their native videos don't play for me. I currently get the choice of viewing through double twist or streaming media player, both of which say "Sorry, this video cannot be played".
Anyone any idea what format these endgadget videos are in? And how I can get the engadget app to choose a player capable of playing them?
Moved to Themes and Apps. Also deleted your post in General.
Please only post one thread on the same subject, and try to post in the correct forum.
Thanks.

[Q] Mobo player

I just downloaded mobo player and the codec file for it. I wanted to play video's directly on the internet on my xoom. I thought downloading this would help me but video's are still not playing?
I do not understand the media directory thing is there anything I am missing.
I picked media directory to be my downloads in my Astro file. This is right out of the box. I have done nothing to unlock or root this device.
Can anyone please explain to me what I need to do to play video's from a web page on the net. For example I went to a site for Las Vegas wanted to play video of Terry Feder show would not play?
I'm pretty good at following directions. I understand PC very well just learning about cell phones and tablets.
I only downloaded the codec file because the video still wasn't playing.
I do not want to do anything that will mess up my xoom?
Sorry I think I should have posted this in questions forum.
Did you try tapping and holding the video you want to play then selecting soft decoding? You have to do that to a large majority of videos for the xoom.
Yes I did. When the video appears on the screen there is a small blue dice in the center with a ? on it. There seems to be lots of videos that won't play. Is there anything in the codec file that I need to change. I saw the soft decoding for one of the video extensions?
Just found something that says default using soft decoding in settings I checked it. Still no luck. You tube videos play fine
When I tap the video the screen turns light blue but nothing comes up and their are no options available to select.
you said your trying to play videos from a site. What site and what video format? Link?
Go to metacafe.com any video it does not work. That is just one of the sites. I cannot tell what the video format is? How can i see that. On the right hand bottom of my screen it says autoplay ON. I do not know if that is from Mobo app or something else.
took a spin around the world wide web and seems the videos on your site metacafe are FLV files.
go to the market.. install one of these in the list and see if any will work.
not sure which ones are compatible with the xoom so just go in and check on the tech details. better yet go there with your xoom so it will filter out which ones will work.
you can also just search "flv player" w/o quotes in the market and see what you come up with.
https://market.android.com/search?q=flv+player&so=1&c=apps
That site seems to use a bunch of different kinds of video. Hulu videos wont work, but the flash videos will if you install flash, obviously. Moboplayer is for mp4, avi, mpeg, and other types of video commonly not found streaming on websites.
Just called Motorola and figured out that Flash Player needed to be downloaded. Do I feel stupid. I thought it came with it and was on it when I got it. I then went back to the site and the video played.
Do you think MoboPlayer will interfere with anything on my tablet. Should I remove it?
Or should I leave it. Don't even know if it works on the xoom. It did not work to get the FLV file working that is supports. Any input would be appreciated.
keep it. it can play other movie formats.

amazing that an XDA member of a xoom tablet has not heard about moboplayer. thats wild.. rockplayer is made by the same dev that made moboplayer. mobo player is a really great video app! a must have..

[Q] Video Preview Widget?

Does anybody know of a widget available that would show the videos I have in a scroll-able stack? I think Netflix does this with the streaming movies (not positive), but I'd like to be able to browse through my video files from the launcher. I'm assuming if this widget existed it would come as part of a video player. Thanks.
Mizzu is awesome.

Looks perfect! Thanks. I browsed a bunch of video players on the Market, but never noticed that one.

what YouTube should be like!

heya.
I'm sure some of you listen to music on YouTube every now and then!
and I'm extremly sure 90% who did were freakin pissed that when you get an email or something else comes up and you 'minimize' youtube it stops!
wouldn't it be wonderfull if YouTube had a minimize and a floating function?
Lucky there is this app "Super Video" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gpc.myweb.hinet.net.PopupVideo
just use YouTube and share the video you wanna watch with super video!
works fine. hope Google will improve YouTube app soon!
checking out now! I have had this issue as well haha
I use to love that app, still do, it does what you say, but it used to be alot better with youtube, the controls are pain in the ass now, for example, if you open a video with this app, a video thats stored locally (avi, mkv....), thats how the controls were like up until a few updates ago, sooooo much easier.........i hope it comes back
Nice app though with the upcoming update, stock media player will be able to search youtube videos as well. But in the meantime, this could come in handy. :good:
