I traded my evo for an EPIC 4g. Why you ask? Simple Sprint is cheeping the EVO name with the EVO Sh!tless.... IT is not an evo at all. It has smaller screen that is not the premium screen sizes of 4" and above as google said phone with 4" and above screens are premium. It has a slower cpu and all. To me this is like going into a Jag dealer and seeing a Ford for sales right next to my Jag.... Yep it ticked me off so much I had to trade my evo...

I think he made the right decision regardless of the reason. The epic has a beautiful screen, great roms, and just got upgraded to 2.2 and 2.3 is around the corner either by official release or by CM 7. I'm just loving stock EB13 rooted right now.

So much this. The hardware keyboard is great, physically, too - the key skipping's no good, but thanks to mkasick that's much improved. Call me a fanboy, but the SAMOLED screen looks demonstrably better to me than just about anything else on the market. Even the iPhone's high-res IPS display can't match. I've seen several, they look... dull.

Cosign!!! So many times one of my iPhone 4 buddies will ask me about my phone and stare in amazement at my gorgeous screen with custom theme/icons/etc. It's as if they never thought that something could be better than their Apple product.. haha. If there's anything that will keep me attached to Samsung, it's their Super AMOLED screens. The S-AMOLED Plus screens are undoubtedly going to be a lot better in the future as well.

You traded your EVO because Sprint released the EVO Shift?? That might be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The name EVO is not synonomous with 4" screen and 1 ghz processor. Not to mention if you've played with the Shift you'd know its a really nice phone if you don't need the size of the EVO or a few other features.

evo once meant the best of the best for non keyboards. ]
epic is best of the best for keyboards
now sprint made the evo cheaper by having the evo sh!tless in the mix... Its a lesser device. google said only devices with 4" and above screens and at least 1ghz cpu are premium devices....
i played with the sh!tless and as the queen says.... we are not amused. It has a slower cpu and much much much much smaller screen the well wont get the ladies attention. With the Epic women always want your number....
TBH, I think Sprint/HTC are trying to live on the brand name of the original EVO by slapping the EVO name on the Shift, due to how well the original EVO sold. Sort of like how Verizon uses the Droid name on various devices on their network.

Well, I've heard of reports of the G2 (which has the same processor) going up to 1.6ghz and maintaining stability.
nice! 1.2+ ussually reboots the evos :-( it be nice to port the rom and kernel this thing uses but since it has a different processor dont think it would be much of a benefit.

Well see thats my question.
will the Evo 3d be a Lg phone or a htc phone?
It has that Samsung feel to it, but it's a pretty sweet phone. It feels solid and the little chin bit feels nice in the hand, but I'm not huge on the plastic myself. Nice to see it at least come to Sprint, I'm not entirely sold on these dual cores as I don't game or take in a whole lot of media on it sans music / random videos. 3D phones ... ehh, it should be the big phone of the 2 and I know the 3D toggle will be there ... and there is all that talk about 3D on displays that don't really do it justice ... blah blah blah. I'd consider the Nexus S, especially for just a year. Will be interesting to see what is what.
I'm itching to find out how much it'll sell for. I don't have any problems with selling my Evo to get my hands on a Nexus S on Sprint.

they will soon. probably at ctia. but their dual cores are inferior to the tegra/samsung dual cores. @ 1ghz vs 1ghz, htc/qualcomm's is about 25% slower. qualcomm is setting them at 1.2 ghz so it'll make up some of the gap but power consumption will shoot up plus the tegra 2 is 5nm smaller so tegra 2 is overall more power efficient. i'd personally want a tegra 2 but not much of a choice.

Its just hard to take Samsung serious when it comes to phones. I mean the rule the tv world but I just don't like how they support their phones(taking forever with updates/fixes). Very hard to believe the nexus s is a sammy product and not an HTC.

I tried the Thunderbolt for 2 weeks and returned it and this is why... its about twice as thick and ALOT heavier than the fascinate. Battery wouldn't last all day when I barely used it while my fascinate would easily last 2 days with little use or a full day of heavy use. The screen on the fascinate looks a lot better than the thunderbolt. Another thing I noticed was that the thunderbolt was always a lot hotter then my fascinate even when it was at its regular clock speed and was regularly at 110 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. So if anybody is thinking about getting the thunderbolt I hope I saved you the $35 restocking fee.
Nice to hear that the grass isn't always greener!

Kernels will help with the battery life, and I've used it and I don't mind the heaviness at all. The main reasons why I'm not bothering to upgrade to it is because the screen isn't as nice, and the GPU doesn't seem as good as the Fascinate's. To expand on that GPU point, I used Neocore on my sister's Thunderbolt and my Fascinate at the same time, and my Fascinate performed smoother and quicker, however the final FPS score was apparently better on the Thunderbolt's, which I found strange. However visuals don't lie, while benchmarks sometimes do (especially quadrants).
Overall, I'd just wait for a decent dual-core phone on Verizon, rather than upgrading to the Thunderbolt. Galaxy S II anyone?

I havent had 2 weeks worth of trial with it, but my Daughter just got one. As with every phone, it has it's ups and downs. I agree with most of the OP, but it has some positives. The front camera for one, the 4G for another.
It is like heaving around a brick though in size and weight compared to the Fascinate.
I am not switching to anything anytime soon, but I would still wait awhile to see what the community does with the customizations before i would choose anything...

That might be because the fascinate is framerate limited to ~60 fps, it won't go above 60, even if the GPU could run it faster
Battery life for me has been similar to my fascinate and it was worth switching just to be able to use data while I'm using the phone. My area won't have LTE for another year but I use a lot of data and getting an unlimited plan while verizon still offers them seemed prudent.
