Man would love to see Motorola follow up with the Motorola Droid X(square).
With dual 1Ghz
Double the current ram
improve resolution / color (Super AMOLED PLUS?)
32GB SD Card
4G LTE
I'll jump on that.
that would be an awesome phone I would jump on that also.

That would be one sexy device; however, I don't know if I want to stick with Verizon since they are switching over from their unlimited data plan to a tiered one this summer.

It will still have a locked bootloader so I'm staying away from it

I thought the whole bootloader thing has a work around and droid could be unlocked now? There words about Motorola not going to do the bootloader anymore. They didn't include it in the Xoom
Tiered data is the way everyone's going, unfortunately. T-Mobile and Sprint haven't announced it, but within a year or 18 months at the most, I'm sure they'll be following suit. Verizon still has by far the best network, so with Verizon I stay.
I'm definitely not buying another Motorola phone unless it has an unsigned bootloader, though. (or something else that allows true ROMs, like being able to turn it on/off ala the Xoom)

There is an X2, sort of
ahahah So there is an X2, not what I expected, oh well..

Pretty funny that they DOWNGRADE the SD card from a 16gb to a 2gb... which is a SUBSTANTIAL difference.... aaaannnd.... they keep the price the same!
Wonder what else is different besides the 16gb to 2gb sdcard drop
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Wow... 2GB.... WOW....
I can't believe they would downgrade like that.
For me, never getting another Motorola anything unless it's bootloader is not locked; however I'd consider an Atrix-like device.
I'm probably never leaving Verizon due their network being the best (after all, a phone needs to work as a phone above all). That being said, if I upgraded today, it would probably be a Thunderbolt.

I guess it could be an April Fools... but he said he got the Evo's Wimax radio to talk to Verizon's LTE.
Real or Fake?
Pretty much guaranteed to be a April Fools thing.

Yea, not surprised you didn't quite buy it... but really he just bought a Thunderbolt. We know it's about the same as the EVO but he's putting the EVO on hold to get LTE working.
Way too good to be true

I for one never doubted WiMax on CM, but this a little more un-trustful. For one, it's April Fools. That's the dead give-a-way. But then you have to consider that Verizon LTE operates under an entirely different frequency. Even more so, even if they could somehow get it to communicate, authentication has got be near impossible without a SIM card. And even if they got pass that, you wouldn't be able to connect without a Verizon data plan if it were even legal to spoof it.

Verizon does not use SIM cards. It uses a CDMA network just like Sprint does.

Oh wow, so HTC is actually listening to consumers? I didn't think companies did that anymore... Kudos HTC, very awesome.
HTC is just on fire these days huh? This is pretty awesome!
Just saw the Engadget article. This is why I love HTC over Motorola, Samsung, etc. They listen.
Lord only knows what the community will be able to do with a dual core unlocked device . Hopefully, sometime down the line, VZW will get one. My upgrade still isn't for another year anyway. So by then, I expect to see some pretty awesome stuff.
That is freaking awesome! I was thinking my next phone wouldn't be an HTC (which sucks cause I love my incredible) but its on now.

Would this mean that HTC phones would be able to be rooted easily or no root would be needed... I have no Dev skills that's why i ask..
Well you'll still need to root, but you can install new ROM's easily with an unlocked bootloader, and without a lot of painful work.
For us Incredible users, we've been pretty lucky to have the "unrevoked" program that automates the whole process- but a lot of other phones have to go through some pretty annoying and difficult steps in order to be able to flash ROM's.
I've also heard that Motorola has jumped on the unlocked bootloader bandwagon, after HTC announced they would be doing it.
All good news, big props to HTC for listening to customers and making the move.
Also another article if anyone is interested in reading more into the story:
http://www.softsailor.com/news/8094...ature-an-unlocked-bootloader-from-now-on.html
If HTC sticks to this policy and the carriers don't get all pissy with policies on rooted/rom'd phones on their network, I'll never buy another device unless it says HTC on it... Good move, HTC. The phones, after all, BELONG to us.
I love it.
That is fantastic news.

I hope to hell it doesn't go through. It would be bad for everyone including folks on Sprint, not to mention the people gobbled up from tmobile by ATT. There are still lawsuits going from when ATT and Cingular merged because of how ATT did the people that had Cingular. I just think prices would get higher and with less competition big red and ATT would nickel and dime everything even more than they do now and sprint wouldn't be able to hold out very long against 2 companies that would have 3 to 4 times the customers.

Wasn't it the other way around? Cingular bought out AT&T, AT&T disappeared then Cingular decided that AT&T was a more recognized name and changed their name to AT&T. If I'm wrong then sorry but it has been years.

AT&T managers are a waste of human space. They treat their own employees like crap and do worse to their customers. A cap on usage? really!? yeah AT&T, go suck it. lol.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that this isn't in anyone's best interest, this deal is probably going to go through. Big business owns the US government. So, what Big Business wants, Big Business gets.
I especially like the idea AT&T is pushing, that this will provide improved use of spectrum. This from the company that is already failing to make full use of the spectrum they already have access to. They have also done a miserable job of network expansion, even though network congestion has been a thorn in their side for years. I wonder what makes the executives at AT&T think that having a larger, more neglected network will be good for them or us?

Got my x10 in February of 2011. First smartphone. Started messing with custom ROMs as soon as I brought it home since it came with 1.6. I went through a period where I was flashing a new ROM every few days or at least a few times a month. Settled on the Prime X ROM from Oodie a while back. I hate stock firmware. This is what I have now.

My problem is that I get an upgrade in October, and I was very excited about it until I actually looked into the phones that are available through AT&T. I don't want to pay $200 for an upgrade so the S3 is out. I am trying to decide between Moto Atrix HD, HTC One X, Samsung GS2 Skyrocket, and Xperia Ion. My wife has the Ion already and I like the phone, but not really sure when there will be any custom roms for it. Atrix HD is looking pretty well locked down and same with the One X unless I can get an older one. Very frustrated right now and I guess I am just complaining so feel free to ignore me if you wish.
At this point I feel like just hanging onto my x10 for a while and seeing what develops. I will also be interested to see how my wife's Ion handles when it gets ICS.
Also thinking of just doing the upgrade, selling whatever phone I get, and buying a Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Google. Only problem with that phone I can see is the camera, but 5MP isn't really that bad and I can just get the wife to take all the pics when I am with her anyway.
Oh yeah, I also hate not having a removable battery.
nice story, well from the rom your running I'd say your better off with the htc one x(just what i think)
If you shop around you can find the Galaxy S3 for $99. Radio shack, Wire fly, Best buy etc. You can have them price match the other.

Hey man i reccomend just sticking with your x10 maybe try a little ice crema sandwhic goodness? id wait for the xperia s if i were you lots of developing for the ss,u and sola and acro s i tinkk!!
All good advice. Thanks for that.
I think part of it may be that when i got my x10, there was already a ton of development on this board. 2.1 was out already, then there was the excitement of waiting for the Gingerbread release and the ROMs that came after that. These are all new phones except for the Skyrocket. Maybe it will pick up once they are out longer.
I do like the One X. The board for that phone is weird though, in that there is all of this development, and then you have people with newer devices or who did the upgrade, whose phones have been locked down again. Only things I don't like about that phone are the lack of an SD card slot and non removable battery. Although when I think about it, I have 1GB (465MB usable) internal memory and an 8GB flash drive in my current phone and i don't feel like I have a lack of space now.
Anyway, i still have a month and a half before I can make a decision so who knows? I have been trying out some of the ICS ROMs on my wife's old x10 and if I find one I like I might flash it on my phone.
Originally Best Buy was talking about estimated ship dates of around 9/27. With all the delays, I knew it wouldn't ship around then, but I had hoped that it would ship by Friday.
I received the e-mail in the video this afternoon and after work I gave them a call. They couldn't give me any idea of when it would ship or if I was closer to the front of the line or the back of the line. The only reason I was trying to purchase through Best Buy was for points and sometimes even if they aren't running a special, they'll send you a $50 gift card. Happened with my S4.
Anyways, I think I'll sit this phone out. I'm sure it will be great. I guess it's Optimus G Pro until the next best phone after the N3.
Enjoy everyone. There's always a possibility that I will break down Friday!

If I'm not going to be one of the first then the phone is a scrub for me.
