Hi,
I can't get Twitter to launch on my HD2, all fine yesterday, defo using correct log-in details - i've tried 10 times, it starts to log-in then just returns to 'Twitter - tap to log-in' screen. Any ideas?
I did, i must admit, delete some files from my 'temp' folder, to make more room, so I'm guessing that is probably related, but any help appreciated.
Thanks
ok, sorry, after 2nd soft-reset it's magically back on and logged-in!
p.s. i got the HD2 at the same time as my wife got the i(m just like everyone else)phone and apart from the 50 million crap apps, that lose their novelty very quickly, the HD2 out performs it at every turn. We have the same network, I get coverage nearly everywhere, which is very helpful when using Google Maps when driving lost(!), and the other phone seems to struggle. Just thought you'd be happy to know...
hi all,
i have my TD2 now for some months and it already happened several times that it reboots automatically. Not just once, but several times in a row and after 4, 5 or more reboots it comes to the screen to input the pin...
I do not know how this is triggered but it is very annoying!
I use WM6.5 and some user programs like TD2 Tools (2d), MobiReg, NaviComputer, KeePass, Free42 Decimal,...
The TD2 Tools info screen gives: ROM 2.16.404., Manila 2.1.19193517.2, OS Kernel version 5.2.21869
Is this problem known to anybody? Looking forward to your advice!
Not sure what the cause could be but a hard reset mey be the only fix.
Hi,
After 13 months, I'm now getting this spontaneous rebooting for about 4 times on the trot. It can happen mid-call or just whilst it's sat syncing with my PC. The reboot always seems to happen about 10 seconds after Sense has started.
I am on Stock WWE HTC 2.53 and Radio as per below. I haven't changed anything recently but this started happening yesterday. I did think it was connected with my SD card but I've swapped it for another good one of different capacity and no go either.
I have also tried a hard reset. This didn't fix it either as the rebooting started again after about 10 mins. All I had done was reached setting up a partnership and syncing.
I'm worried that my hardware may be damaged, though I don't understand how.
Really worried now.
John
PS My Diamond2 has just rebooted 4 times whilst I type this and it's connected via USB.

I'd have to say that if you've hard reset and are on stock ROM, it would definitely indicate a hardware issue, as if something was triggering the soft reset button. Has the device gotten wet or anything?
Thanks for the reply. No not got wet or anything out of the ordinary. It started just last night whilst it had been sat for about 6 hours plugged into the HTC mains charger.
Looking at it more closely, it seems to happen 5 seconds after the data connection comes up. I guess Sense is checking the weather.
It has done 10 reboots now consecutively but every now and then it just seems to behave. This morning it was fine whilst I was out but it has been having rebooting episodes ever since I go home.
Oh well, I'll wait and see for a while and then panic. No money and the warranty won't be much use after a year........ Hmmmmm going to find the paperwork to check what the warranty actually is.

Try removing your cities in your weather tab and maybe play with your network settings in Phone\Menu\Band
Amazing! I was just about to post that switching to GSM only had stopped the rebooting.
This could only be temporary as I use a lot of HSDPA speed data. I decided to reflash the radio and now it seems fine on 3G. I'll keep an eye on it and report back in 24 hours.
I was thinking back to yesterday. There was a time when the wall charger was unplugged from the wall socket before removing the usb connector from my phone. Could that have caused a spike?
Thanks Bruce for taking an interest and the helpful advice.
Cheers
John
PS Cautiously happy now

It is possible but likely that caused a spike. Shouldn't matter which gets plugged in first, USB or charger.
Hopefully the issue is gone now.
Good luck.
Well, sadly, I spoke too soon.
It was fine all last evening with no reboots and frequent use on 3G.
This morning, after a sitting on standby for 9 hours, it started rebooting as soon as I turned it on to check email. Of course this was where it started downloading the weather as well as email etc.
The switch to GSM stopped it rebooting again, so I now need to confirm this is stable over time and then try further combinations of weather on/off and or older radios. Basically, I'll try anything as I have no choice right now and need the phone, email, web and satnav combination.
My wife has offered to sacrifice her shiny new Blackberry but she has finally joined the mobile email/web brigade and I don't want her to go back to a plain GSM phone. Plus, all my windows software would be written off before I'm ready to do that.
I'll report back if the situation improves although I think it's not going to get any better.
John
Just an update in case it helps anyone else.
On GSM with GPRS data I have had no reboots but shortly after switching to 3G, I end up in the reboot loop.
I have tried new ROM, new radio ROM and new T-Mobile settings. Still the same.
I shall now wait out my contract using GSM until December, at least I can use WiFi at home. I'll then change to something new........ Android, WP7 or even Blackberry!
Thanks for the help. 10ish years of MS pda's have been fun and I've enjoyed playing with ROMs and software but maybe it's time to switch.
John
So, you've flashed back to your stock ROM and with nothing else installed, the rebooting still occurs? Is the stcok ROM pulled from HTC via your S/N?
Progress????
Hi Bruce,
Yes, I have downloaded and tried the original 6.5 ROM and Radio from T-Mobile with the same rebooting problem. Furthermore, I tried some other ROMs before reverting back to the HTC 2.53 WWE - all with the rebooting problem on 3G.
HOWEVER, in doing all this, I noticed it rebooted specifically when the weather connected and downloaded an update. This would happen either manually or automatically.
I have now found that turning Weather updates to manual stops the rebooting UNLESS I actually do a manual update and then it will reboot.
Now, for completeness, I have reverted to the T-Mo 6.5 ROM again and proven that the reboot occurs when the weather is updated either automatically or manually.
This is so confusing as I am effectively replacing ALL the software with a new ROM and Radio but this problem now starts to feel like it is software. Does the weather update do something special on 3G? Something that browsing, Google Maps, email, stocks etc doe not do?
Well, at least I now have 3G...... just no Weather............. SOOOO confusing.
Thanks
John
That is strange. Weather would use the same connection type, just hits a different server.
Also, a typical weather error would only cause Manila to restart or fail to load, not the phone itself.
Flashing the stock ROM would initiate an MTTY Task 29 command that would wipe your flash drive eliminating the possiblility of reminence of a previous flash.
This has me baffled as well.
I found a couple of posts from other devices and it appears to be caused by a bad chip...
In my opinion this could be 'the beginning of the end' of the radio chip. My old Mio A701 did almost the same (not reboot but sometimes freeze) and finally it did not recognized any network and any sim-card; several ROMs tested.
Now it stays in my old car for GPS functions.
But maybe you are more lucky than me...

I've found similar on the Desire and HD2 forums too and was wondering if it could be related.
I'm still fine on 3G with no Weather refresh but checked this morning before going out, that actually performing a refresh did still cause a reboot.... and it did.
On arriving at my destination, 20 miles away, I tried the same refresh and it was fine.
At this point, I was starting to think it may be related to location services and my D2 is checking on it's whereabouts (with cell towers, etc) before downloading the local weather.
Interestingly, my home village, where ALL reboots have happened, does have much stronger signal now due to a very recent new cell tower. It was always 3G but now I get all bars all the time and higher bandwidth.
Now just come home, retested and it's fine! Auto Weather updates on 3G, Google Maps, etc...........
I'll keep a watch and let you know what happens next, I'm sure it's only a temporary respite!
Thanks again
John
Almost same problem with mine diamond2. Only most rarely. Sometimes it reboots once in week, sometimes once a day. I couldn't find any situation manually which causes reboot.

Since this episode of getting my Diamond2 back to working on 3G with no reboots and everything switched back on for downloading the weather etc, it has not rebooted once in 10 days.
I'm very happy that it seems to be behaving properly.
Anyway, just a quick update from a now happy again D2 user.
Cheers

I need some help.
For some reason now Slacker stops a song midway or 3/4th's of the way through the song for no reason whatsoever.
This happens every song on be it on Edge or 3g.
I dont think it's a data connection problem becasue Pandora works like it should and when Slacker stops the song.....you can still click on the album and lyrics/review still show up not to mention when you click skip I do NOT get a lost skip so it stays on 6.
Any help on what I should do cause I use it for working out and its annoying to have to stop skip stop skip stop skip.
I got the same issue. Started just about 2 weeks ago. Stops for no reason at all. I have emailed slacker but havent heard back.

IF you hear anything back please reply in the thread...I tried deleting and re-installing but still has same effect.
bump for answers because its getting annoying.
Not great news I am afraid. Here is the response I got from support:
"Response (Frank S.)
This is a known issue. We expect this to be fixed later on, though we don't have an estimated time of repair yet. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
If anybody figures anything out, Id appreciate it.
Thank you for the response...but known issue?
How would one go about having it work for more then 5 months to suddenly having this happen? I hope they fix it soon...and thank you for the response.
Yea I noticed it a little while back too, seems to be a problem with the new update that was implemented not too long ago. Hopefully they will fix this soon, time will tell.
How often is this happening to you guys? I haven't used Slacker too much for a couple months (just used it occasionally, and haven't noticed the issue). But I just tried it for an hour to test your issue. It only did this twice in an hour. Both times it was just with a few seconds left in the song, and skipping to the next song worked.

For me, it happens in every song, no matter the station, at around 1:20-2:30.

For me , it happens with every song NO MATTER the time of day.
I went from pandora to slacker and have been using slacker for maybe 5 months without any problem...NOW every song I play stops 3/4's of the way. No matter what I do to try to play the song it doesnt go and then I have to skip. When I do skip it doesnt take away a skip...like I will always be on 6 the entire time.
Happens with me as well. Noticed it about a month ago or so. I thought maybe it was a weak WiFi connection at first, but the phone wasn't dropping it when the song would stop. It seems to to only deduct your skip count when you legimately skip if a song is still playing and hasn't stopped on it's own. I've also noticed in some cases (songs for me sill stop randomly, sometimes after only 30 seconds) that they will go back to the beginning and then I can play them all the way through without issue.

I meant it stops between 1:20-2:30 in the song (as in after about 2 minutes of playing) lol it happens all day but it also takes away my skips...works flawlessly when i boot android and use the android version
How many of you with the Slacker issue are on ATT? At least one of you is, and one person on the Energy ROM with the same issue was also on ATT That guy commented it worked fine on WiFi, which is an indication it might be an issue with the ATT proxy. Have you disabled the ATT proxy?
Im on ATT using Cell Pro. How do you disable the proxy?
I am on stock T-mo.
I do agree with someone on here though...around the 2 minute or 2:30 the song stops havent had but the occasional song pass 3.
AT&T here as well, and it happens with me on WiFi. In fact, it seems to run smoother when on 3G data network, so it's definitely not a proxy issue I don't think...
I'm on AT&T and wifi works fine for me, the songs only stop when it's using 3G or edge networks

On the stock ROM, its at Start>Tools>Proxy Manager, but I don't know where it is on Cell Pro.
You can also search for the .cabs on these forums. The following is for the old Tilt, but it SHOULD work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1938129&postcount=13
But the posts above from a T-Mob user, and another that has the issue over WiFi seems to debunk my theory about the TT proxy. Although, IMO, its worth a try, as it doesn't hurt to disable the ATT proxy. The only "harm" it does is makes you unable to access some specific ATT internet services, like the Media Mall. But in my eyes, that's a "pro", not a "con"!

Downloaded the cab in your post and I actually got through 2 full songs! It's still playing so I'll report back if anything else happens. I admittedly didn't test it beforehand so Slacker could have coincidentally fixed something between the last time I tried and this time.
I wasn't really expecting it to work since I know a bunch of t-mobile users have the same problem since I've been monitoring a thread on the t-mobile forums but I'm glad I got seamless streaming again! Someone else post up if theirs is working with or without the proxy disable.
If it is from the proxy disable, then thanks redpoint
EDIT: Played for a half hour straight without a hiccup, so I soft reset the phone and tried again and seems to be working fine still. So for me, as far as I'm concerned, the problem no longer exists

Worked today for me as well so I think Slacker fixed something. I will hold judgment till Sunday night and then have someone close this thread.
Hi All,
Just tried buying an app from the marketplace and got this message:
"Can't get this info right now..."
I just spent about an hour searching various forums, and there seems to be a real difference of opinion about what this message means. Some posters suggest that it indicates a problem at MS's end (i.e. they're doing maintenance, something is wrong with Windows Live etc), and so the best thing to do is sit tight. Others seem to think it is user problem, and you need to reset the phone, clear the history in IE, turn on/off cookies in IE, etc... Given I didn't change anything on my phone and this just started happening for no obvious reason, I'm inclined to think its an MS problem. Anyone else dealt with this? Advice would be helpful as I don't want to waste time trying all the suggested solutions online...
I am having this same problem. It just started about 2 days ago. Saw all the same suggestions you mentioned, but none solved it.
I have not tried a factory reset, but it seems like an MS server issue.
I ended up doing a factory reset, but that didn't help. I think the problem is that I was using a US-based live account in Canada, and somehow the phone decided to lock me out of the marketplace due to my non-US IP address. Ended up resetting the phone again and then setting it up with a Canada based live account. Now everything is fine (although I have no access to the Zune marketplace). I wonder if the Feb update did something...
May also have something to do with the purchase validation cookie that sits on the phone...
Is anyone else still having problems downloading apps from the marketplace? When I tap install button I keep getting the message that says "Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while" Is anyone else having this same issue today? This is the first time I've ever had issues with the marketplace, I've had this phone for almost a month. Seems like it's on Microsoft's end, any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Seem to be other people on the XDA main forums having the problem...
Well whatever was causing the problem seems to have been fixed. I'm now able to download apps again =)
I have no idea why this keeps doing this but this is a brand new (TODAY) phone, it has been rooted which may be the reason, havent tried a different WIFI network because i havent got access to it, but every single app from MLB at Bat, Facebook Messenger, Twitter, YouTube, etc. All of these will stop connecting to whatever i may be doing, whether its searching for a video, searching for a website, searching for anything or trying to watch something it will drop for about 5seconds before it then refreshes itself and loads the page or sends the message. (NOTE MY INTERNET IS NOT BAD), 150Mbps download, 10Mbps upload, very good internet speeds and other devices do not do this. It doesnt do it after everything single operation it just does it every 5minutes or so.
Hopefully someone can pinpoint this problem and help me, Thank you
Bump, please someone help!
not sure if anyone can help me, ive even tried restoring to factory settings and it just doesnt seem to work. Must be a hardware issue but since its already been rooted i bet im not available for a replacement? even though ive only had it one day
Samsung have a fuse for Root. If You rooted badly then fuse Fried something inside.
Nah it's miraculously fixed itself now, I'm guessing maybe it was the Internet connection but whatever happened it's fixed on its own. I rooted correctly lol
