Visual Voicemail - Hero CDMA General

have we gotten any new updates for it???

there was only one update that I know of, maybe a month ago? anyway it sucked, had some extra adds or some crap I can't remember, so I went back to the old one, it still works fine.

Does the old one work with CM7?

I'm wondering if there's been any recent updates after the last one?.....

Yes, theres instructions in the aospcm wiki.
sent from my hero, which no longer sucks ass

I know 99% of users have had success with wiki method #2 (install the apk, and use TB to restore data only) but for me that only worked for the 1st time I went to the vvm app. Subsequent attepts and reinstalls I get an error that simply states "cannot play message". I'm not too concerned and haven't really tried to find a solution. But I will try again after I flash the newest ROM update. I'm ashamed to admit I'm currently running AOSPCMod dated Feb 5. What can I say, I've been busy! Runs good though, after applying the GPS tweaks that were solved around Feb 18. But Ive got time now so I'm ready to see if the last month of updates will have me printing money...they did finally get that merged, right?!

I'm in the same boat. I used method two, and I can compose fine, but playing messages is a no go. The only time it worked fully was when the first batch of CM7's came out.

So when I try method 2, it does not give me an option to restore after I install vvm...Pretty new to all this jive so any help would be appreciated

Titanium backup works great

Method # 2 worked for me...
just make sure to follow steps as indicated

Followed the directions on the wiki for method #2. I tested the functionality composing and sending a vvm to myself. Works flawlessly. However, when anyone else leaves a message I can see it but I get the error " Unable to play message."
MY problems ditto post # 9796 in [ROM] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.3 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [03/10/2011] thread.

I don't know. I followed that wiki to the letter, and still get what you're getting. We may be the unlucky few that the voicemail refuses to work.

When on CM6 I flashed vvm apk and had no issues. Granted, going to GB is a big switch but WHY would a similar fix (such as in the AOSP wiki) not work? Can it be explained in a nutshell?
Thank you to anyone that can humor my curiosities.

I haven't use aosp but i try method 2 on RC2 and currently running on Nightlies #17 is working fine with no problems.
might be an issue with the rom ? not sure.

Thanks for that.
See previous post, I get "Unable to play message" notification but have found this to work, although rather cumbersome to get a VM.
It's not clean and obviously not optimal for checking VM.
Open VM app > Menu > Settings > Personalize voicemail > OK > 1
Does this work for anyone else? If so, what can be done to alleviate pushing buttons monotonously?

Don't know. I'll give that a shot once I'm on break.

Just wanted to say that I flashed 17 today, and it finally worked!! Woohoo!!! I love the nightlies; always making my hero better, and better.

Well, use the latest(first in list) htc-msm-linux. After the download completes, copy and rename zImage**** to zImage(replace the old zImage) the modules don't need rename, just delete the old modules. I've already posted that in the gingerbread thread, you can read it, take a look at the video, you will like it, I like it
more than FROYO X (I'm talking about the Gingerbread)

Gingerbread is much better than froyo in general, but as I say there is a lot of work to do (the developers)!

I'll tell you how I'm doing it. I've just downloaded the gingerbread image, I used to boot it
with the pack(haret+startup) of froyo x, and I've updated the kernel, and modules ofcourse, and rootfs optionally! And it works for me.
BTW, try to put the device into 'Airplane Mode' and tell us if it freezes.
I'm really tired now, I'm coming back from work, so bye!

Hey TJ, glad to be of help.
This is great! Thanks so much, the only question I have is, do you know why messenger will force close when trying to get or send video or files?
Was trying to send a video and it crashed and some audio files for ringtones and it crashes.

You are right, I had not notice because I only tested MMS with pictures. Thanks for the feedback... I will look into it.
Edit: I did some testing and it seems to only crash in GB ROMs. The modded Mms.apk is from a Froyo ROM which leads me to think that it is a compatibility issue of some sort. Which ROM are you using?
hey thanks a lot endoki..i was a lil frustrated wen my mms wasnt working but thanks to u and ur research im glad that i can see pics and stuff..also same problem as others cant get audio files and video to download cant recive any luck on wats going on with that??? thanks again
!!!!!Wow, I was/am so excited to see this in the thread list!!!!!
Does this fix the data dropping issue too or just the MMS?
Looks like long SMS still isn't working, I'll just switch to handsent for that I suppose.
Is there a way to keep the gingerbread mms.apk if we decide we care more for the long sms functionality? Or could you possibly add it as an attachment?
Testing the data now..if it holds out I'll definitely be buying you a cup of Joe
Nope, there it went..I guess this is just for the MMS..do you have any ideas about the data dropping issue?
I'm running GSB 2.6, and data drop is rare for me. I have a pretty clean set up, not extra scripts or flashes aside from GSB, Gapps, and MetrOFF. On the rare occasion I do notice a data drop, enabling and disabling Airplane mode fixes it quickly.

You are much welcome! The modded Mms.apk included in the fix is from a Froyo ROM. I am thinking it is a compatibility issue with GB that is causing it to crash when loading audio/video files... this is pure speculation right now as I have yet to decompile it and explore further. I think it is time to mod a GB Mms.apk and make two separate fixes; one for GB and one for Froyo.

Sorry to bring your hopes down, but nothing yet on the data drop issue. The fix is just for MMS.
About the long SMS, I am looking into modding a GB Mms.apk and making two separate fixes; one for each ROM type, aiming to solve both, long SMS and audio/video loading issues. Meanwhile, I can make a version of the fix that does not include the Mms.apk if you guys want it.

[ROM][Aug14 2012] Blackout ICS Incredible v3.0.0 FULLY WORKING!!! [4.0.4][Sense 3.6]

i hope ppl dont mind me using this post as a sounding board for the ICS Blackout incredible rom, but i have no option as i currently cannot post in the android dev thread due to lack of 10 posts
this rom is working extremely well for a daily rom, but just noticed a few issues:
1) once the default wallpaper is changed, the wallpaper ceases to scroll as you scroll through the home screens
2) Battery monitor widget reporting wrong mA differences...tried all settings in the widget to no avail...
3) could someone please tell me what rosie scroll does?
and thanks to the ICS team once again
cheers!
:good:
I've been testing this ROM for 2 days now and I haven't had a bug yet. Works perfectly for me, I love it. I had been using puse ICS ROMS lately, but now I'm back to Sense, the best UI out there.
I noticed people had problems installing this rom. When I installed it, I used ARHD superwipe to fully clean out any residues and it installed perfectly. The only bugs I've found so far is that the WIFI portable hotspot did not turn on properly (not password protected) and it would not allow me to turn the WIFI back on unless I rebooted. It's ok in smoothness, not quite like ARHD 6.33 running TSF shell. I did use their blackout tweaks to smooth the rosie but again, you can see a bit of lag when it came to switching applications. They also forgot to remove HTC logging which I froze with Titanium backup.

Well actually I tried exactly the same approach.
Only I ended up with a black unresponsive screen right after the first "htc splash"
Gave it 5 min. Nothing whatsoever happened.
Went back to ARHD 7.0.4 without a hitch.
Dunno - the installation itself ran flawlessly :what:

I also made sure when I downloaded the rom, the MD5 checksums matched. When I was downloading Virtuous Infinity, one link provided a bad MD5. I believe I waited a while before the whole rom booted but I did see the splash screen of Blackout after HTC's. This was coming from 4EXT and not Clockwork since I believe 4EXT is much better.

This may or may not help your problem. But I found this reply from one of developers interesting about a install script problem. (can't post links yet, best I can do)

"mount: failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p26 at /data: Device or resource busy"
and
"error: file_write: write: I/O error
Installer Error (Status 1)"
Now what can the cause be?
Oh, I forgot: have checked the md5sum and was correct (I mean throughout recovery on the SD after the zip was copied to the SD...
Again: sorry but not allowed to post at the ROM's thread...
Theres a known bug in the aroma script. Youll have to select "perform a full wipe" in aroma and not tick the reboot checkbox that shows up when flashing is done. Then all should be fine
Script will be fixed in future releases. Sorry for the inconvenience

i'm surprised to read that so many people are facing a problem installing the rom in the way specified by the devs! i followed the exact instructions given by the dev team and it seems to work just fine. i guess that a previous post mentioned a corrupt file download from one of the earlier mirrors.
i had clockworkmod recovery 5.0.2.0 installed to help me load the rom.
i just hope the dev team of blackout reads this thread too, so that less fortunate people like us also get their voices heard!
Everything is ok now. I just activated the choice gsm / wcdma, the cellular network is once again functional. Also the option of blackout tweaks, it works only from the application menu. This is the most stable of Roms in Ics and sense.

Next time i try, it´ll get ½ hour to make up it´s mind!
That has got to be enough. Will try downloading & MD5 check again.
Oh - to thread in general: I chose "sense theme" Did everyone else do differently?

Just wanted to thank everyone who worked on this rom. Everything is working great for me!
Anyone else with an Inspire on ATT with working MMS care to share their APN? I cant send or receive them.

I'm sure it looks great but you will run into a lot of sluggishness/slowness. I did the following to clear up this slowness:
- go into daemon control in apps drawer
- go to the cpufreq tab at the top
- change governor to smartassV2
- hit Apply button
I tested this and it clears up the sluggishness/slowness a lot have seen with this rom. You can definitely tell if you play a mp4 video without it and then with it on. If you use the OCD tab where it has min and max wake/sleep values with smartassV2 governor, it doesn't give the best results of smoothness like the method above.
You can also use SuperCharger_Starter_Kit_RC12.zip & V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-Update9_RC10.sh.pdf script to set the min/max memory tweaks that the whole system keeps free. This script requires you to reboot every time a change is made. You can however use an app called Autokiller memory which does the same without rebooting your phone.
Hopefully they will fix this daemon issue along with a lot of other issues in the next build. Again, thanks to the Blackout team for a great effort.

CyanogenMod on XT1031 (Boost Mobile) With Working MMS!

I managed to find an MMS fix for the XT1031! Tested and confirmed working by myself.
Download the ZIP here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sswq6aw5uhcfeyu/XT1031-MMS-FIX.zip
Flash after flashing CM, and voila! Working MMS! This should also work with other CM-based ROMs (maybe AOSP too?) but I can neither confirm nor deny it, seeing as how I have only tried the fix on CM11 thus far.
Enjoy!
Be sure to jump over to Shad Ryshad's G+ and hit +1 - if it weren't for his post, I would have never known about it:

Thanks
Thanks for this. Id I decide to unlock the bootloader on this phone I will be sure to give this a try.

You're welcome - I have been banging my head over this since day one and I was very pleased to see that XT1031 users weren't completely screwed in regards to MMS on CM11.

I use Hangouts as my default messaging app, and it works with that, so it should work with messager.apk.
The only caveat is when you send a mms/sms, a toast message will pop up saying insert sim, but the mms/sms will send without hassle.

Coo, is this an apns-conf.xml & build. Prop mod?
My boys over at Androidforums have made a fix as well that edits both of those files. There currently trying to get it working for all Roms that are out as of now.
This fix gives you that toast msg as well when using hangouts if I remember correctly.

It looks to me that this .ZIP modifies the build.prop to add Boost Mobile APN fixes.
Life saver
Thank you a thousand times for this!
I recently flashed to cyanogenmod 11 and had the typical APN problems people have been experiencing. This FIXED the problem!
Simply AWESOME!

Phone rings when called but unable to answer

Hopefully this is the correct forum, if not please let me know.
I have tried a couple custom stock XT1575 ROMs. Everything installs great except when my phone is called, the dialer
won't open. I hear my phone ring or vibrate depending on what it is using, just nothing comes up to allow me to answer
it. The latest custom stock ROM I installed today is moto_x_pure_edition_custom_stock_x1575_mphs24.107-58-1_v1-odexed.
Has this happened to anyone else, is it a known problem with the custom stock ROMs? Any help is appreciated. I can't
use the phone so it's just sitting in a corner.
Have you tried puretrue rom . I have flashed 3 roms 2 custom stock Rom and one nexus rom.But never faced this issue . Maybe clean install will help you.

Every time I've installed the ROM, everything was wiped first, including the install I did earlier today.
I've tried a few other ROMs from here, didn't quite like them (not sure if the one you mentioned is one I tried) so wanted to use the custom default Motorola ROM which I liked. They are rooted and have super user. If you know the link to that ROM you mentioned, I don't mind looking into it. Thanks
Go to Settings > Apps > Gear icon > Default Apps > Select 'Telephone' for Phone
Can't believe this is still a thing! This is an old *ss small issue which has been discussed over and over again!
Now with this Help thread open I hope people will learn!

Yes, I understand it's been around a while. I've searched for answers and all the suggestions have not made a difference for me. I have also searched a little on here using different terms but could not find anything either. If you know the answer, can you assist? I understand you may have seen this a few times but not everyone has, like me. I just want to know the fix, is that so bad?

I've already attempted that, didn't help. Tried a new dialer app, didn't make a difference either. Made sure it was the default and that notifications were on for the app also. Thanks

Your described issue seems just the usual "no default phone app selected" , which solution is to just set one. If something else is going on I can't help, I've never encountered other root issues to this (not by experience not by reading). Sorry!
But we could go through this and try troubleshooting.
You are using a custom stock so probably already got root permission.
1) Install logcat or matlog
2) start recording and call your phone right away using a second phone while leaving the screen on
(try upping the screen time to 5 minutes let's say, this way there is no loginfo we are not interested in there beside the call intent)
3) After that, hangup and stop recording the log then share a link to the file here (file ! Don't paste in pls)
Let's hope there is a debug warning or error which will tell us what's actually going on!
On the other side of thing, you do have a XT1575 right ? Or you are using XT1575 Ron on XT1572 ? Not a biggie but quit relevant for modem file!
In the morning I'll give it a look, now I'm heading to bed (2AM here)

Hope you have already solved this problem. But if you are still facing same issue then this is perfect rom if you want to stay close to stock.

Thanks, just got home from work myself. I am using the XT1575. The default phone app is chosen. I'll see what I can
do about the logging suggestions you mentioned. I may not get to that today as I have a few things to do before
heading into work.

Thank you, I'll download now.
Thanks for the assist all of you. I decided to install the TruPureXMM-2.9 ROM and so far I'm liking it. It has a few quirks but the dialer works
from the get go which is the main thing. Those ROMs from the other Moto style installs must have something inherently wrong designed
in them not to work right from the start.
