Hi ya maties,
iv picked up a hd2 that turns on but no touch screen nor the buttons on the bottom work,
so i took it apart and first off, noticed that there was sticky tape on the digitizer,
and realized someone has tried to fix this, what my question is, i have included a photo of the back of the LCD screen and the connecter to the digitizer,
am i right in thinking that who ever tried to fix this, irst, didnt know what they were doing, and secondly didnt buy the right LCD / digitizer combo, as i have found out that there are two diff digitizers and lcds? anyways any insight would be great, as this i think is a pretty straight fix,
Cheers
Oliver
I happen to be going thru an lcd/digitizer replacement myself. It looks like the previous owner did in fact get a mismatched lcd digitizer combo. The digitizer in that photo is the European weld on type, and will need to be soldered to a matching lcd. The lcd in that pic is the American version and needs only to make the ribbon connection.
Cheers
hey thanks for that, i thought i was going crazy when i couldnt find out what the clip on the back of the lcd was for, the idiot who tried fixing it used sticky tape to stick it to the back of the lcd in hopes of it working. lol, anyways the other thing is the membrain for the buttons at the bottom are broken, is there a web site that sells the membrian?
cheers
Oliver
Your best bet would be to look on eBay for a broken hd2 for parts
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
i actually have an lcd and digitizer screen that I may let go at a good price..not to mention 2 phones worth of misc parts/mother board, chassis, etc...
let me know
Do you guys know if you can swap in a AU Telstra HD2 (T9193) main board into a US TMO HD2 (T8585) digitizer and shell? My digitizer quit and I want to get up and running asap.
Anyone know?

Hi,
I'm new to this site, if I wrote something wrong, please have a mercy .
Ok, my thing is that I have HTC Blackstone and I broke its frontal cover (known as digitizer too ). I ordered this part prom ebay, and today I got it. Nice, new, tools included. But...then I started to dismember the phone, and at the end I discovered that its display is glued or something like that to frontal cover. The question is: How can I change this digitizer? Because with LCD everything is fine, I need to change just this digitizer.
Hope to hear some tips.
Thank you all in advance .
Checked the service manual in the wiki?
I tried, but only thing that I found was some kind of service manual for dismembering the phone up to LCD, but there isn't any info on how to change LCD (and I think that changing digitizer could be similar to changing LCD). I don't believe that HTC didn't include such an option to change LCD or digitizer, especially if digitizer can be bought separately.
Maybe this can help then.

I've not watched it all the way through but hopefully it might help.
big thanks, but this guy in video is stuck in the same situation as me . I'll try to contact my local HTC service center, maybe they'll have some solution .
Sorry then don't know. Good luck.

I very much doubt they'll give you any info on taking the HD apart, they'll surely want you to send it in for repair!?
That said I would love to have a go at replacing the entire outer casing as mine is looking tatty now. Can you send me a link to the ebay seller that you got your parts from and maybe I'll have a go at it myself
EDIT: Perhaps it would be better to get a screen and ditigitzer as one unit? LCD & Digitizer
EDIT: Have you managed to get the screen and digitzer out of the front part of the case, I guess it's then easier to split the screen and digitizer. See this ebay item for pics, perhaps it makes a bit more sense when you look at it Full Housing Kit

My LCD screeb broken yesterday. I have tmobile HTC HD2.But my touchscreen works fine.
Do I need to purchase this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-HD2-T858...#ht_2748wt_698
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-MOBILE-HTC-HD2...ht_1845wt_1014
Do I need to solder something or is just an easy fix?
Please let me know.
Thanks
Mine too
The links to the Ebay sale you posted are no longer valid.
My screen is broken also, just the touch sensitive glass (digitizer). The LCD is still in tact.
From what I understand the digitizer is harder to replace than the entire screen (digitizer+LCD) because the LCD is glued to the digitizer. There's a video on YouTube someone posted demoing the process.

Has the digitizer for only $57 USD, but you have to order 3 at at time. If we can find someone else that's interested, then maybe we can go in and get one if that's all that you need also.

I have done the digitizer repair, not exactly what I would call a fun time.
Easy to mess up your phone, need to make your own glue or double sided tape (to hold digitizer/lcd/frame together), about 4 little tiny wires that need to be placed correctly when putting the phone back together.
Thankfully the US HD2 does not require soldering the digitizer's connector to the lcd (the european one does), however again this is not a repair job for the feinthearted.
After all was said and done and the digitizer was repaired, the new one had the rainbow/oil effect when under a fluorescent light source, don't know if it is due to me using the wrong digitizer or what, but it did not look good. I had the same issue with a altell touch pro 1 that I purchased on ebay, it annoyed me then and it's back with a vengance.
Have fun, be very meticulous and watch the HD2 dissembler videos about 5 times before you unscrew one screw.
Hello, can somebody help me ?, One day my hd2 fall on the floor and my digitizer crash, after that phone works well i had only few cracks on the sreen, 2 months later my phone fall second time but only from low-altitude on the floor. and my lcd stop work phone only vibrate and boot sound works but the lcd is black.do you think is somethink wrong with lcd or with motherboard ??? thanks a lot
It is the LCD, it has stopped working. Your digitizer may have stopped working too but you have no way of knowing this though as the LCD is not working. You can get a replacemeant digitizer and LCD that are already connected to repaiar it with. Do a search or have a good look through the threads in the back pages here and you will find a good bit of threads on people that have done this and go to Youtube and have a search there as it is some great DIY videos on doing this on there.
my digitizer gone away in first crash i dissamble it and best place for buy is ebay ? everything here is CE china export D

Yeah ebay will probably be the best place to get replacement components. And just a tip the Euroupean HD2 and T-Mobile HD2 replacement digitzer and LCD combos will fitt in either version of the HD2. But the T-Mobile ones do not have to me soldered to the main board and the Euroupean ones do have to be soldered. Now I do not know if the connector on the ribbon of the T-Mobile ones will be able to plug in to the Eroupean ones as i do not know if they have the resiprocating connector on the main board of the Eroupean models.
i have european version(non-us) P/N 60H00295-00P with ribbon wich need soldering digitizer so i look on ebay.but still i have care about motherboard:/

Not true!
T-mobile touch is connected to LCD through small connector and European version HD2 touch have to be soldered to LCD, but BOTH versions of 'LCD+touch combo' are connected to M/B through connector, no soldering is needed at all!

You may just be right my friend, it does look as if they both have the connector for the Main board. The combos come with the LCD and the digitizer already together, so yes there is no need for soldering. I was under the impression it was not his way. I will do further checking into this later as I just pulled up like 10 different sites but none show a picture that is conclusive enough for me to say for sure but good catch there pvii.

More of that, cable and connectors have the same size and pin nimber, seems that they are interchangeable (LCM+digitizer assembly of course). Motherboards have the same size and shape too, NAND is the only difference I could observe.
Hi
My friend has cracked the screen on her uk wildfire, i have replaced screens before so i have offered to have a go. However it appears that there are 2 different types of screens one with a chip (or IC) on the ribbon cable and one without. Does anyone know which one I need to order? the phone is still usable so i dont really want to take it apart just to find out what is already in it.
Also can anyone point me towards any tutorials on taking these apart?
Cheers
Jim
You'll have to take your phone apart to see which one it is just look for a chip on the digitizer ribbon cable if there's one the you need one with ic.
If the lcd is broke you don't need to they are all the same

Excellent thanks for the confirmation and the link
Recently, my son dropped my HTC HD2(Europe/Greece version). The result was a broken screen. As I found out later, only the cover glass(digitizer) was broken and the LCD was OK.It even worked over the broken glass but it was dangerous to cut yourself anytime.
I looked in ebay and found a new digitizer at about $15. I also found a guide on youtube on how to open the HD2 and replace the digitizer. I followed all this steps (difficult and tricky but possible) just to find out that the ribbon cable of the old digitizer was welded(soldered) on the LCD. I found out after that, that there are 2 types of HD2. The one like mine and the (I think) T-mobile version which is with a connector.
I had no luck trying to mannually solder the ribbon cable on the LCD. I am not so good on that.
The next is to order a preassembled LCD with a digitizer. It costs about $40-$70 on ebay. It is a litle expensive, so I 'I try to keep it safe. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Are there different types of LCD as it is for the Digitizer?
Can anyone help me on making a corect decision?
Thank you

You should buy The T8585 model.
Don't worry if Tmobile is written on the screen.
