Apps crashing all over the place - Streak 5 General

I have the Rogers version of the Streak. I unlocked it, ran the QDL tool, and updated to the latest Dell update.
The stock apps ie weather, email, anything installed from market, crash and lock up the phone when opened.
Any advice on resolving these crashes?

Have you tried a factory reset? Usually if you have FCs all over the place and not a specific app a FC might fix it. (do a nandroid backup before hand and if a FC doesnt work, you dont lose anything)

I had some issues with stock apps like the accuweather crap. I just used titanium back up to remove those crap apps.

I will try the nandroid backup and do a hard reset. If that doesnt work, Ill root it and remove the apps using titanium backup.

[Q] Nandroid restore– Clockworkmod – Starting Download hanging..

Every time I try a new ROM and try to go back to my backup I made on Nandroid in Clockwork-mod regardless of when the backup was made everything works fine but find out that I can’t download anything. Gmail works, I will get notices that updates are available but it hangs at starting download.
I have tried to clear cache, use WIFI, everything else I can find but the only solution is to Odin and start all over..
Any suggestions about what I can do?
This is my first Android phone after leaving Apple - is this what I should expect?
anyone? any ideas?
From one novice to another, have you tried uninstalling the market from the stock application screen? Not titanium backup or rom manager, but uninstalling the market from your stock applications is safe, all it does is remove your temp market files, not the app, you simply launch again, accept the tos again, and you're back in, hope this helps.

Removing Bloatware with Titanium Backup

So I tried uninstalling Bing with TB and it went smoothly. I rebooted the phone after and no issues whatsoever. Google is now the default search engine. I have heard from others that deleting the bloatware can have unpredictable results and maybe not allow firmware update when froyo comes out. I am thinking of uninstalling the bloatware using TB and would like to know if anyone has done this and with what result.

just use the donate version of TB to simply freeze them...this will deactivate them as well as remove them from your apps list so that when it comes time for a OTA update. You simply defrost them and you are good to go.
I was thinking, even if I just uninstall the bloatware, I can always do a factory reset later on to get my phone back to stock. Then I can update to froyo. Will this work??
When you update to froyo it should be in the form of a rom you flash from here. Enjoy your phone and battery life now and freeze all that crap but nothing google.
good day.

If I'm not mistaken doing a factory reset will not un freeze apps in TB but I'd you delete them I don't see why they wouldn't return.

I used TB to back up the apps and system but for some reason it did not back up the bloatware apk's. I ended up using Super Manager. Its got an APK manager app that let's me backup everything, even the bloatware APK's. So now I can reinstall everything when its time to update to froyo.

Please help! Titanium restore made my phone crappy

Edit:
If I would flash a JPO rom over mine, without resetting, would it restore system app without me loading data?
Until this weekend I was on JPM. I loved the phone, very fast, responsive, in one word: RELIABLE.
Then I wanted to go back the "straight" way, and I decided to update to the official JPO with Kies (though not yet availablo for switzerland - SWC). So I flashed JM1, changed product to XEU and unpgraded, hoping to restore everything with Titanium. It was a major pain, but it worked. I did the titanium restore after a wipe data/sd format of course, just in case.
But now my phone is crap!
Many apps FC, I was just able to salvage the mail app. Now the other MAJOR problem is the wireless. It keeps disconnecting, sometimes I have to disable/enable to manage to reconnect to my home AP, other times I have to restart phone.
TL,DR;
Therefor I ask for the following advices:
- Is there a way I could "reset" the wireless module? Or reinstall it?
- I would be willing to start from scratches or reconfigure most of my phone... But is there a RELIABLE tool (meaning, it works at high level, with no risk of messing up things) to backup at least some of my settings?
- Any suggestion on how to wipe and start "almost" over is greatly welcome.
Otherwise one day I`ll give up and start from real scratches.
I`d like to stay on JPO because I do find many improvement in responsiveness.
I also applied z4root and OCLF of course...
THANKS to those who will share a few words of advice.

Next time don't restore system apps and settings just user apps.
Thanks, that is helpful. I did not think about it. So I could create a new backup with titanium, do a wipe, and restore only user? Or the system applications now are spoiled for good?

Save the backup you have already on your external SDCard. Do a factory reset of the phone and then do a restore of only the user apps and data.
Much much better! Thanks a lot, I understood also better how to user titanium.

Wiping my data off X10?

Hey peeps....couple quick questions here. I flashed my X10 with the nordic 2.1 update....a post from bin4ry a while ago....i also rooted it with z4root and deleted some things. Now, im handing my X10 over to my fiancee to have but I wanna wipe my google account and all my info. If I just did a factory reset will the nordic 2.1 still load properly and will the phone still be rooted for her? And will the apps I removed still be gone?
Thanks!!!!

well, if u had flash the phone, i will restore back to original which means all data u previously have are wiped out.
it also means that rooting and app u once installed also wiped out.
if u did a backup using titanium, then the data still will exits in the sdcard in the form of titanium backup. so be sure the card formated.
sorry for my bad english
I have a similar q. I did the factory reset since my phone has to go to the service repair centre, but it still works mostly.
Anyway, I signed in with my google acc, and I want to remove it without having to do a factory reset again.
Where do you remove your google info in 2.1? I can't find it

[Q] Huge bug with ATT 4.5.91, or just me?

So I updated from stock 1.83, unlocked and rooted. It is now impossible to add a new contact. I get "The application Contacts Storage (process com.motorola.contacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
Is anyone else having this issue? Are there any fixes out there that I'm unaware of?
Nope

I just tried and it worked perfectly for me. Although when asked I selected Google contacts as my default storage... I don't use blur. Oh, and my phone was brought up the same as yours 1.83 Unlocked and Rooted -> 4.1.91 Unlocked and Rooted.
Did you wipe everything when you installed via CWM? I always manually wipe everything.
Same here. No issues adding. 4591 stock (no going back!), rooted, unlocked bl.

I updated to 1.91 via update.zip and did not wipe anything since it wasn't rooted/unlocked. When I try to go into the settings in contacts and change where my contacts are stored, I get force closed again.
Not sure what the problem is , and with all the issues reflashing sbf's and bricking, I don't feel like trying any of that out.

Hate to say this but you may need to do a factory reset. Most likely it will be the only way to fix it.
Back up your standard apps (no system settings or apps ) and then do the wipe.

I would have to agree with this assessment. I flashed to beta 4.5 and did a TB restore and the phone was very unresponsive and took 2-4 minutes to boot. Many apps were not even working. I performed a Data wipe/factory reset and cache wipe to fix it.
Ok, fixed it. I'm an idiot. Froze some stuff with TBU. Of all things, it was Yahoo! Mail Authenticator 2.3.4 that was screwing it up.
Thanks for the suggestions, mods feel free to close this thread.
Pieces of the motoblur social apps I had frozen caused this for me too .. I'm just letting everything run without freezing anything until the final release and towing a generator behind me to keep the battery going
My phone work perfect. I install it by using fastboot. I think some phone have issue with clockwork recovery.
I restored "Contact Storage 2.3.4" with TiB and it stopped the FC and its working fine now.
Anyone got any suggestions about the radio not locking to HSPA+ signal and the GPS shows 0 feet error in GPS Status?

Yahoo authentication service was the culprit in my case of force close on selecting contacts. Make sure that it isn't frozen
