Hi, i passed by 3 different phones over 1 month, ending up here, where i think i cant go wrong. just bought an vibrant, it should arive in 1-2 days, and searching on net seens useless...
Well, on my country, Brazil, only i9000b is "officialy" sold as i had read.
So, im kinda, not to say totally lost about my phone really is, any advice would be great! since i know u should awnser this a lot, and i got no clue using the search...
Well, besides digital tv and frontal vga cam, its the same phone? other thing that is very important... we get the same updates as i9000? do we have official 2.2? if so, our phone takes long to get updates?
Well thats all... any help to get me situated, would be lovely. thanks!

Personal message mmelo76 He is our moderator and lives in Brazil. he can tell you alot about how the Vibrant works in Brazil.
I have Family in Brazil, and My understanding is the Vibrant works but you may need 2 things, the Portuguese language package from the I9000 and you may need to change the setting in the Banding setting....... but contact MMelo he is our moderator and he Lives in Caieiras - SP and uses Claro as his carrier, Welcome hope that helps you ..ciao

Well, i searched on the net, and on this forum and got no sucess. i know it seens to be an hardware problem, but at least im asking him, if it could be any kind of software issue, kernell, etc, i really dont know how the amoled display works.
The fact is that i spent all my money, that i took a lot of time to earn, on this phone, that was my dream, and know, on my first day, is becoming my nightmare. any sugestions of what i should try? if worth trying to install custom stuff?
Any help would be apreciated... it seens to be a small area, but just some things thant dont work :
on horizontal : u cant type "dot"
on vertical: cant scroll back the status bar when its down, cant click on "now playing" in music player
All this can be avoided turning the phone, but man, i paid a lot in it...

im searching for a screen aligment utility, it could fix my entire problem in a second... if i could move the screen about 2 milimeters up, it would "fix" the entire problem
2 milimeters sounds about the same height of the notification bar.
i would say i half the notification bar, and my problems would be solved...
isnt it possible that it cant be done...

But I read through your other thread and the way you had written your posts - You were trying to make it seem that you had nothing to do with it and just stumbled on to it or something. I rooted it a while back and updated to Cupcake (1.5), basically so I could tether it to my laptop, and have used it for that since but..
Now I come back, browse the forum and people are talking about new FWs and ROMs, and I want in on it.
I would especially like to be able to store apps on my SD card aswell if anyone can help there.
And could someone post maybe a quick breakdown of any new stuff you can do with a rooted phone that I may not know about.

OK so basically search these forums for anything you want like "apps2sd" or go to the dream android development section to check out all the latest roms. Looking at all the different threads by yourself will be way more informative then me trying to explain it to you. Have fun .
P.S. Check out the new cyan rom that just came out
Lucky for you I was in your position recently, I saved all the useful links for easier access in the future.
This link is probably the most helpful and will bring you up to speed and have you prepared for pretty much everything thats out now.

I would start with cyan's recovery image first, run down the list till you are on he latest SPL and Radio (Might wanna do a little research before on this, Good brick potential if done wrong). Then I would stop at the part about JacHero, If you want to test that rom. Go ahead, Hero is great but runs slower.
I prefer CyanogenMod. Here's the link to that.

I quoted that cause it's always ran stable for me. Last thing about apps to sd, If you partition your sdcard and set it up like the tutorial, Cyan's rom will set up apps2sd automatically.

The rooting process is still the same and you flash all these new roms like you would a JF build. the process is pretty much the same juat the stuff is sooo mucb cooler: )
I learned something new you can do with your G1. You know that little glass hole on the back of your G1?? Its not a peep hole to look at the inner workings of your phone as I originally thought. That is actually a camera you could take pictures/videos with...

That looks nice but the prototypes had lag with 256MB ram which is to little for the UI. Hopefully those bugs get worked out by sony.

I have a rom in progress, its gonna be a lot of different things and hopefully I can get it to work .
It will be gingerbread based, something that hasnt really come out yet. A non cm7/miui/vanilla experience.

And if its aosp based don't just rebuild jts vanilla rom with a new theme and call it something else

There was another guy in the charge forum who made a thread of how he was gonna make a spiffy new rom and gave release dates and he just crashed and burned badly.
To the op, if you just did all that without saying anything nobody would have known. Too bad.

Forget it I just fried my SD card working on this rom. I was planning on making a touchwhizzy aosp-gingerbread, but then it bites me in the a$# and fries my damn sdcard. Good thing I had a spare.

Ok seriously, I'm always in favor of somebody trying to produce something "new" (key word) for the community. But, your track history in this area commands nothing but ridicule and flaming tbh. Keep working on whatever it is you are working on, but let the next thing you post in the forums be a link to something functional.

These guys here that know what they are doing would probably help you out if you came to them seriously for help, instead of posting a new thread about (insert name here) new rom you are making and then you give up because something new came out. You have to have something to start with man, we didnt go from horse carriages to lambo's overnight.
Would you ppl cut the kid some slack. Reading his silly post is one of the high lights of coming here. Stop taking him so serious and just enjoy his antics. There is no need in shooting down some kids dreams.

lets see...all he has done in months of involvement is post a broken recovery and made a lot of promises
the issues is that real developers dont do this, and he ll never be one until he stops doing so
like the other coming soon thread in here, i will leave it at that and disappear

But you have to admit its funny as hell. Its kind of like watching a kid build a space ship, ofc he's not gonna do anything but it still makes you smile. Aside from a few ppl new to these forums I don't think anyone has been fooled into expecting anything so where is the harm in letting him play.

I can say thanks for the hard work you guys put in but you really need to stop assuming that everyone is programing at degree level.
After 4 broken mouse a broken cup and 4 sleepless nights I'm giving up trying to root the wildfire..

That's funny I followed them twice with no complications at all and I knew nothing about Android and have basic computer skills, don't blame the guides here for your own incompetence. Those guides have helped hundreds/thousands of people to gain root, if you're having problems why not ask like everyone else does, though I doubt you'll get much help now.

Maybe you just don't have enough patience and willingness to put time and effort into your phone. I rooted my wildfire the second day I got it, no problems at all.
PS: epic ragequit bro. A broken mouse and a mug. Over an android phone.

When I rooted mine I had zero knowlege of Android past "this app looks neat" and I did it in an hour or two (didn't get much sleep that night. too much new stuff to install)
But seriously, if you just use a third party tool like Revolutonary, it's as easy as pie.
Download tool->plugin phone->install drivers (if necesary)->run tool->follow simple onscreen instructions

I just think folk could be a bit clearer at times and then when your not having success further in the post someone chimes in with another 'even easier' solution lol, well so they say so your away again and suprise it doesn't work or something isn't clear so you go back and aw well the loop continues until you litteraly break!
I give up the phones old hat now anyway!

I can understand where you are coming from, before I bought my Wildfire I had never even used any PC Linux Distros (distributions) and had a lot of reading up to do, but the main thing I had to remember is this:
KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON LEARNING
whenever I had a problem rooting or now when I am trying to do something with my wildfire - I will not just dive straight in, research what you want to know IN DETAIL
and then if I am still in doubt, I will ask one of the great devs on here, such as Scratch0805, Heavy_Metal_Man, Sympnotic and Arco68 and Hacktrix2006 - but there as so many that I can not name all the people that have helped our friend Willy Wildfire progress to where its at!
My point is, dont just try and do it if you can't, RESEARCH, and if need be - ask for help.
There is always people on XDA willing to give help to those that ask and don't tant.
Dev? Me? Far from it mate, I have no knowledge of Linux based systems at all, well except what I've learnt here, it has all come from reading guides on xda.
I struggle to understand when erwinp,sympnotic start talking in the cm9 thread.
I think of myself more an advanced user who's not afraid to have a go.
To the op if you post your problem in the thread of the guide your trying to follow we'll try to help you and figure out where your going wrong.

You just need to understand that this is a forum. If a member of a forum has a problem, he can post about it and other members can help him solve it. That's how forums work
I'm 100% sure if you posted about your issue in the relevant thread, you would've gotten a solution in 2 hours, if not less.

agreed. im sorry if my reply seems harsh (my hasty responses can be) it just frustrates me when people come with grievances and seem to have not asked for help on the matter. if you had asked for help, read the threads and still couldnt get the help you wanted then i would understand. (we have all been there before). our members try there best when righting guides to make them as user friendly as possible. we all need to start somewhere and alot of us come here with little or no knowledge of linux or android. if we can do it you can do it. these things just take time and paitence.

Look ya muppet, if you read the guides as carefully as you read my posts I'm not surprised you can't get root. Me and you both seem to have a bit of an attitude so let's just leave it.
Yes we kind of clashed the first couple of posts I get that and offer my apologies, it just p's me off when people throw a fit and blame others because its themselves that can't follow a simple step by step guide correctly. This forum is what it is because of people asking questions and others answering them. I'm offering to help you as that's why we're here and I know other people will too so just chill out, Buy yourself a new mug then have a cuppa tea n we'll try to start again and get you up n running!

I purchased my wildfire in South Africa and to gain root i couldnt use the regular way, i researched day and night, by the way this is my first android phone, i knew nothing what so ever about what i was doing but because i just applied myself into the task, the day i decided to finally root, it took me less than an hour. but now im fairly competent in fixing this and that on a rom, so shoot your questions, we will answer..........this is XDA, we can do anything.
Ok thread cleaned and closed.
To make things clear here.
XDA is a developer forum and not everyone's personal tech support.
Mostly everyone in here tries and reads the guides and the wealth of information included for their own benefit.
If you dont like the current guides then by all means make your own and offer something back to the community.
